But this isn't another RPG-fueled handheld installment that have veers from the groundwork laid by console games. <em>Mario Tennis Open</em> is designed to be a console-quality experience for the 3DS.<br /><br />That made for an ultimately unsurprising gameplay experience in the recent preview build I was able to sample -- it felt just like you'd expect a <em>Mario Tennis</em> game to feel. But hiding under the surface was something far more interesting and exciting. <em>Super Mario Tennis </em>is an inventive mini-game that reimagines Nintendo's classic platformer.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mario-tennis-open-4-6-2012/">Mario Tennis Open (4/6/2012)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mario-tennis-open-4-6-2012/#4946978"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/i33402_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mario-tennis-open-4-6-2012/#4946979"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/i33403_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mario-tennis-open-4-6-2012/#4946980"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/i33404_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mario-tennis-open-4-6-2012/#4946981"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/i33405_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mario-tennis-open-4-6-2012/#4946982"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/i33406_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/07/mario-tennis-open-puts-a-new-spin-on-an-old-classic/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mario Tennis Open puts a new spin on an old classic</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/07/mario-tennis-open-puts-a-new-spin-on-an-old-classic/">Mario Tennis Open puts a new spin on an old classic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 07 Apr 2012 11:00:00 EST. Back in 2001, Nintendo released a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOvwdVp8Fvo">fairly gorgeous commercial</a> for <em>Golden Sun</em> -- however, for all its glitz and glamor, it wasn't exactly packing in the <em>coherence</em> department. A giant crystal dragon, totally wrecking shop in a jam-packed opera house? We don't remember that in the original Game Boy Advance RPG. As it turns out, there's <a href="http://tinycartridge.com/post/1673171801/old-golden-sun-commercial-finally-makes-sense-thanks-to">a reason for that</a>: That sequence wouldn't make it into the franchise until this very year, with the release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/golden-sun-dark-dawn"><em>Golden Sun: Dark Dawn</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Check out a comparison of the commercial and the (slightly spoilery) clip from <em>Dark Dawn</em> after the jump -- just try not to think about why it took almost a decade for the translucent dragon to arrive. Was the commercial just <em>pre</em><em>scient</em> or something?<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/27/classic-golden-sun-commercial-finally-explained-by-dark-dawn/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Classic Golden Sun commercial finally explained by Dark Dawn</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/27/classic-golden-sun-commercial-finally-explained-by-dark-dawn/">Classic Golden Sun commercial finally explained by Dark Dawn</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 27 Nov 2010 19:00:00 EST. Nintendo allayed those fears this morning by announcing a North American release date of November 29. That means it will only have been seven years since the last <em>Golden Sun</em>. That's not so bad. Can you imagine having to wait <em>eight years</em>?<br />
<br />
DS RPG addicts will have to finish up <em>Dragon Quest IX</em>, and then blaze through October's <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-the-4-heroes-of-light">Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light</a></em> to make room for this. "Too many RPGs" is a wonderful problem to have.<br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/30/golden-sun-dark-dawn-lights-up-stores-on-november-29/">Golden Sun: Dark Dawn lights up stores on November 29</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Aug 2010 09:33:00 EST. Camelot knows how to make entertaining RPGs. It's something of a travesty that the studio has been whiling away the last several years on various Nintendo sports games instead of pumping out a sequel to <em>Golden Sun: The Lost Age</em>. Now, after seven years (<em>seven</em>), Camelot is finally back on the scene with <em>Golden Sun: Dark Dawn</em> for the DS. Based on my E3 demo, I'd say fans have cause to be excited. Playing <em>Dark Dawn</em> is a joy, like visiting an old friend.<br />

Well <em>finally</em>. Nintendo revealed at its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/15/nintendo-e3-keynote-live-from-the-nokia-center/">E3 keynote</a> that <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/golden-sun-ds"><em>Golden Sun DS</em></a> is now <em>Golden Sun: Dark Dawn</em>. A new trailer was shown for the game, displaying some very impressive graphics on the DS, including huge summoning spells that span both screens. The trailer also showed some touch mechanics, including moving objects with the stylus to open paths and solve puzzles.<br />
