Still calling it that?) has reportedly begun <a href="http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/04/25/syfys-highly-anticipated-defiance-commences-production-in-toronto/130848/">production on the pilot of <em>Defiance</em></a>, that previously announced <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/04/25/trion-worlds-explains-how-defiance-will-co-evolve-in-two-mediu/">huge transmedia property in conjunction with Trion Worlds</a>. The idea is that there will be both a TV show and an MMO, and that narratives and actions from each one will intersect in some way with the other. The pilot will star Dexter's Julie Benz, 24's Mia Kirshner, and True Blood's Grant Bowler, and feature writing by David Weddle and Bradley Thompson, and music by Bear McCreary, who all worked together on the popular Battlestar Galactica series.<br /><br />The show will take place on a destroyed future earth, where "human and alien survivors of a universal war" have to work together to build a new society. Trion Worlds (creators of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/rift"><em>Rift</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/end-of-nations"><em>End of Nations</em></a>) is putting the MMO together, and both the game and the TV series are expected out in Spring 2013.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/29/syfy-beings-production-on-tv-side-of-transmedia-defiance/">Syfy begins production on TV side of transmedia 'Defiance'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 29 Apr 2012 10:30:00 EST. Feel like reliving the bizarre twists and turns of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/battlestar-galactica"><em>Battlestar Galactica</em></a> without, you know, <em>actually having to watch it again</em>? <a href="http://www.collegehumor.com/video/6683770/battlestar-galactica-rpg">College Humor</a> has put together a handy (and fake) retro RPG that handily condenses the series' most memorable plot points (and holes). Oh, and: Spoiler warning. <em>Duh</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/06/battlestar-galactica-as-retold-by-a-16-bit-rpg/">Battlestar Galactica, as retold by a 16-bit RPG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Jan 2012 00:15:00 EST. Though the series has been off the air for a few years now, the popularity of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/battlestar-galactica-online"><em>Battlestar Galactica</em></a> is still very much alive in the hearts of Sci-Ficionados across the world. In a recent interview with <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2011-03-23-battlestar-galactica-is-bigpoints-best-ever-game-launch">GamesIndustry</a>, BigPoint CCO Nils-Holger Henning said that the launch of its free-to-play MMO based on the intergalactic television series has had "the best start we've ever had with a game in Bigpoint's history." He expects the title to rake in over &euro;1 million in revenue per month.<br />
<br />
Henning attributed the success of <em>Battlestar Galactica Online</em> to community involvement, saying, "They've been so interested in the brand and what's going to happen with the game." Sure, that's one possible solution. Personally, we think people are flocking to the game after witnessing <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seNkjYyG3gI">mankind's defeat in Jeopardy</a> at the hands of an unfeeling computer, and want to start figuring out how to best fight them in space. This future is <em>real</em>, friends -- it's time to get educated.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/23/battlestar-galactica-online-was-bigpoints-biggest-game-launch/">Battlestar Galactica Online was BigPoint's biggest game launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Mar 2011 19:30:00 EST. Just because the show concluded back in 2009, it doesn't mean you've seen the last of Adama, Leoben and the rest of those zany survivors and the Cylons who chase them. As <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/29/battlestar-galactica-online-jumps-to-open-beta-feb-8/">expected</a>, an open beta for Bigpoint Games' space combat MMO <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/battlestar-galactica-online">Battlestar Galactica Online</a> </em>is currently underway and anyone can play. The beta's available exclusively on <a href="http://www.syfygames.com/accounts/login?redirectUrl=/games/bsgonline">SyFy.com</a> for the next six weeks.<br />
<br />
<em>Battlestar Galactica Online</em> takes place during an unspecified time in the television drama's run, where both Cylon and Colonial forces are trapped in a sector of space, vying for military and resource dominance. Lolcats not included. <br />

Bigpoint Games is getting its space combat MMO based on Syfy's <em>Battlestar Galactica</em> reboot ready for open beta on February 8. Currently in closed beta, the browser-based <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/battlestar-galactica-online">Battlestar Galactica Online</a></em> will let PC and Mac players live out their fantasies of piloting Vipers -- or Cylon Raiders, if you're secretly a toaster -- free-of-charge, with gameplay and cosmetic enhancements available for unlock with <strike>Colonial credits</strike> real cash money.<br />
