So, next week's <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-weekly"><em>Rock Band</em> DLC</a> will include a Lynyrd Skynyrd track pack. Now, fun fact: Every time Lynyrd Skynyrd was typed in this post, I had to look up how it was spelled, out of some paranoid compulsion that I'd spelled it wrong. I wonder if "Lynyrd Skynyrd" is the music writer's version of the game industry's classic spell-anoia name: EA CEO John <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/john-riccitiello">R-I-C-C-I-T-I-E-L-L-O</a>.<br />
<br />
Accompanying the "Sweet Home Alabama" band, who apparently <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynyrd_Skynyrd">formed in Florida</a>, are singles from .38 Special and Bad Company. The full DLC track details are posted after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/24/rock-band-weekly-lynyrd-skynyrd-bad-company-38-special/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rock Band Weekly: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, .38 Special</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/24/rock-band-weekly-lynyrd-skynyrd-bad-company-38-special/">Rock Band Weekly: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, .38 Special</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Nov 2010 12:25:00 EST. As the name of the DLC implies, this DLC is for VIP members only. Much like <em>Mass Effect 2</em>'s Cerberus Network, VIP membership is free for those who bought the game new. Meanwhile, those with used copies on Xbox or PlayStation 3 will have to fork over $15 (1200<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> on Xbox) for a VIP membership. PC players (lucky dogs) are exempt from all this business and will receive the pack as an update.<br />
<br />
It's worth noting that the map pack doesn't <em>actually</em> include any maps. Instead, it unlocks the Conquest Mode in Arica Harbor and Rush Mode in Laguna Presa. Still, it's essentially new gameplay for free, so it's hard to complain. Unless you aren't a VIP, of course. The DLC releases tomorrow, March 30.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/29/bad-company-vip-map-pack-2-trailer-realistically-falls-apart/">Bad Company VIP Map Pack 2 trailer (realistically) falls apart</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 29 Mar 2010 16:30:00 EST. Okay, Mac gamers, take a deep breath. It's been a busy day. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/08/valve-confirms-mac-support-for-steam-and-source-engine/">Steam is coming to the Mac</a>. The <em>Left 4 Dead</em> games will even support multiplayer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/08/left-4-dead-to-feature-cross-platform-play-between-mac-and-pc/">across PC and Mac platforms</a>. You're just not used to all this attention, we <em>understand</em>. Bear with it though, because there's more on the way. In a recent tweet, DICE's Karl Magnus Troedsson stated, "<a href="http://twitter.com/L_Twin/status/10187327582">We like it!</a>" in reference to Valve's Mac Steam announcement. When asked by <a href="http://ugdb.com/news/view/battlefield-possibly-making-its-return-to-mac-thanks-to-steam/">UGDB.com</a> whether the company had plans for a Mac version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Battlefield-Bad-Company-2/"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company 2</em></a>, Troedsson responded, "We're currently investigating the possibility of making <em>BFBC2</em> available on Mac."<br />
<br />
It wouldn't be the first time a <em>Battlefield</em> game was ported to Mac -- the most recent being <em>Battlefield: 2142</em> -- but it <em>could </em> be the first <em>Battlefield</em> released on Mac via Steam. Again, Mac gamers, it's a lot to take in. Try to get some sleep and we'll start fresh tomorrow.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/09/dice-investigating-bad-company-2-on-mac/">DICE 'investigating' Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on Mac</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Mar 2010 05:00:00 EST. While not quite the <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/modernwarfare2?q=modern%20warfare%202">94 review average</a> that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2">Modern Warfare 2</a></em> eventually ended up with, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company-2">Battlefield: Bad Company 2</a></em> is off to a <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/battlefieldbadcompany2">generous start</a> on Metacritic, averaging a 90 as of this writing. The developers at DICE have certainly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/10/battlefield-bad-company-2-looking-to-catch-mw2-jaded-pc-gamers/">kicked up some dust</a> in challenging the monolithic multiplayer of <em>MW2</em>, but it remains to be seen what will eventually shake out online. For now, we've got the single-player reviews for you, just below:<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.gamepro.com/article/reviews/214194/battlefield-bad-company-2/">GamePro</a> (<strong>5/5 Stars</strong>): "<em>Bad Company 2</em>'s unexpected emphasis on survival skills caught me completely off guard ... The radical change in pace forced me to think and react differently to the situation than I normally would, and it made for an incredible experience. <em>Bad Company 2</em> definitely has the necessary chops to give the current king of, well, modern warfare, a run for its money.."