<br />
More important than all that, the game will be released this holiday. If it's on the show floor, rest assured that we <em>will</em> be playing it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/15/golden-sun-dark-dawn-hits-ds-this-holiday/">Golden Sun: Dark Dawn hits DS this holiday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Jun 2010 12:31:00 EST. This week's most notable release is surely Camelot's latest and greatest golf game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/07/camelot-talks-about-why-we-should-love-we-love-golf/"><em>We Love Golf</em></a>. We've been covering the title for quite some time and are glad to see it finally release. Will it offer up a better experience than other competition on the console, such as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/09/super-swing-golf-season-2-trailer-is-completely-ridiculous/"><em>Super</em><em><em> Swing Golf 2</em></em></a><em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/24/tiger-woods-ponies-up-some-videos-for-pga-tour-09/"><em>Tiger Woods 09</em></a>? Only time will tell. <br /> </em>

<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/03/capcom-loves-putting-out-we-love-golf-trailers/"><em>We Love Golf</em></a> isn't the first golf title that Camelot has worked on. After pioneering the <em>Hot Shots!</em> franchise, they then worked on the <em>Mario Golf</em> games. Now, we're all awaiting the release of <em>We Love Golf</em>, which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/north-america-gets-exclusive-love-in-we-love-golf/">hits retail shelves</a> in North America next week. <br /><br />Siliconera recently got the chance to talk with Camelot's founding brothers, Hiroyuki and Shugo Takahashi, about the upcoming game. The two talk about many things, from the importance of motion-based controls, to how development on previous titles have aided them in creating wha they think is a very solid product. We don't know about you, but we're pretty pumped for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/01/we-love-screens/"><em>We Love Golf</em></a>.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/07/camelot-talks-about-why-we-should-love-we-love-golf/">Camelot talks about why we should love We Love Golf</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 Jul 2008 22:00:00 EST. ... and Capcom <em>totally knows it</em>. That's why they're tempting prospective golfers with a <em>fun-sized</em> golf bag, which is actually meant to hold the Wii Remote that substitutes for clubs in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/03/capcom-loves-putting-out-we-love-golf-trailers/"><em>We Love Golf</em></a>. Clever, right? The golf bag accessory comes in a jaunty red and looks <em>just </em>big enough to carry one Wiimote around. Since there's rarely any call for <em>just a well-protected Wiimote</em> clipped to something else (at least in our personal experience), this is bound to end up <em>proudly displayed</em> among other preorder items.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=71328">GameStop</a> is offering the accessory with copies of the game (shipping next month), as is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Capcom/">Capcom</a>'s own <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/11/capcom-apologizes-for-your-trials-and-tribulations/">perilous</a> online store.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/16/we-love-tiny-golf-bags/">We Love Tiny Golf Bags</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Jun 2008 17:00:00 EST. Summer is here (at least in the northern hemisphere), and the weather has been beautiful. It can almost be described as perfect golfing weather, only we can't golf (unless you're talking about the mini variety) and don't belong to any country clubs.<br /><br />Thanks to Camelot and Capcom's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/north-america-gets-exclusive-love-in-we-love-golf/"><em>We Love Golf</em></a>, though, we can at least get a virtual golfing experience next month. So, we're all in agreement then. Currently hard at work on the European version of <em>We Love Golf </em>(for Wii, natch), the folks at Camelot have told <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=133982">Eurogamer</a> that they rather like the idea of bringing <em>Golden Sun</em>, a popular series of role-playing games for the Game Boy Advance, to Nintendo's DS. "It would be great, wouldn't it!" said the seemingly excitable Hiroyuki and Shugo Takahashi. "We want to play that game too, just as much as you. We love <em>Golden Sun</em>!" <br /><br />The brothers also noted that the RPG genre is one they definitely plan on revisiting in the future, with their thoughts already wrapped around "RPG stuff." Said the Takahashi brothers: "Camelot is an RPG maker. We don't think that we'll ever quit making RPGs."