Dark Horse Comics has revealed <em>Valve Presents: The Sacrifice and Other Steam-Powered Stories</em>. According to the listing on <a href="http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&amp;id=33181">Comic Book Resources</a>, the 304-page book contains <em>Left 4 Dead</em>'s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/22/parts-1-and-2-of-left-4-dead-the-sacrifice-comic-now-online/"><em>The Sacrifice</em> comic</a>, along with stories from the worlds of <em>Team Fortress 2</em> and <em>Portal</em>.<br />
<br />
The comic book compilation will launch on November 16 for $29.99. Although there are no further details regarding the <em>Portal</em> and <em>TF2</em> comics, we'd guess they are Valve's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/08/first-issue-of-the-portal-2-comic-is-now-online/">online</a> comics in physical form.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/12/dark-horse-compiles-valve-comics/">Dark Horse compiles Valve comics</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Jul 2011 00:10:00 EST. Here's the latest developer diary for Red 5 Studios' <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/firefall"><em>Firefall</em></a>, which outlines the general backstory for the upcoming free-to-play co-op multiplayer shooter. Red 5's CEO Mark Kern, who served as team lead on a little indie title you may have heard of called <em>World of Warcraft</em>, walks us through the tale of Crystite and a dying future Earth, beset by an alien race called the Chosen.<br />
<br />
He also introduces writer Orson Scott Card, who talks about how he put the story together for what's "essentially ... a post-double apocalyptic world." Card's also working on a manga with his daughter Emily Card, to be published free <a href="http://www.firefallthegame.com/">on Red 5's website</a> in conjunction with Udon Comics.<br />
The manga is supposed to be available sometime before the game is due out later this year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/02/firefall-dev-diary-features-orson-scott-card-reveals-planned-fr/">Firefall dev diary features Orson Scott Card, reveals planned free manga comic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 02 Jul 2011 00:00:00 EST. If you're interested in delving into the lore behind <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dungeon-siege-3"><em>Dungeon Siege 3</em></a> before the RPG drops June 21, you might want to flip through the virtual pages of Dark Horse's comic book tie-in. Just as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/07/portal-2-comic-available-online-tomorrow/">you were warned</a>, "tomorrow" has come, heralding the arrival of <em>Portal 2: Lab Rat</em>. The first issue has been posted over on <a href="http://comics.ign.com/articles/116/1160605p1.html">IGN</a>, spanning 14 total pages.<br />
<br />
The comic is more than a prequel than anything else. Actually, we don't want to give away too much, but we will leave you with this little nugget: Companion Cube kills Dumbledore. We know, we know -- who woulda thunk a cube could wield a wand, let alone gain admission into Hogwarts?!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/08/first-issue-of-the-portal-2-comic-is-now-online/">First issue of the Portal 2 comic is now online</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Apr 2011 22:00:00 EST. Before Valve's new game comes out later this month, we thought we might interest you in a supplemental comic, <em>Portal 2: Lab Rat</em>. What, you'd prefer some crummy video game instead? Think about it. Would you rather (1) dirty your hands hands <em>interacting</em> to force the fun out of a disc or (2) just look at a screen and have the fun happen to you? When the first part debuts on <a href="http://comics.ign.com/articles/116/1160119p1.html">IGN Comics</a> tomorrow, the choice will be clear.<br />
<br />
Besides, the comic has people like <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powers_(comics)">Powers</a></em> co-author Michael Avon Oeming, and Erik Wolpaw and Chet Faliszek working on it. Nobody at Valve could possibly compete with -- oh, really? All of them work there?<br />
<br />
... Well, the comic's also free.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/07/portal-2-comic-available-online-tomorrow/">Portal 2 comic available online tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Apr 2011 12:00:00 EST. The third issue of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-the-fall">Assassin's Creed: The Fall</a></em> concludes the story arc and is now available in stores and on Ubisoft's <a href="http://ubiworkshop.myshopify.com/products/assassins-creed-the-fall-issue-3">website</a> for $5. What will become of Daniel Cross? And of the results of the Tunguska event? We're not telling! <div style="text-align: left;">Developer Sucker Punch and DC Comics are teaming up for an <em>inFamous</em> comic book that will bridge protagonist Cole McGrath's story from the first game to the sequel. The book will be written by William Harms, illustrated by Eric Nguyen, and will span six issues. <br />
