But there must be a few yuksters around Sony's studio in Santa Monica, because the studio <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&amp;v=MqXHDdwI2ug">created this faux trailer</a> for April Fool's Day, threatening to invade the serene landscape of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/journey"><em>Journey</em></a> with some raucous Rocket Death Match DLC.<br /> <br /> Then again, maybe it makes sense. It's been a while since we've seen the two in anything new - and today they've re-emerged in a new web series.<br /><br />The premise behind their new show is pretty much the same as the premise behind their old show, except the two have ditched the half-hour format this time around. In this episode, Sifl and Olly check out some Kinetic games for the Zeus 720 - obviously this is a spoof on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/kinect/">Kinect</a> for Xbox 360 - and engage in some, well, <em>mature</em> activity. This one may not be strictly work-safe. You've been warned!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/10/sifl-and-olly-come-back-from-the-laundry-pile-to-review-fake-games/">Sifl &amp; Olly come back from the laundry pile to review fake games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Sep 2012 23:00:00 EST. We're stopping right there, before even coming up with a horrible ending to that joke, before this fun news gets depressing. LA's Laugh Factory comedy club will release its own streaming video app on PS3 September 1, allowing you to watch both recorded and live performances from stand-ups.<br /><br />Through November, all the content will be free. Starting in December, if you want to enjoy the streaming comedy, it'll cost $3 a month. Feel free to institute your own two-drink minimum, and perhaps hire a local comic to warm up the room (your living room) before you start the show. You know, to make sure you get the most from your subscription.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/18/laugh-factory-app-puts-comedy-on-ps3-this-september/">Laugh Factory app puts comedy on PS3 this September</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 18 Jul 2012 10:10:00 EST. Feel like reliving the bizarre twists and turns of <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/battlestar-galactica"><em>Battlestar Galactica</em></a> without, you know, <em>actually having to watch it again</em>? <a href="http://www.collegehumor.com/video/6683770/battlestar-galactica-rpg">College Humor</a> has put together a handy (and fake) retro RPG that handily condenses the series' most memorable plot points (and holes). Apparently not satisfied with his already stellar lineup of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/13/gamings-worst-voice-acting-set-to-incredible-face-acting/">hilarious face acting</a> set to hilariously <em>bad</em> video game voice acting, Dean has returned with "Dean's Face Acting: Episode 2." Dean is a man after our own heart. This video, in which he mimes <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulbotKa5LnM">the 50 worst video game voice acting lines</a> with brilliant facial expressions, reveals a natural talent for acting. One day, this guy will be a star -- maybe just on YouTube and gaming blogs, but a star nonetheless! If you were sent into inescapable spirals of discomfort while watching one of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega64">Mega64's videos</a> released this year, the video after the jump may very well kill you. It's a behind-the-scenes look at their take on <em>Limbo</em>, <em>Portal 2</em>, <em>Shenmue</em> -- and, of course, the horrified crowds they left in their wake.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/23/mega64-goes-behind-the-scenes-deeper-into-the-awkwardness/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mega64 goes behind the scenes, deeper into the awkwardness</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/23/mega64-goes-behind-the-scenes-deeper-into-the-awkwardness/">Mega64 goes behind the scenes, deeper into the awkwardness</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 23 Apr 2011 19:00:00 EST. Who knew that behind the scenes of the planet's favorite avian-launching casual game hides a twisted narrative of political intrigue and wartime subterfuge? It took the keen minds of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2matH4B9bTo">Rooster Teeth</a> to discover this plot and commit it to video, which they've done in the trailer posted below.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/26/rooster-teeth-lets-slip-the-hogs-of-war-with-angry-birds-the-mo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Rooster Teeth lets slip the hogs of war with Angry Birds: The Movie</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/26/rooster-teeth-lets-slip-the-hogs-of-war-with-angry-birds-the-mo/">Rooster Teeth lets slip the hogs of war with Angry Birds: The Movie</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 26 Mar 2011 13:00:00 EST. Yes, Mega64's (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/23/mega64-heavy-rain-makes-you-cry-a-lot/">second</a>) spoof of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/heavy-rain"><em>Heavy Rain</em></a> features one of the guys wandering through a mall on a very vocal hunt for Jason -- but that's not all. It also contains some of the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dP30WYgYiUI">most cringe-worthy moments</a> of social discomfort that the troupe has ever, ever managed to elicit.