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/22/camelot-reckons-golden-sun-ds-would-be-great/">Camelot reckons Golden Sun DS 'would be great'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Apr 2008 23:00:00 EST. And we can totally understand why, as the company's <em>Golden Sun</em> and <em>Shining Force</em> series of games are widely regarded as <em>excellent</em>. Camelot even hinted at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/11/camelot-on-golden-sun-3/"><em>Golden Sun</em> for the DS</a>, the teases!<br /><br />"We want to play that game too, just as much as you," comments the Takahashi brothers. " We love<em> Golden Sun</em>! We are working on a lot of different things - a lot of different design documents and so on, including some different RPG ideas. Don't worry, we're thinking about RPG stuff! We've got all these ideas, many many different things we're thinking about - but of course, we still have just one team, so we'll see what happens." Of course, we knew they were working on some kind of RPG <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/01/golden-sun-creators-hint-at-new-rpg/">earlier this month</a>, but to take this as a confirmation that a <em>Golden Sun</em> for the DS is in the works could very well mean a lot of nights spent home alone, crying in the dark. Or, they <em>actually could</em> <em>be</em> working on it. For the sake of our sanity, though, we're going to remain skeptical.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/22/camelot-likes-the-idea-of-golden-sun-ds/">Camelot likes the idea of Golden Sun DS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Apr 2008 13:30:00 EST. Camelot has always done a good job handling Nintendo sports, specifically those of the golf and tennis varieties, so <em>We Love Golf</em> is definitely on our watch list. This video also gives us a nice feeling about the title. Seeing some of our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/apollo-justice-loves-golf/">favorite</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/18/ken-and-morrigan-to-love-golf/">Capcom</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/zack-loves-golf-wiki-unavailable-for-comment/">characters</a> in action is enticing, and we love the bright and cheery atmospheres. Most importantly, though, the gameplay looks spot-on. Now, all that remains to be seen is how well the Wiimote's motion controls work in the game.<br /><br />If Camelot managed to get that down, though, all of these elements <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/10/we-love-golf-even-more-now-that-it-supports-online-play/">combined with online play</a> promises a very irresistible package.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gemaga.com/2008/03/29/wii-love-golf-gameplay">Gemaga</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/02/we-think-well-love-we-love-golf/">We think we'll love We Love Golf</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Apr 2008 20:00:00 EST. We hope that you will be looking forward to our future game. We ourselves are looking forward to the next Camelot RPG as well, just like you."<br /><br />So they're planning a new RPG of some kind, for some platform, to be revealed in the future -- and Camelot thinks it's going to be pretty neat. That's significantly more than devs will usually let slip. Although they didn't even really say that they were planning an RPG.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/01/golden-sun-creators-hint-at-new-rpg/">Golden Sun creators hint at new RPG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Apr 2008 14:15:00 EST. Well, it's not actually Zack. It's some <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/we-love-golf/"><em>We Love Golf</em></a>-er in a Zack costume. That's why he looks so, you know, <em>not like Zack at all.</em> Capcom has just added a character likeness from their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/05/try-zack-and-wiki-and-feel-bad-about-yourself-for-free/">beloved Wii adventure</a> to go with the other <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/apollo-justice-loves-golf/">Capcom</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/18/ken-and-morrigan-to-love-golf/">costumes</a> found in the golf game. Capcom's upcoming North American version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/12/vote-capcom-faves-into-we-love-golf/"><em>We Love Golf</em></a> will add four-player online matches to the recently released Japanese game. Wii players will be able to connect with or without <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/friendcode">Friend Codes</a>, and they'll have the option of Mii avatars in games.<br /><br />Due sometime this year, the Wii golf game is being developed by Camelot Software, long-time cartoon-golf developers. Collectables and other touches add value to the OCD set; the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/12/vote-capcom-faves-into-we-love-golf/">poll</a> results are in, and we'll get Ken and Morgan costumes in this version. But screw those extras, Capcom had us at "Friend Code optional."