EA is clearly no longer interested in keeping the development of
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 a secret, what with the forthcoming title appearing rather prominently on the cover of
PC Gamer's April 2008 issue. Though details are currently scarce,
Red Alert 3 is likely to provide another strategic romp through an alternate history that began when a time-traveling Albert Einstein erased Hitler from the history books. The unfortunate side-effect, of course, was the rise of Soviet power and stylized, AK-wielding ladies (pictured).
The game's intended platforms have yet to be revealed, though our keen journalistic sense tells us that the
PC Gamer cover hints at an appearance on the ...
Gizmondo? No, that can't be right. If only EA would quit Stalin and give us some more info!

Sci-fi sex alien Natasha Henstridge of
Species fame will join the cast of
Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath, as will former
Alias star Carl Lumbly, better known around these parts as the voice of J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter on the
Justice League animated series.
The pair will join veteran
C&C actor Joe Kucan, a.k.a. Kane, as the central characters in the upcoming expansion, which will cover 20 years of in-game history, from the rebirth of the Brotherhood of Nod following the second Tiberium War to events beyond that of the most recent game.
The use of digitized actors is something of a ghost of gaming past, but
Command & Conquer has nonetheless continued to embrace tradition in using live actors in its games, and any news that gives us an excuse to (go)ogle Natasha Henstridge is just fine by us.

Command & Conquer: The First Decade, EA's comprehensive celebration of all things
C&C,
packed a lot of value into one box set, offering all 12 games and expansions spanning the series' ten-year existence. The compilation seemed to be all a
C&C fan could ask for, though not according to EA, as the company has strangely announced plans to revisit the set
less than two years later with
Command & Conquer Saga, adding this year's
Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars on top of everything else included in
The First Decade.
But why stop there? At $50,
Saga will admittedly include a lot for players' hard earned credits, but we have to wonder if subsequent
C&C games will be likewise bundled into new,
even more comprehensive packages shortly after their solo debut. With
Tiberium Wars set to
suffer Kane's Wrath in early 2008, we fully expect yet another collection to follow in short order. Mark your calendars for
Command & Conquer: The Whole Enchilada for release in time for the 2009 holiday rush.

That's what they say. Publishing monolith
EA has
announced that four of its
Cider-powered Mac OS X titles are now available to purchase on
Apple's online store today. The initial burst looks to satisfy a variety of Intel Mac gamers, including those who are partial to waging futuristic war (
Battlefield 2142!), owning
totally sick rides (
Need for Speed Carbon!), casting ex-crucio-ting spells (
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix!) and, uh, waging even more futuristic war (
Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars!).
The games will also materialize on minimalistic shelves within Apple retail stores, with
Potter and
Need For Speed arriving on Tuesday, 21 August.
Battlefield 2142 and
Tiberium Wars should arrive the following week on 28 August. Though the tardy titles, namely
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 and
Madden NFL 08, were promised to arrive on the same day as other systems at
WWDC, you can now expect their respective balls to come crashing through the "September/October window."

We're torn this morning. Sure, we'd love to order all of you to go out and download the hulking behemoth that is the
Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars demo from Xbox Live. We'd like to, but we just can't until we get some questions answered. Well, one question, really: How much
Billy Dee Williams does the demo contain?
Sure, we're happy that,
as previously announced, we're finally seeing how the RTS's controls translate to the 360. And don't get us wrong, we dig the Brotherhood of Nod, Kane, all that jazz. But what we really love, what keeps us coming back is GDI Director Redmond Boyle, BDW himself. The official description of the demo is of little help, heck, it doesn't even mention if the demo is single or multiplayer. The demo is 1GB though, so maybe the extra space was needed to store all of Mr. Williams' supercool, Colt 45-induced swagger. So, we're downloading now, as we're sure you are too, but without the presence of BDW, you can rest assured we'll be on that delete button faster than Lando Calrissian in the Millennium Falcon. (We're joking, of course --
nothing is that fast.)
[Thanks, kritz]

Today's most-popular GameTrailers video is a trailer for
Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. RTS fans hope that the third
C&C title lives up to the classic original, and the early word is that the March (PC) game should be fun.
RTS aside, we're most excited about the return of full-motion videos with real actors. Bring on the emotion.
Watch the FMV-free trailer after the break, and take a peak at a bonus video from last year that shows Joe Kucan as Kane.

Here at Joystiq we don't always pay proper attention to PC gaming. Luckily FiringSquad has picked up the slack. The site has issued its 'Most Anticipated' games of the year list, featuring twenty upcoming titles. Here's a look at the top five:
- Supreme Commander (Gas Powered Games/THQ) - spiritual successor to Total Annihilation; sci-fi RTS with dual-monitor support
- Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (Splash Damage/id Software/Activision) - prequel to Quake 2; two playable sides (Human and Strogg) are said to offer vastly different gameplay experiences
- World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade (Blizzard) - the expansion to end all expansions ('cha-ching')
- Spore (Maxis/EA) - from single-celled to universe conqueror; the video game to end all video games
- Crysis (Crytek/EA) - it has the looks, can it live up to the hype?
Which games are you planning to upgrade your rig for?

Josh Holloway (
Lost), Billy Dee Williams (
The Empire Strikes Back), Grace Park and Tricia Helfer (
Battlestar Galactica) have been announced as part of the cast for
Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. The two Cylons, Sawyer, and Lando Calrissian will be joining Joseph D. Kucan, who has played Kane in every
Command and Conquer game since its inception, and the voice of
Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher, Michael Ironside.
Tiberium Wars is slated for release sometime in 2007 for PC. Traditionally, the series has used real actors for its in-game clips and cutscenes. Here's to hoping each actor will have their own in-game unit, chock full of colorful phrases.

Can you say
"sequelitis"?
Several
members of the 3D Realms forum have posted scans from the latest issue of
PC Gamer which reveals that a
third game in the
Command & Conquer franchise is being worked on. The cover of the magazine features the
words
"Command & Conquer 3" in very large letters with a full preview inside the mag showing
off pictures of units from the game. We're sure a lot of fans are very happy at this news, and that EA will be very
happy to take their money! See you in ten years when
Command & Conquer:
The Second Decade is out.