</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.gamedaily.com/games/battlefield-bad-company-2/xbox-360/game-reviews/list/8044/0/">GameDaily</a> (<strong>9/10</strong>): "Combat is both intense and exhilarating. Nothing beats unloading a few grenades at a house and watching the ammo tear chunks from it while dead bodies sail through the air. <em>Battlefield: Bad Company 2</em> is an immensely entertaining shooter that demands your attention"</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.oxm.co.uk/article.php?id=17809"> Official Xbox Magazine UK</a> (<strong>8.0/10</strong>): "While the likes of <em>Call of Duty</em> and <em>Gears of War</em> lead you into bottlenecks where they can dazzle you with explosions and special effects, <em>Bad Company 2</em> feels more like a diluted sprawl of ideas across a large canvas. This variety ensures things stay interesting but it makes it a solid rather than spectacular effort. You'll enjoy it, but will find that you struggle to recall any standout moments once the credits finally roll."</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.totalvideogames.com/Battlefield-Bad-Company-2/review-15026.html">Totally Video Games</a>: (<strong>7/10</strong>): "While <em>Battlefield 2: Modern Combat</em> (on previous-gen machines) and the original <em>Bad Company</em> both featured standalone single-player campaigns, both fell well short of the kind of gameplay we've come to expect of the Master Chief or Sergeant 'Soap' MacTavish. Unfortunately, DICE still hasn't turned the corner with its single-player design in <em>Bad Company 2</em>."</li>

This Thursday at 12:30am ET, the new season of GameTrailers TV is set to debut with a look at <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company-2"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company 2</em></a>. Specifically, the <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/episode-301-gametrailers-tv/60992">trailer for this week's episode</a> promises that the show will display the first footage of the game's single-player campaign (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/18/battlefield-bad-company-2-squad-deathmatch-preview/">we've seen multiplayer already</a>, after all). Beyond the <em>Bad Company 2</em> footage, GTTV will also have a clip from the upcoming <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/halo-legends"><em>Halo Legends</em></a> anime collection. This might be a stretch, but we're guessing there will be Spartans in it.<br />
<br />
As always, expect any juicy details to wind up here on Joystiq once the episode airs.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/20/gttv-revealing-bad-company-2-campaign-this-week/">GTTV revealing Bad Company 2 campaign this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Jan 2010 19:40:00 EST. Maybe you were more into sneaking into a building's attic, blowing a hole in one corner, and carefully sniping the other team from afar? <em>You are our bane!</em> <br />
<br />
<em>Ahem,</em> that said, the latest multiplayer trailer for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company-2"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company 2</em></a> above, serves to remind us of all the good times we had the first time around. It also, unfortunately, serves to remind us that the second game still isn't out for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/06/hands-on-battlefield-bad-company-2-multiplayer-beta/">another three months</a>. Luckily, some of you will get to enjoy the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/19/be-bad-and-win-a-battlefield-bad-company-2-beta-code/">multiplayer beta</a> starting today. Do us all a favor, folks -- shell the snipers!<br />

EA and DICE revealed today what's to be found with the treasure trove of weaponry in <em>Battlefield: Bad Company 2</em>'s <a href="http://investor.ea.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=419704">Limited Edition</a> retail release. The <em>BFBC2</em> "while supplies last" edition will contain six special game unlocks -- only four of which are for <em>Bad Company 2</em> -- and cost the same as the regular retail version. <br />