<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-wii/">We Love Golf (Wii)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-wii/#810145"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/stephanie_bankershot01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-wii/#810144"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/mark_shot09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-wii/#810143"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/mark_shot07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-wii/#810142"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/mark_shot06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/we-love-golf-wii/#810141"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/mark_shot04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/we-love-golf-american-release-to-include-online-play/">We Love Golf American release to include online play</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 11:30:00 EST. Perhaps, say, a little blue circle indicating online play?<br /><br />Yes, it's true, the Japanese version of <em>We Love Golf</em> doesn't support Wi-Fi. But, fortunately for us, Camelot made some changes to the game.<br /><br /><em>Nintendo Power</em> recently confirmed with the developer that online play was added to the American and European versions, making us even more excited for this title. If anything could top playing Wiimote golf as one of our favorite <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/10/capcom-lets-you-choose-who-loves-golf/">Capcom attorneys</a>, it'd be adding an online experience on top of that.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/10/we-love-golf-even-more-now-that-it-supports-online-play/">We Love Golf even more now that it supports online play</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Mar 2008 16:00:00 EST. Camelot's upcoming Wii golf title <em>We Love Golf</em> will feature Capcom-flavored alternate costumes for its male and female golfers, allowing players to tee off as Chun Li, Apollo Justice, Jill Valentine, or Arthur from <em>Ghouls 'n Ghosts</em>. The fun doesn't stop there, however, as Capcom is <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/853">allowing fans to vote</a> on the final two Capcom characters to be included in the North American and European versions of the game.<br /><br />By heading over to the <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/853">official Capcom blog</a>, players will be able to vote for one female character, and one male character. Female character choices consist of Cammy (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/streetfighter"><em>Street Fighter</em></a>), Morrigan (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/darkstalkers"><em>Darkstalkers</em></a>), Rouge (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/powerstone"><em>Power Stone</em></a>), Roll Caskett (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/megaman"><em>Mega Man Legends</em></a>), and Ashley Graham (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil"><em>Resident Evil</em><em> 4</em></a>).<br /><br />The male options are Frank West (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/deadrising"><em>Dead Rising</em></a>), Balrog (<em>Street Fighter</em>), Guy (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/finalfight"><em>Final Fight</em></a>), Ken (<em>Street Fighter</em>), Dhalsim (<em>Street Fighter</em>), and Captain Commando (former Capcom mascot and protagonist of the arcade game of the same name)<em></em>. At the moment, Ken and Morrigan are both leading their respective polls. Of course, we wonder why Capcom can't simply include <em>all</em> the characters in the game, but we'll take what we can get.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2008/02/10/capcom-lets-you-choose-who-loves-golf/">Wii Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/12/vote-capcom-faves-into-we-love-golf/">Vote Capcom faves into We Love Golf</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Feb 2008 11:25:00 EST. <br />As the picture above demonstrates, Camelot's <em>We Love Golf</em> will allow us to play a round as Apollo Justice, while other characters <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/apollo-justice-loves-golf/">confirmed</a> for the title include Chun Li (<em>Street Fighter</em>), Jill Valentine (<em>Resident Evil 3</em>), and Arthur (<em>Ghouls 'n Ghosts</em>). We can't comprehend how anybody would <em>not </em>want to play golf as Apollo Justice, but if you're not a fan of the bequiffed lawyer (weirdo), then <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom">Capcom</a> has set up a poll on its <a href="http://blog.capcom.com/archives/853">official blog</a> to ask readers which characters they'd most like to see in the U.S and European versions of the game.