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/16/mega-64-spoofs-heavy-rain-makes-all-of-us-uncomforjaaaasooon/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mega 64 spoofs Heavy Rain, makes all of us uncomforJAAAASOOON</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/16/mega-64-spoofs-heavy-rain-makes-all-of-us-uncomforjaaaasooon/">Mega 64 spoofs Heavy Rain, makes all of us uncomforJAAAASOOON</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Mar 2011 13:45:00 EST. Don't worry, guys -- the video after the jump is from the jokesters at <a href="http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1949248">CollegeHumor</a>, so we're pretty sure that it's a fake. Since it's portraying the very terrifying, very possible future of self-aware consumer entertainment devices, we pray to all powers holy that it's a fake.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/15/kinect-hack-the-sensor-goes-self-aware/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Kinect Hack: The sensor goes self-aware</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/15/kinect-hack-the-sensor-goes-self-aware/">Kinect Hack: The sensor goes self-aware</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Mar 2011 18:40:00 EST. Sheesh. First the Xperia Play is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/26/sony-ericsson-xperia-play-playstation-phone-manhandled-again/">obtained by the press</a> even before its official announcement, and now the first units to reach the North American public, given away to developers <a href="http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/developerworld/2011/03/04/sony-ericsson-gdc-re-play-march-3/">at a GDC panel and raffles</a> last week, are ... wait for it ... being <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-Ericsson-Xperia-Play-Phone-Unlocked-Not-presale-/220749449991?pt=Video_Games&amp;hash=item3365b14b07#ht_1903wt_1373">sold on eBay</a>.<br />
<br />
That's right -- even weeks before the actual launch, you can't give these things away for free. eBay seller "mejones73-1" doesn't hide the fact that he's one of the developers who won a free phone (and <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=140521578895#ht_685wt_1373">neither does this guy</a>), though the Sony writeup says that a winner named "Mike Jones" just happens to work across the street from their office in Redwood City, CA. Jones might want to be careful in the parking lot this week -- even if he plans to buy another phone with the $730 and rising that his auction is earning, Sony can't be too happy about this one.<br />
<br />

We realize The Onion, purveyors of funnies, is joking with this video segment past the break that details a new head-and-neck peripheral for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/madden-nfl-12"><em>Madden NFL 12</em></a>, but we think there's actually potential here. Think about the people who play <em>Madden</em>: people who like football; people who play professional sports; and people who wish they still played professional sports.<br />

It didn't take long for the video game community to speak out about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/24/ubisofts-we-dare-to-ruin-parties-for-ps3-wii-owners/">the plainly ridiculous <em>We Dare </em>trailer released today</a>, and the venom it's inspired has gotten creative. <a href="http://chicknstu.wordpress.com/2011/02/24/we-dare-but-are-they-really-that-daring/">Developers Stew Hogarth and @hypnic__jerk</a> have assembled <a href="http://www.everybodydancenow.net/deware/WeDareRemake.swf">this Flash demake</a> of the title, and while it doesn't actually require a Wii to play, it offers pretty much the same quantity and quality of amusement we expect from the game.<br />
<br />
And then there's the trailers after the break, both recut versions of Ubisoft's video with some more ... <em>inspired</em> video game trailer soundtrack choices. These are a must if you like laughing, go check them out. We dar ... aww, forget it.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/24/we-dare-trailer-mocked-with-flash-demake-soundtrack-recuts/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>We Dare trailer mocked with Flash demake, soundtrack recuts</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/24/we-dare-trailer-mocked-with-flash-demake-soundtrack-recuts/">We Dare trailer mocked with Flash demake, soundtrack recuts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Feb 2011 21:30:00 EST. Cheeky programmer/<a href="http://wondertonic.tumblr.com/">comedic mastermind</a> Mike Lacher recently added a twist to an old classic by ... um, removing almost <em>all</em> of it. The game in question is <em>Wolfenstein 3D</em>, from which Lacher has stripped the height and depth, leaving only the meager remnants of a 1 pixel-tall line of width. The surprising part of this little project? It's still totally playable.<br />