<br />
The beta will be accessible from the US and Europe via servers located on the West Coast, East Coast and one in the EU. Though the game will include language options for English, French, German, Polish, Turkish Italian, Russian and Spanish, English will be the only dialect permissible in chat. Bigpoint hasn't said wether or not the word "frak" will be filtered.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/29/battlestar-galactica-online-jumps-to-open-beta-feb-8/">Battlestar Galactica Online jumps to open beta Feb. 8</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 29 Jan 2011 00:00:00 EST. Some of us may scoff at a browser-based <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/09/battlestar-galactica-mmo-announced-dont-get-too-frakkin-excit/"><em>Battlestar Galactica </em>MMO</a>, but for those who just want to see <em>something</em> BSG related on a screen, there's hope in the form of the embedded trailer. It shows a large scale space battle between the Cylons and human survivors, and if that doesn't give you the warm fuzzies then you're probably a frakkin' toaster.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/14/battlestar-galactica-online-trailer-is-out-of-this-world/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Battlestar Galactica Online trailer is out of this world</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/14/battlestar-galactica-online-trailer-is-out-of-this-world/">Battlestar Galactica Online trailer is out of this world</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Jun 2010 23:30:00 EST. This is the type of news that just hurts to report: <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/battlestar-galactica"><em>Battlestar Galactica</em></a> is becoming -- wait for it -- a browser-based MMO. <em>We know! </em>It's painful, right? The "game" is being developed by <a href="http://us.bigpoint.com/">Bigpoint</a>, which operates several titles in the genre. <em>Battlestar Galactica Online</em> will infect your internets like a Cylon-based virus sometime this autumn on the Syfy(lis) website for an exclusive 30 day period.<br />
<br />
<em>Battlestar Galactica</em>, and its fans, deserve better. We're not saying they deserve a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/BioWare/">BioWare</a> RPG version of <em>Wing Commander</em> but ... <em>actually</em>, that's exactly what we're saying.<br />

This Saturday, January 23, the PlayStation Store will be updated with a free pilot episode of the new <em>Battlestar Galactica</em> spin-off, <em>Caprica</em>. It's a great way to catch up, in case you miss the first broadcast tonight on SyFy at 9PM. (Of course, you could just watch it right now on <a href="http://www.syfy.com/caprica/">SyFy.com</a>.)<br />
<br />
While you're downloading <em>Caprica</em>, you might want to consider some of the other free TV offerings on the PlayStation Store. Pilot episodes of <a href="http://abc.go.com/shows/the-deep-end"><em>The Deep End</em></a>, a new ABC law drama, and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/shows/buried_life/series.jhtml"><em>The Buried Life</em></a>, a new MTV reality series, can be downloaded right now. There are also seven free webisodes of the Crackle original series <a href="http://crackle.com/c/The_Bannen_Way"><em>The Bannen Way</em></a>. Remember that SD content will play on both your PS3 and PSP, while HD content can only be played on the PS3.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/22/caprica-premiere-lands-on-playstation-store-for-free/">Caprica premiere lands on PlayStation Store for free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jan 2010 11:16:00 EST. The US PlayStation Video Store is having its "First Season Summer Sale." We snagged a couple of minutes with Blizzard's Chris Metzen as he strolled across the BlizzCon floor in search of fresh air and daylight, and we asked him about the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Starcraft-2">voice casting of <em>Battlestar Galactica's</em> Tricia Helfer as Sarah Kerrigan</a> in the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Starcraft-2"><em>Starcraft 2</em></a>, and both expansions as well. They're going to keep her around for awhile. "For the road that Kerrigan will be set upon for the arc of the storyline, I just felt that Tricia had the right depth and emotional resonance that would work one to one," Metzen explained.<br /><br />Metzen himself has done a couple of voices as well, including the "Battlecruiser operational" line from the original <em>Starcraft</em>, and as Thrall in several <em>Warcraft</em> games. Listen to the rest of the audio interview right below, where he talks more about Helfer, and obliges us by doing some of the voices.