<br />
The four <em>BFBC2</em> unlocks are:<br />
<ul>
    <li><strong>Improved Vehicle Armor</strong> - Pretty self explanatory.</li>
    <li><strong>Supreme Vehicle Firepower - </strong>Additional weapon mounts for the driver.</li>
    <li><strong>Vehicle Motion Sensor</strong> - Locate enemy units in proximity to vehicle.</li>
    <li><strong>Tracer Dart Pistol </strong>- Attaches to any vehicle "to track, lock on, and fire rockets onto moving targets even beyond line of sight"</li>
</ul>
The other two unlocks are for <em>Battlefield 1943</em> and give soldiers the M1A1 Submachine Gun and the M1911 Pistol, which are both ... you know, guns that go pew-pew. <em>BFBC2</em> launches March 2 and 5 in North America and Europe, respectively. Meanwhile, poor <em>Battlefield 1943</em> has been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/08/pax-2009-battlefield-1943-producer-talks-lack-of-dlc/">waiting for new maps</a> since <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/ps3-battlefield-1943-players-unlock-air-superiority/">July 20, 2009</a>.<br />

Of course, we haven't played said competitors, but we can't imagine another game's characters drop bombs of the "S" and "F" varieties as freely as those seen in <a href="http://www.viddler.com/explore/Joystiq/videos/2129/">the trailer above</a>. Well, except for the two agents in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/house-of-the-dead-overkill"><em>House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a>, but that's a special, <em>special</em> exception.<br /> <br /> Fortunately, it looks like there's some solid action in there to accompany all the <em>dirty words</em>. Check out the trailer for an uncut, uncensored and unsuitable for work gameplay chunk from a multiplayer match in <em>BBC2</em>. Listen up, fans of slow elevators and <em>shooting everyone</em> <em>in sight</em>. EA's recent financial earnings call divulged information indicating the publisher is readying sequels to BioWare's sci-fi RPG, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mass-effect"><em>Mass Effect</em></a>, and DICE's multiplayer-driven FPS, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company</em></a>. There isn't that much else to report, other than EA CEO John Riccitiello saying that <em>Mass Effect 2 </em>would be available on "multiple platforms" and Bad Company would be "back on consoles" in Q4 of fiscal year 2010, which translates into<em> normal people speak</em> as sometime between January and March 2010.<br /><br />We'll try to corner more information on these two titles and update as soon as we can.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/battlefield-bad-company-2/1336135/full/">First screen</a> of <em>Bad Company 2</em> released.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/ea-confirms-mass-effect-2-and-battlefield-bad-company-sequel/">EA confirms multiplatform Mass Effect 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company sequel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Feb 2009 18:02:00 EST. <div align="left">Flying a bit under the radar (at least, our radar) was the release of new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company</em></a> downloadable content on Halloween day. Nothing too exciting except for the fact that the DLC is comprised of four new multiplayer maps that are 100% free! You know how much we love our free DLC.<br /> </div>
</div>
<br />The 265MB <em>Bad Company</em> <a href="http://badcompany.ea.com/castyourvote/">Community's Choice Pack</a> features two DICE chosen maps (<a href="http://badcompany.ea.com/media/mediaid/193572/">Crossing Over</a> and <a href="http://badcompany.ea.com/media/mediaid/193573/">Ghost Town</a>) as well as the two community chosen maps <a href="http://badcompany.ea.com/media/mediaid/193571/">Acta Non Verba</a> and <a href="http://badcompany.ea.com/media/mediaid/193570/">Par for the Course</a> which actually includes golf carts that you can drive around in. Make the jump for a video preview of each map and get downloading. You know, because it's free and you probably have a urge to go golf cart cruising.<br /><br />[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in'<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/02/grab-free-bad-company-communitys-choice-dlc/">Grab free Bad Company Community's Choice DLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 02 Nov 2008 13:00:00 EST. In a move that isn't likely to shock readers of this website, EA's Frank Gibeau recently told <em>Variety </em>that Electronic Arts is <a href="http://weblogs.variety.com/the_cut_scene/2008/10/army-of-two-seq.html">planning sequels</a> to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bad-company"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/army-of-two"><em>Army of Two</em></a>. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/"><em>Dead Space</em></a> executive producer Glenn Schofield also confirmed that a <em>Dead Space </em>sequel is in the works as well. <em>Dead Space</em> fans will also be happy to hear that <em>Dead Space</em> novels and toys are under consideration. We're hoping to see some Necromorphs with limb popping action. IGN <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/909/909604p1.html?RSSwhen2008-09-11_172500&amp;RSSid=909604">reports</a> a veritable cornucopia of news regarding <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bad-company"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company</em></a>. The leaderboards have been expanded to include 500,000 players (up from 50,000), which should give more gamers a chance to see their names up in lights. Also, two of the campaign levels -- Acta Non Verba and Par For The Course -- are being retooled for multiplayer and will be available in an upcoming map pack (no word on when it will release or how much it will cost). Along with the map pack, an update is being prepared that should fix server and Dog Tag lag. Finally, and perhaps most interesting, codes are being given out to unlock three of the five (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/21/how-to-earn-the-five-controversial-bad-company-weapons/">somewhat controversial</a>) weapons that were only available to those who took part in the game's launch promotions. To unlock the different weapons, simply enter the codes below in the unlock section in <em>Bad Company</em>.<br />
<ul>
    <li>Recon Kit - QBU88 - your3mynextt4rget</li>
    <li>Special Ops Kit - UZI - cov3r1ngthecorn3r</li>
    <li>Support Kit - M60 - try4ndrunf0rcov3r</li>
</ul>
The remaining weapons can still be unlocked by checking your stats on the <em>Bad Company </em><a href="http://badcompany.ea.com/">website</a> and joining the EA <a href="http://veteran.battlefield.com/">Veteran's Program</a>.<br />

<div align="left">Today is the last day you can head over to EA's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company</em></a> site to vote for which two maps you'd liked to see modified to become a Conquest battleground in an upcoming map pack. You can choose between Acta Non Verba, Crossing Over, Par for the Course, Ghost Town, Welcome to Bad Company and Crash and Grab. It looks like Par for the Course is at the head of the pack, with Acta Non Verba at a distant second. In addition to the two maps selected in this democratic manner, two will be dictated to us by DICE. Make your voice heard by casting your vote <a href="http://badcompany.ea.com/castyourvote/">here</a>.<br />

We're talking about the brand new Conquest mode of course. Calling it brand new isn't exactly accurate though, as Conquest mode is actually the traditional gameplay mode seen in previous <em>Battlefield</em> titles. Taking place on four modified maps, Conquest has players battle to deplete the opposing teams 'tickets' by capturing flags and, of course, killing enemy soldiers. In short, it's the mode <em>Battlefield</em> fans all know and love. It's available now on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xblm">Xbox Live Marketplace</a> and, best of all, it's free.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/07/bad-companys-conquest-mode-dlc-now-available/">Bad Company's Conquest Mode DLC now available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Aug 2008 11:30:00 EST. A game mode that was first seen and made popular back in <em>Battlefield: 1942</em>. In Conquest, players capture and control flags where, once a flag is captured, that team has the ability to spawn soldiers from. <p>Back in April, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/boycott-of-battlefield-bad-company-spreads-through-internet/">little PR disaster</a> caused EA to come to their senses and changed their mind about charging players to unlock weapons in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company"><span style="font-style: italic;">Battlefield: Bad Company</span></a>. Luckily, this trend is continuing with the game's other DLC content as well; later this week, you'll be able to download the first major update to the game, for free.</p>