<br />
Check out Lacher's minimalistic mod (appropriately titled <em>Wolfenstein 1D</em>) over on <a href="http://wonder-tonic.com/wolf1d/">his website</a>. We're sure there's probably a message about the lack of real depth in the storytelling of most first person shooters, though it was totally lost on us, because we were busy having such a good time shooting things.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/26/wolfenstein-3d-loses-two-dimensions-becomes-wolfenstein-1d/">Wolfenstein 3D loses two dimensions, becomes Wolfenstein 1D</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Jan 2011 22:30:00 EST. Birds have always looked down on pigs due to their inability to fly, while pigs themselves have always been envious of their flight-enabled counterparts -- it's led to much conflict between the species, naturally. But we're happy to report that today the two finally sat down for peace talks.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/23/angry-birds-try-for-a-more-diplomatic-resolution-to-their-pig-pr/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Angry Birds try for a more diplomatic resolution to their pig problem</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/23/angry-birds-try-for-a-more-diplomatic-resolution-to-their-pig-pr/">Angry Birds try for a more diplomatic resolution to their pig problem</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Nov 2010 02:00:00 EST. Television comedic mastermind/pundit extraordinaire Stephen Colbert isn't one to sit on the sidelines while a hot new business trend passes him by. Inspired by Nintendo's recent (and timely!) decision to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/10/nintendo-requests-its-on-like-donkey-kong-trademark/">trademark the phrase</a>,"It's on like Donkey Kong," Colbert <a href="http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/365395/november-11-2010/stephen-trademarks-dated-catchphrases">explored the profitable possibilities</a> afforded by other catchphrases with product ties, such as "Don't Front like Duck Hunt," which we ... may actually start using in our day-to-day lives.<br />
<br />
Check out the clip from <em>The Colbert Report</em> after the jump, and feel free to drop your own cross-promotional quips in the comments -- not like you guys weren't going to do that, anyways.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/15/stephen-colbert-follows-nintendos-example-trademarks-old-catch/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Stephen Colbert follows Nintendo's example, trademarks old catchphrases</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/15/stephen-colbert-follows-nintendos-example-trademarks-old-catch/">Stephen Colbert follows Nintendo's example, trademarks old catchphrases</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Nov 2010 19:00:00 EST. How had we never put this together before? MTV's sorrowfully popular reality show <em>Jersey Shore</em> shares common elements with <em>every RPG ever</em>: Dudes with outrageously spiky hair, puzzlingly proportioned women, <em>so</em> much fighting, near-incomprehensible dialogue ... the list of similarities goes on and on.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/06/collegehumor-figures-it-out-creates-the-jersey-shore-rpg/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CollegeHumor figures it out, creates the Jersey Shore RPG</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/06/collegehumor-figures-it-out-creates-the-jersey-shore-rpg/">CollegeHumor figures it out, creates the Jersey Shore RPG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Oct 2010 16:30:00 EST. Who says developer diaries have to give behind-the-scenes looks at specific games? Hothead's <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMj7BFa3kYg">latest dev diary</a> simply focuses on the rarely achieved art of making games funny. Apparently, it's a tricky blend of timing, creativity and John Ritter-fronted late '70s sitcoms.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/28/hothead-games-dev-diary-is-good-for-a-laugh/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hothead Games dev diary is good for a laugh</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/28/hothead-games-dev-diary-is-good-for-a-laugh/">Hothead Games dev diary is good for a laugh</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Jul 2010 01:00:00 EST. For $19, you'll get six new episodes of the show (the first in nearly four years), behind-the-scenes docs on each episode and a bevy of other special features.<br />
<br />