<br /><br />You can vote for one female and one male character, with Cammy (<em>Street Fighter</em>), Morrigan (<em>Darkstalkers</em>), Rouge (<em>Power Stone</em>), Roll Caskett (<em>Mega Man Legends</em>), and Ashley Graham (<em>Resident Evil</em>) making up the female category.<br /><br />Meanwhile, the male list consists of Frank West (<em>Dead Rising</em>), Balrog (<em>Street Fighter</em>), Guy (<em>Final Fight</em>), Ken (<em>Street Fighter</em>), Dhalsim (<em>Street Fighter</em>), and Captain Commando (from, uh, <em>Captain Commando</em>). And yes, we know of at least <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/jc-fletcher">one person</a> who will be sorely disappointed with the lack of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/ds-daily-register-your-name/">Zangief</a> in that selection.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/10/capcom-lets-you-choose-who-loves-golf/">Capcom lets you choose who loves Golf</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 10 Feb 2008 18:00:00 EST. No, not Mega Man (as far as we know.)<br /><br />Players will be able to hit the links (that's a golf term, right? "Hit the links"?) as <em>Resident Evil 3</em>'s Jill Valentine, <em>Ghouls 'n Ghosts</em>'s Arthur (<em>in</em> armor), Chun-Li, and the red-suited protagonist of the DS's <em>Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. </em>Now there's absolutely no reason to play as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/23/miis-love-golf-and-triple-bogeys-too/">yourself</a>! <br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mii/">Mii</a> integration in games is something we've not seen enough of, particularly in third-party titles. Camelot's forthcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/24/japan-to-love-golf-in-december/"><em>We Love Golf</em></a> is looking to change that, however, with publisher Capcom confirming the title will fully support the blobby little people, allowing us to <strike>ruin a perfectly good walk</strike> play eighteen holes as a rounded, chubbier version of ourselves.<br /><br />It also means we'll be treated to the bizarre sight of permanently grinning Miis looking <em>thoroughly chuffed</em> about that triple bogey putt they just sank. Odd.<br /><br />Anyhow, there's a dozen new screens in the gallery below.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/23/miis-love-golf-and-triple-bogeys-too/">Miis Love Golf (and triple bogeys, too)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Nov 2007 20:00:00 EST. Of course, it was fake as we soon <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/17/the-hows-and-whys-of-the-fake-golden-sun-screens/">learned why</a> someone would play with our emotions in that way. Shame on them.<br /><br />But, hope returns, as in an interview with Game Informer, Camelot reveals that Nintendo has told them that they want another game in the series. And, like a mob boss running shop on your neighborhood, you best listen to them. Camelot said "We have to do it! Not just that we have to do it, but we want to do it. Nintendo has asked us to please make it. But at the same time we haven't gotten around to making it. We're not really sure why (laughs)...One of the reasons that we haven't made golden sun is because there are so many fans of the game and we don't want to do something half-assed. We want to give it the time it deserves."<br /><br />While we appreciate the care on their part to create a quality game, one deserving of the <em>Golden Sun</em> name, we think 4 years has been plenty of time to come up with a third installment.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.codenamerevolution.com/?p=6459">Codename Revolution</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/11/camelot-on-golden-sun-3/">Camelot on Golden Sun 3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Oct 2007 13:20:00 EST. At least, that seems to be the principle <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camelot_Software_Planning">Camelot</a> is operating under: a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Wiimote/">Wiimote</a> mascot character, Remocon-kun, acts as your guide in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/29/camelot-backspins-i-love-golf-onto-wii/"><em>We Love Golf</em></a>, teaching you how to swing properly.<br /><br />While we find the way the A button has been pressed into service as a de facto mouth a little weird, we can't deny the simple fact that the Wiimote is as good a mascot for the Wii as any, instantly recognizable and iconic for the whole system. In that respect, Camelot is on to something. Whether that means that sticking arms on the Wiimote and making it a character, specifically, is a good idea is a matter of interpretation.