In Japan-always-seems-to-have-the-coolest-3DS-skins news, the country's getting a new Metallic Red 3DS as well as - and we admit we're particularly jealous of this one - a very limited edition 3DS XL skin based on Eevee, the adorable critter from the Pok&eacute;mon series.<br />
<br />
The striped 3DS XL, which rather resembles 1960s wallpaper, was spotted by <a href="http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/7117840.html">Hachima</a> being advertized in one of Japan's official Pok&eacute;mon Center stores. Like last year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/26/charizard-3ds-xl-lights-up-japanese-pokemon-centers/">Charizard 3DS XL</a>, the &yen;18,900 system ($185) is only available via reservations, which then go into a lottery to win the chance to buy the system. In other words, this is one of those times when the words 'limited edition' genuinely apply. The lottery is being held until June 3.<br />
<br />
More freely available is the Metallic Red 3DS below, which will be released for &yen;15,000 ($147) on June 13. Like the Light Blue and Gloss Pink models announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/27/3ds-light-blue-gloss-pink-models-announced-for-japan/">earlier this year,</a> it includes a 4GB SD card.<br />

The new color also gets its own <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/corporate/release/2013/img_130312/pack.jpg">spotted variant</a> in a bundle with the 3DS sequel to the popular Mii collecting sim <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tomodachi-collection">Tomodachi Collection</a></em>, priced &yen;22,800 ($237).<br /><br />In pretty-3DS-variant-maybe-headed-here news, the absurdly adorable <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/13/pikachu-3ds-xl-in-uk-dec-7-headlines-trio-of-holiday-handhelds/">Pikachu 3DS XL</a> could finally be coming over here after all. The brightly colored handhelds come with 4GB SD cards rather than the typical 2GB, and will be released on March 20 for &yen;15,000 (around $163). There's no word as yet on the models heading westwards.<br /><br />The new color choices do seem a bit gendered, but, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QI_(G_series)#Episode_7_.22Girls_and_Boys.22">as British quiz show <em>QI</em> revealed</a>, up until the 20th century pink was the traditional color for boys, and blue for girls. So if they do come here and you're a boy who fancies the Gloss Pink model or a girl the Light blue, just remember that in the 19th century you'd have been in concurring company - but since the consoles are only confirmed for Japan, this is all hypothetical babble anyway. Oh well.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/27/3ds-light-blue-gloss-pink-models-announced-for-japan/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>3DS Light Blue, Gloss Pink models announced for Japan</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/27/3ds-light-blue-gloss-pink-models-announced-for-japan/">3DS Light Blue, Gloss Pink models announced for Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Feb 2013 08:00:00 EST. Because you're worth it, Sony is introducing the "Spring Blossom Pink" PSP to Japan this March. This &yen;16,800 ($183) model elegantly calls out, "easy, breezy <em>and beautiful</em>." Due to its soft effortless features, it's the type of PSP that will have commuters asking, "Maybe she's born with it?" <br />
<br />
If this latest PSP-3000 color does jet set across the pacific, we'd be shocked if it wasn't bundled with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/24/new-hannah-montana-psp-bundle-includes-lilac-psp/">tween girl du jour</a>.<br />

The blue and pink Wii Remotes, first announced for Japan in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/20/see-the-wii-remote-in-pink-and-blue/">October</a>, are on the way to North America on February 14. Unlike the <em>awesome</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/14/black-wiimote-motionplus-and-nunchuk-out-before-black-friday/">black Wiimote</a>, neither the included MotionPlus peripheral nor the Wiimote jacket will be in a matching color.<br />
<br />
Still, as Nintendo reminds us, this is your first chance to have a different-color Wiimote for each of four players. Unless you've already solved that "problem" by sticking one of your friends with the (perhaps undeserved) stigma of being <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/18/nykos-wand-controller-easier-to-look-at-in-different-colors/">Nyko Wand</a> Guy.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/14/pink-and-blue-wiimotes-coming-valentines-day/">Pink and blue Wiimotes coming Valentine's Day</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Dec 2009 14:46:00 EST. It's a big system, and kind of a big mystery, given that the only advance notice we had of the thing was a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/26/report-nintendo-updating-dsi-with-bigger-screens-this-year/"><em>Nikkei</em> blurb</a> two days prior. While we can't answer the <em>big</em> questions, like how long this idea has been in the works, and whether a <em>bigger</em> handheld is a good idea as an alternative to the DS's continual miniaturization, we <em>can</em> round up what we know and can reasonably speculate about the DSi XL -- right after the jump.<br />

