In case you haven't seen the 3DS Game Cards on <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/hardware/features/features01.html">Nintendo's site</a>, this is what they look like: just like DS carts, but white, and with a small protrusion on the side to keep you from trying to use them in a DS.<br />
<br />
Another fact you may not have been aware of: your DSi and DSi XL AC adapters will work in the 3DS, a nice change from Nintendo's usual habit of changing the shape of the connector. And something <em>we</em> weren't aware of: according to Andriasang, 3DS game cases are thinner than those for DS games, in addition to being <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/11/super-monkey-ball-3d-rolls-past-3ds-launch-date-in-japan/">backwards</a></em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/17/dsi-charger-is-compatible-with-3ds-and-other-minutiae/">DSi charger is compatible with 3DS, and other minutiae</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Jan 2011 15:30:00 EST. Do you need to re-energize the power cores of your Wii Remotes in the raddest, most attitude-fueled way imaginable? The latest product from Mad Catz (<a href="http://www.madcatz.com/pressreleases/Mad_Catz_Announces_Shipping_of_Sonic_Inductive_Charger.pdf">PDF</a>) is right up your alley: It's a Wiimote induction charger featuring Sonic the Hedgehog. At $49.99, it's probably not the most cost efficient way to refuel your gaming peripherals, but it <em>is</em> the ... um, bluest.<br />
<br />
What's great about the charger's Sonic-centricity is that it not only possesses form, but also has quite a bit of function. See his hand, there? That's not a peace sign -- that's him telling you how many controllers the charger can hold. He's such a helpful little devil, isn't he?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/28/mad-catz-releases-sonic-branded-inductive-wiimote-charger/">Mad Catz releases Sonic-branded inductive Wiimote charger</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Dec 2010 22:10:00 EST. We feel the same way about bringing you the news that you'll be able to buy one of these for yourself in December. An Amazon listing shows that the charger, which was released in Japan this September, will be available in America through the online retailer on December 23.<br />
<br />
It's designed to work with both the DSi and DSi XL, and will sell on Amazon for $40. Sure, that sounds like a lot, but does your current DSi charger make you smile?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/08/amazon-offering-wonderful-pikachu-dsi-charge-stand-this-december/">Amazon offering wonderful Pikachu DSi charge stand this December</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Oct 2010 21:03:00 EST. Friends, we're nearing the day when our vision of a single, wireless charging station for <em>all</em> our electronic devices can be realized. <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/cta-digital">CTA Digital</a> has brought us one-step closer with the "Quadruple Induction Charge Station," an instrument capable of juicing up four Wiimotes and a DSi simultaneously.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/01/cta-digital-reveals-its-one-stop-nintendo-charging-shop/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CTA Digital reveals its one-stop Nintendo-charging shop</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/01/cta-digital-reveals-its-one-stop-nintendo-charging-shop/">CTA Digital reveals its one-stop Nintendo-charging shop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Sep 2010 04:00:00 EST. For those of you who want to pay even more to play <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/the-fight-lights-out"><em>The Fight: Lights Out</em></a>, CTA offers the <a href="http://www.ctadigital.com/item.asp?item=2860">Ultimate Boxing Gloves</a> -- a set of fingerless gloves into which you can secure the Move controllers. The Wii has the wrist strap, but thanks to CTA, Move has the elusive <em>palm strap</em>.<br />
<br />
The other new accessory is actually pretty slick-looking, and even practical: it's a charge cradle designed for one Move controller, one <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/16/move-navigation-controller-can-be-replaced-by-dualshock/">Navigation Controller</a>, and one Dual Shock 3. For the one-Move household, this actually appears to be an ideal charging setup. The company also offers two other configurations for Move charging: one for just the <a href="http://www.ctadigital.com/item.asp?item=2859">Move and the Navigation Controller</a>, and one for <a href="http://www.ctadigital.com/item.asp?item=2858">two Moves and two Navigation Controllers</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/04/cta-digitals-move-accessories-range-from-useful-to-gloves/">CTA Digital's Move accessories range from 'useful' to 'gloves'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Aug 2010 05:00:00 EST. It feels vaguely magical to lay a device down on top of a mat and watch the little battery light turn on. CTA Digital's new Non Contact Induction Charging Pad will enable DSi and DSi XL owners to enjoy the convenience of <em>setting a thing on top of another thing</em>. By replacing your battery with the special battery included with the kit, you'll be able to charge the device through contact with the charging stand with four lights (not <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chain_of_Command_(Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation)">five</a>) to indicate charge level. <br />