<br /><object width="290" height="24" type=""application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.weblogsinc.com/media/audio_player.swf"> <param value="http://www.weblogsinc.com/media/audio_player.swf" name="movie" /> <param value="soundFile=http://podcasts.aolcdn.com/joystiq/audio/Helfer.mp3" name="FlashVars" /> <param value="high" name="quality" /> <param value="false" name="menu" /> <param value="transparent" name="wmode" /></object><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/23/blizzcon-2009-chris-metzen-talks-about-casting-tricia-helfer/">BlizzCon 2009: Chris Metzen talks about casting Tricia Helfer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 23 Aug 2009 14:30:00 EST. During a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/starcraft-2"><em>StarCraft 2</em></a> lore panel taking place at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/blizzcon">BlizzCon</a> this weekend, Blizzard vice president of creative development Chris Metzen revealed the voice replacement for Sarah Kerrigan. <em>Battlestar Galactica</em> star <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tricia-helfer">Tricia Helfer</a> will replace Glynnis Talken as voice over actress in the upcoming sequel(s). <br /><br />It seems as though the <em>BSG</em> star is getting her fair share of video game voice over work these days, as she'll also be voicing a character named <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/29/bsgs-tricia-helfer-to-play-dare-in-halo-3-odst/">Dare in </a><em><a href="javascript:void(0);/*1250978577045*/">Halo 3: ODST</a>.</em> We're thinking if she gets to talking with gaming's every man <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nolan-north">Nolan North</a> and they work out a monopoly, we'll have a serious issue on our hands.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/22/blizzcon-2009-bsgs-tricia-helfer-to-voice-starcraft-2s-kerri-1/">BlizzCon 2009: BSG's Tricia Helfer to voice StarCraft 2's Kerrigan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 22 Aug 2009 18:16:00 EST. Listen, we don't have a dude-crush on <em>Battlestar Galactica</em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dark-void"><em>Dark Void</em></a> compose <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bear-mccreary">Bear McCreary</a> -- rather, we have an <em>ear-crush</em> on his musical creations. Once you finally get your hands on Capcom's jetpack-infused action title, you'll understand why -- though during a recent interview with Examiner, McCreary revealed that those who suffer from unbearable jetpackphobia might be able to hear his work on yet another video game in the near future.<br /><br />In <a href="http://www.examiner.com/x-12873-Soundtracks-Examiner~y2009m7d10-Exclusive-Composer-Bear-McCreary-talks-Caprica-Dark-Void-soundtracks-and-Battlestar-Galactica">the Examiner interview</a>, McCreary revealed he's "doing another video game this summer," as well as "a couple other non-science fiction projects [he] can't announce just yet." We hope one of those projects is following us around, composing live musical accompanyment for our every action. We'd just love to hear some sweeping violins as we enjoy our daily bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, you know?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/10/another-video-game-soundtrack-to-suffer-bear-attack/">Another video game soundtrack to suffer Bear attack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Jul 2009 21:15:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlestar+galactica"><em>Battlestar Galactica</em></a> and gaming culture seem to go together like carrots, celery and onion (what, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirepoix_(cuisine)">mirepoix</a> too fancy for ya?). And so it's with little shock that we bring you the screen you see above from the upcoming <em>Battlestar Galactica</em> spin-off series, <em>Caprica</em>, captured by a gracious Joystiq reader. Is that ... Cloud? Cloud Strife? It is! Well, sorta, kinda.<br /><br />Though the show isn't set to air until the beginning of next year on the <strike>Sci-Fi</strike> Syfy Channel, the two-hour pilot premiered via DVD and non-analog download this past week. Clearly the show's writers and/or set designers ... err ... <em>someone</em> on the set, decided to show their love for the critically acclaimed game and drop an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/easter-egg">Easter egg</a> into the pilot in the form of <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-vii/"><em>Final Fantasy VII</em></a>'s protagonist. And while the image is a cartoony representation of the sharp-haired young gentleman, we'd be hard-pressed to not recognize that stance <em>anywhere</em>.<br /><br />[Thanks, Thomas P.!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/25/ff7s-cloud-spotted-in-bsg-spin-off-caprica/">FF7's Cloud spotted in BSG spin-off, Caprica</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 25 Apr 2009 19:30:00 EST. The hit Sci-Fi (er, <a href="http://www.aoltv.com/tag/syfy">SyFy</a>) series, Battlestar Galactica, is finally coming to Blu-ray. The show made a brief appearance on the now-defunct HD DVD format, but Blu-ray fans have been left in the cold for quite some time. Online retailer <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001993Y2C?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;link_code=as3&amp;camp=211189&amp;creative=373489&amp;creativeASIN=B001993Y2C">amazon.com</a> recently started taking pre-orders on the box set, which appears to include all four seasons, for a MSRP of $349.98 (thankfully, most retailers don't actually sell media at MSRP).