Brothers and sisters across the pond, we'd like to inform you that <a href="http://nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/news/2009/new_colours_for_the_nintendo_dsi_14609.html">three new DSi colors</a> are coming your way October 23. Joining the already available black and white models are the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/18/nintendo-launching-dsi-in-north-america-on-april-5/">US launch cotton candy blue model</a>, a metallic blue model (which looks exactly like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/03/09/enamel-navy-and-ice-blue-lites-on-display/">the navy DS Lite</a> from Japan) and a red model. Each DSi will come pre-loaded with the new Facebook integration feature and Flipnote Studio. <br /><br />Oh, and if you get one, don't forget to take it online for those 1,000 free DSi Points (offer ends March 2010).<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.electricpig.co.uk/2009/09/22/new-nintendo-dsi-colours-incoming/">Electrigpig</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/22/europe-gets-three-new-nintendo-dsi-colors-october-23/">Europe gets three new Nintendo DSi colors October 23</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Sep 2009 15:15:00 EST. Nintendo just announced that you'll finally be able to get a new color for your Wii ... mote. Black. This holiday season the company will be making a black Wiimote bundle available with the Wiimote and Wii MotionPlus, including a black Wii jacket, which is very slimming. However, you'll have to buy your black Nunchuk as a standalone, also available Holiday 2009.<br /><br />According to the presser, "The Black bundle is the first new color for the Wii Remote and Wii MotionPlus," so let's hope this means a rainbow of colors coming down the pipeline next year. Right now this has nothing to go with, especially since the Wii <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/16/nintendo-has-no-plans-for-black-wii-in-us/">won't be available in black</a> over here, <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/07/14/black-wii-system-comes-in-a-black-wii-box/">only in Japan</a>. No mention of new console colors, nor of the <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/06/22/black-wii-blue-controllers-on-display-at-world-hobby-fair/">blue Wiimote</a>, seen recently at the World Hobby Fair. Will this be a case of having to chase down colors and accessories in different regions?<br /><br />Nintendo is also bringing new DSi colors to North America, in the form of pink and white, available starting September 13. So we'll now have black, blue, white, and pink DSi ... why no <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/25/three-new-colors-for-dsi-in-japan/">funky colors like Japan</a>? They get all the cool stuff.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/nintendo-colors/">Nintendo Colors</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/nintendo-colors/#2247385"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/pinkdsi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/nintendo-colors/#2247384"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/whitedsi_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/nintendo-colors/#2247383"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/blackwiimote_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/01/nintendo-announces-new-wiimote-dsi-colors-for-north-america/">Nintendo announces new Wiimote, DSi colors for North America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Sep 2009 00:10:00 EST. Sony has the requisite silver, black, and white models here, but those handhelds are also joined by the more vibrant green, red, yellow, and blue models. What color are you leaning toward? Personally, we wouldn't mind grabbing that yellow one and slapping some Pikachu stickers on there. Lately, Sony has taken a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ULHVfEFuW8">Skittles-esque</a> liking for more PSP colors. Japan just got the new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/26/japan-getting-carnival-color-psp-systems/">Carnival set</a> and a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/24/new-hannah-montana-psp-bundle-includes-lilac-psp/">lilac</a> system is heading to North America soon. And, as it would appear, a lime green PSP is also in the works. According to Chinese website <a href="http://psp.vgsky.com/hardware/news/2009/04/10/11284311855.shtml">VGSky.com</a>, the lime green PSP-3000 model pictured above was produced in a Sony factory in China. It's currently unknown whether this specific color is being mass-produced or just a prototype. <br /><br />Japan already has 12 different PSP color variants released on the market, and North America will soon have six. Where will this new color go, if it is indeed legit? <br />