<br />
The device is available now from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/DSi-Non-Contact-Charger-Nintendo-DS/dp/B003E4BG9S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1270087091&amp;sr=8-1">Amazon</a> and other retailers. We're personally going to hold off for a while, as we often do with third-party charging products, and make sure there aren't any <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/12/psyclone-wii-rechargers-recalled-pose-burn-or-fire-hazard/">fire-related issues.</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/11/touching-is-good-enough-with-cta-digitals-new-dsi-dsi-xl-charge/">Touching is good enough with CTA Digital's new DSi/DSi XL charger</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 May 2010 20:20:00 EST. The four new colors for the device, in our opinion, help ameliorate that ugly factor. It <em>could</em> be because the red and blue buttons are gone in favor of a more monochrome look, or it could be because it's slightly harder to compare these to the stock Wiimote. These four color options will be available in North America and Europe this holiday season. They have already launched in Japan, along with <em>many</em> <a href="http://gear.ign.com/articles/100/1004703p1.html">other colors</a>.<br />
<br />
Nyko also announced the Charge Base IC, an induction charging dock that uses magnets to hold controllers in place, and also features a USB port for charging other items.<br />

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a <a href="http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09303.html">recall</a> on the "Psyclone Essentials and React Wii 4-Dock Battery Recharge Stations." There are approximately 220,000 of them out there in people's homes and the battery packs (remember, it's a recharge station) can overheat "posing a burn or fire hazard to the consumer." Six incidents have been reported to the agency, with two people reporting minor burns to their hands.<br /> <br /> The recalled products are distributed by Griffin International and were sold in Target, Toys R Us, Best Buy and Amazon. The Psyclone recharge stations have apparently had problems for a while: we first reported <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/31/psyclone-wiimote-recharger-de-charges-wiimotes-permanently/">issues with the product back in 2007</a>. Are you tired of dealing with the tumbleweed of cords responsible for siphoning power into your GBA SP, DS Phat, DS Lite, DSi, and your three different PSP models? Do you only have seven bucks with which to remedy said problem? Are you brave enough to trust a third-party company whose promotional materials feature glaring typos (we trust you can find it in the above image) with moving electricity from one of your expensive electronic devices into another? Can we turn your attention to <a href="http://videogame.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=00547">Brando's 7-in-1 USB Charging Cable</a>, the perfect gift for those who meet the criteria listed above? Can we write this whole post only using interrogative sentences? Yes, we can. <em>Aw, crap</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/04/7-in-1-usb-charging-cable-is-for-the-bold-and-thrifty/">7-in-1 USB charging cable is for the bold and thrifty</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 04 Jan 2009 14:00:00 EST. Teknocreations has unveiled their InCharge battery pack and charge stand for Wiimotes. The new stand uses a set of lithium polymer batteries, which, according to the press release, are half as heavy as other rechargeables and work over hundreds of charges. Each charge provides 25 hours of gameplay. The stand can charge two Wiimotes side-by-side.<br /><br />But all of that is just a leadup to the <em>real</em> magic trick that separates this thing from other <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/charger/">chargers</a>: it charges without any metal contacts, and <em>will charge a battery through a silicone cover.</em> If you actually <em>use</em> your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/wii-warm-up-wearing-the-jacket/">Wii Remote Jackets</a>, you can leave them on when you dock your Wiimotes to charge. That is really, really cool. <br />Here's some advice for any Brits currently in need of a new DS <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/charger">charger</a>: don't skimp on it. The consumer protection folks at Trading Standards have stated that there are "hundreds of thousands, or even millions" of unsafe AC power adaptors on UK high streets. The cheap (about &pound;6) chargers originated from China, and have exposed wires and ill-fitting pins that can cause the adaptor to overheat, or even electrocute owners, like the poor <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Doctor_Who_monsters_and_aliens">Pig Slaves</a> above! Yeep!