Among those special features is not, as far as we know, the episode of the Joystiq Podcast guest hosted by Mega64's Rocco Botte, an embarrassing oversight for both parties. But feel free to put the DVD in your computer, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/joystiq-podcast-035-mega-edition/">download the episode</a> and pretend it is so.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/29/mega64-version-3-dvd-now-available/">Mega64: Version 3 DVD now available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 29 May 2010 01:30:00 EST. We really think <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tommy-tallarico">Tommy Tallarico</a> missed his calling in life by becoming a composer. If <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTP0RawPtoM">the first <em>Gamer Warz</em></a> and this followup are any indication, the man was meant for comedy. <em>Gamer Warz 2</em> (watch it after the break) is a collaboration between Tallarico and lulz-factory <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega64">Mega64</a> that really gets to the heart of the elitism and console preferences of the gaming community at large in a surprisingly civil and educated way.<br />
<br />
Don't get it twisted: we certainly love Tallarico's music, but this may be the funniest video we've seen in a long time.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/03/mega64-and-tommy-tallarico-present-gamer-warz-2/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mega64 and Tommy Tallarico present: Gamer Warz 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/03/mega64-and-tommy-tallarico-present-gamer-warz-2/">Mega64 and Tommy Tallarico present: Gamer Warz 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 May 2010 23:00:00 EST. Video games always show you the brave hero's struggle to save the princess from the forces of evil, but until <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEVU-YLpM8A"><em>Dan the Man</em></a>, we never got to see everything that happened after. Now, thanks to studioJOHO's short (which we've put right after the break), we see that maybe the princess being in another castle is the best news you'll <em>ever receive</em>.<br />
<br />
Dan, we'd recommend you head to the nearest town, buy some potions to erase the pain and take up with innkeeper's daughter. They always seem like real sweethearts.<br />

We're not quite sure what we like best about <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtzzRVAyIS8">the new video</a> from comedy goldmine <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega-64">Mega64</a> after the break: the proposed lifelike tech behind the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nintendo-3ds">Nintendo 3DS</a> (we've got our fingers crossed!) or that Korn is currently recording a new song for <em>Haze 2</em>. It's probably the <em>Haze 2</em> thing. <br />
<br />
Regardless, it's a great spoof on an upcoming gaming handheld we know virtually nothing about, which kinda makes the handheld the easiest thing to make fun of right now. Besides <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/haze"><em>Haze</em></a>, of course.<br />

Hey, did you ever want to see what it would be like for your fat, obnoxious uncle to take a stab at "the <em>Call of Duties</em>?" Well, you're going to have to undertake that quest on your own. But we've got the next best thing: <em>Family Guy</em>'s Peter Griffin trying to play <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a>. It's like every single stereotype about those 'rents that <em>just don't get it</em> rolled into one minute-long segment, which you can check out past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/13/family-guy-gets-pwnd-in-modern-warfare-2/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Family Guy gets pwnd in Modern Warfare 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/13/family-guy-gets-pwnd-in-modern-warfare-2/">Family Guy gets pwnd in Modern Warfare 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Apr 2010 23:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega64">Mega64</a>'s latest video (past the break) highlights some very real concerns about motion-based gaming, albeit in a very ham-fisted way. Gamers looking to veg out in front of the TV and blow some junk up really aren't the target demographic for motion-controlled games, but will likely get pressured into playing by their friends and family -- "motion enablers," if you will. Sure, crushing a calorie or two is good for the old body, but sweating and being out of breath <em>sucks</em>.<br />
<br />
Out-of-shape, poor displays of humanity aside, not everyone is so put off by the idea of, like, moving around and junk. Which camp do you fall in with? Pumped for the next wave of motion gaming or are you already taking a nap on the couch?<br />

Yes, last year's surprise smash hit novel, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pride_and_Prejudice_and_Zombies"><em>Pride and Prejudice and Zombies</em></a>, is getting the video game adaptation treatment. Prolific App developer Freeverse, creators of <em>Top Gun</em>, <em>Flick Bowling</em>, and like, a thousand other games, is turning the mash-up book <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3178533">into an iPhone title</a>. The game, which will be a 2.5D action title featuring 19th century aristocrats and ... zombies, is due out in the next few weeks. (We're assuming <em>Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters</em> won't be far behind.)<br />