The PSP-3000 is about to get a little more stylish with the introduction of three new colors for the UK region. Mystic Silver and Pearl White versions of the console will be made available in the UK this month, while the third color -- Radiant Red -- will be released at some point in March. Other European regions may or may not get these new colors; we've yet to confirm. <br /><br />Details are light and we haven't even been given solid release dates or images by SCEE. These colors are, however, available already in Japan. We've found some images of Pearl White and Mystic Silver (above) and Radiant Red (after the break).<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/05/more-psp-colo-u-rs-releasing-in-the-uk/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>More PSP colo(u)rs releasing in the UK </em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/05/more-psp-colo-u-rs-releasing-in-the-uk/">More PSP colo(u)rs releasing in the UK </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Feb 2009 12:00:00 EST. Famitsu reports (via <a href="http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/917/917301p1.html?RSSwhen2008-10-08_000600&amp;RSSid=917301">IGN</a>) that Sony will release the 80GB PS3 in Japan for the same price as the current 40GB model. For a limited time the company will also include <em>Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III</em> with the system.<br /><br />Sony will also offer an 80GB PS3 <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> bundle with extra <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/dualshock-3">DualShock 3</a> controller for about $50 more than the standard 80GB version. The company also plans to have a <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> and DualShock 3 bundle for about $80. All the new 80GB models, including the <em>LBP</em> controller bundle, will be offered in black, white and silver color varieties (already available for the 40GB as well). Remember, all this information applies only to Japan, so don't go thinking it's going to be a white 80GB PS3 Christmas.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/80gb-ps3-releasing-in-japan-with-bundles-various-colors/">80GB PS3 releasing in Japan with bundles, various colors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Oct 2008 09:30:00 EST. Even though evidence for its arrival had become <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/28/some-stores-selling-silver-systems-soon-says-sale-sheet/"><em>overwhelming</em></a>, Nintendo has officially confirmed that the Metallic Silver DS Lite will become a dazzling, shiny reality in the U.S. on September 7th.<br /><br />Not including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/limited-edition-lites-a-history-of-sadness/">limited editions</a>, this will become the seventh color in the North American DS rainbow, though it has been available in Europe, Japan, and South Korea for around a year; and very nice it is too, in this European blogger's opinion. Any of you lovely people got an eye on this?<br /><br />[Via press release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/02/all-that-glitters-is-not-gold-silver-ds-confirmed-for-north-ame/">All that glitters is not gold: Silver DS confirmed for North America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Sep 2008 15:00:00 EST. The Gloss Silver DS Lite has been shining in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/17/nintendo-of-europe-promotes-their-product-to-brits-and-jealous-b/">Europe</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/30/two-new-ds-lite-colors-for-japan/">Japan</a> for some time now, but it hasn't made an appearance in North America as of yet. Well, that's not entirely true: half of the Metallic Silver DS Lite makes up the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/03/guitar-hero-ds-bundle-is-almost-perfect/"><em>Guitar Hero: On Tour</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/limited-edition-lust-a-visual-journey/">special edition</a> system. But we never got <em>the back part</em>.<br /><br />An unspecified "source" has suggested to GoNintendo's RawMeatCowboy that this tragic omission will be corrected this September, with the release of an all-silver DS. That sounds perfectly plausible to us, especially since its partner in shininess, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/metallic-rose-ds-lite-a-reality/">Metallic Rose</a>, has been released. <br /><br />It's nice to have such a low-impact rumor so close to E3. We may get a new color, and that would be nice; if not, that's okay too! It's certainly a lot tamer than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/11/nintendo-e3-2008-press-conference-lets-play-bingo/">all those other rumors</a> we've been dealing with.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/12/rumor-usa-to-be-awarded-silver/">Rumor: USA to be awarded Silver</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 12 Jul 2008 14:00:00 EST. It's been awhile since we asked you, and what with our community growing all the time, we figured it was time we discussed what model DS Lite you've gone with. Were you there for the first handhelds to release locally, or could you not simply wait and just had to import one like, say, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/04/14/and-then-there-was-lite/">the Enamel Navy model</a>? Are you still rocking the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/phat">Phat</a>? Yesterday, we talked a bit about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/limited-edition-lust-a-visual-journey/">limited edition DS Lites</a>. Sure, most of them are only available in Japan, but that doesn't keep us from drooling all over them anyway. Did you check them out? What do you think?<br /><br />When looking them over, it's hard for us to choose a favorite. With so many great handhelds in one place, you can understand the difficulty we're having in choosing one. So, why don't you? What's your favorite limited edition DS Lite? Fan of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/limited-edition-lites-a-history-of-sadness/891266/">the <em>Zelda</em>-themed handheld</a>, or more for the simple style of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/limited-edition-lites-a-history-of-sadness/891304/">the metallic blends</a>? Which is your favorite?