Nintendo will start shipping the $20 add-on April 19.<br /><br />We've contacted Nintendo to find out if this is exclusive to their online store or indicative of a full-on US retail launch. The 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro is the second iteration of Nintendo's supplemental analog stick, following the original GameStop-exclusive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/circle-pad-pro">Circle Pad Pro</a> made available alongside <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/resident-evil-revelations"><em>Resident Evil: Revelations</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/17/3ds-xl-circle-pad-pro-april-19/">3DS XL Circle Pad Pro on sale through Nintendo store, ships Apr. 19</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Apr 2013 21:00:00 EST. The peripheral will cost &yen;1,500, or about $20.<br /><br />Revealed by Nintendo back in September, there are currently no plans to offer the 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro here in the US. The original 3DS received a similar - though smaller - version of the peripheral, selling it on its official store and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/13/circle-pad-pro-gloms-onto-the-3ds-on-feb-7-exclusively-at-games/">exclusively at retail</a> with GameStop. Our pals over at Engadget had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/21/engadget-tries-out-the-3ds-xl-circle-pad-pro/">some hands-on time with the 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro</a> last month during <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tgs-2012">TGS 2012</a>, so feel free to check out their hands-on video. After being outed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/28/nintendo-3ds-xl-getting-supersized-with-circle-pad-pro-extension/">earlier this year</a>, the 3DS XL <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/circle-pad-pro">Circle Pad Pro</a> now has its first image on the <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/hardware/accessories/index.html">Nintendo Japan website</a>. With its latest attachment, the console has somehow become <em>even bigger</em>. We can only hope Nintendo goes down the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_32X">Genesis</a> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Mega-CD">route</a> and tries to create as many unwieldy attachments as possible. Maybe the next 3DS XL attachment can come with dumbbells.<br /><br />Aw, we're only teasing. While its North American release remains uncomfirmed, the 3DS XL's newest attachment is likely to arrive on Western shores. As for when and how much, there isn't even word on either its release date or price in Japan yet - so don't make a big deal about it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/20/first-image-of-3ds-xl-circle-pad-pro-appears-makes-3ds-xxl/">First image of 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro appears, makes 3DS XXL</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Sep 2012 09:00:00 EST. Instead, Nintendo's launching an evolved Circle Pad Pro attachment for the larger 3DS "some time this year," according to Famitsu (via <a href="http://andriasang.com/con1pd/3ds_circle_pad_expansion/">Andriasang</a>).<br /><br />The attachment was outed in the latest issue of the Japanese game mag, though it sadly lacked images (perhaps they were too large for a standard magazine?). Nintendo hasn't confirmed the attachment for North American retail just yet, but it's a safe bet it'll arrive here as well.<br /><br />And yes - <em>stop worrying</em> - the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/19/kid-icarus-uprisings-3ds-stand-holds-up-to-scrutiny/">3DS stand</a> from <em>Kid Icarus</em> is said to still work with this new, supersized attachment. <em>Whew</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/28/nintendo-3ds-xl-getting-supersized-with-circle-pad-pro-extension/">Nintendo 3DS XL getting supersized with Circle Pad Pro extension</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Jun 2012 08:30:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/circle-pad-pro">Circle Pad Pro</a> is expanding its leftward reach to include <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kid-icarus-uprising"><em>Kid Icarus: Uprising </em></a>on the 3DS. Without the Circle Pad Pro, <em>Uprising </em>players will use the stylus to aim and rotate the camera (generally with their right hands) and the 3DS' built-in circle pad to move Pit on land. The Circle Pad Pro will allow left-handed players to aim with their dominant hand, while moving Pit with their right.<br />
<br />
Producer Masahiro Sakurai didn't know the specs of the Circle Pad Pro before<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/monster-hunter-tri-g">Monster Hunter Tri-G</a></em> was announced, meaning he wasn't able "to do anything big with it in the time we had," he told <a href="http://www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/34138/kid-icarus-uprising-works-with-circle-pad-pro/">Official Nintendo Magazine</a>. Still, Sakurai said he probably wouldn't have used the Circle Pad Pro too much because it "would end up being just the same as controls on other platforms and I think the quick aiming possible with the touch panel suits the game best."<br />
<br />
Right, "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/vita/">other platforms</a>." Don't worry -- we know what you mean there, Sakurai.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/10/kid-icarus-uprising-gets-left-handed-mode-with-circle-pad-pro/">Kid Icarus: Uprising gets left-handed mode with Circle Pad Pro</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 Jan 2012 19:00:00 EST. The 3DS Circle Pad Pro, available next <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/13/circle-pad-pro-gloms-onto-the-3ds-on-feb-7-exclusively-at-games/">February at GameStop</a>, has plenty of room inside for a family of four. Given the $20 peripheral's guts, let's all agree now to act surprised when Nintendo announces a dual pad 3DS sometime next year. Also, be sure to call your local RE/MAX agent if you're looking to move into the 3DS Circle Pad Pro next year. Space is sure to fill fast.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/19/3ds-circle-pad-pro-features-spacious-interiors-little-natural-l/">3DS Circle Pad Pro features spacious interiors, little natural light</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Dec 2011 13:30:00 EST. You'll be able to get your hands - and specifically your right hand - on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/circle-pad-pro">Circle Pad Pro</a> in the US on February 7th, when the peripheral goes on sale exclusively at GameStop for $19.99. That's a full two weeks before the PlayStation Vita reminds portable gamers why a second analog stick is so important.<br />