<br />
Following Cole's revelation at the end of the first game, the comic will explore his <em>move</em> from "Empire City" (a.k.a. NYC) to "New Marais" (you know: New Orleans) to battle <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/06/infamous-2-ravager-gameplay-footage/">creepy, mutant things</a> and prepare for ... well, you should go ahead and finish the first game before reading the comics. It's really good, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/01/joystiqs-top-10-of-2009-infamous/">we promise</a>.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/20/infamous-comic-series-to-explore-time-between-games/">inFamous comic series to bridge gap between games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Dec 2010 23:30:00 EST. Outside of the comic's early 20th century Russia setting and the main character's name, little information has been released on the forthcoming <em>Assassin's Creed</em> comic, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-the-fall">Assassin's Creed: The Fall</a>;</em> however, a developer diary released today details the comic's narrative, setting, main character, and how he fits into the franchise's overall timeline. Nikolai Orelov will be leaping from Russian rooftops and landing his (likely freezing cold) twin blades into the necks of important men like Tsar Alexander III.<br />
<br />
Perhaps most interesting about the dev diary is the comic team's tease at the end that their story could find its way into a future <em>Assassin's Creed</em> title. Though we stand by our desire for a post-Civil War, Reconstruction Era <em>Assassin's Creed</em> game, one set in the Russian revolution doesn't sound too shabby either.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/23/assassins-creed-the-fall-comic-book-detailed-in-dev-diary/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Assassin's Creed: The Fall comic book detailed in dev diary</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/23/assassins-creed-the-fall-comic-book-detailed-in-dev-diary/">Assassin's Creed: The Fall comic book detailed in dev diary</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 23 Oct 2010 00:00:00 EST. Honestly, we would never have thought that [redacted] would be the character to bite the dust in "The Passing," but there it is. Sure, we could've pictured [redacted] dying, or [redacted] -- heck, even [redacted] -- but [redacted]? Life's a trip, qu&eacute; no?<br />

Thing is, we never figured out how that particular survivor perished -- not until now. A 12-page preview of the <em>Fallout: New Vegas - All Roads</em> comic is now available on <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id388309548?mt=8.">iTunes</a>, but if you end up liking what you read don't expect to buy the full thing off of Apple's virtual store shelf. The graphic novel is a prologue to events in the game and is "exclusive" to the <em>Fallout: New Vegas</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/11/bethesda-announces-fallout-new-vegas-collectors-edition-for-hi/">Collector's Edition</a>.<br />
<br />
The un-interactive text adventure is published by Dark Horse Comics and written by <em>New Vegas</em>' senior designer, Chris Avellone. The comic also apparently gives "clues to in-game missions for the sharp-eyed reader." Now we totally want <em>Where's Waldo: Fallout Edition</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/02/fallout-new-vegas-comic-previewed-on-itunes/">Fallout: New Vegas comic previewed on iTunes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Sep 2010 00:00:00 EST. This will be the first year since the start of the <em>Ratchet &amp; Clank Future</em> series that the franchise will be quiet on the PS3. Fans of Insomniac's space-venturing duo need not fret too much, though. DC Comics' WildStorm imprint is releasing a brand new <em>Ratchet &amp; Clank</em> comic series this September, written by Insomniac's TJ Fixman.<br />
<br />
The new series will follow the events of the last game, <em>A Crack in Time</em>, and should satiate fans' appetites for the series' continuation. The comic will be available in retail stores and on the PSP Digital Comics service.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/24/ratchet-and-clank-comics-coming-september-8/">Ratchet &amp; Clank comics coming September 8</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 24 Jul 2010 02:20:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">If you think <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/team-fortress-2"><em>Team Fortress 2</em></a> is just a quality, team-based shooter, you'd be wrong. It's a quality, team-based shooter with a ton of lore building up behind it, and every update seems to bring a little more backstory and a little more meaning into the picture. Take, for example, <a href="http://www.teamfortress.com/loosecanon/index.html">this recently-released Engineer comic</a>, which hints at two major updates to the Engineer class coming soon to the game. First, a metal called Australium, which has some special properties and a golden hue, and second, a life-extender machine which, you might guess, extends life.<br />