<br /><br />The <em>Caprica</em> DVD supposedly includes a promo for the complete series on Blu-ray. According to <a href="http://www.thehdroom.com/news/Caprica_DVD_Confirms_Blu-ray_Battlestar_Galactica_Complete_Series/4575">TheHDRoom</a>, the box set is pegged for a July 28th date, so sci-fi geeks willl want to start saving up pretty soon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/20/battlestar-galactica-the-complete-series-coming-to-blu-ray-this/">Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series coming to Blu-ray this year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Apr 2009 14:00:00 EST. Hey, guy -- what's the matter? We've noticed you've been looking positively sullen these past few weeks. Has the series departure of <em>Battlestar Galactica</em> got you down in the frakking dumps? There's not much we can do about that, though your spirits may be lifted by checking out a <a href="http://www.bearmccreary.com/blog/?p=1833">recent blog post</a> from <em>Battlestar</em> composer Bear McCreary, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/02/dark-void-scored-by-battlestar-galacticas-bear-mccreary/">recently revealed songsmith</a> behind the score of <em>Dark Void</em>. His blog contains a video (posted after the jump) previewing a few clips from the game's soundtrack, which is shaping up to <em>sound</em> just as awesome <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/17/joystiq-e3-hands-on-dark-void/">as the title <em>looks</em></a>.<br /><br />If soaring orchestral tunes aren't really your thing, you might still want to check out the preview for a few new <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Dark%20Void">Dark Void</a></em> gameplay clips. Then again, if you've yet to be swept off your feet (and propelled hundreds of feet into the air) by Capcom's jet pack-centric action title, you may be entertained by McCreary's declaration of love for <em>Mega Man</em> -- any composer who creates 8-bit versions of their pieces then saves them on hard drives named after <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot_Master"><em>Robot Masters</em></a> is okay in our books.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/06/battlestar-galactica-composer-previews-music-for-dark-void/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Battlestar Galactica composer previews music for Dark Void</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/06/battlestar-galactica-composer-previews-music-for-dark-void/">Battlestar Galactica composer previews music for Dark Void</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Apr 2009 13:02:00 EST. Capcom has outed TV's Battlestar Galactica composer Bear McCreary as a sign-on ... for third-person jetpack-em-up, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dark-void"><em>Dark Void</em></a>. McCreary will create the soundtrack for the Airtight Studios-developed shooter, which is slated to launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC later this year. <br /></div>
<br />"I have been looking for the opportunity to compose a game score for a long time, but I've been waiting for the right one," said McCreary, who is held in high regards by fans of the recently departed <strike>syfy</strike> sci-fi show. He noted that <em>Dark Void</em>'s "epic story and unique gameplay" drew him in, a somewhat generic admission that only serves to highlight a terrible injustice. Not only will he score <em>Dark Void</em>, but he'll probably <em>score</em> an early copy too.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/02/dark-void-scored-by-battlestar-galacticas-bear-mccreary/">Dark Void scored by Battlestar Galactica's Bear McCreary</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Apr 2009 12:13:00 EST. Tonight we begin saying our last goodbyes to <em>Battlestar Galactica</em>. She was a sturdy show that evolved the space opera and gave us plenty of thrills, drama and frakking over the years. Although we hold out hope for <em><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0799862/">Caprica</a></em>, we'll certainly miss the adventures of humanity's last survivors. We'll miss you <em>Galactica</em> ... but we still got no love for those ridiculously long breaks between seasons. Hugs. Let's see what everyone's playing ...<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/13/wrup-all-frakking-things-must-come-to-an-end/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WRUP: All frakking things must come to an end</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/13/wrup-all-frakking-things-must-come-to-an-end/">WRUP: All frakking things must come to an end</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Mar 2009 21:30:00 EST. You don't need to read any further. <a href="http://www.aoltv.com/category/battlestar-galactica"><em>Battlestar Galactica</em></a> is now available on the PlayStation Store. Each episode will be available in SD and HD, with future episodes arriving on the Store one day after its televised broadcast.<br /><br />Oh, and the video store has also expanded to include other shows and movies from the NBC/Universal line-up, such as <em>The Office</em>, <em>30 Rock</em>, <em>Heroes</em>, <em>The 40 Year Old Virgin</em> and <em>Milk</em>. SD content can be downloaded to both a PS3 and PSP, while HD content is for the PS3 only.