If you're looking for <em>Call of Duty</em> news that isn't related to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/infinity-ward,@breakup">Infinity Ward fiasco</a>, you're in luck. This week's GameTrailers TV will feature a brand new teaser trailer that promises to "put all the rumors to rest." We already know that the next iteration of Activision's FPS franchise will be developed by <em>World at War</em>'s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/02/activision-treyarch-call-of-duty-this-fall-mw2-map-packs-2010/">Treyarch</a>, but this week's GTTV should finally confirm the long-rumored <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/03/rumor-next-call-of-duty-possibly-set-in-vietnam/">Vietnam setting</a>.<br />
<br />
GTTV will air on SpikeTV on Friday night at 12:40AM. (And don't worry, we'll post details immediately after they air.) Check out a promo after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/28/next-call-of-duty-to-be-announced-on-gametrailers-tv-this-week/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Next Call of Duty to be announced on GameTrailers TV this week</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/28/next-call-of-duty-to-be-announced-on-gametrailers-tv-this-week/">Next Call of Duty to be announced on GameTrailers TV this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Apr 2010 16:50:00 EST. Amid the roar of <em>Call of Duty</em> news today, Activision has confirmed that Treyarch's next entry in the series will be released this fall. Assuming Activision adheres to its thus far rock-solid <em>Call of Duty</em> schedule, a November release seems likely. Whether or not the series will make the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/07/rumor-call-of-duty-7-coming-in-november/">rumored move to Vietnam</a> remains unconfirmed.<br />
<br />
In other unsurprising <em>Call of Duty</em> news, Activision has confirmed that the upcoming <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2</em> DLC will consist of multiplayer map packs. The map packs were more or less outed last year, thanks to some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/01/modern-warfare-2-map-pack-planned-for-spring-2010/">loose-lipped energy drink packaging</a>, but Activision hasn't actually confirmed the exact nature of the DLC until now. The first two map packs -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/modern-warfare-2-map-packs-hitting-xbox-live-first/">slated to appear first on Xbox Live</a> -- are in development at Infinity Ward. Assuming initial plans haven't been altered by the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/02/activision-confirms-infinity-ward-studio-heads-departures/">executive shuffling</a>, the first pack is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/11/modern-warfare-2-first-exclusive-dlc-pack-officially-coming/">scheduled to release this spring</a>, while the second is slated for a (presumably later) 2010 release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/02/activision-treyarch-call-of-duty-this-fall-mw2-map-packs-2010/">Activision: Treyarch's next Call of Duty this fall; pair of Modern Warfare 2 map packs this year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Mar 2010 17:10:00 EST. According to a "senior UK trade source" who allegedly spoke with <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=230972">CVG</a>, the next <em>Call of Duty</em> game from Treyarch will be set in Vietnam and arrive at retailers this November. "It's going to be November again - just as with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war">World At War</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2">Modern Warfare 2</a></em>," the source was quoted as saying.<br />
<br />
We heard as much <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/03/rumor-next-call-of-duty-possibly-set-in-vietnam/">back in May of last year</a>, when Treyarch was said to be looking for "Vietnam War era tunes." Add to that the fact that <a href="http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2008/10/20/call-of-duty-to-leave-wwii-settings-behind/">Activision's Noah Heller explicitly said</a> Treyarch would no longer be working on WWII-based <em>Call of Duty</em> games and you've got yourself a more reasonable sounding rumor. We've asked Activision for comment and will keep you updated as we hear more.<br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/07/rumor-call-of-duty-7-coming-in-november/">Rumor: Call of Duty 7 coming in November</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Jan 2010 13:30:00 EST. Duty is a hell of a thing. It's always calling you to it, and it would appear that Activision is already in production of the Treyarch follow-up to Infinity Ward's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a>, as is the company's pattern. And that's where David Kim's <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/in/davidykim">LinkedIn profile</a> comes into play (check out his personal site <a href="http://www.daverobot.com/">here</a>), which mentions that he's currently working as senior animator on <em>Call of Duty 7</em>.<br /><br />With <em>Modern Warfare 2</em> expected to deploy this holiday season, though, we likely won't hear anything substantial on this new <em>Call of Duty</em> for some time. But, considering how Activision likes to pump out the sequels to its key franchises, it's probably a safe bet to expect <em>Call of Duty 7</em> sometime in 2010. We actually knew that before this listing popped up.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://supererogatory.tumblr.com/post/106922174/activision-treyarch-call-of-duty-7-currently">superannuation</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/13/call-of-duty-7-revealed-by-treyarch-animator-profile/">'Call of Duty 7' revealed by Treyarch animator profile</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 May 2009 11:40:00 EST. Treyarch's <a href="http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2008/10/20/call-of-duty-to-leave-wwii-settings-behind/">Noah Heller mentioned</a> shortly before the release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-world-at-war"><em>Call of Duty: World at War</em></a> that the developer was probably going to lay off World War II for a while, leaving many to wonder what the stage of operations for the next <em>CoD </em>would be. If <a href="http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2009/05/01/call-of-duty-7-in-vietnam-cuba/">a report from That VideoGame Blog</a> proves accurate, Activision may be taking the franchise to a much <em>groovier</em> era -- the 1960s. (Anno Domini, that is -- though who are we to assume 1960 B.C. wasn't equally groovy?)<br /><br />TVGB is reporting that an anonymous, "trusted" source informed them Activision's been looking to license "Vietnam War era tunes, as well as Cuban, African, and Soviet Union music." The source mentioned that Heller (and, assumedly, Treyarch) is involved in the aforementioned license hunting. As with all rumors spawned by anonymous tipsters, we encourage you to take this rumor with a two-ton boulder of salt -- just to be safe, we've contacted Activision for a comment.<br />