<p>The update will contain a Conquest Mode which was originally found on <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_1942"><span style="font-style: italic;">Battlefield 1942</span></a>. The mode allows two teams go against each other in order to reduce one another's tickets. Scoring a kill or capturing control points are two ways to do just that. Anticipate this update to arrive on Thursday, August 7th. Finally, check out the video above of producer Gordon Van Dyke explaining all the updates you should expect.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/05/battlefield-bad-company-conquest-mode-dlc-coming-august-7th/">Battlefield: Bad Company Conquest Mode DLC coming August 7th</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Aug 2008 07:00:00 EST. The first update being the addition of a Conquest game mode that will be included in "The Conquest Pack" which is currently in MS cert. After that's complete, DICE promises to look into issues surrounding things like auto balancing and stat exploits. Remember kids, DICE listens and DICE reacts all because DICE cares.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/53404">Shacknews</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/02/dice-cares-bad-company-updates-inbound/">DICE cares, Bad Company updates inbound</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Jul 2008 10:15:00 EST. Well kids, you aren't alone. EA has acknowledged the fact that some Xbox 360 <em>Bad Company</em> gamers are having <a href="http://badcompany.ea.com/news/entryid/24035/">troubles connecting</a> to the game servers. Though, take comfort in the fact that they are "monitoring stats non-stop and are working with several partners to locate any possible flashpoints and eradicate any hostiles we encounter." Ha! And until they release a fix, EA recommends simply shutting off your Xbox for 20 minutes, then giving it an old fashioned restart. Good luck!<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=163848">Eurogamer</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/bad-company-connection-troubles-just-restart/">Bad Company connection troubles? And the fun has already begun!<br /><br />Kicking off today and lasting through Sunday, June 29th, the <em>Bad Company</em> Live Weekend offers up two fun events. First being the <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/b/badcompany/liveweekend/playandwin.htm">Play &amp; Win</a> where, once <a href="https://live.xbox.com/en-US/signup/SignupLight.ashx?regId=f5bdbf98-dc1c-4c6c-a6d4-cbf36337d5bb">registered</a>, <em>Bad Company </em>gamers can win all kinds of swag, autographed goods and one lucky winner will even come away with a gold dipped Xbox 360. Sounds expensive! The other Live Weekend event is a <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/calendar/gamewithdevelopers/2008/0628-badcompany.htm">Play with Developers</a> event that goes down early tomorrow morning from 3-7:00AM eastern. No, it's not a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/16/intellisponse-survey-rumor-roundup/">news related OMG Megaton</a>. It's more like a "holy effing crap, look at all these games" kind of megaton. There are ten, <em>ten</em> games hitting the Xbox 360 this week. What's more, a lot of them look decent and, dare we say it, some of them even look <em>good</em>. Just <em>look </em>at all of 'em.<br />

It's enough to give someone googly eyes. <em>Alone in the Dark </em>has our interest piqued (and has thus far fared decently in Europe). Here's hoping it -- and everything else here -- is up to snuff.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/23/new-games-this-week-battlefield-bad-company-edition/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/23/shipping-this-week-omg-megaton-edition/">Shipping this week: OMG Megaton edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Jun 2008 15:00:00 EST. And again, they caused us to chuckle uncontrollably.<br /><br />The first promo vid takes on <span style="font-style: italic;">Gears of War</span>'s unforgettable <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/25/new-gow-trailer-pulls-at-your-heartstrings/">"Mad World" trailer</a>, where the B Company crew comes up with their own, more happy rendition that incorporates a musical injection of shortening bread. High-larious! The <span style="font-style: italic;">Rainbow Six</span> parody, embedded after the break, is also enjoyable as it mocks the over exaggerated, charades-style communication style <em>RS </em>soldiers are known for. You must admit, that even if you aren't interested in the game, it's refreshing to see EA and DICE take this kind of entertaining marketing approach. They get the X3F seal of approval.