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/01/ds-daily-choosing-a-favorite/">DS Daily: Choosing a favorite</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Jul 2008 08:00:00 EST. Still others already <em>had</em> a Lite, but found themselves lulled into spending even more money on a spiffy new shade. We just can't control ourselves in the face of such beauty. <br /><br />But what happens when you end up with a second DS? Unless you've been retro-fitted with an extra pair of arms, you probably don't need two handhelds. Rather than letting the extra sit around and collect dust, check out our suggested uses for that second DS.<br /><br /> <hr width="100%" size="2" />

<br />At the bottom of a GamesIndustry.biz story about some PS3 game (<em>Metal</em> ... <em>something</em>) failing to sell PS3s in the UK, we found news of how those <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/27/new-ds-lite-colors-found-in-the-wild/">new, Europe-only DS colors</a> had fared in Britain.<br /><br />And here's a surprise: Chart-Track (the company tasked with the exhausting job of tallying how many copies of <em>Brain Training</em> sell each week <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/another-week-in-europe">in Europe</a>) has revealed that while the swish new red, turquoise, and green models had a "massive impact" on sales, none could dislodge the current top-seller, which is ... <em>black</em>. How <em>boring</em>!<br /><br />Despite being the most <em>delicious</em> of all DSes, the red version could only come in second, and was followed by pink, white, turquoise, green and silver respectively. Sadly, Chart-Track doesn't dispense actual sales figures, but come on, Brits! Show some adventure in your choice of DS colors! Be crazy and <em>live life on the edge</em> like us!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/17/uk-still-betting-on-black/">UK still betting on black</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Jun 2008 17:00:00 EST. Like an enormous -- and enormously spoiled -- child whose tantrums can shake the entire planet, Japan gets all the cool stuff, all the time. The latest, albeit limited-edition, gifts bestowed upon it are a <a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/080603be.html">Metallic Blue PlayStation Portable</a> and a <a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/080603ce.html">Cinnabar Red PlayStation 2</a>. The portable system will be available in a standard Value Pack (complete with cloth, pouch, D Terminal AV cable and, don't laugh, a 32MB Memory Stick), as well as a 1 Seg Pack which includes a 1GB memory stick, carrying case and 1 Seg tuner. They'll be out on July 17th for &yen;23,800 ($231) and &yen;29,800 ($289), respectively.<br /><br />The Cinnabar Red PlayStation 2, slated to become available on July 3rd, will fetch a price of &yen;16,000 ($155). And in case you were wondering, <em>Cinnabar</em> is actually some kind of red-tinted rock. We were under the impression that you could toss back shooters and eat delicious cinnamon rolls in there. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/03/sony-intros-red-ps2-and-metallic-blue-psp-for-japan/">Engadget</a>]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/080603be.html">Source</a> -- Blue!<br /><a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/080603ce.html">Source</a> -- No, Rehhhhhhd!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/03/japan-getting-metallic-blue-psp-cinnabar-red-ps2/">Japan getting 'Metallic Blue' PSP, 'Cinnabar Red' PS2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Jun 2008 15:25:00 EST. Europeans, prepare to feast your retinas on some delicious eye candy. French site Jeuxvideo has got their hands on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/nintendo-confirms-injection-of-color-for-european-dses/">the new DS Lite models</a> hitting a store shelf near you soon and took care to snap up a few pictures for us to drool over. We know of at least <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/chris-greenhough">one individual</a> dying to get their hands on that red one, but what about the rest of you? Any of our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/europe">European</a> readers plan on picking up one of these new units? Not the green one, though. We know none of you want the green model. <br /><br />Hit up here to see <a href="http://ds.jeuxvideo.org/2008/05/26/photos-exclusives-des-trois-nouveaux-coloris/">some more pictures</a> of the handhelds enjoying life out in the wild.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/27/new-ds-lite-colors-in-the-wild/">Engadget</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/27/new-ds-lite-colors-found-in-the-wild/">New DS Lite colors found in the wild</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 May 2008 15:00:00 EST. Where's the color, Nintendo? We know all about Noble Pink, but some of us are <em>manly men</em>, and it would hurt our fearful reputation to be seen with such a gentle shade of DS! Across the Atlantic, our North American friends have enjoyed those lovely <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/05/two-toned-ds-going-to-japan-sans-bundle/">two-tone</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/29/buy-your-loved-one-a-blue-and-black-lite/">models</a>.