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/10/battlestar-galactica-and-other-nbc-shows-now-available-on-the/">Battlestar Galactica (and other NBC shows) now available on the PlayStation Store</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 Mar 2009 17:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/high-voltage">High Voltage</a> just shot over a press release informing us that they've got a couple of notable individuals lending their voice to the upcoming Wii FPS, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-conduit"><em>The Conduit</em></a>. The voice of the main character. Mr. Ford, will be done by Mark A. Sheppard. Not familiar? He <a href="http://blogs.chron.com/tubular/archives/2007/03/the_trials_of_g_1.html">defended Gaius Baltar</a>!<br /><br />Another Sheppard (father, to be exact) is also in on the project. William Morgan Sheppard will be voicing the character John Adams. William <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0792003/">has done plenty</a> of video game voice work before, as well as TV and film. <br /><br />Third, but certainly not least, is none other than <a href="http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kevin+sorbo+hercules&amp;search_type=">Hercules</a> himself, Kevin Sorbo. He'll be voicing the bad guy/terrorist dude in all of this, Prometheus. <br /><br /><br />[Via press release]<font face="Times New Roman" size="3"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"></span></font><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/14/high-voltage-enlists-hollywood-voice-talent-for-the-conduit/">High Voltage enlists Hollywood voice talent for The Conduit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 Oct 2008 17:22:00 EST. When <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/13/welcome-to-2000-dvd-video-playback-enabled-via-homebrew/">the news broke yesterday</a> about the Mplayer homebrew application, we were quick to try it out for ourselves. Surprisingly, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/13/want-to-watch-dvds-on-your-wii-let-us-show-you-how/">it wasn't that hard</a> and before you knew it, we were enjoying the Battlestar Galactica DVD you see above. But what about you all? Did you check it out for yourself? Let your voice be heard in our poll past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/14/wii-fanboy-poll-watch-any-dvds-on-your-wii/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii Fanboy poll: Watch any DVDs on your Wii?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/14/wii-fanboy-poll-watch-any-dvds-on-your-wii/">Wii Fanboy poll: Watch any DVDs on your Wii?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 14 Aug 2008 14:45:00 EST. We were so angry with the Writer's Guild of America strike back when it was messing up <em>Lost</em>, <em>24</em> and <strike><em>Ugly Betty</em></strike><em> </em><em>...</em> <em>The Daily Show</em>. Now though, we in the video game industry (and appreciators of it) are reaping the rewards with a lot of upcoming games' scripts having come from the pens of some very talented folk. The latest example is <em>Aliens: Colonial Marines, </em>which Gearbox's Randy Pitchford recently told ShackNews was being written by <em>Battlestar Galactica</em>'s Bradley Thompson and David Weddle.<br /><br />Does that mean we can expect the aliens to [insert <em>BSG</em> fan service gag here] or a head marine voiced by [some <em>BSG</em> actor guy goes here]? Also, does it mean that Justin should watch <em>Battlestar</em> if he's going to be posting about it? Yes. Yes it does.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/battlestar-scribes-working-on-aliens-colonial-marines/">Battlestar scribes working on Aliens: Colonial Marines</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Jul 2008 12:30:00 EST. NBC/Universal will be joining the over 10,000 movies and television shows currently available on Xbox Live Marketplace, as they're releasing content today. This Friday marks the debut of the <a href="http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/">final season</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/battlestargalactica/"><em>Battlestar Galactica</em></a>, and while we have no delusions that the 60 minutes of commercial interrupted TV will leave us any more stupefied than we were at the end of last season wondering what in the <em>frak </em>is going on, we nonetheless cannot wait to pick our jaws up off the floor. <br /><br />To celebrate the premiere, Sierra has chopped the price of its casual <em>BSG</em>-themed XBLA shooter in half to 400 points, and while playing the game still just serves as a painful reminder that we still lack a real <em>Battlestar Galactica</em> game, the new price is nonetheless a welcome treat. But get it while it's hot; the toasters are going to jack the price back up to 800 points 24 hours later. So say we all!<br />