And sure enough, players have found <a href="http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1334460">code in the game's most recent update</a> that shows a "golden wrench" is indeed coming to the Engineer. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQK4M9Ev7NM&amp;feature=player_embedded">This video</a> shows that the golden/Australium wrench will freeze opponents in their path, turning them into gold on the spot, and <a href="http://www.teamfortress.com/119/comingsoon.html">this teaser video</a> shows some other possible goodies due for the update as well. Leave it to Valve to turn a simple class deathmatch into a wild scavenger hunt for secret items and histories.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/03/team-fortress-2-comic-code-hint-at-engineer-update/">Team Fortress 2 comic, code hint at Engineer update</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 03 Jul 2010 01:30:00 EST. Many of you likely remember the first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/star-wars-the-force-unleashed"><em>Star Wars: The Force Unleashed</em></a>, a story penned by Haden Blackman which told the tale of Darth Vader's secret apprentice. Now <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/12/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-2-revealed-intense/">the sequel has been announced</a> and Blackman is not only returning to work on the sequel, but has also been tapped to be the scribe on this 88-page trade from <a href="http://www.darkhorse.com/Books/17-179/Star-Wars-The-Force-Unleashed-Volume-2-tpb">Dark Horse</a>. <br />
<br />
The first comic based on the first game managed to sell 88,000 copies -- not much compared to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/23/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-has-sold-seven-million-copies/">how many copies the game sold</a>, but still a figure no Sith should scoff at. You'll be able to grab your own copy for $10.99 come October 6, three weeks before <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/04/force-unleashed-ii-beaming-down-october-26/">the game's launch</a>.<br />

Curious about the variety of artistic and thematic comic book styles you'll experience once you get your hot little hands on Twisted Pixel's action-platformer, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/comic-jumper"><em>Comic Jumper</em></a><em>?</em> The game's second overworld was recently revealed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/comic-jumper-nanoc-the-obliviator-screenshots">in screenshots</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/comic-jumper-nanoc-the-obliviator-concept-art/">concept art</a>, and ... well, we sure hope the estate of Robert E. Howard never sees this particular stage, as it clearly parodies his beefy, Cimmerian brainchild. Heck, the comic's named <em>Nanoc: The Obliviator</em> -- flip it around, and you get <em>Conan</em>. (Actually, you get <em>Rotaivilbo Eht: Conan</em>, but ... well, two of those words aren't words.)<br />

If you're a fan of both the high-energy electro-rock stylings of <a href="http://www.anamanaguchi.com/">Anamanaguchi</a> and the illustrated adventures of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Pilgrim">Scott Pilgrim</a>, you're in for a serendipitous treat -- the 'Guch announced during their PAX East concert last night that they would be providing the musical accompaniment for Ubisoft's recently announced video game adaptation of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/25/scott-pilgrim-game-tackled-by-ubisoft/"><em>Scott Pilgrim</em> comic series</a>. Given the comic's penchant for 8-bit gaming references, and the band's penchant for 8-bit gaming synthesizers, we think this partnership is a match made in heaven.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/27/chiptune-rock-band-anamanaguchi-providing-soundtrack-for-scott-p/">Chiptune rock band Anamanaguchi providing soundtrack for Scott Pilgrim game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 27 Mar 2010 23:59:00 EST. It looks like Dark Horse is chomping at the bit to squeeze a bit more commercial success out of BioWare's deep space opera franchise, following the impressive sales of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mass-effect"><em>Mass Effect</em></a> comic mini-series, "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/14/mass-effect-redemption-issues-flying-off-retailer-shelves/">Redemption</a>." During a Dark Horse Comics panel at the Seattle-based Emerald City Comic-Con, it was announced that <em>Mass Effect </em>writer Mac Walters and John Jackson Miller, writer of the original mini-series, would be teaming up to create a regular, monthly <em>Mass Effect </em>comic.<br />
<br />