<br /><br />Versions labeled for the DS Phat, DS Lite and Game Boy are said to be among the biggest culprits, while a fake European <a href="http://www.ce-marking.org/what-is-ce-marking.html">CE safety mark</a> appears on many. These might not just be limited to shadier outlets, either -- apparently, several retailers are stocking them, which could mean any of the bigger stores. We suggest using this as an excuse to pick up Hori's effortlessly stylish <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/06/hori-charge-stand-delayed-coming-to-america/">DS Lite Charge Stand</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/31301/Dodgy-DS-charges-flood-High-Street">MCV</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/uk-sees-plague-of-dodgy-ds-chargers/">UK sees plague of dodgy DS chargers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jul 2008 16:15:00 EST. Sure, being able to vacuum <em>and</em> cook up a delicious waffle is interesting, but then your carpet smells like a waffle, too. This is why we're pretty interested in the potential of <a href="http://www.divineo.cn/cgi-bin/div-cn/psp-cs5.html">this new PSP charger stand</a> -- it does it all! <br /><br />While your PSP charges on the stand, you can listen to music and even play stuff on your TV. It comes with built-in headphone jacks and multi-card slots. It's essentially got all the functionality of a non-charging PSP, and it's just under $17. If you're looking for a charging solution, this might be your cup of tea.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=119330">DCEmu</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/11/divineos-new-5-in-1-charger-stand-for-psp-does-it-all/">Divineo's new 5-in-1 charger stand for PSP does it all</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Jul 2008 23:25:00 EST. When we last <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/hori-charge-stand-is-style-over-substance-just-our-thing/">previewed this accessory</a>, Play Asia had put up a product page promising to deliver the stylish dock to your doorstep for $16.90 (plus $5.90 s/h) once it debuted in Japan this month. <br /><br />Checking the online import shop earlier today, we spotted a pair of notable details, bad news and good news, if you will:.<br />
<ul>
    <li>Bad news: The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/charger">charging base's</a> shipping date has been moved to May</li>
    <li>Good news: There is now a listing for the White DS Lite Charge Stand bearing a US flag, scheduled for June and priced at $14.99. </li>

Is Hori's North American arm planning to bring the dock to the states as it has with many of the company's other DS accessories? If so, it might worth waiting an extra month to pick up the Charge Stand at a local store for a few bucks less. You know, the <a href="http://www.aoltv.com/2006/07/30/futurama-hell-is-other-robots/">kind of juice you can jack on with</a>.<br /><br />So do you have a special place set aside for charging? React's Wii Recharge Dock isn't just a little bit late to the party but, at $50, it's a little pricier than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/19/rechargeable-wii-remote-batteries-and-dock-in-2007/">some of</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/10/nykos-ps3-and-wii-charging-stations/">the competition</a>. But then we got to figuring that since it charges the four included 550 mAh batteries in four Wiimotes, not just two, the proportional value is clear. And considering the Wiimote is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/gamepro-tests-console-controller-battery-life/">scientifically proven</a> to eat batteries the way Mario downs mushrooms, some of you might consider a device such as this nothing short of a necessity, what with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/SSBB/">Brawl</a> coming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/15/smash-bros-brawl-delayed-in-us-until-march-9/">soon</a> and all.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/react-recharge-dock-powers-4-wiimotes-for-50/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>React Recharge Dock powers 4 Wiimotes for $50</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/react-recharge-dock-powers-4-wiimotes-for-50/">React Recharge Dock powers 4 Wiimotes for $50</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Feb 2008 02:02:00 EST. <br />Horror of horrors -- last night, while vacuuming, someone in the house (read: <em>not your current writer!