<br /><br />But no longer must our portable consoles lack vividity! Following much <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/german-retailers-list-three-new-ds-colors/">rumor</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/rumor-new-ds-lite-colors-for-europe/">speculation</a>, Nintendo has started e-distributing the advert you see to the right, featuring a rainbow of DSes (kind of an ugly rainbow, but a rainbow nonetheless). We've suspected this was real for a while, but it's nice to have some confirmation -- and some cheery color back in our lives.<br /><br />In case you forgot, the Ice Blue, red, and green will all be here June 13th.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/21/nintendo-confirms-injection-of-color-for-european-dses/">Nintendo confirms injection of color for European DSes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 May 2008 12:30:00 EST. European games retailer GAME has some interesting listings up on their site, adding to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/30/rumor-three-new-colors-for-europe/">a rumor we reported on</a> back in March. As you can see above, three <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/17/ds-daily-the-pretty-colors/">new DS Lite colors</a> are being shown as soon releasing. According to GAME, Europeans can look forward to buying a green or red DS Lite, or the Japanese launch Ice Blue DS Lite come June 13th of this year.<br /><br />In checking out Nintendo of Europe's website, we can find no support to this claim, however since it was redesigned, it's been a haven less for breaking news and more for attracting new gamers. So, it looks like you'll just have to wait and see, Europeans! Consider us jealous.<br /><br />[Thanks, Frastoglegnia!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/rumor-new-ds-lite-colors-for-europe/">Rumor: New DS Lite colors for Europe?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 May 2008 12:30:00 EST. Okay, so this isn't a video so much as it is a series of still pictures. But we like to showcase visually interesting work in our Friday Video feature, and Jason Dunn's Rembrandt studies, "painted" in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/28/everyone-should-download-colors-and-also-learn-to-draw/"><em>Colors!</em></a> certainly qualify. We think that posting them in our normal video feature emphasizes how amazing they are to look at. It turns out that the DS screen is, apparently, quite well-suited to Impressionist-style brush work. <br /><br />So, uh, if you're into painting in that style, and you don't mind doing so on a 3.5-inch surface, the DS might be a good investment! It also plays games and stuff. Check out another brilliant work after the break, and if you're really upset about it not being <em>in motion</em>, just move your head around as you look at it.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/friday-video-just-go-along-with-it/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Friday Video: Just go along with it</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/16/friday-video-just-go-along-with-it/">Friday Video: Just go along with it</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 May 2008 20:00:00 EST. Back in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/30/rumor-three-new-colors-for-europe/">March</a>, Dutch website Nintendo Only claimed that Europe would be receiving a trio of new DS Lite colors on May 1st, including the (previously Japan-only) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/iceblue032908.jpg">Ice Blue</a> model, a mysterious green version, and the quite <em>gorgeous</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/03/something-great-in-the-mail-red-ds-lite/">Japan Post red DS Lite</a>.<br /><br />Alas, May 1st came and passed without incident, but now the exact same models mentioned by Nintendo Only have appeared in the database of a German retailer ("hellblau" is "light blue," while the others are obvious), complete with listings for red, green, and turquoise (?) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/12/cheap-stylus-gifts-that-arent-really-styli/">styli</a>. Oh, and there also appears to be <em>serial numbers</em> -- serial numbers make everything look more official.<br /><br />Suddenly, this same speculation is looking <em>far more credible</em>, and we're <em>way too excited</em> again. Skip past the break for the full listings.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/german-retailers-list-three-new-ds-colors/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>German retailers list three new DS colors</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/09/german-retailers-list-three-new-ds-colors/">German retailers list three new DS colors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 May 2008 20:00:00 EST. Go Nintendo is reporting a rumor that those of us here in the United States could be getting a new DS Lite model soon, in the form of the beauty you see above. Keen observers will notice that this is the same color that came in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/20/nintendo-confirms-new-bundles-for-the-holidays/">the <em>Nintendogs</em> bundle</a> that released alongside <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/23/friday-video-bundles-are-beautiful/">the <em>Phantom Hourglass</em></a> bundle, only without the paw print. <br /><br />This rumor comes from "a few GameStop insiders," so we're not sure we entirely believe this model is releasing. Until we get official confirmation, we aren't going to hold our breath.