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/21/battlefield-bad-company-trailers-parody-gears-of-war-rainbow-s/">Joystiq</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/22/bad-company-parodies-gears-and-rainbow-six/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bad Company parodies Gears and Rainbow Six</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/22/bad-company-parodies-gears-and-rainbow-six/">Bad Company parodies Gears and Rainbow Six</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 22 Jun 2008 12:45:00 EST. We've seen a veritable gaggle of promotional material for the controversial title as of late, including <a href="http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=151824">two recent trailers which clown on some other popular shooters</a>. The first of which, seen above, parodies the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/27/mad-world-gears-ad-propels-song-to-1-on-itunes/">unforgettable <em>Gears of War</em> trailer</a>, and features an unnamed infantryman butchering Gary Jules' cover of the Tears for Fears classic downer "Mad World". The other (available after the break) somewhat mocks <em>Rainbow Six</em>'s stealth tactics. It's not exactly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/17/leisure-suit-larry-box-office-bust-trailer-riffs-on-gears-of-wa/">uncharted territory</a>, but we can always appreciate such <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Weird_Al%22_Yankovic">Yankovician</a> displays of friendly competition between developers.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/21/battlefield-bad-company-trailers-parody-gears-of-war-rainbow-s/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Battlefield: Bad Company trailers parody Gears of War, Rainbow Six</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/21/battlefield-bad-company-trailers-parody-gears-of-war-rainbow-s/">Battlefield: Bad Company trailers parody Gears of War, Rainbow Six</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 21 Jun 2008 17:00:00 EST. Whether or not you own a PS3, there's a pretty good chance you caught wind of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mgs4"><em>Metal Gear Solid 4</em></a> release last week. There's also a pretty good chance that you are at least <em>familiar</em> with the series. Perhaps you even know that Solid Snake, protagonist of the series, has a habit of hiding in barrels and boxes. There's one thing we know for sure though, and that is that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bad-company"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company</em></a> developer DICE definitely knows about the series. In a new <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/35147.html">video</a> the soldiers of <em>Bad Company</em> poke fun at the longstanding <em>Metal Gear</em> convention. In short, it's pretty damned funny. Find the video after the break.<span style="font-style: italic;"><br /></span><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/17/bad-company-makes-fun-of-solid-snake/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bad Company makes fun of Solid Snake</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/17/bad-company-makes-fun-of-solid-snake/">Bad Company makes fun of Solid Snake</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Jun 2008 12:30:00 EST. Sorry about that. Be sure to check your inbox to see if you won.<br /><br />Come and get 'em a second time around! Yesterday, we awarded 50 lucky fanboys <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company">Battlefield: Bad Company</a> </em>demo access as part of our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/29/fanswag-battlefield-bad-company-demo-download/">Fanswag giveaway</a> sponsored by the mildly cool cats over at EA. And with over 1,300 entrants, we're beginning to think that these demo downloads are a hot commodity. So, if you didn't receive an email notifying you that you won, then wipe your tears and put on your game face, because we're giving away 50 more <em>Bad Company </em>demo downloads today! These codes will allow you to download the single player / multiplayer <em>Bad Company </em>demo RIGHT NOW off the XBLM, before it is available to everyone next Thursday, June 5th.<br /><br />To win one of the 50 <em>Bad Company </em>demo redemption codes, simply comment on this post (one comment per person) by <strong>9:00PM eastern</strong> tonight, when we'll randomly select 50 winners and email the codes. Only Xbox Live accounts based in North America can enter due to redemption codes being restricted (again, sorry European fanboys). This is your last chance to earn early entry into the <em>Bad Company </em>demo, so may the luck force be with you.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/30/fanswag-even-more-bad-company-demo-codes/">Fanswag: Even more Bad Company demo codes [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 May 2008 12:00:00 EST. So, without further wait, here are the non-Microsoft point involved steps to earn each controversial weapon ...<br />
<ul>
    <li>QBU88 Sniper Rifle: Pre-order the game online or at any participating retailer.</li>
    <li>UZI Submachine Gun: Download and play the demo</li>
    <li>M60 Light Machine Gun: Sign up for the <em>Battlefield </em>newsletter</li>
    <li>F2000 Assault Rifle: Register your <em>Battlefield </em>soldier name</li>