<br />
Few details about the game have been revealed, but fighting hordes of zombies with makeshift weapons will almost certainly be part of the equation. As will courtship. And manners.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/30/pride-and-prejudice-and-zombies-and-an-iphone-game/">Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and an iPhone game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Mar 2010 13:00:00 EST. There aren't many who stand tall and, against all odds, crusade for truth and righteousness in video gaming. That job is best left in the capable hands of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4XLiXWkUn4">Indie Man</a>, the latest concoction of super-squad <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega64">Mega64</a>. In an attempt to help struggling indie developers battle against the bigger, well-financed studios, he intervenes when it seems all hope is lost and sabotages the big studios in the name of indie justice. It's darkest just before dawn, and all of that.<br />
<br />
And, in the spirit of his unending generosity, the Joystiq staff has compiled its own list of scenarios where Indie Man's unique skillset could help benefit the smaller fish in the industry pond. Check 'em out right after the video past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/23/mega64-indie-man-is-a-source-of-hope-for-indie-devs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mega64: Indie Man is a source of hope for indie devs</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/23/mega64-indie-man-is-a-source-of-hope-for-indie-devs/">Mega64: Indie Man is a source of hope for indie devs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Mar 2010 16:29:00 EST. Mega64 gets back to its roots in <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyJ48-BYb7s">the troupe's latest video</a>, enlisting the aid of John and Jane Q. Public to create another minute and a half of comedy based on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-beatles-rock-band"><em>The Beatles: Rock Band</em></a>. You're probably asking yourself how the trio can recreate the full British pop quartet. To answer that, we offer this: through the aid of a surprise guest, of course! <br />
<br />
Head past the break to see who. We're pretty sure you'll never guess who it is.<br />

You know, we always thought GLaDOS ran the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/portal"><em>Portal</em></a> simulation just so she could discover <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/weighted-companion-cube">the true value of friendship</a>, but it may really have been in the name of public service. In the video after the break -- created by Freddie Wong, who you probably recognize from his ridiculous (and hilarious) <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua3hZXfNZOE"><em>Guitar Hero </em>video</a> -- we get a glimpse at the likely ramifications of improper <em>Portal</em> gun training and how a few apathetic "friends" can ruin one of the most exciting experiences ever. And here, all this time, we thought GLaDOS was the bad guy!<br />
<br />
Note: For those of you who spot that weird frame at the end of the video -- yep, with all that gibberish -- don't bother to decipher it. It's apparently just another gag from Freddie and "friends." Yuk-yuk-yuk.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/09/psa-portal-guns-are-for-trained-professionals-only/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PSA: Portal guns are for trained professionals only</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/09/psa-portal-guns-are-for-trained-professionals-only/">PSA: Portal guns are for trained professionals only</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Mar 2010 23:00:00 EST. If you were to ask us what to expect from most fast food joints, we'd probably tell you to look inside your garbage can and basically expect that -- but, y'know, <em>inside of your stomach</em>. We don't know; it's all the same pre-processed, assembly line garbage to us and we manage to successfully avoid it for the most part. But the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega64">Mega64</a> dudes instead find themselves in an almost perpetual, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_yDWQsrajA"><em>Groundhog Day</em></a>-like loop when it comes to one particular establishment: Sonic. <br />
<br />