According to <a href="http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&amp;id=25304">Comic Book Resources</a>, the plot of the series will "follow the second game." We don't know if that means it will actually cover the events of <em>Mass Effect 2</em>, or if it takes place shortly thereafter. What we <em>do</em> know is that the panel also brought the announcement that Patton Oswalt is working on a <em>Firefly</em> comic, which takes place shortly after the events of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serenity_%28film%29"><em>Serenity</em></a>, and that's the best news we've ever heard in our whole lives.<br />

The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/07/idw-producing-dragon-age-and-army-of-two-comics/">previously announced</a> <em>Dragon Age</em> comic series will begin next <a href="http://www.idwpublishing.com/news/article/960/">March</a>. Penned by Orson Scott Card (<em>Ender's Game</em>, <em>Empire</em>), the story appears to revolve around rogue (the concept, not the class) mages within the Circle of Magi who "will defy the rules of the Templars and change the course of the world forever."<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/BioWare/">BioWare</a> and TOR previously released the <em>Dragon Age</em> novel, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/15/biowares-dragon-age-origins-receives-prequel-novel/"><em>The Stolen Throne</em></a>, which if you're into the whole words without pictures thing, sets the stage and gives plenty of background for the epic RPG.<br />

Ever wonder how <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted"><em>Uncharted</em></a> protagonist Nathan Drake got so darn pithy? Curious how he developed his Spider-Man-like acrobatic finesse? Want to know how he met up with his cigar-chomping partner in crime, Victor Sullivan? All these questions and more will (probably) be answered in the next piece of <em>Uncharted</em> errata coming from developer Naughty Dog: A motion comic set before the events of the first game, titled <em>Uncharted: Eye of Indra</em>.<br />
<br />
The project was announced during <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/10/uncharted-2-among-thieves-out-now-live-chat-with-naughty-dog-today-at-2pm-pt/">yesterday's PlayStation.Blog live chat with Naughty Dog's</a> Travis McIntosh and Neil Druckmann. According to them, the motion comic will be voiced by many of the actors from the game series, and focuses on "a prequel story that we eventually cut" from <em>Uncharted 2</em>. We hope the story reaches back far enough to show when Nate's mother taught him how to <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/01/23/tim-schafer-muses-on-the-wonders-of-uncharteds-half-tuck/">dress himself in such a slapdash manner</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/14/nate-drakes-origins-to-be-explored-in-uncharted-prequel-motion/">Nate Drake's origins to be explored in Uncharted prequel motion comic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Oct 2009 10:45:00 EST. Through <a href="http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/permalink/?ndmViewId=news_view&amp;newsId=20091005005414&amp;newsLang=en">a joint collaboration</a> with IDW Publishing and EA's new EA Comics brand, comic versions of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dragon-age-origins"><em>Dragon Age</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/army-of-two"><em>Army of Two</em></a> will find themselves on shelves and available for download on iTunes in monthly runs. The comics will be backed by some pretty heavy hitters; <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/orson-scott-card">Orson Scott Card</a> will be penning the story for <em>Dragon Age</em> and veteran Peter Milligan will be handling the story for <em>Army of Two</em>, which is due to start its run sometime in January 2010.<br /><br />There's no information on the <em>Dragon Age</em> comic at this time, however we know the events of the <em>Army of Two</em> bromic (see what we did there?) will bridge the gap between the conclusion of the first game and the events of <em>The 40th Day</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/07/idw-producing-dragon-age-and-army-of-two-comics/">IDW producing Dragon Age and Army of Two comics</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Oct 2009 03:01:00 EST. Having wisely decided against creating a fantasy epic set within the span of just a few hours, BioWare's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dragon-age-origins"><em>Dragon Age</em></a> is ripe for exploration in all forms of media. With <em>Dragon Age: Origins</em> set to arrive this November, the RPG maestros have drafted the internet's <a href="http://www.penny-arcade.com">Penny Arcade</a> to provide a new comic for the game's official website.<br /><br />You can read the first part of "Witch Hunt" over <a href="http://dragonage.bioware.com/pennyarcade">here</a>. For the full <em>Dragon Age</em> experience, marketers recommend you do so with an inappropriate Marilyn Manson track screeching in the background.