</em>) stripped the cable of the DS Lite charger. After the tears and accusations, it occurred to us that hinge cracks and falls aren't the only accidents that can befall our beloved handhelds. Anything similar happen to yours? We know <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/29/ds-daily-lost/">lost games</a> can be a problem, and we've heard about lost styli. If <em>that's</em> what you're looking for, you could just smash the things with your shoe and save some money.<br /><br />According to most of the Amazon reviewers who turned in low ratings, the thing doesn't know when to stop charging its batteries, causing it to overheat and fry the attached remote. Reports of "incredibly hot" Wiimotes, "burn marks," and "killed Wii Motes" are widespread (among Amazon reviewers), lending <em>us</em> enough reason to avoid the product, especially with <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Nyko-87000-Wii-Charge-Station/dp/B000LFJNF2/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1199122979&amp;sr=1-2">non-destructive alternatives</a> on the market.<br /><br />Amusingly, Amazon sellers seem to be trying to capitalize on the sudden notoriety of the product. Two Marketplace sellers are offering Wii Recharge Stations starting at $174.44.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/12/rumor-wii-recha.html">Game|Life</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/31/psyclone-wiimote-recharger-de-charges-wiimotes-permanently/">Rumor: Psyclone Wiimote recharger de-charges Wiimotes permanently</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 31 Dec 2007 14:15:00 EST. It looks like Sony's releasing an official external battery charger. At least, that's according to photos unearthed from SCEA's press site. An external charging solution is great for those that have more than one battery -- quite possibly because of the purchase of a new extended-life battery. No official details on price or release date yet, but we're sure that Sony isn't really <em>rushing</em> to get this peripheral out into the wild.<br /><br />[<strong>Update:</strong> The only difference between this and a previously released charger is that this Sony official peripheral is also compatible with the PSP-2000 series. At least, according to the packaging. <strike>We're pretty sure the original chargers will also work with the new systems.</strike> The old battery chargers <strong><em>do not</em></strong> work with the PSP-2000.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/20/official-external-battery-charger-found/">Official external battery charger found [Update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Dec 2007 21:15:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Nyko/">Nyko</a> is releasing a second version of its PS3 controller charge station and it's the bomb. Actually, it looks more like a bomb detonator. The company says the Charge Base 2 has a faster recharge rate and comes with two light-weight Mini USB adaptors that attach to the controller and "allow for easy drop and charge functionality." <br /><br />The <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2007/12/12/charge-two-controllers-quickly-with-charge-base-2/">price</a> of the unit is $30 and should be available now at retailers. So if you've got extra AC plugs about the place and just can't be bothered with plugging your Sixaxis into the PS3, here's another option.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/13/nyko-introduces-new-ps3-controller-charger/">Nyko introduces new PS3 controller charger</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Dec 2007 04:00:00 EST. Oh no! You're in the middle of <em>SOCOM: Tactical Strike</em>, and as you're about to infiltrate the terrorist stronghold, you see your PSP's power indicator flashing. You haven't reached a checkpoint yet, and you certainly don't want to give up now! What are you to do? Act like Batman.<br /><br />A cute new device in Japan allows users to charge their PSP (and other mobile devices) simply by connecting it to a handy wristband. The inconspicuous accessory will provide an extra 3.5 hours of battery life for your PSP when you need it. We're hoping that future versions of this peripheral will allow you to shoot a grappling hook, spider webs, and lasers. Considering this is from Japan, we're nearly certain it'll happen.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.psp-vault.com/Article1234.psp">PSP-Vault</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/20/the-power-to-charge-your-psp-on-your-wrist/">The power to charge your PSP ... on your wrist!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 20 Oct 2007 13:11:00 EST. And it only costs $19.99.<br /><br />Sounds like a win-win situation to us.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/18/mad-catz-supports-breast-cancer-foundation-through-accessory-pac/">Mad Catz supports Breast Cancer Foundation through accessory pack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Oct 2007 11:30:00 EST. <br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/17/tiny-ds-knock-off-keychain-for-tiny-hands/">Knockoff</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/04/17/ds-knockoff-analyzed/">electronics</a> are always good for an easy laugh, and this AC adapter is no exception to that rule. Cory Doctorow (of Boing Boing fame) recently spotted the above "Ninetudo DS" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/charger">charger</a> at a Buy Now shop in Beijing, China. The product's packaging brings up a few questions:
<ol>
    <li>What happened to the upper half of the DS logo's S?</li>
    <li>Why is there a photo of a butterfly on the handheld's top screen? And why isn't there anything pictured on the bottom touchscreen?</li>
    <li>With this product being manufactured and sold in China, shouldn't there be some sort of <a href="http://ds.ique.com/">iQue</a> branding?</li>
    <li>Was "Ninetudo" seriously the best they could come up with?</li>

If his doleful eyes and floppy ears become too much for your frail heart to take in, you could always drop another snapshot into the picture frame instead, but you'd first have to endure the pitiful whines of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puppy">puppy</a> who's been punished unjustly.<br /><br />The fused <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dock/">dock</a> and photo stand is available at select Japanese retailers for about 1,420 yen (approximately $11.50), offered in white, navy blue, light blue, pink, and black variations. Interestingly, the charging stand uses the DS Lite's adapter for power, rather than its own proprietary plug. Check past the post break, empty leash in hand, for a comparison image of the cradle's various colors.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/07/a-ds-lite-dock-and-a-photo-of-a-depressed-dog/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>A DS Lite dock and a photo of a depressed dog</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/07/a-ds-lite-dock-and-a-photo-of-a-depressed-dog/">A DS Lite dock and a photo of a depressed dog</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 07 Jul 2007 18:00:00 EST. This Wiimote <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/charger/">charger</a> from <a href="http://www.princeton.co.jp/">Princeton</a> uses the same principle to restore energy to the Wiimote that we use to restore energy to our own bodies: the principle of <em>kickin' back.</em> It provides a nice serene space for your remote to take a load off and just forget about the day. For best results, put it in front of the TV, or on a nearby beach. Oh, also you have to plug it into the Wii's USB port for some reason.<br /><br />We <em>do not </em>recommend the use of bubble bath for Wiimote recharging purposes. Please stick to approved <a href="http://achewood.com/index.php?date=02202006">recumbent</a> recharge methods only.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20070627/prin.htm?ref=rss">GAME Watch</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/27/recumbent-wiimote-charger/">Recumbent Wiimote charger</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Jun 2007 11:20:00 EST. Much like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=nyko">Nyko's cradle</a>, Intec's dock comes with two rechargeable battery packs and a base that lights up to signal when it's in use. That's about where the similarities between the two end.<br /><br />Intec's dock does away with the AC plug and allows you to conveniently charge the battery packs via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/usb">USB</a> instead. Adding onto its appeal, at $25.00, the dock comes in $5.00 cheaper than Nyko's. Sounds like an easy choice between the two, right?<br /><br />Where Intec's dock fails is its inability to charge both battery packs at the same time. You can't even charge the packs while they're in locked in the controllers! Those two slots for the remotes? Just for display! If you want to recharge a battery pack, you have to remove it from the controller and plant it into the dock.<br /><br />This sort of half-assed setup might have flown back in November, but months after competitors have already put out more advanced solutions? Even with the five-dollar savings, you'd be wise to avoid this dock. That said, jump past the post break anyway, and check out the strange blurb we spotted on Intec's packaging. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://wii-news.dcemu.co.uk/wii-charging-station-with-rechargeable-battery-packs-61609.html">DCEmu</a>]<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/30/intecs-wii-charging-station-decent-dock-or-crap-cradle/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Intec's Wii Charging Station: decent dock or crap cradle?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/30/intecs-wii-charging-station-decent-dock-or-crap-cradle/">Intec's Wii Charging Station: decent dock or crap cradle?