Even though each trip usually makes the guys wish they never went in the first place, the thought of returning oddly enough fills them with hope that things will be different each and every time, only to suffer the grim realization again. It's such a departure for Mega64, but we can't help but feel like there's some kind of correlation to a current gaming news item in here -- so we thought we'd post this to see what you all think they're talking about. While we think on it, head past the break and check out the video.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/01/mega64-explains-the-appeal-and-letdown-of-sonic-the-restaura/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mega64 explains the appeal and letdown of Sonic ... the restaurant</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/01/mega64-explains-the-appeal-and-letdown-of-sonic-the-restaura/">Mega64 explains the appeal and letdown of Sonic ... the restaurant</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Mar 2010 18:00:00 EST. Whether it's through its potent pixel combinations or the fact that the game regularly gives you purple nurples (not really ... we hope), <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/heavy-rain"><em>Heavy Rain</em></a> is bound to make you cry. Don't believe us? Well, would you believe the talented and scholarly chaps at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega64">Mega64</a>? Yeah, we thought so!<br />
<br />
The troupe's <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/811232/quantic-dream-project/videos/mega64_prt_heavyrain_22310.html">latest contribution</a> posits that <em>Heavy Rain</em> is so sad, you won't even crack a smile if you go to Disneyland after playing it. Certainly, one must keep in mind that this is simply one man's experience, but it doesn't necessarily rule out <em>Heavy Rain</em> as a tear-inducing descent into a bottomless well of sadness. Figure out the case of The Crying Amusement Park Attendee for yourself by watching the video past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/23/mega64-heavy-rain-makes-you-cry-a-lot/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mega64: Heavy Rain makes you cry (a lot)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/23/mega64-heavy-rain-makes-you-cry-a-lot/">Mega64: Heavy Rain makes you cry (a lot)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Feb 2010 23:30:00 EST. Once again, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega-64">Mega64</a> has allowed us to look through <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hm5KvIB12-s">a window into an alternate universe</a>, where the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gdc">Game Developer's Conference</a> isn't just a series of panels, roundtables and presentations about recent trends in video game development. Rather, in their world, it's a series of panels, roundtables and presentations about recent trends in video game development, held in the middle of a <em>non-stop</em> <em>all-night Jersey Shore-esque club party</em>.<br />

Here it is, folks: The moment you've all been waiting for. Team Joystiq has been scouring the list of games that came out in 2009, attempting to pick the best of the best, then present them to our readership in an enumerated fashion. Unfortunately, we got bored with that, and <a href="http://www.heavy.com/post/2009-the-game-2545">instead started playing <em>2009: The Game</em></a>, which is, in fact, a game of the year 2009. We apologize for the misleading headline.<br />
<br />
It's more or less an "avoid-these-things-lest-you-die" game flash game which takes quick, topical jabs at the year's low points. However, it's a great reminder of some of the <em>ridiculous </em>shenanigans we had to put up with this year. Like, remember <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/09/psa-swine-flu-cases-confirmed-at-pax/">Swine Flu</a>? <em>Hoo boy</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/31/joystiq-highlights-a-game-of-the-year-2009/">Joystiq highlights a game of the year 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 31 Dec 2009 12:30:00 EST. Much like the comical co-host of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/conan-o-brien"><em>The Tonight Show with Conan O' Brien</em></a>, we were infuriated by Hugh Jackman's victory in the "Best Male Voice Actor" category during last week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/13/spike-vga-2009-wrap-up-the-awards-the-trailers-the-premieres/">Video Game Awards ceremony</a>. That Vector Monkey was destined to land in the hands of Andy Richter, who, you may or may not know, provided the voice of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2"><em>Assassin's Creed 2</em>'s</a> titular killer, Ezio Auditore de Firenze a Lamborghini et Manicotti Formaggio.<br />
<br />