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/04/penny-arcades-dragon-age-origins-comic-debuts/">Penny Arcade's Dragon Age: Origins comic debuts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Sep 2009 01:00:00 EST. Looking for some supplementary materials for Sony Online Entertainment's utterly adorable, free-to-play MMO <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/free-realms"><em>Free Realms</em></a>? You're in luck. DC Comics brand <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wildstorm">WildStorm</a> and SOE are <a href="http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?loadnews=14448&amp;bhcp=1">teaming up to publish a comic book</a> series based on the popular online game. J.S. Lewis, the author of the <em>Grey Griffins</em> children's book series, will be penning the story, but let's be honest -- you won't be picking up the comics for the <em>story</em>.<br /><br />No, we wager you'll purchase the comics because of the unlockable in-game items they'll contain. The first issue, which drops July 29, includes the "Spider Bite Sword." We imagine the following 11 issues will include equally enticing armaments. <a href="http://comics.ign.com/articles/100/1003469p1.html">IGN</a> is reporting that DC/Wildstorm Comics and Sony are teaming up to chronicle the events of Kratos in a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/god-of-war"><em>God of War</em></a> comic series. Spanning six issues, this new comic will hit stands this October and is being written by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marv_Wolfman">Marv Wolfman</a> who, among being a notable dude in the comics biz, is also a big fan of the games. <br /><br />The series, which will run up until the release of <em>God of War III,</em> focuses on the sordid tales of Kratos' past, detailing his enrollment in the Spartan army at the age of seven, as well as events that occur between the first two games. What we're wondering is how the comic will include the QTE sex scene. You can't have <em>God of War</em> without that!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/dc-comics-to-offer-god-of-war-mini-series-this-october/">DC Comics to offer God of War mini-series this October</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 16:00:00 EST. Remember when we discovered an early prototype of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/17/sony-working-on-download-psp-comic-service/">downloadable comics service</a> for PSP? Well, it looks like it's coming to fruition. According to a release by <a href="http://www.jp.playstation.com/info/release/nr_20090708_psstore_comic.html">PlayStation Japan</a>, comics will be made available through the PlayStation Store by year's end. The comics will take advantage of the high resolution screen offered by the PSP, and will be compatible with all versions of the PSP, from the original 1000 to the new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psp-go">PSP Go</a>.<br /><br />SCEA and SCEE have not announced plans to follow in Japan's footsteps. However, we're hopeful that by year's end, PSP owners will be able to read both English and Japanese comics on the go.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/08/comic-download-service-hitting-psp-by-end-of-year-in-japan/">Comic download service hitting PSP by end of year in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Jul 2009 12:30:00 EST. Capcom's Unity blog posted a <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/snow_infernus/blog/2009/03/25/resident_evil_comic_interview_and_preview">preview of the new comic</a> based on the <em>Resident Evil</em> universe as well as an interview with Ricardo Sanchez, writer of the upcoming six-part series. According to Sanchez, the series takes place around the same time as (and possibly before) the events of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Resident-Evil-5/">Resident Evil 5</a></em>, introducing readers to a pair of new characters: BSAA rookie Mina Gere and weathered BSAA vet, Holiday Sugarman.<br /> <br /> Holiday... Sugarman. That's a name. That name... <em>exists</em>.<br /> <br /> The story begins aboard an international space station that Gere is sent to investigate following reports of T-Virus research. The simple investigation quickly goes south when the rookie finds herself alone in space with an infected crew (which, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dead-space">kind of sounds familiar</a>). Sugarman -- still reeling from the loss of his family in a bio-weapon incident -- starts his adventure in <strike>Willy Wonka's Factory</strike> the fictional country of Grezbekistan (which Sanchez says would be found around Afghanistan or Turkey, part of the world). Eventually the story will bring the pair to South America where they will "encounter a variety of T-Virus and G-Virus infected monsters, some with new twists, that are part of the <em>Resident Evil</em> universe," Sanchez says.