And only ten years after the system's contemporary, the Dreamcast, was packed into a <a href="http://gameswag.com/view/fuji-television-divers-2000-series-cx-1-dreamcast/">Fuji TV</a>.<br />
<br />
The budget-focused (okay, maybe it's not all that Sony-like) Bravia KDL-22PX300 includes 720p output, four HDMI ports ... and a PS2. We bet you can't guess where the PS2 hardware is in that sleek, sleek design. The set's currently <a href="http://www.richersounds.com/product/lcd-tv/sony/bravia-kdl22px300/sony-kdl22px300">available</a> in the UK for &pound;199.95 (about $312).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/03/new-bravia-tv-includes-ps2-hardware/">New Bravia TV includes PS2 hardware</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Dec 2010 10:07:00 EST. A Best Buy employee and Sony spokesperson Kevin Butler (both of which shall henceforth colloquially referred to as "Best Butler") recently appeared an <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/11/30/it-only-does-unstoppable-deals/">a new PS3 ad</a> announcing a pretty sound deal for you 3D-seekers out there. The retailer is <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Electronics+Promotions/regularCat%3Apcmcat227100050017/pcmcat227100050017.c?id=pcmcat227100050017&amp;DCMP=rdr1430">currently offering</a> a trio of bundles featuring Bravia HDTVs and 160GB PlayStation 3s, equipped with <em>Gran Turismo 5</em> and <em>Grown Ups</em> on Blu-ray. Two of these bundles feature televisions that are 3D-ready, while all of the bundles knock over $1,100 off the combined prices of the products therein. That's not bad for a retailer that isn't, you know, Amazon.<br />
<br />
Click past the jump to see what the three bundles offer, and to see the ever-giggle-inducing Best Butler shill his employer's wares.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/30/best-buy-bundling-ps3-with-bravia-3dtvs-and-slashing-prices/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Best Buy bundling PS3 with Bravia 3DTVs, and slashing prices</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/30/best-buy-bundling-ps3-with-bravia-3dtvs-and-slashing-prices/">Best Buy bundling PS3 with Bravia 3DTVs, and slashing prices</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Nov 2010 19:30:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;"><strong>Dateline: Tomorrow</strong></div>
<br />
What's up, June 9th? It's your buddies from Joystiq, coming to you direct from the <em>future</em>: June 10th. It's incredible here, what with all the Floatshoes and the Hoverplanes (long story) but the best innovation? Stereoscopic 3D gaming on the PS3 <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/06/09/the-ultimate-3d-gaming-experience-stereoscopic-3d-gaming-on-playstation-3-available-tomorrow/?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=3d_gaming_060910">kicked off today</a>, with <em>WipEout HD, PAIN</em>, <em>Super Stardust HD </em>and the <em>MotorStorm: Pacific Rift</em> demo all going three-dimensional. <br />
<br />
Sadly, the effect's only available with a <a href="http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10551&amp;storeId=10151&amp;langId=-1&amp;categoryId=8198552921644726498&amp;default_filters=3d|ready_3d~3d|integrated_3d&amp;default_form=EXPLORE#filterAnchor">dauntingly expensive 3D TV set</a>, so the unwashed, dimensionally-starved masses have turned on their rich counterparts, starting a bloody class war. As if that weren't bad enough, all those new Bravia owners get the aforementioned games <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/15/3d-ps3-games-coming-to-psn-in-june-4-free-with-bravia-purchases/">for free</a>, so ... yeah, it's not pretty.<br />
<br />
Oh well, at least we've got the 3D-enhanced Move game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/16/the-fight-lights-out-promises-60fps-fighting-on-the-move/"><em>The Fight: Lights Out</em></a> and 3D Blu-ray playback to look forward to later this year!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/09/stereoscopic-3d-coming-to-ps3-tomorrow/">Stereoscopic 3D coming to PS3 tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Jun 2010 15:25:00 EST. If you're looking to ditch your old HDTV in favor of Sony's HX803-series Bravia 3D TV, due to arrive in Europe this June, you'll receive <a href="http://uk.playstation.com/psn/news/articles/detail/item274349/Experience-the-3D-entertainment-revolution/?site_locale=en_GB">four free 3D PlayStation 3 games</a>. It's not explicit whether the "free collection" will be comprised PSN codes or compiled on a disc, but the promotional titles, including <em>WipEout HD, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, PAIN</em> and <em>Super Stardust HD, </em>will also be made available on PSN at the same time. <br />
<br />
We're following up with Sony America about whether it plans to have a similar promotion in the same timeframe. We'll be sure to update in glorious 2D text if it does.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/15/3d-ps3-games-coming-to-psn-in-june-4-free-with-bravia-purchases/">3D PS3 games coming to PSN in June, 4 free with Bravia purchases</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 Apr 2010 11:18:00 EST. Here's an example of the sway RPG characters hold in Japan: A writer for <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2009/12/18/ffxiii_tv">AndriaSang</a> spotted <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy XIII</em></a>'s Lightning hocking TVs in a Japanese electronics store. Her favorite model? Why, the Sony Bravia, of course.<br />
<br />