    <li>USAS12 Shotgun: Check your <em>Bad Company </em>stats online at launch.</li>
</ul>
Like we said, there's no Microsoft points involved, but is this really a better solution? A show of hands please, who's committed to completing all five tasks listed above to earn the <em>Bad Company</em> weapon bounty?<br />

At their community event last week, Electronic Arts unveiled the five separate tasks you must complete to be able to use all five <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/09/battlefield-bad-companys-dlc-guns-are-free-but-require-marke/">previously-premium weapons</a> in <em>Battlefield: Bad Company.</em> Although the official site has only revealed one of the ways, <a href="http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Gameinfo.Detail&amp;id=289&amp;game=9">Planet Battlefield</a> has outlined all five methods:<br />
<ul>
    <li>QBU88 Sniper Rifle: Pre-order the game online or at any participating retailer. So far we know Gamestop and Amazon are part of this deal.<br /></li>
    <li>UZI Submachine Gun: Download and play the demo</li>
    <li>M60 Light Machine Gun: Sign up for the <em>Battlefield </em>newsletter</li>
    <li>F2000 Assault Rifle: Register your <em>Battlefield </em>soldier name</li>
    <li>USAS12 Shotgun: Check your <em>Bad Company </em>stats online at launch.</li>
</ul>
Is this better than paying a premium? As for the quality of the weapons, our friends at sister site <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/04/02/x3f-tv-battlefield-bad-company-free-v-paid-weapon-stat-comp/">X3F</a> tell us that, at least for the beta, the Uzi and F2000 are noticeably more powerful than their available-at-launch counterparts, while the others feel pretty balanced.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/21/how-to-get-the-five-battlefield-bad-company-dlc-weapons/">How to get the five Battlefield Bad Company DLC weapons</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Apr 2008 09:45:00 EST. Now that we can (almost) put all that negative <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/07/weapon-purchases-result-in-bad-company-boycott/">purchasing in-game weapons</a> talk <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/09/ea-calls-off-paid-weapons-in-bad-company/">aside</a>, we can proudly scream from the rooftops that EA has officially <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/battlefield-bad-company-coming-june-23/">announced</a> that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company</em></a> will release to retailer shelves on June 23rd. Yes, it's acceptable to say that <em>Bad Company </em>has had its fair share of controversy and negative sentiment, but we know some enjoyed the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/20/bad-company-beta-preview-details-and-sign-up/">beta</a> and can look past the game's ... erm, past. But what about you? Will you be a member of <em>Bad Company </em>this June and openly announce your purchase from the rooftops? Well, there's a few catches.<br /><br />Purchasers of the Gold Edition will get access to the weapons almost-instantly (the Gold Edition includes behind-the-scenes bonuses and will retail for $10 more than the standard edition). However, cheapstakes that opt for the standard version will have to earn the weapons by leveling up to the top rank in the online multiplayer. You won't have to pay for it, but you will have to be rather dedicated to get it.<br /><br />This seems like a rather fair trade -- certainly more so than EA's previous offer. While many may simply avoid <em>Bad Company</em> altogether, it's good to see that EA is listening to the fervent demands of gamers everywhere.<br /><br />[Thanks, SharpShooter!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/09/bad-company-boycott-wins-ea-makes-weapons-free/">Bad Company 'boycott' wins, EA makes weapons free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Apr 2008 21:00:00 EST. A few weeks ago <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/EA/">Electronic Arts</a> released news that the exclusive weapons found in the special edition (the Gold Edition as it's called) of <em>Battlefield: Bad Company</em> would be made <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/21/ea-charging-for-weapons-in-bad-company-beta/">available</a> on the Xbox Live Marketplace for a fee. After sending the internet into an expected uproar over the decision that resulted in angry comments from X3F readers, an internet <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/07/weapon-purchases-result-in-bad-company-boycott/">boycott</a> campaign and an analysis of the situation on our own <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/X3FTV/">X3F TV</a>, it seems EA has changed their mind.<br />