<br /> <br /> Unfortunately, Sanchez does not detail if readers will be able <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/09/branching-dialogue-dont-shoot-or-ill-move-a-resident-evil/">to walk (or run)</a> while they enjoy the comic. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/25/kawata-resident-evil-6-could-take-8-years">We suspect they won't</a>. The first issue of <em>Resident Evil</em> will hit stores this May.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/29/capcom-unity-previews-new-resident-evil-comic-mini-series/">Capcom Unity previews new Resident Evil comic mini-series</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 29 Mar 2009 12:30:00 EST. Few beloved characters from our childhood have fallen quite as hard as Sonic the Hedgehog. After numerous franchise reboots that included an <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaj35RF4Rnk">inappropriate romp with a Princess</a> and a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sonic-unleashed">Werehog</a> scare, Sonic looks to recapture an audience ... in comic book form!<br /> <br /> From the pages of Archie Comics comes <em><a href="http://archie-blogs.archiecomics.com/sonic_universe/">Sonic Universe -- the monthly series</a></em>, on its soon-to-ship second issue. <em>Sonic Universe</em> trails Shadow the Hedgehog and Metal Sonic taking their rivalry to a whole new dimension. Fans of the franchise will enjoy settle callbacks to simpler, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/07/sega-realizes-sonic-games-havent-been-very-good/">better</a>, Sonic times, like the above flashback to <em>Sonic Adventure 2</em> where Sonic and Shadow went <strike>Mano-e-Mano</strike> Hedgehog-e-(artificially created)-Hedgehog for the first time. Seeing as though this is published by Archie Comics, we can't wait to see the issue where <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Other_characters_in_Sonic_the_Hedgehog_%28games%29#Blaze_the_Cat">Blaze the Cat</a> goes up against <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Weatherbee">Mr. Weatherbee</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/18/previewd-sonic-universe-the-comic/">Preview'd! Here at Joystiq we hear a lot of rumors, but few that point and click on our hearts like news that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bone">Bone</a> </em>may be making a return visit to video games. This according to trade magazine <a href="http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/CA6643205.html?rssid=192">Publishers Weekly</a>, which casually mentioned a new <em>Bone </em>game while listing the final colorized take on Jeff Smith's renowned series amidst March's top selling comics. <br /><br />While unconfirmed, the publication notes the game will be released this spring, leaving us more than a little skeptical given that it's already March and nothing has yet been announced. Even so, we've reached out to developer Telltale Games for more information. Besides, since Telltale cast aside Phoney, Smiley and Fone Bone in 2006 for a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/SamAndMax/">lagamorph</a> and a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/homestar-runner/">macrocephalic boxer</a>, our gaming habit has been sorely lacking. Though mostly in stupid, stupid rat creatures. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://vgtribune.com/rumor-new-bone-game-in-the-works/">VGTribune</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/13/rumor-new-bone-game-coming-in-this-spring/">Rumor: New Bone game coming in this spring</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Mar 2009 09:30:00 EST. If you're chomping at the bit for scraps of information regarding BioWare and LucasArts' upcoming long ago and far, far away MMO <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Star%20Wars%3A%20The%20Old%20Republic">Star Wars: The Old Republic</a></em>, you'd be wise to <a href="http://www.swtor.com/news/article/20090227_001">turn your attention to the first issue</a> of the game's Dark Horse-produced online comic, "<a href="http://www.massively.com/2009/02/07/bioware-and-dark-horse-team-up-for-the-old-republic-webcomic/">Threat of Peace</a>." With writing from BioWare's Rob Chestney and art from <em>JSA Classified </em>illustrator Alex Sanchez, it's higher caliber work than your usual webcomic fare. Sure, it's a scant three pages long, but with future installments dropping every two weeks, it should prove an invaluable resource for the <em>KotOR</em>-uninitiated who can't tell their Kashyyyks apart from their Coruscants.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/bioware-and-dark-horse-release-issue-one-of-old-republic-webcomi/">BioWare and Dark Horse release first issue of Old Republic webcomic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Feb 2009 11:14:00 EST. Let's talk about obvious things for a while. <em>Bankruptcy sucks</em>. That's pretty obvious, right? DreamWave Comics was working on a comic based on the <em>Killzone </em>universe. However, it never saw the light of day due to the company's financial meltdown.