<br /><br /><strong>See also: </strong><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/19/the-ds-life-puppies-at-play/">The DS Life: Puppies at play</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/07/rumor-metallic-rose-ds-lite-inbound/">Rumor: Metallic Rose DS Lite inbound</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 May 2008 12:00:00 EST. It's true that they aren't "new" in the purest sense of the word, as the two-toned <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/02/get-your-ds-lite-fix-without-the-brain-training/">crimson</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/cobalt-and-black-ds-lite-confirmed/">cobalt</a> colors have been around in the U.S. for a while now, but they'd be new to <em>Australia</em>.<br /><br />Yet, if you're reading DS Fanboy, there's a pretty high chance you already own a DS, so new colors like this are nothing more than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/10/ds-daily-is-color-enough-to-justify-a-second-ds/">evil temptations</a>. With that said, do any of you in the Australian region want this rumor to be true, or for the safety of your wallets, are you hoping otherwise?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=39817">Go Nintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/08/rumor-australia-to-get-two-more-ds-colors/">Rumor: Australia to get two more DS colors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 Apr 2008 15:00:00 EST. The Dutch site Nintendo Only is reporting that three new DS Lite colors will be available in Europe starting May 1st. According to their "reliable sources," the colors include green, red, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/australia-getting-ice-blue-ds-lite/">Ice Blue</a>. Lots of people outside of Japan have been waiting for a chance to get their hands on the lovely and kind of soap-bar-esque Ice Blue DS Lite, so we hope for their sake that Nintendo is indeed planning to release it. <br /><br />The red, as well, could be based on a previously-released system: the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/03/something-great-in-the-mail-red-ds-lite/">Japan Post limited-edition DS Lite</a>. More availability of <em>that</em> one would be welcome as well.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=39132">GoNintendo</a>]<br /><br /> <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/30/rumor-three-new-colors-for-europe/">Rumor: Three new colors for Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 30 Mar 2008 12:00:00 EST. As tempting as it'll be to import Japan's latest PSP-2000 when it releases on April 24th (for a limited time), we simply won't stand for Bronze triumphing over brains. Debuting in a new <a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/080304be.html">Matte Bronze Value Pack</a> priced at &yen;23,800 ($228) , the third-place color will finish in matte "for the first time for PSP." The bundle will include an AC adaptor, battery, pouch, handstrap, cloth, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D-Terminal">D-Terminal</a> AV cable and a why-even-bother 32MB Memory Stick.<br /><br />Expected to launch on the same day: A &yen;4,800 ($46) <a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/080304ce.html">cradle and charger</a> for the PSP-2000. It's the ideal device for those <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/22/tgs-hands-on-psp-1seg-tv-tuner/">1Seg watchers</a> and mediaphiles who would prefer to interact via the included remote whenever the PSP's hooked up to a relatively distant television. The cradle will also be available in bundled form, with a &yen;6,500 ($62) package tossing in a D-Terminal AV cable.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/080304be.html">Read</a> -- Matte Bronze Value Pack<br /><a href="http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/080304ce.html">Read</a> -- Cradle<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/04/japanese-psp-brandishes-bronze-bundle-cradle/">Japanese PSP brandishes bronze bundle, cradle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Mar 2008 07:00:00 EST. While homebrewers already have <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/28/everyone-should-download-colors-and-also-learn-to-draw/">Colors!</a></em> to satisfy their DS-digital-painting needs, we really wanted to see what Bob Sabiston, the programmer behind <em>Waking Life</em> and <em>A Scanner Darkly's</em> Rotoshop software, had come up with.<br /><br />Dismissing concerns of its halted development, the painting and animation application has appeared at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gdc08">GDC</a>, this time under the name <em>Inchworm</em>. Along with its reintroduction comes a <a href="http://www.inchwormds.com/tutorial/">new site</a> packed with tutorial videos and user-uploaded samples/flipbooks. Artists can easily create and share their work online, all with a robust selection of drawing and editing tools.<br /><br />One unique feature we spotted in <em>Inchworm</em> is the ability to draw under a painting without having to create and move around new layers. Very useful for animation, we hear!