Once again, Steam's offering an awfully big discount on Games Workshop's curious fantasy football title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/blood-bowl"><em>Blood Bowl</em></a>. If you haven't grabbed it during a similar promotion in the past, you can pick up the violent (well, more violent) version of the sport for $8.00 today.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/29/steam-cuts-blood-bowl-down-to-8-today/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Steam cuts Blood Bowl down to $8 today</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/29/steam-cuts-blood-bowl-down-to-8-today/">Steam cuts Blood Bowl down to $8 today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Nov 2011 17:30:00 EST. For those who like their fantasy football league to be significantly more fantastical, Steam has reduced the price of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/03/blood-bowl-legendary-edition-coming-to-pc-in-2010/"><em>Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition</em></a> for the weekend. The usual $40 price has been sacked, knocking it down to $10. Blitz this deal quick -- it ends on Monday and there won't be overtime.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/08/steam-kicks-off-30-from-blood-bowl-price-this-weekend/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Steam kicks off $30 from Blood Bowl price this weekend</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/08/steam-kicks-off-30-from-blood-bowl-price-this-weekend/">Steam kicks off $30 from Blood Bowl price this weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Apr 2011 03:00:00 EST. One of the twelve new races to be introduced in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/blood-elves"><em>Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition</em></a> is the typically cerebral High Elves, pictured below. Sorry, but they shouldn't be any good at football. Not because they're so darn brainy, but because they're built like extremely tacklable stalks of wheat.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/23/blood-bowl-legendary-editions-high-elf-team-revealed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition's High Elf team revealed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/23/blood-bowl-legendary-editions-high-elf-team-revealed/">Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition's High Elf team revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 23 Oct 2010 19:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/blood-bowl"><em>Blood Bowl</em></a>, you'll remember, is the wacky little mash-up between fantasy and American football that's based on the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/games-workshop">Games Workshop</a> turn-based board game, taking place in the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warhammer_Fantasy_%28setting%29"><em>Warhammer</em> setting</a>. It's been tearing up the field since last year, but at the end of 2010, Cyanide and Focus Home Interactive are upping the ante with the newly announced Legendary Edition for the PC.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.bloodbowl-game.com/index.php?rub=news-info&amp;id=158">The Legendary Edition</a> will add 12 new races to the current eight, so Undead, Amazons, Ogres and others will all get to toss the boarskin around in new stadiums and tournaments. The game will also include a story mode in which players will assume the role of a freelance coach tasked with rising up through the ranks. Sounds like fun.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/03/blood-bowl-legendary-edition-coming-to-pc-in-2010/">Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition coming to PC in 2010</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 03 Apr 2010 03:15:00 EST. After previously appearing as a downloadable PC game, fantasy footballer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/blood-bowl"><em>Blood Bowl</em></a> will come to Xbox 360 and PSP, with an additional retail version on PC, courtesy of SouthPeak. The <em>Warhammer-</em>inspired game will take the field in January on 360 and PC, followed by the PSP in the more nebulous "Spring."<br />
<br />
Now's the time we turn the post over to your comments, and we can't wait to see what you have to say. We're sure <em>someone</em> has to be offended by this release constellation.<br />

It does provide us with a taste of the color commentary that will frame the many conflicts taking place in the soon-to-be-bloody bowls, though. There's even a brief look at the many different races and squads that will take to the field in this most literal fantasy football title. In terms of quantity, it looks like the amount of teams will be somewhere between <em>a lot</em> and <em>a whole freakin' lot</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/19/blood-bowl-trailer-everything-but-a-blood-bath/">Blood Bowl trailer everything but a blood bath</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Jun 2009 04:00:00 EST. If you're a fan of tabletop war games, you're probably hotly anticipating Cyanide's video game adaptation of Games Workshop's classic fantasy-football mash-up, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Blood%20Bowl">Blood Bowl</a></em>. You are also probably <em>pretty</em> old, and have a large, curly beard. Likely a gray or white beard, due to the aforementioned elderliness.<br /><br />We've got great news for these senescent war game enthusiasts -- in a <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/games-workshop-has-forgotten-ip-to-plunder">recent interview with Eurogamer</a>, Cyanide's Antoine Villepreux explained the developer would be glad to tend to Games Workshop's "forgotten IPs that we think deserve video game adaptations." If the words<em> <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inquisitor_(game)">Inquisitor</a> </em></em>and<em> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mighty_Empires"><em>Mighty Empires</em></a> </em>bring haste to your <em>old</em>, <em>old</em> heart, a table-to-TV adaptation of your favorite Games Workshop franchises might be within the realm of possibilities<em>.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/30/blood-bowl-dev-wants-to-work-on-games-workshops-forgotten-ips/">Blood Bowl dev wants to work on Games Workshop's 'forgotten IPs'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 30 Apr 2009 03:30:00 EST. If you're a PS3-only gamer who happens to be a fan of vintage tabletop gaming, monsters, and football, then you are probably <em>acutely</em>, painfully aware of the lack of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/30/new-blood-bowl-trailer-pits-rats-against-lizards/"><em>Blood Bowl</em></a> video games in your future. Cyanide is making an Xbox 360 version -- why not use the same assets and codebase for the PS3 like so many others? What's the deal? Does it hate the PS3 or something?<br /><br />In an interview with Destructoid, the developer explained its apparent snub on the platform. "Cyanide is a small company," a representative said. "We have no previous experience on that platform [and] it would have been a bit risky and expensive for us. But, we are hoping to do a PS3 version if the game is selling well."<br /><br />So, rather than a lack of faith in the platform, Cyanide has somewhat of a lack of faith in its own ability to <em>develop</em> for it without killing the budget. It still means no PS3 version for now, but it <em>also</em> means no janky, poorly ported PS3 version for now. That's ... <em>something. </em>And if the other versions of the game, coming out in Q2 of this year, are successful, we may see a (good) PS3 version yet.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.vg247.com/2009/02/08/blood-bowl-ps3-dev-too-risky-says-cyanide/">VG247</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/09/blood-bowl-developer-making-ps3-version-a-bit-risky-and-expens/">Blood Bowl developer: making PS3 version 'a bit risky and expensive'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Feb 2009 09:00:00 EST. Like you, we've spent a good deal of time in our backyards, wrangling together neighborhood mice and lizards and forcing them to play miniature games of football. Now, a new trailer for the video game re-imagining of tabletop favorite <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/blood-bowl"><em>Blood Bowl</em></a> looks to bring that fun indoors, as the rat-like Skaven skitter about down field against brutish Lizardmen. That's something you won't see in Sunday's big game.<br /><br />In development at Cyanide Studio, <em>Blood Bowl </em>is expected to take the field for the PC, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and PSP in the second quarter of 2009. Finally, we'll be able to settle the age old question of which is better at tossing around the pigskin: reptiles or stupid, stupid rat creatures.<br /><br />

