The founding of a nation is pretty significant and well worth getting excited about. The best way to display said excitement is, of course, with massive, colorful airborne explosions, a.k.a. fireworks. Tomorrow night, towns across the USA will be putting on fireworks displays, big and small -- but why should you have to wait for it to get dark? The games you'll find after the break will let you get all explode-y from the comfort of your living room, without the charred mess and frantic 911 call. So, put on your favorite patriotic tune (it's "The Stars & Stripes Forever" for us) and make with the clicking!

To get your online leaderboard search on, simply make your way to either the Geometry Wars leaderboard or Boom Boom Rocket leaderboard pages on Bizarre's offiicial website and you're in. Once there, you'll be able to view leaderboards for each game and even search for own gamertag to see where you fit in the mix. You'll also be able to fully comprehend how horrible you are at video games and how sad your "high scores" really are. Personally, we think anyone who scored higher than us on Geometry Wars cheated. They're all just a big group of cheaters ..
Geo Wars and BBR leaderboards now online originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 29 Apr 2008 16:00:00 EST. And we use the terminology "will release", because the content has yet to appear on the Marketplace, though Bizarre promises a Thursday release.

The new Boom Boom Rocket "Rock Pack" content will include five new musical tracks ("Sting of the Bumble Bee", "Explode to Joy", "Sugar High", "Eine Kleine Rochtmusik" and "Cannon in D") and feature fifteen additional fireworks that can be unlocked. But guys, we saved the best news for last. The new "Rock Pack" will be offered as a FREE download through December 16th after which it'll revert to 250 Microsoft points. Explode to joy indeed!
Boom Boom Rocket to get explosive Rock Pack DLC originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 29 Nov 2007 11:30:00 EST. Because clearly, a music game simply isn't complete until it can turn mild-mannered button pushers into gyrating vessels of awkwardness. Not that we mind -- we're quite eager to stomp our way through Bizarre Creations' fun rocket-based rhythmer again. In a recent studio update, Bizarre reveals a new Xbox Live Arcade title update for Boom Boom Rocket has made its way through the certification gauntlet, bringing with it the following changes (the most important ones highlighted):

Guitar and dance pad peripheral support.

Japanese and Korean language support.

Tweaked scoring system focusing only on accuracy.

The huge loud "noise" which popped up occasionally on endurance mode is now gone.

Occurrences of scores getting overwritten with a lower score when playing with 2 profiles signed in is now fixed.

Display updates when viewing the game through a VGA cable.

Friends leaderboard now shows extra information such as grade, accuracy, etc.

Multiplayer endurance mode fix for player colors swapping sporadically.

Slightly bigger and better explosions.

Now if we could just get our arthritic hands on some new downloadable songs (actual music this time, please), we'll really see some fireworks.

[Via 1UP]
Boom Boom Rocket update adds guitar, dance pad support originally appeared on Joystiq on Wed, 07 Nov 2007 20:45:00 EST.