<br />
In addition to the obvious second stick, the Circle Pad Pro adds "additional shoulder buttons to give it a feel more akin to traditional console controllers." You'll get to put those shoulder buttons and that second stick to work playing both <em>Resident Evil Revelations</em> - which is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/31/a-circle-pad-revelation-for-resident-evil-revelations/">much better with the peripheral</a> - and <em>Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater</em>, which is targeted for a loose Q1 2012 release. While both <em>Revelations</em> and the Circle Pad Pro share a February 7th release, they don't appear to share Europe's "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/30/resident-evil-revelations-bundled-with-circle-pad-pro-in-europe/">special limited edition</a>" bundle offering. That's alright, you're probably waiting for the inevitable redesign with the second stick built-in, right?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/13/circle-pad-pro-gloms-onto-the-3ds-on-feb-7-exclusively-at-games/">Circle Pad Pro gloms onto 3DS on Feb. 7, exclusively at GameStop for $20</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Dec 2011 08:45:00 EST. Andriasang found a report from someone who got the 3DS <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/circle-pad-pro">Circle Pad Pro</a> (and <em>Monster Hunter Tri-G</em>) a couple of days early, and who found something interesting in the manual. According to the report, once you insert the required AAA battery into the expansion device, it'll run for 480 hours. If this is accurate, you won't have to deal with the annoyance of unscrewing the battery cover very often.<br />
<br />
You might be wondering, if the device uses only a little energy, why it doesn't just draw from the 3DS's battery. The answer, of course, is the <em>3DS's battery</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/08/rumor-3ds-circle-pad-pro-runs-for-480-hours-on-one-aaa-battery/">Rumor: 3DS Circle Pad Pro runs for 480 hours on one AAA battery</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Dec 2011 18:55:00 EST. The monsters of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/resident-evil-revelations"><em>Resident Evil: Revelations</em></a> will arrive in Europe on January 27, and they'll bring another monster along with them: the 3DS-enlarging Circle Pad Pro. <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/news/2011/are_you_ready_for_the_revelations_ahead_46923.html">Nintendo UK</a> announced today that the 3DS attachment will be bundled with a "special limited edition" package of Capcom's horror game. <em>Revelations</em> will also be sold separately.<br />
<br />
This is the first official announcement of a release date for the peripheral outside of Japan. Capcom USA has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/31/a-circle-pad-revelation-for-resident-evil-revelations/">shown the game</a> to US press with the attachment, indicating future availability in North America. Capcom USA also said there were <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/31/resident-evil-revelations-supports-save-data-reset-no-plans-fo/">no plans</a> for a Circle Pad Pro/<em>Revelations </em>bundle here.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/30/resident-evil-revelations-bundled-with-circle-pad-pro-in-europe/">Resident Evil: Revelations bundled with Circle Pad Pro in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Nov 2011 14:00:00 EST. Capcom has learned its lesson. During its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/capcom-gamers-day-2011">Gamer's Day</a> event in San Francisco, the company confirmed that <em>Resident Evil: Revelations</em> will allow players to wipe their save data, should they choose. For the unaware, this lack of functionality in Capcom's previous 3DS title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/resident-evil-the-mercenaries-3d"><em>Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D</em></a>, caused <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/04/capcom-claims-re-the-mercenaries-3d-save-controversy-wont-happ/">quite an uproar</a>. Admittedly, it's possible to wipe the save data, it's just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/04/if-you-must-delete-that-resident-evil-the-mercenaries-3d-save/">extremely complicated</a>.<br />
<br />
In addition to that news nugget, Capcom also revealed that <em>Resident Evil: Revelations</em> will support the Circle Pad Pro, but currently has no plans to offer a bundle. The Circle Pad Pro is currently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/13/nintendo-3ds-bizarre-circle-pad-attachment-coming-to-japan-dece/">slated to launch in Japan</a> on December 10. Nintendo has yet to reveal launch details for North America.<br />
<br />
Capcom had a working unit on hand at Gamer's Day -- you can <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/31/a-circle-pad-revelation-for-resident-evil-revelations/">read all about it here</a>. <em>Resident Evil: Revelations</em> launches on February 7.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/31/resident-evil-revelations-supports-save-data-reset-no-plans-fo/">Resident Evil: Revelations supports save data reset; no plans for Circle Pad bundle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 31 Oct 2011 12:55:00 EST. A Japanese trademark uncovered by <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2011/10/25/nintendo-3ds-circle-pad-attachment-dubbed-circle-pad-pro-for-the-west/">Siliconera</a> offers a clue as to what Nintendo may call the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/slidepad">3DS Expansion Slide Pad</a> outside of Japan -- even though the peripheral has yet to be announced for release outside of Japan. The fact that there even is such a name suggests that a western release is likely (and unsurprising).<br />
<br />
The trademark refers to the "Nintendo 3DS Circle Pad Pro," a name reminiscent of the "<a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/classic-controller-pro">Classic Controller Pro</a>." That makes sense, as the peripherals are similar: they're both controllers with comfortable grips, and designed almost exclusively for use with a <em>Monster Hunter</em> game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/25/trademark-for-circle-pad-pro-suggests-new-3ds-expansion-slide/">Trademark for 'Circle Pad Pro' suggests new 3DS Expansion Slide Pad name</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Oct 2011 11:45:00 EST.