Do what you will, but, speaking from experience, if you start making your purchasing decisions based on the whims of computer-generated characters you end up buying a crate of New Coke solely on the recommendation of Max Headroom. Trust us on this one.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/21/final-fantasy-xiii-and-bravia-feel-the-synergy/">Final Fantasy XIII and Bravia -- feel the synergy!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Dec 2009 16:15:00 EST. Dear Mr. Larson,<br /> <br /> Congratulations! With your recent purchase of our <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/02/11/sonys-bravia-kdl-46v5100-lcd-hdtv-goes-on-sale/">46-inch Bravia KDL46X 3100 LCD TV</a>, you're eligible to receive a free PlayStation 3 -- provided you haven't changed your address, and still live in Australia. Funny story: You're actually the last person that's eligible to receive the free console with the TV's purchase. "Lucky Number 25,000," we've been calling you around the office. I'm running to the stockroom right now, so I can ship your console and television to you <em>personally</em>, along with a very heartfelt letter of gratitude.<br /> <br /> <em>Oh, crap</em>. Listen, Mr. Larson -- I might have forgotten something ... <em>important</em>. See, to promote this offer, we <em>may</em> have <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/21/ps3-crashes-into-bravia-tv-at-50-mph-for-fun-and-profit-video/">flung the last PlayStation 3 <em>into</em> your Bravia television</a> at 50 mph. By "may have flung," of course, I mean "totally did fling." If it makes you feel any better, it was a <em>really</em> good ad (check it out after the jump)! Very thought-provoking, and even a little cheeky. Just know that your television and video game console died for a worthwhile cause. (What? No! <em>Of course</em> there are no refunds. Don't be silly.)<br /> <br /> Love, <br /> Sony Australia.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/21/sony-australia-flings-a-ps3-into-a-bravia-technophiles-cringe/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony Australia flings a PS3 into a Bravia, technophiles cringe</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/21/sony-australia-flings-a-ps3-into-a-bravia-technophiles-cringe/">Sony Australia flings a PS3 into a Bravia, technophiles cringe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Oct 2009 11:30:00 EST. Starting this fall, owners of internet-enabled Bravia televisions will be able to -- blah, blah, blah. Seriously, the Bravia! Clearly there's something up here and we're thinking it has more than a little something to do with a concept gamers are well versed in: the timed exclusive.<br /><br />It's a reasonable explanation, considering we've seen the idea of Netflix <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/23/rumorang-survey-suggesting-netflix-on-wii-returns/">alluded to for the Wii</a> and this Bravia thing is about as silly as it gets. When asked for comment, Sony listed several media options it currently provides for the PS3 (full statement after the break), but currently had nothing to announce about Netflix on the console. We're currently awaiting comment from Netflix, but if the company <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/13/netflix-job-posting-hints-at-movie-streaming-for-other-consoles/">stays the course</a>, it'll be something like: "Netflix is always looking for ways to expand its service, but for now our game platform is the Xbox 360."<br /><br />[Thanks, Protofunc; Via <a href="http://news.digitaltrends.com/news-article/20365/netflix-skips-the-playstation-3-and-lands-on-sony-bravia-tvs">DigitalTrends</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/09/netflix-comes-to-sonys-bravia-tvs-ps3-befuddled/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Netflix comes to Sony's Bravia TVs; PS3 befuddled</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/09/netflix-comes-to-sonys-bravia-tvs-ps3-befuddled/">Netflix comes to Sony's Bravia TVs; PS3 befuddled</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Jul 2009 16:15:00 EST. Never one to miss an opportunity for a video comparison, <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/31022.html">Gametrailers whipped up the above video</a>. And their monthly feature has been going fine until recently, when they contacted Sony to get a Bravia HDTV for a review in their next issue. Let's just say Sony didn't want any part of the review.<br /><br />Upon giving the Sony Bravia folks a ring, OXM was taken aback to hear that they <a href="http://www.oxmonline.com/article/xbox-soapbox/sony-doesnt-want-your-money">refused</a> to send them a Bravia to review due to OXM's affiliation with the Xbox 360 platform. They're probably scared that a magazine with "Xbox" in their name would be biased towards a Sony brand TV. Funny thing is, OXM's Dan Amrich owns a Bravia set and loves it to death. Snap! So, OXM didn't get a Bravia HDTV and thus no review will get published. We guess Sony Bravia doesn't want Xbox 360 fanboys to purchase their televisions. Sucks for them.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/22/sony-refuses-to-let-oxm-review-bravia-hdtv/">Sony refuses to let OXM review Bravia HDTV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 22 Dec 2007 10:45:00 EST. A PSP commercial that's pretty straightforward and doesn't leave us <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/02/psp-ads-continue-to-entertain/">scratching our heads</a> or just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/04/sony-tells-teens-dude-get-your-own-psp/">completely embarrassed</a>? Apparently so, as the first Japanese <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PSP-2000">PSP-2000</a> TV commercial is making its rounds.<br /><br />The commercial zeros in on the new PSP's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/06/joystiq-and-pspfb-hands-on-psp-2000-part-3/">TV-out capabilities</a>, which seems to astonish the elderly man. Sony also cleverly uses the setting to not only promote the PSP-2000 and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/monster-hunter/"><em>Monster Hunter Freedom 2</em></a>, it also features an entire fleet of Bravia TVs. We gotta hand it to ya, Sony. Nice one.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/18/new-japanese-psp-2000-commercial-doesnt-suck/">New Japanese PSP-2000 commercial doesn't suck</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Sep 2007 20:30:00 EST.