<br /><br />We're not sure if <em>Inchworm</em> has found a publisher yet, but we hope someone helps this program hit the mainstream market. Bob Sabiston definitely sees potential in the software: "If people can make money selling math and brain teasers to kids, imagine how popular a program that lets you draw and make cartoons [would be]!"<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/gdc08-inchworm-mario-paint-meets-photoshop/">GDC08: Inchworm: Mario Paint meets Photoshop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Feb 2008 12:00:00 EST. Oh, you read that right. We're giving one lucky reader a brand-spanking-new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/cobalt-and-black-ds-lite-confirmed/">Cobalt DS Lite</a> (retails for $129.99). As one might imagine after seeing several <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fanswag">giveaways</a> on this blog before, entering to win this sweet handheld is a snap.<br /><br />First of all, you <u>must</u> be 18 years of age or older (kids, ask you big brother or sister or your parents to enter for you!) and currently reside in the United States. So, if you meet those qualifications, all you need to do is tell us why you deserve this Cobalt DS Lite. Have you been reading us for awhile? Do you make your own DS Fanboy t-shirts in your spare time (send us one?) and have one for every day in the week? Whatever the reason is, tell us!<br /><br />But, you can <u>only comment once per day</u>. So, don't go entering more than one comment each day or else you're disqualified. The contest begins as of right now and ends on Wednesday, February 20th at 11:59pm EST. Finally, give our <a href="http://www.weblogsinc.com/weblogs-giveaways-official-rules/">official rules</a> a read. Once done, get to entering.<br /><br />Good luck!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/15/ds-fanswag-win-a-cobalt-ds-lite/">DS Fanswag: Win a Cobalt DS Lite</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Feb 2008 09:45:00 EST. <br />Would you ever buy a second DS, solely because you like the color? It sounds silly, but time and again this blogger has come close to shelling out for one of those <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/rumor-enamel-navy-no-more/">Enamel Blue</a> Lites that appeared exclusively in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/japan">Japan</a>, only to back down at the last minute. It may sound like a fairly ridiculous reason to purchase a second version of any gaming system, but then gamers aren't always rational people, and DSes are desirable and <em>just about</em> cheap enough to justify impulse purchases.<br /><br />Of course, some of you might well be purchasing a second DS in the very near future, as the cobalt blue DS Lite hits U.S. stores <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/rumor-enamel-navy-no-more/">today</a>. If you are, tell us about it!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/10/ds-daily-is-color-enough-to-justify-a-second-ds/">DS Daily: Is color enough to justify a second DS?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 10 Feb 2008 10:30:00 EST. Well, it appears as if that trend is continuing with the PlayStation 3 as Sony Japan announced that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/satin-silver-ps3-hitting-japan-on-march-6th/">40GB Satin Silver PS3</a> will hit Japan early next month.<br /><br />But do you think Sony Computer Entertainment America has plans to do the same? Not so much according to an SCEA representative who <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/849/849749p1.html?RSSwhen2008-02-05_133000&amp;RSSid=849749">told IGN</a>, "there are no plans for a silver PS3 in North America at this time."<br /><br />While the news is disappointing for those few gamers who have been holding off for a different colored PS3, we rest assured knowing that Sony will surely bring these over at some point. That's right folks, it's been confirmed (by Nintendo, not just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/new-blue-ds-lite-confirmed/">a Circuit City page</a>) that we're getting a new DS Lite. Much like the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/02/get-your-ds-lite-fix-without-the-brain-training/">senior edition</a>" DS Lite that initially came bundled with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/29/ds-fanboy-review-brain-age-2/"><em>Brain Age 2</em></a>, this unit has a black base with the clamshell taking on the whole of the cobalt included in the package. Still though, this <em>is</em> one slick-looking unit for those of you who found the red to not be your thing.<br /><br />For another snapshot of the box for the new unit, then head past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/cobalt-and-black-ds-lite-confirmed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cobalt &amp; Black DS Lite confirmed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/cobalt-and-black-ds-lite-confirmed/">Cobalt &amp; Black DS Lite confirmed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Feb 2008 09:45:00 EST. It's one thing for paid developers to make games, what with their fancy-schmancy development kits and other perks. Homebrewers, on the other hand, don't get as many helpful tools, or recognition, or rewards for their labor.