You can view Richter's outburst, as well as a bit of his work in the game, in <a href="http://www.tonightshowwithconanobrien.com/video/clips/andys-videogame-voiceover-121509/1185749/">the <em>Tonight Show</em> clip posted</a> on the show's official site.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/16/andy-richter-upset-at-his-assassins-creed-2-voiceover-vga-snub/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Andy Richter upset at his Assassin's Creed 2 voiceover VGA snub</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/16/andy-richter-upset-at-his-assassins-creed-2-voiceover-vga-snub/">Andy Richter upset at his Assassin's Creed 2 voiceover VGA snub</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Dec 2009 13:15:00 EST. There's a good reason why we never went into late-night comedy: We <em>really</em> didn't want to compete against lanky comic genius Conan O' Brien. We thought writing about (and, more often than not, making fun of) video games would be a career path where we'd never have to compete with the gargantuan Irish host -- unfortunately, in a recent episode of Late Night, <a href="http://www.tonightshowwithconanobrien.com/video/clips/video-game-letdown-120409/1182100/">Conan managed to encroach on our territory</a>, making a joke at the expense of the recently released (and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/02/metareview-james-camerons-avatar/">tepidly received</a>) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/avatar"><em>Avatar: The Game</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Check out the video of Conan's gag after the jump while we consider another career choice -- one that will <em>definitely</em> be devoid of Conan competition. (We're thinking about horse whispering. Seems pretty safe, right?)<br />

You know, one day we hope to be as rich as those cats at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega-64">Mega 64</a>. The troupe's latest video -- an alarming look at one of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psp-go">PSP Go</a>'s lesser-known features (courtesy of <a href="http://video.ign.com/dor/articles/855949/mega64/videos/mega64_trl_ignpspgorecut_101209.html">IGN</a>) <em> --</em> shows us just how stacked with loot these guys really are nowadays. We're not going to give the ending away, but let's just say the whole thing is a fine way to burn a neat stack of Benjamins. In the end, it's alright -- we bet they got paid a lot more than $300 for their work.<br /><br />Head past the break to check out the video. If you need us, we'll be eating some ramen and freezing to death in our apartment we can't afford to heat.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/14/video-mega-64s-300-psp-go-joke/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Mega 64's $300 PSP Go joke</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/14/video-mega-64s-300-psp-go-joke/">Video: Mega 64's $300 PSP Go joke</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Oct 2009 00:00:00 EST. Being a blog on the internet, we're big believers in the power of commenters. Whether it's the beloved "First!" or the always refreshing "Slow news day, huh?," each and every person who enters a string of text into a comments field and hits submit has undoubtedly changed the course of history ... <em>forever</em>. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mega64">Mega64</a>, the comedic troupe with a taste for video games, has finally realized this and, in combination with the item-spawning gameplay of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/scribblenauts"><em>Scribblenauts</em></a>, has created something that will <a href="http://mega64.com/2009/09/25/mega64-masters-scribblenauts-technology/">change the internet forever</a>. We'd go into more detail, but then we'd be taking away from the surprise. So, head past the break and see what's in store for the future of the intertron.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/25/mega64-uses-scribblenauts-technology-to-change-the-internet-fore/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mega64 uses Scribblenauts technology to change the internet forever</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/25/mega64-uses-scribblenauts-technology-to-change-the-internet-fore/">Mega64 uses Scribblenauts technology to change the internet forever</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Sep 2009 18:47:00 EST. You might have already seen this at the MTV Movie Awards, but if you're the sort of person that's sworn off the MTV Movie Awards entirely (perfectly understandable) then we'd like to present <em>Doubt: The Video Game</em> as imagined by The Lonely Island. Check out the hot, 16-bit action after the break.<br /><br />Interesting side note: This video was made in conjunction with <a href="http://www.fatalfarm.com/main.html">Fatal Farm</a>, the crew responsible for a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/05/ultra-violent-timeshift-commercial/">bitching <em>TimeShift </em>ad</a> and one of the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmpAx8Z5z40">funniest things on the whole internet</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/26/the-lonely-island-plays-doubt-the-video-game/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Lonely Island plays 'Doubt: The Video Game'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/26/the-lonely-island-plays-doubt-the-video-game/">The Lonely Island plays 'Doubt: The Video Game'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Jun 2009 01:00:00 EST.