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Apr 2007 19:30:00 EST. If you're always on the go, chances are you have a spare PSP battery. But how does one keep it charged? An external battery charger, like the PS-P Battery Charger (pictured above), should do the trick. <a href="http://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/pspcell/019061">PSP GadgetZ</a> has taken some pictures of this interesting peripheral--quite possibly one of the cutest we've seen yet! Although this mini-PSP can't play games, browse the web, or play music, it <em>can</em> charge your PSP batteries. And that's all we want it to do.<br /><br />Unfortunately, we've been unable to find a way to purchase this accessory. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009KVDNO/103-5578340-0689461?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=B0009KVDNO">amazon.com</a> carries a not-as-cute official Sony battery charger for a pricey $30.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/22/adorable-psp-shaped-battery-charger/">Adorable PSP-shaped battery charger</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 22 Apr 2007 17:00:00 EST. The product seemed silly to us at first, but we suppose that something like this could be useful when we're playing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/vc">Virtual Console</a> releases or games that require us to hold the remote sideways like <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/excitetruck">Excite Truck</a></em>. Having a convenient way to recharge the battery via USB will also come in handy for future marathon sessions with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fireemblem">Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn</a></em> when Nintendo brings the time-consuming SRPG stateside.<br /><br />SuccessHK no longer has the rechargeable controller grip in stock, but there are still a few listed on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ebay">eBay</a> for about $9.99 ($8.00 shipping). One strange thing to note about the packaging is its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wiisports"><em>Wii Sports</em></a> branding. Having your remote locked into the plastic frame would make playing any of the Wii Sports' games awkward. Check out that Wii logo too! The last two letters look more like a u-umlaut than lowercase i's. Head past the post break for a larger shot of the grip!<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://wii-news.dcemu.co.uk/wii-rechargeable-controller-grip-1800-mah-60417.html">DCEmu</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/20/rechargeable-controller-grip/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rechargeable Controller Grip</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/20/rechargeable-controller-grip/">Rechargeable Controller Grip</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Apr 2007 10:25:00 EST. Sure, that one has USB support, which really drives the value up for us, but this one matches our Wii and cradles our DS Lite in such a loving manner it looks as if the DS Lite is a trophy. Some kind of reward for our hard work beyond our calloused hands and high stress level. While we could care less about the company's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/17/joytech-to-put-cheap-plastic-crap-on-your-wii-remote/">plastic rackets</a> -- although the second definition of "racket" is fitting -- we're interested in this disposable-battery replacement.<br /><br />We expected Nintendo to release this sort of charger, but if it works, we don't care who makes it. Joytech gives you rechargeable batteries and replacement covers for two Remotes. Nestle a controller into the dock, and it will lap up delicious electrons. While the design isn't perfect -- the pull-out claws that hold the Nunchuks look useless -- the $39 charger may be able to draw power from the Wii's USB port, saving an outlet in our rat's nest of power cables.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://feeds.engadget.com/~r/weblogsinc/engadget/~3/63725670/">Engadget</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/19/rechargeable-wii-remote-batteries-and-dock-in-2007/">Rechargeable Wii Remote batteries and dock in 2007</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Dec 2006 16:25:00 EST. In fact, it'll charge pretty much anything you've got so long as it has a USB charge port, which
gives it a slight advantage over the <a
href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/01/27/pigs-fly-get-eight-hours-of-play-on-a-psp/">other well-reviewed charger</a>
we featured before. At 50 bones, this Li-Ion battery pack will grant you 10 more hours of juice and looks to be a great
buy for anyone looking to get their gaming on for those cross-country road trips or international flights, although we'd
have to mention our reservations at the resulting dialogue with having to stick this squarish peripheral in your pocket
during transport ("Is that a portable power pack in your pocket..." Oh, never mind.)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/02/02/portable-power-pack-provides-persistent-playtime/">Portable power pack provides persistent playtime</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Feb 2006 20:00:00 EST.
