You should read through the whole thread if you're interested, but PC Gamer has kindly grabbed <a href="http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/11/05/informative-infinity-ward-animator-talks-fps-design-animations/">some of the most fascinating insights</a>.<br /><br />Glasgo says that "most serial numbers on guns in <em>CoD</em> have significance" of some kind, whether it's just a reference to his workout gym of choice, or a hint to something in the game's larger mythology.<br /><br />He also explains that while gun aficionados will often tell him he's made some sort of technical mistake in rendering realistic weapons, the choice to do things differently is simply creative. For example, you're never supposed to point a real gun anywhere but forward even while reloading it, but following that rule <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_sIKgmvqaU">would make some of these</a> just so ... boring.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/08/infinity-ward-animator-talks-first-person-flourishes/">Infinity Ward animator talks first-person flourishes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Nov 2012 03:00:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/square-enix">Square Enix</a> has revealed detailed information about the five new "clans" found within the races of Eorzea, the realm in which upcoming MMO <a href="http://tuaw.com/tag/final-fantasy-xiv"><em>Final Fantasy XIV</em></a> will take place. Clans offer up two slightly different character options <a href="http://www.eorzeapedia.com/2010/03/30/japanese-official-site-update-new-clan-information/">within the five overall race choices</a> -- for example, if you want to play as a burly Roegadyn, you can go with the paler and more subdued "Sea Wolf" fisherman clan, or heat things up with the rock-and-fire influenced "Hellsguard" clan. Information on all of the races and clans is now available <a href="http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/">on Square Enix's website</a>.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately for <em>Final Fantasy</em> fans, we looked through the whole list of clans, and not a single one of the races lets you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/28/impressive-star-wars-the-old-republics-sith-warrior-class-det/">become a Sith Warrior</a>. Sure, the Miqo'te Seekers of the Sun look cute and all, but is their one stated goal to <em>kill Jedi</em>? No? Pass, then, sorry.<br />

Considering the dichotomy of the moral decisions (see: good or evil) offered to the silent hero of the original <em>BioShock</em>, many have wondered how the upcoming undersea adventure, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bioshock-2"><em>BioShock 2</em></a>, would take his actions in the first installment into account. Without a save game import feature (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/24/mass-effect-save-file-transfers-hundreds-of-decisions-to-seque/">ala <em>Mass Effect 2</em></a>), how could the sequel register the player's decisions in the original? The answer was recently revealed by <em>Bioshock 2</em>'s creative director, Jordan Thomas: <em>Ambiguity</em>, my dear Watson.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/11/06/hero-of-bioshock-becomes-religious-figure-in-bioshock-2/">Speaking to MTV</a>, Thomas explained that, "the things that he did are being fiercely debated by the splicers, because we wanted to support any of the choices the player could have made in the first game." He later added, "It's become kind of a religious question; what he did at the end of <em>BioShock 1</em>." This plot device is probably for the best -- if the splicers in <em>Bioshock 2</em> knew about our actions in the first game, all they'd debate about is why we spent ten hours wandering aimlessly around the city, desperately hunting for <em>audio cassettes.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/06/Actions-of-BioShock-protagonist-debated-by-characters-in-sequel/">Actions of BioShock protagonist debated by characters in sequel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Nov 2009 16:00:00 EST. (Hint: the obvious alterations concern <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/03/29/hdmi-issues-at-gdc-or-simply-no-cable/">high-def output</a> and wireless connectivity -- though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/09/ps3-pad-loses-dualshock-name-and-vibration-but-picks-up-wii-esqu/">Bluetooth controllers</a> should work just fine with both, with or without any chrome case highlighting.)<br /><br />So what's HDMI, built-in multimedia card-reader slots, wireless internet connectivity, and an extra 40 gigabytes' hard disk space worth to you? $100? Now that Sony's gone with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/02/03/rumor-roundup-more-than-one-ps3-sku/">the 2-SKU approach</a> with its next-gen hardware (a la the Xbox 360's <em>premium</em> and "Core" systems), we can expect some tough consumer choices after six months -- with console shortages possibly for another six months after that -- as $100 separates the <em>base</em> $499 and <em>premium</em> $599 versions of Sony's "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/08/playstation-3-in-its-final-form/">Clear Black</a>" hope.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/02/25/hddvd/">HDMI is important</a> to those who want to take full advantage of Blu-ray high def and have the new screens to use it; MemoryStick, SD, and CompactFlash slots would be nice for the PS3 memory-card users and those will run multimedia on the system; Wi-Fi's the only way to avoid stringing ethernet cables for online access; and 360 owners might appreciate the full 60GB available to potential buyers of the <em>premium</em> PS3 model. Neither model comes with a second HDMI port; thankfully, one should hopefully be all most users need. The details are laid out in a feature-comparison table at the end of Sony's official PS3 hardware press release, available in both <a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/060509ae.pdf">Adobe Reader</a> and <a href="http://presscenter.playstation.com/Content/detailslots/1339/PS3%20US%20FINAL%20-%20PS3%20Lttrhead.doc">Microsoft Word</a> formats. Determine what's most important to your PS3 ambitions there.<br /><br />[Image pieced together from <a href="http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&amp;message.id=346633">the PlayStation.com forums</a>; thanks, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/08/playstation-3-launch-details-emerge-from-e3/#c1479300">Guru</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/09/cheaper-ps3-loses-hdmi-slots-wi-fi-40gb/">Cheaper PS3 loses HDMI, slots, Wi-Fi, 40GB</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 May 2006 03:32:00 EST.