Tabletop gamers are no strangers to the game <em>Blood Bowl</em>, which we mentioned <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/14/cyanide-confirms-blood-bowl-for-xbox-360-psp-ds/">back in November</a>. The game has spanned 22 years, multiple editions and several expansion sets. The basic concept is "fantasy" football, literally. As in orcs, trolls, elves and the like playing an organized team sport where they try to tear their opponents' heads off. Check out the newly released, <span style="font-style: italic;">Warcraft</span>-tastic trailer after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/25/blood-bowl-trailer-channels-madden-warcraft/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Blood Bowl trailer channels Madden + Warcraft</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/25/blood-bowl-trailer-channels-madden-warcraft/">Blood Bowl trailer channels Madden + Warcraft</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Jun 2008 23:15:00 EST. <div align="left">No doubt a whole bunch of you have been itchy to get your hands on something new regarding the upcoming title<em> Blood Bowl</em>. No? Well tough, we've got a newly released video to watch and you're going to sit there and like it. Unless you don't. Obviously there's no gameplay in this teaser trailer but it does a good job of introducing you to the world of <em>Blood Bowl</em>. <br /><br />If you don't already know, it's a Games Workshop (tabletop gaming) game which sees Humans, Orcs and Elves compete in a brutal version of American Football. There's combat and magic and all sorts of strange stuff you don't see in normal American Football. Sounds like it good make a decent video, but we'll have to wait to see it in action to make any judgments there. Check out the teaser trailer on the <a href="http://www.bloodbowl-game.com/teaser/"><em>Blood Bowl </em>website</a>.</div>

The thing about <a href="http://www.strategyinformer.com/xbox360/bloodbowl/screenshots.html">this news</a> is that the game's distribution medium has not yet been announced. With the game seeing release on the handhelds, one can't see this title being very in-depth. But if the game is not very deep, one can't see it being a full release either. Will this end up being an XBLA title, or will it end up be closer to another recent release that had the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/namco-invites-you-to-pwn-them-at-culdcept-saga/">graphical prowess of an XBLA game</a>? The only obstacle to Arcade release we can see would be the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/30/capcom-having-issues-with-ssf2thdrs-file-size/">file size</a>. Anyway if it's an XBLA game thats great, we could always use more <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/11/commanders-attack-of-genos-screens-aplenty/">turn based strategy</a> on there. Plus, the game has a real-time mode as well in case turn-based combat isn't really your thing.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/13/a-host-of-blood-bowl-screens/">A host of Blood Bowl screens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 Feb 2008 15:15:00 EST. No, in fact it's a <em>video game</em>. Imagine that? Arriving courtesy of French developer Cyanide, <em>Blood Bowl </em>is a title based on the Games Workshop fantasy tabletop game of the same name. Cyanide assures us that the game will be a "faithful representation" of the tabletop experience, so fans should find their title intact on the DS, barring any unforeseen circumstances.<br /><br />If you want to check out some of the many versions of the tabletop game, hit up <a href="http://www.boardgamegeek.com/metasearch.php?searchtype=game&amp;search=blood+bowl&amp;B1=Go">this link here</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/14/cyanide-confirms-blood-bowl-for-xbox-360-psp-ds/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/blood-bowl-isnt-just-a-vampires-breakfast/">Blood Bowl isn't just a vampire's breakfast</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 14:50:00 EST.
