Codies may have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/18/its-a-wrap-for-operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising-dlc/">grounded the DLC chopper</a> for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising"><em>Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising</em></a>, but that hasn't stopped Valve from dropping a nuke on its price tag and featuring it as <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/news/3556/">the Steam weekend deal</a>. Up until Monday, you can grab the military shooter for a meager $7.50 -- 75 percent off the usual asking price of $30.<br />
<br />
As for what to do with the cash you save should you choose to download, you could tuck it in the piggy bank or even use it towards financing your own real war in a fictitious country. We really wouldn't suggest that, though -- real life is woefully lacking in respawns. Also, $12.50 only gets you like 1/300,000th of a tank.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/05/steam-weekend-deal-operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising-is-75-o/">Steam weekend deal: Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is 75% off</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 05 Mar 2010 18:00:00 EST. According to a recent report from the <a href="http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/technology/article6991032.ece">Times Online</a>, UK-based publisher Codemasters is "close to securing" a new investor and will announce the mysterious source "shortly." The news is said to be paired with an upcoming balance sheet restructuring -- a necessity, we imagine, after less than huge releases last year like <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/operation-flashpoint">Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fuel">Fuel</a></em>, and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/damnation">Damnation</a></em>. <br />
<br />
The report also indicates that current investors Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs will "inject new funds" into the publisher, seemingly holding steadfast in their efforts to build up Codemasters as a major publisher in the global market. The two investment firms have already sunk &pound;100 million ($163.3 million) into the company, so, um, well, maybe they know something we don't? We sure hope that's the case -- we certainly wouldn't want any of our golf buddies at Goldman Sachs to lose <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Business/goldman-sachs-top-earners-wall-streets-biggest-bonus/story?id=9540081">their bonuses</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/20/report-codemasters-to-secure-new-investor-amid-financial-woes/">Report: Codemasters to secure new investor amid financial woes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Jan 2010 01:00:00 EST. It's kinda this game's thing, you know?<br />
<br />
Overwatch adds two new multiplayer modes: Blindside and Supremacy. In the former, PLA players are tasked with accomplishing goals as quickly as possible, while the USMC players are charged with preventing the PLA team from achieving said goals. Supremacy pits players in a race to capture strategic checkpoints featuring "multipliers," including gun emplacements and air strikes.<br />
<br />
And, just like the Skirmish DLC before it, Overwatch also packs two new Fire Team Engagement missions to play though: Friendly Skies and Hostile Takeover. You can get the new DLC on Xbox 360 today for 400<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($5) -- PS3 players ($4.99) and PC gamers (free download) will have access "soon."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/21/operation-flashpoint-overwatch-dlc-on-xbox-360-today-ps3-and-pc/">Operation Flashpoint 'Overwatch' DLC on Xbox 360 today, PS3 &amp; PC 'soon'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Dec 2009 21:30:00 EST. Gavin Raeburn, the guy who may be most responsible for beloved Codies-brand racers like <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dirt-2">DiRT 2</a></em> and<em> </em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/grid"><em>GRID</em></a>, has resigned from the company, <a href="http://www.vg247.com/2009/10/01/drive-boss-raeburn-leaves-codies-official-statement/">VG247</a> reports. After a stint lasting more than 20 years, the former executive producer has "moved on to pastures new," said Gavin Cheshire, VP of Codemasters Development.<br /><br /> Cheshire added, "it's positive for any individual to move when they feel they're at the top." "[Raeburn] leaves having built an incredibly talented team that's led by key players who will drive our racing portfolio forward." There's no word on where Raeburn is headed, but there's a good chance <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bY75hnNzyk">it's Disney World</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/01/codemasters-go-to-driving-dev-departs/">Codemasters' go-to driving dev departs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Oct 2009 13:32:00 EST. Codemasters has just dropped word to <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/34328/Codemasters-to-capitalise-on-Ashes-for-Cricket-2009">MCV</a> that it is developing <em>Ashes Cricket 2009</em>, based on this year's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ashes">The Ashes</a> games. Codies brand manager Richard Gittins thinks that the game will be a big deal, based on how crazy people went over the games the last time they were hosted by the UK back in 2005, and expects strong sales.<br /><br />The game will feature all of the official matches and players (including big shots Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen and Ricky Pointing), as well as a Legends mode that tasks players with completing certain technical scenarios. <em>Ashes Cricket 2009</em> will release this summer on Xbox 360, PC and PS3, with a Wii version of the game releasing some time later this year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/19/codemasters-asks-fancy-a-bit-of-cricket/">Codemasters asks, 'Fancy a bit of Cricket?'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 May 2009 17:30:00 EST. Can the DS do "serious" racing games? As things stand, there are three such titles due this year on the handheld: <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/evolution-gt-joins-growing-field-of-serious-ds-racers/">Evolution GT</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/14/trackmania-ds-confirmed/">Trackmania DS</a></em>, and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/12/codemasters-reveals-ds-racer/#comments">Race Driver: GRID</a></em>. Developer Codemasters showed off the latter earlier today, and you can color us <em>impressed</em>. Watch the trailer above and you'll see <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcdDg30VBgo"><strike>pure, white stallions emerging from magnificently rendered waves</strike></a> that this is already looking remarkably fluid -- and that's with eight cars on track at once and an array of weather effects.<br /><br />It's an early lead for <em>GRID</em> then, though there's every chance that <em>Trackmania</em>'s vaunted track creation mode could see it pull back in front.<br /><br /><br />[Via press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/04/race-driver-grid-trailer-revs-up-impresses/">Race Driver: GRID trailer revs up, impresses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Apr 2008 18:00:00 EST. Codemasters is striving to do what nobody has done before: create a competent racing game on the DS, as they've announced they're working on <em>Race Driver: GRID</em>. While we're not ones to believe that the platform is designed for games in the racing genre, we remain cautiously optimistic about this. Codemasters released <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/the-b-ack-log-coming-clean-about-dirt/"><em>Dirt</em></a>, a game that even this Nintendo Fanboy can admit was <em>amazing</em>, so we're hoping this title shows the same care and polish.<br /><br />Check out some screens in our gallery below.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/12/codemasters-reveals-ds-racer/">Codemasters reveals DS racer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Feb 2008 17:00:00 EST.