Entry into the sweepstakes is super easy, just make your way <a href="http://promos.vugames.com/bsg_50k/">here</a>, fill out the tiny entry form and POOF! You're entered. The sweeps runs through November 2008 where every month they'll award one winner 50,000 Microsoft points (although the official rules says 52,000). And don't worry about re-entering every month, because one entry will do and roll-over each time. And while you're at it, try and <a href="http://promos.vugames.com/bsg_ftl2la/">win a trip to LA</a> too.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/08/enter-for-a-chance-at-50-000-msft-points/">Enter for a chance at 50,000 MSFT points</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Nov 2007 17:30:00 EST. The latter provides sci-fi fans with a much needed <em>something</em> (or so we're told), while the former gives us a stylish, old school logic puzzler (oddly described as "pazzle action" in its dashboard description). So, you can either blast the Cylons to hell, or you can help various strangers escape there precarious predicaments. The choice is yours. We should probably note that either choice will set you back 800 MS Points.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/24/exit-and-battlestar-galactica-on-xbla/">Exit and Battlestar Galactica on XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 24 Oct 2007 09:35:00 EST. And good old Microsoft hasn't let us down, <a href="http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2007/10/22/554115.aspx">announcing</a> that both <em><a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/b/battlestargalacticaxboxlivearcade/default.htm">Battlestar Galactica</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/e/exitxboxlivearcade/default.htm">Exit</a></em> will release to the Arcade masses this Wednesday.<br /><br /><em>Battlestar Galactica</em> will cost you 800 Microsoft points and feature lots of nostalgic <em>Battlestar Galactica</em> fighting moments, single and multiplayer gameplay and pretty much top off your <em>Battlestar Galactica</em> fanboy cup of excitement. The other 800 Microsoft point Arcade release, <em>Exit</em>, comes from TAITO Corporation and is a single player puzzle game with over 200 levels of fun that puts you in control of a hero named "Mr. ESC". And with a name like Mr. ESC you can almost guarantee that the level of corniness will be cranked up to twelve. But that's it for Arcade announcements today, now the only thing left for you to do is prepare for <em>Battlestar Galactica Exit</em>'nicity this Wednesday.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/22/battlestar-galactica-and-exit-set-for-xbla-release/">Battlestar Galactica and Exit set for XBLA release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 22 Oct 2007 12:30:00 EST. So, don't expect any pithy in-jokes in this post. At least, don't expect any about <em>Battlestar Galactica</em>. So, let's just get to the meat then: <em>Battlestar Galactica</em> is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/18/battlestar-galactica-escapes-to-pc-and-xbla-next-week/">making its way</a> to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla/">Xbox Live Arcade</a> next Wednesday. The game will feature 10 single-player missions as well as a multiplayer component that supports up to 8 players on Xbox Live. The single-player campaign features battles taken from the show, while the multiplayer allows players to dog it out as one of 8 different Human or Cylon ships (4 of each). <em>Battlestar Galactica</em> will be available for 800 MS Points.<br /><br />Finally, they'll have something new to talk about on <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pT880fWAENs"><em>Battlestar Galactica</em> Forum</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/19/battlestar-galactica-next-week-on-xbla/">Battlestar Galactica next week on XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Oct 2007 11:15:00 EST. So, enough of the fluff let's get to the goods. Sierra's bountiful and very diverse Winter XBLA lineup includes a 3D space shooter called <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/826/826303p1.html"><em>Aces of the Galaxy</em></a>, a mystical hack, hack, slash slasher called <em><a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/826/826258p1.html">Arkadian Warriors</a></em>, the TV based <em><a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/826/826261p1.html">Battlestar Galactica</a></em>, a puzzling bunny game called <em><a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/826/826352p1.html">Boogie Bunnies</a></em>, a casual gamer's RTS <em><a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/825/825168p1.html">Commanders: Attack of the Genos</a></em>, and finally <em><a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/825/825150p1.html">Switchball</a></em>. See, we told you it was a diverse group of games. You can check out IGN's hands-on take of each Arcade title as well as screenshots and video from each game after the jump. And with such an interesting lineup of adventure, sci-fi, shooter and action based games we can't help but be most excited to play <em>Boogie Bunnies</em>. Dancing bunnies ... what more can we say?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/11/sierras-ambitious-winter-xbla-plans/">Sierra's ambitious Winter XBLA plans</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Oct 2007 17:15:00 EST.