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/26/an-animated-wiimote-loves-golf-too/">An animated Wiimote loves golf, too</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Sep 2007 13:30:00 EST. <br />We haven't heard much from Camelot Software -- the developer behind various <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shiningforce"><span style="font-style: italic;">Shining Force</span></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/12/japanese-trademarks-hint-at-future-mario-golf-game/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Mario Golf</span></a>, and <span style="font-style: italic;">Mario Tennis</span> titles -- ever since the company announced that it would be putting aside its Nintendo projects to focus on its online golf title for the PC, <span style="font-style: italic;">I Love Golf</span>. The latest issue of <span style="font-style: italic;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Famitsu/">Famitsu</a></span>, however, announces that the Japanese developer will be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/port">porting</a> the game to the Wii, retitling it <span style="font-style: italic;">Wii Love Golf</span>.<br /><br />Interestingly, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Capcom/">Capcom</a> will handle publishing for <em>Wii Love Golf</em>, leaving those of us who were hoping for another Mario-themed Sports RPG a little disappointed. Perhaps we'll still see appearances from Capcom's franchises, much like how <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Tecmo/">Tecmo</a> filled the cast of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=pangya"><em>Super Swing Golf</em></a> with <em>Dead or Alive</em> characters? Rockman gets equipped with five iron? Check out the <span style="font-style: italic;">Famitsu</span> pages after the post break.<br /><br />Looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer for the next <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/golden%20sun/"><em>Golden Sun</em></a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/29/camelot-backspins-i-love-golf-onto-wii/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Camelot backspins I Love Golf onto Wii</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/29/camelot-backspins-i-love-golf-onto-wii/">Camelot backspins I Love Golf onto Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 29 Aug 2007 11:15:00 EST. Even Joystiq, the wind beneath our wings, fell victim to the malignant screenshots that were supposedly leaked from a "secret press gathering" by person-in-the-know <em>gobo_4227</em>.<br /><br />To your right, you'll see one of those supposed screenshots of <em>Golden Sun: The Sooth Sayer</em> compared with promotional artwork that was released for <em>Golden Sun: The Lost Age</em> back in 2002. Unless you count the bloom filter and "Touch to Start" text, the images are exact twins. The fact that we've heard no official mention of the new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/RPG/">RPG</a> -- or any other Camelot-developed title for either Nintendo console -- whilst <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/E307">E3</a> continues makes this rumor seem even more unconvincing. <br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/12/not-e307-fake-golden-sun-ds-announced/">NOT E307: Fake Golden Sun DS announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Jul 2007 16:30:00 EST. According to a tipster gobo_4227, the following images are from an unannounced Nintendo DS debut of the GBA's RPG series, Golden Sun. The legitimacy of the images is obviously in doubt, but it does realize some of our far-fetched dreams. Make it happen, developers!<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/golden-sun-ds/">Golden Sun DS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/golden-sun-ds/#307650"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/goldensun1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/golden-sun-ds/#307649"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/goldensun2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/golden-sun-ds-shown-at-small-nintendo-gathering/">Rumor: Golden Sun DS images snapped [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jul 2007 15:47:00 EST. Joining forces with Eleven-Up Inc., Camelot will now work exclusively on the PC platform.<br /><br />Besides both <em>Golden Sun</em> titles, Camelot is responsible for <em>Mario Tennis: Power Tour</em> (GBA), as well as <em>Mario Power Tennis</em> and <em>Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour </em>on GameCube. Camelot's departure from the Nintendo scene officially puts to rest rumors that the studio will release a new <em>Golden Sun</em> installment for Wii.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Looks like we jumped the gun. Most sources, including Camelot's <a target="_blank" href="http://www.camelot.co.jp/">official website</a>, seem to indicate that the studio is merely branching out onto the PC platform with '<em>I LOVE GOLF!</em>' A Wii RPG should still be in the works.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/01/golden-sun-creator-cutting-ties-with-nintendo/">Golden Sun creator parting ways with Nintendo [update 1]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Aug 2006 15:55:00 EST.
