The "villagers" are as incomprehensible in real life as in the game, but one "extra" still manages to steal the show.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/25/mega64-tickles-draculas-rib-with-simons-quest-parody/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mega64 tickles Dracula's rib with Simon's Quest parody</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/25/mega64-tickles-draculas-rib-with-simons-quest-parody/">Mega64 tickles Dracula's rib with Simon's Quest parody</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 25 Sep 2010 00:00:00 EST. And now that all three NES <em>Castlevanias</em> (not counting stuff like <em>Konami Wai Wai World</em> or <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/24/virtually-overlooked-boku-dracula-kun/">Boku Dracula-kun</a></em>) are out and you guys bought them all (you bought them all, right?), we can ask you to pick a favorite. Yeah, we're asking you the same thing in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/15/fanswag-castlevania-judgment/">contest post</a>, but that's <em>of all time</em>, and we'd like to exclude the Metroidvanias from consideration. <br /><br />Is it the straightforward, brutally punishing action of <em>Castlevania?</em> The light platforming and completely obtuse puzzle-solving of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/29/vc-monday-madness-simons-quest-magician-lord-and-samurai-ghos/">Simon's Quest</a>?</em> The varying locations and playable characters of <em>Dracula's Curse?</em> Or do you just like whipping Medusa heads in general?</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/17/wii-warm-up-draculas-choice/">Wii Warm Up: Dracula's Choice</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 17 Jan 2009 10:30:00 EST. SNK Playmore's <em>Metal Slug 2</em>, which <em>Metal Slug</em> fans generally like, and <em>Castlevania II: Simon's Quest</em>, which is fairly polarizing. Some <em>Castlevanians</em> enjoy its RPG elements and day-to-night cycle, while some hate its plodding gameplay and completely inscrutable puzzles. Everyone's right! We suspect that the release of <em>Simon's Quest</em> is timed to coincide with the latest DS <em>Castlevania</em> game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/13/tgs08-castlevania-order-of-awesome-trailer/"><em>Order of Ecclesia</em></a>, which came out last week. Or it's timed to coincide roughly with the one-year anniversary of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/29/vc-monday-madness-simons-quest-magician-lord-and-samurai-ghos/">North American release</a> of <em>Simon's Quest!</em><br /><br />Sadly missing from this week's releases is the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/26/supergrafx-game-leads-japanese-virtual-console-lineup-for-octobe/">SuperGrafx <em>Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts</em></a>, which has failed to make its announced October release. Unless Nintendo surprises everyone on Halloween!<br /><br />Virtual Console releases:<br />
<ul>
    <li><em><a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/vc/vc_dr2/index.html">Dracula II: Noroi no Fuuin</a> </em>(Famicom, 1 player, 500 Wii Points)</li>
    <li><em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Slug_2">Metal Slug 2</a> </em>(Neo Geo, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points)</li>
</ul>
Just one WiiWare game, but it's ... well, okay, it's a cheapo <em>Breakout</em> clone. <br />

Look, it's <em>Castlevania</em>. Some things are just sacred, or near enough to it to require a call to action. Go forth, gamers, and take up <em>Simon's Quest</em>. Vanquish evil. It'll make you feel good about yourself.<br /><br />Oh, there are other games as well, if you're <em>that</em> sort of person, including the first TurboDuo title released. <br />