<br />
Earlier today in an interview with <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/865/865549p1.html">IGN</a>, Senior Producer at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/DICE/">DICE</a> Karl-Magnus Troedsson spoke the words throngs of FPS fanboys have been waiting to hear. "No, there's no charge for any of the guns in the game. All of the guns in the game can be achieved without purchasing them."<br />
<br />

The developers of <em>Battlefield: Bad Company</em> have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/yes-there-is-a-boycott-of-battlefield-bad-company/#comments">heard the outcry</a> regarding the premium weaponry, both from <a href="http://sarcasticgamer.com/wp/index.php/2008/03/battlefield-bad-company-boycott-video.html">Sarcastic Gamer</a> and <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/04/02/x3f-tv-battlefield-bad-company-free-v-paid-weapon-stat-comp/">other</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/24/ea-explains-battlefield-bcs-pay-to-play-weapons/">outlets</a>. <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/865/865549p1.html">Speaking to IGN</a>, DICE Senior Producer Karl-Magnus Troedsson said there would be no charge for the five guns. Here's how you can get the guns:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Pay $10 for the Gold Edition of the game, have the guns on the disc<br /></li>
    <li>Buy the Standard Edition, hit the max rank level of 25</li>
    <li>In both cases, "You have to do the marketing programs that we're going to announce further ahead" (huh?) before you can get the guns.</li>
</ul>
The last bullet point up there confuses us. What are the marketing programs? Troedsson told IGN there would be five marketing programs from EA that are free and will reportedly be "as easy as signing up for a newsletter." In other words, don't expect the Gold Edition guns on launch day, but know that you can be at rank level 4 and still get access to them at some point.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/04/09/ea-calls-off-paid-weapons-in-bad-company/">X3F</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/09/battlefield-bad-companys-dlc-guns-are-free-but-require-marke/">Battlefield: Bad Company's DLC guns are 'free,' but there's a catch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Apr 2008 20:04:00 EST. We're a bit late on the call to arms, but the movement is still alive and in full force. <a href="http://sarcasticgamer.com/wp/index.php/2008/03/bfbcs-dlc-is-just-plain-bs.html">Sarcastic Gamer</a> has spear-headed a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlefield-bad-company"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company</em></a> boycott that has gathered a bunch of followers who are united in a retail boycott of EA and DICE's upcoming shooter. Why the need for a boycott? Well, it's those oh so controversial weapons that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/24/ea-confirms-bad-company-weapon-purchases/">EA confirmed</a> would have to be purchased separately off the XBLM when the game hits retail. If you agree with and refuse to purchase <em>Bad Company </em>unless EA gets rid of their weapon purchase business plan then join Sarcastic Gamer's boycott by signing their <a href="http://sarcasticgamer.com/wp/index.php/2008/03/bfbcs-dlc-is-just-plain-bs.html">petition</a>, plastering <a href="http://sarcasticgamer.com/wp/index.php/viva-la-resistance">web banners</a> across the internets and watching their <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2y8p2Na-Bo">resistance video</a> on loop at twelve hour intervals. The call to arms has already started, are you signing up?<br />

As quirky as it sounds, we believe to have just discovered our new comedic weak spot ... hopping med kits. That's correct, bunny hopping med kits of jumping extravagance. The <a href="http://www.projectmodgaming.com/">Project Mod Gaming</a> crew captured <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuYZu14qFsc">med kit hopping enjoyment</a> this week while playing the newly released <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/25/reminder-bad-company-beta-begins/"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company </em>beta</a>. And as much as we want to say it isn't a glitch, we have to believe it is. Though, just think of how cool it would be to play the retail build of <em>Bad Company</em> and be able to spring a med kit mid-game, having it bounce around as if a coked up bunny were inside. If that were the case, we'd have no problem being a medic every game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/27/video-bad-companys-hopping-med-kits/">Video: Bad Company's hopping med kits</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Mar 2008 11:45:00 EST.
