<div align="left">With all the recent talk of having <em>Call of Duty 6</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/03/bizarre-making-bond-title-for-2009-new-racing-ip-is-mario-kart/">ready</a> for a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/16/infinity-wards-call-of-duty-6-aiming-for-2009-release/">2009 release</a>, it should come as no surprise that <em>COD6 </em>(or <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, </em>if you're a purist) is knee-deep in development. So says famed voice actor Ken Lally (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/13/actor-ken-lally-mo-capped-as-resident-evil-5s-wesker/"><em>RE5 </em>star</a> and <em>Heroes </em>veteran), who revealed to <a href="http://www.thestream.tv/watch.php?v=1182">Coin-Op TV</a> (see 45:30 mark of video) that he has done voice work for <em>"Call of Duty 6,"</em> in addition to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dragon-age-origins/"><em>Dragon Age: Origins</em></a>. How's that for confirmation? Sort of makes Activision's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/04/activision-call-of-duty-6-guitar-hero-5-talk-speculative/">"speculative" comment</a> seem .... well, speculative.<br /></div>

<br /><strong>Update:</strong> We have removed this post from our front page at the request of Ken Lally, who is in some "hot water." C'mon Activision, what'd Ken <em>really</em> do wrong? Confirm his voice is in a game you already <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2008/12/03/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2-announced/">announced</a>? He promoted your game -- for free! Let's cut the guy a break. Still holding out for new <em>Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare </em>maps and playlists? We're sorry to be the ones to tell you this, but there aren't anymore maps or playlists. None. Go home, kid. Over at the <a href="http://forums.xbox.com/2/24621386/ShowPost.aspx#24621386">official Xbox forums</a>, Infinity Ward community manager Robert "fourzerotwo" Bowling rather strongly suggested that the development team has moved on from <em>COD4</em> and is gearing up for its next project, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/04/activision-call-of-duty-6-guitar-hero-5-talk-speculative/">whatever that</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/03/bizarre-making-bond-title-for-2009-new-racing-ip-is-mario-kart/">may be</a>.<br /><br />Bowling also discussed the issue of balance, perception and DLC. In his words, "If you include [the maps] out of box (shipped with game for no extra cost) then it's just ignored and people demand more. If you instead, decide to get the game out and then worry about beefing up the map selection via DLC, people say ... 'this should have been included in the shipped game.'" <br /><br />We hear ya buddy, now how about six more <em>COD4</em> map packs?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gamerlimit.com/2008/12/why-infinity-ward-isnt-planning-dlc-for-cod4mw/">Gamer Limit</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/12/cod4-seemingly-complete-infinity-ward-focused-on-future/">COD4 seemingly complete, Infinity Ward focused on future</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Dec 2008 20:00:00 EST. These game announcements come earlier and earlier, don't they? No sooner had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4"><em>Call of Duty 4</em></a> come out than we started hearing rumblings of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty"><em>Call of Duty 5</em></a>. Now, that game isn't even out and we're hearing word that <em>Call of Duty 6</em> is already being planned. But Treyarch won't be at the helm, it'll be Infinity Ward working their magic. That's literally all we know about the game.<br /><br />We're not sure whether Infinity Ward and Treyarch will keep alternating year-on-year, or whether Activision has so little faith in Treyarch that they're hedging their bets for 2009. The least we're hoping is that <em>COD6</em> won't be set during World War II. Though it still boggles our mind that we're already talking about the game, when its predecessor hasn't even been released.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/16/infinity-ward-pegged-to-develop-call-of-duty-6/">Infinity Ward pegged to develop Call of Duty 6</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Sep 2008 17:00:00 EST. Despite the franchise's previous installment barely managing to shift <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/04/call-of-duty-4-sells-10-million-units/">a meager 10 million copies</a>, Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith has made the surprising prediction that developer Infinity Ward would give it one more go with a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/02/an-altogether-new-call-of-duty-planned-for-2009/">sixth <em>Call of Duty</em> game</a>, due in 2009. "In 2009, we expect Infinity Ward to deliver another [entry of] ground-breaking quality, <em>Call of Duty 6</em>," said Griffith, speaking at Activision Blizzard's Analyst Day (via <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/54745">Shacknews</a>).<br /><br /><em>Call of Duty 6</em>, which may end up dropping the "6" in favor of a militaristic subtitle (eg. <em>Moderner Warfare</em>), will follow Treyarch's <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em>, due to be released <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/04/call-of-duty-world-at-war-confirmed-to-deploy-nov-11/">this November</a>. Shacknews does note an element of confusion in Griffith's statement, however, with the CEO stating, "For calendar year 2010, Infinity Ward is already at work on the next installment in the [Call of Duty] franchise." Is that like ... <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/10/xbox-world-360-infinity-ward-definitely-working-on-sci-fi-sho/"><em>Call of Duty: Space Warfare</em></a>?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/16/infinity-wards-call-of-duty-6-aiming-for-2009-release/">Infinity Ward's 'Call of Duty 6' aiming for 2009 release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Sep 2008 12:30:00 EST. When <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/infinity-ward">Infinity Ward</a> recently re-negotiated its contract with Activision, hints of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/07/infinity-ward-re-ups-with-activision-hints-at-new-franchise/">a new IP</a> were floated about. Now comes word from Xbox World 360 magazine (via <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=192606">CVG</a>) that the <em>Call of Duty 1, 2</em> and <em>4</em> developer is "definitely" working on a new sci-fi shooter.<br /><br />Although it's hard to imagine the <em>COD</em> series going into space or through multi-dimensional rifts, there is precedence for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/21/rumor-infinity-ward-giving-call-of-duty-6-a-sci-fi-setting/">a sci-fi <em>COD6 </em>rumor</a>. <em>Call Of Duty </em>sequel or original IP, either way, is this the new project they're "excited to be working on?" Until official confirmation (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/e3-2008">next week</a>, perhaps?), we're <em>definitely</em> filing this under rumor.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/10/xbox-world-360-infinity-ward-definitely-working-on-sci-fi-sho/">Report: Infinity Ward 'definitely' working on sci-fi shooter</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Jul 2008 15:25:00 EST. To be honest, we almost feel a bit dirty posting this rumor. The game that for all intents and purposes, <em>is COD5</em>, is currently still <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/21/here-it-is-call-of-duty-world-at-war-debut-trailer/">being teased</a>, and there's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/21/rumor-infinity-ward-giving-call-of-duty-6-a-sci-fi-setting/">already rumors</a> about the <em>next </em>game? Indeed there is, thus the faintly dirty feeling. Apparently an Infinity Ward team member <a href="http://talkplaystation.com/cod4-developers-making-a-sci-fi-title/">spoke to</a> someone from TalkPlaystation.com and told them that the company is at work on a new sci-fi title that may or may not see reveal at E3.<br /><br />With <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em> returning to the familiar territory of WWII, and the series' current hit staking the claim of <em>Modern Warfare</em> it would seem to make sense that Infinity Ward would want to jump things into the future. If this ends up being accurate (heck, they could be working on a non-<em>COD</em> sci-fi game too) let's hope Infinity Ward can do better than some other popular franchises that have used a futuristic setting. We can't help but get flashbacks of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_2142">ill-fated <em>Battlefield: 2142</em></a> ...<br /><br />[Via<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/21/rumor-infinity-ward-giving-call-of-duty-6-a-sci-fi-setting/"> Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/21/rumor-cod6-goes-sci-fi/">Rumor: COD6 goes sci-fi?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 21 Jun 2008 14:00:00 EST.