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.thebbps.com/blog/2009/01/30/30-days-of-killzone-the-comic-that-never-was/">The BBPS.com</a> has some interesting images that were made before the company's dismantling in 2005. To think, this comic would've been perfect to launch in tandem with the upcoming game (maybe as a Limited Edition bonus?). The quality of the art is staggering.<br /><br />Too bad it'll never come to fruition. With <em>Killzone</em>'s current fandom, we think hordes of players would've rushed to buy this comic. Isn't that obvious?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/30/the-killzone-comic-youll-never-see/">The Killzone comic you'll never see</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Jan 2009 19:37:00 EST. New details have emerged surrounding Wildstorm's upcoming comic book take on Radical Entertainment's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/prototype"><em>Prototype</em></a>. First <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/16/prototype-comic-coming-from-dc-this-august/">announced last April</a>, the graphic reworking will be penned by <em>Jonah Hex</em> writing duo, Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, with illustrations by <em>Transmetropolitan </em>co-creator, Darick Robertson. <br /><br />The adaptation's debut issue will cut into comic book pull lists this April as the first in a six part mini-series. But read slowly. Even with a variant cover by veteran <em>X-Men</em> and <em>WildC.A.T.s</em> artist, Jim Lee, that's still just one issue <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/09/ces-2009-zmak-would-love-to-show-us-all-12-hours-of-prototype/">for every two hours of game</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/prototype-comic-detailed-hitting-stands-in-april/">Prototype comic detailed, hitting stands in April</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Jan 2009 00:15:00 EST. Level-5's first big PS3 RPG, <em>White Knight Chronicles</em>, is hitting Japan very soon. In order to get the populace ready for this epic adventure, the <a href="http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/shirokishi/">official Japanese site</a> now features a beautifully illustrated prequel manga. Simply click on "Special" at the top of the site to get a peek at the first issue. Sure, it's in Japanese, but for fans that are eagerly awaiting this game, this is a nice way of seeing the expansive world of <em>WKC</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/white-knight-chronicles-prequel-manga-goes-live/">White Knight Chronicles prequel manga goes live</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 10 Dec 2008 10:15:00 EST. <br />The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/house-of-the-dead"><em>House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/20/house-of-the-dead-overkill-gets-euro-release-date-collectors/">collector's edition</a> bundle is one of the best preorder items we've seen in a while, so it was understandably upsetting when Sega <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/20/house-of-the-dead-overkill-gets-euro-release-date-collectors/">initially revealed</a> the package as a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/europe">Europe</a>-only bonus. You can pack that pitchfork away for another day, however, because Sega has confirmed it will be spreading the love to North America. Preorder <em>Overkill</em> at <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">GameStop, GameCrazy, or Amazon</span>, and you'll have the option to bag all of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/house-of-the-dead-overkill/1174344/full">this</a>. Yum.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/north-america-also-getting-house-of-the-dead-overkill-bonus/">North America also getting House of the Dead: Overkill bonus</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Nov 2008 11:55:00 EST. <br />Sega will release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/house-of-the-dead"><em>The House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a> in Europe next February, and there'll be an optional bonus at "selected retailers" for fans who preorder: this rad Collector's Edition. Arriving in a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/house-of-the-dead-overkill/1174346/full/">fetching minimalist slipcase</a> (loving the authentic <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/house-of-the-amazing-swag/">scuff marks</a>), this will come bundled with a graphic novel that tells the stories of Agent Washington and Varla Gunns, and the events that lead up to the game.<br /><br />Here's the downside: this sweet package has so far only been announced for PAL regions -- apart from Germany, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/19/madworld-house-of-the-dead-overkill-wont-be-released-in-germa/">obviously</a>. Sucks to be Germany, eh?
