But knowing that it isn't a Midship, Gemini or any other <em>Halo </em>map remake, the big question is whether or not Assembly plays splendidly or if it is any fun at all. And we're pleased to tell you that, yes, it's an unbelievably well designed map that ranks high among our <em>Halo 3</em> favorites. Impressions after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/31/pax-2008-halo-3-assembly-hands-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PAX 2008: Halo 3 Assembly hands-on</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/31/pax-2008-halo-3-assembly-hands-on/">PAX 2008: Halo 3 Assembly hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 31 Aug 2008 14:00:00 EST. Reggie wants us to know that they're working on fixing the situation, although they pretty much have no idea as to when things will be better. With their monthly output upped from 1.8 million units a month to 2.4, Nintendo is indeed trying.<br /><br />"Currently, demand is higher than supply, but we believe we'll soon get back to a more balanced situation," says Nintendo's resident name-taker, ass-kicker Reggie Fils-Aime. Unfortunately, that's all he had to say on the situation, leaving us all in the dark as to when the supply will start meeting the demand. Until then, we're forced to keep <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/12/rumor-circuit-city-restocking-wii-wii-fit/">checking in with retailers</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/23/tracking-wii-fits-online-availability/">trying to find one online</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=46115">Go Nintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/13/reggie-wii-stock-balance-soon-nintendo-manufacturing-more-cons/">Reggie: Wii stock balance soon, Nintendo manufacturing more consoles each month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Jun 2008 12:30:00 EST. You can make it stronger. You can fix your own DS. Not that you would, since Nintendo has such <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/19/nintendo-replaces-ds-lite-asks-no-questions/">amazing customer service</a>, but the relative <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/17/best-buy-offering-10-gift-cards-with-purchase-of-ds-lite/">inexpensive price</a> of the handheld means that you can feel free to tinker and disassemble your old one with no fear and get your learn on, as you purchase a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/20/nintendo-confirms-new-bundles-for-the-holidays/">newer model</a> to keep you warm at night and <em>actually</em> <em>play games</em>. Replacing a screen, fixing a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/11/nintendo-no-love-for-phat-crack/">broken hinge</a> and just about any other major overhaul you could need to do to your DS is covered in this guide. <br /><br />Handy, eh?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/18/become-the-dr-frankenstein-of-the-ds-world/">Become the Dr. Frankenstein of the DS world</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Dec 2007 12:00:00 EST. Four months after the console's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/launch">initial release</a>, it's still unlikely that you'll be able to find a Wii on store shelves.<br /><br />Up until now, Foxconn Precision Components has been the sole manufacturer behind the Wii's assembly. Nintendo hopes to increase its production by taking on an additional manufacturing partner, researching offers from Asustek Computer, Compal Electronics, Inventec, and Wistron.<br /><br />It's great that Nintendo is looking to increase the amount of systems it ships out, but how long will it be before we see the benefits of this partnership? It was already evident that the Wii's supply was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shortage">constrained</a> months ago -- why didn't Nintendo bring in a new manufacturer then?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=5056&amp;Itemid=2">Next Generation</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/29/nintendo-searching-for-more-wii-manufacturers/">Nintendo searching for more Wii manufacturers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Mar 2007 11:00:00 EST. (Or bootleg videos from current-gen titles
like <em>God of War 2</em>?) Well, it looks like you're in luck, as we've got a few fuzzy PS3 videos from Phil
Harrison's speech, courtesy of the embargo-ignorin' folks at Multiplayer.it.<br /><br />What we have above is a clip
from the developer demo of <em>Warhawk</em> for the PS3. A voiceover describes the "ambient warfare" to be
used in the air-combat simulation game, as well as the innovative mix of "Cell-based software rendering with
RSX-based hardware rendering" to produce the graphics. For all you coders out there, it was also interesting to
note that the programs running on the Cell's SPUs were not written in low-level assembly (easing development, but
possibly degrading performance).<br /><br />While we wait until E3, when a playable version of <em>Warhawk</em> was
promised to be delivered, here are a few more PS3 videos from GDC that you might find interesting (with a few
unfortunately quite incomplete):<br />
