The comparison video seen <a href="http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/6703662.html">here</a> shows that mechs, lasers and melee attacks all lack the amped-up pace of the original, as though the game were being played in slightly-slow-motion.<br /><br />Other concerns have been raised over framerate inconsistencies between the 360 and PS3 versions of <em>ZOEHDC</em>, with <a href="http://ps360.ldblog.jp/archives/53821248.html">video comparisons</a> supposedly showing that the 360 version runs at a higher, more consistent average framerate than its PS3 sister. Regardless, neither version consistently runs at the 60-frames-per-second figure stated by the collection's <a href="http://www.konami.jp/zoe_hd/en_uk/reboot.html">official UK website</a>, rather the majority of the game operates between 30 and 40 FPS.<br /><br />Unfortunately, this isn't the first time such reports have come in regarding an HD rerelease of a Konami classic: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/silent-hill-hd-collection"><em>Silent Hill HD Collection</em></a> had its fair share of framerate issues, so much so that a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/08/silent-hill-hd-collection-patched-on-ps3-xbox-update-cancelled/">patch was pushed for the PS3 version</a> and Xbox 360 owners were given the option to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/10/konami-offers-silent-hill-hd-collection-exchanges-for-xbox-360-u/">exchange the game entirely</a>. We've reached out to Konami for a statement and will update with any new information we receive.<br /><br /><small>[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]</small><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/01/zone-of-the-enders-hd-collection-compared-to-source-material/">Zone of the Enders HD Collection compared to source material</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Nov 2012 22:30:00 EST. Being the sequel to the game that famously brought even the most powerful PC gaming rigs to their knees, you'd expect <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/crysis-2"><em>Crysis 2</em></a> to be, how should we say, significantly <em>streamlined</em> for its release on Xbox 360 and PS3. Aw heck, we'll just say it -- how could the console versions even hold a candle to the PC? As evidenced by the video after the break, the 360 does a fine job of keeping up, at least in multiplayer.<br />
<br />
In the split-screen footage, it's clear that the PC version sports higher-resolution textures, some higher-detail models and different (one might say improved) lighting. Other than that, though, the two appear fairly close to the untrained eye. Of course, this is multiplayer, so both versions are less fancy in order to keep the framerate up, but this should at least make for some good anecdotal evidence for console players afraid they're missing out big-time by not having a $3,000 PC.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/10/crysis-2-vs-crysis-2-pc-and-xbox-visuals-compared/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Crysis 2 vs. Crysis 2: PC and Xbox visuals compared</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/10/crysis-2-vs-crysis-2-pc-and-xbox-visuals-compared/">Crysis 2 vs. Crysis 2: PC and Xbox visuals compared</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Mar 2011 19:00:00 EST. Not satisfied with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/23/digital-foundry-puts-mass-effect-2-on-ps3-under-its-microscope/">its analysis</a> of the PS3 <em>Mass Effect 2</em> demo -- which was apparently based on old code -- Digital Foundry has posted a <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-masseffect2-face-off">lengthy comparison</a> of the PS3 and Xbox 360 retail editions of <em>Mass Effect 2</em>. There's a lot of information to digest in the article, including several videos and screenshots. The upshot: Most gamers won't notice the differences between the two games, though it seems the 360 version barely edges out the PS3 one in terms of a consistent frame-rate.<br />
<br />
The only significant difference, which boils down to personal preference, is the lighting in the two games. DF notes that the PS3 version's lighting is generally brighter than the 360 game, though not necessarily improved from a technical standpoint. The article also examines the effectiveness of the PS3's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/18/video-mass-effect-2s-interactive-genesis-comic-on-ps3/">"Genesis" comic intro</a>, as opposed to actually playing the original <em>Mass Effect</em> on 360.<br />
<br />
In the end, if you just <em>have</em> to own the most technically impressive version, DF suggests you choose ... the PC version, of course.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/19/digital-foundry-pits-ps3-mass-effect-2-against-xbox-360-original/">Digital Foundry pits PS3 Mass Effect 2 against Xbox 360 original</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Jan 2011 23:00:00 EST. If there were any question about how much the recently released <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/goldeneye-007">Goldeneye</a></em> title for Nintendo Wii closely resembles its N64 predecessor -- regardless of the source material -- this video from <a href="http://www.rewindreplay.com/goldeneye/">RewindReplayTV</a> certainly cements it. Beyond the game's setting and characters, there are shot-for-shot moments that directly recreate the original game (albeit with far more detail and polish). <br />
<br />
Also, if you needed a stirring reminder of how much a Nintendo 64 game can age over the years, <em>Goldeneye 64</em> is perhaps the pinnacle among available examples. Seeing it against Eurocom's sterling Wii effort only serves to highlight the ravages of time all the more. See for yourself below the fold.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/09/goldeneye-n64-wii-comparison/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>See how Goldeneye 007 stacks up to its N64 predecessor</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/09/goldeneye-n64-wii-comparison/">See how Goldeneye 007 stacks up to its N64 predecessor</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Nov 2010 18:30:00 EST. If the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/22/crackdown-2-gets-ultra-violent-prequel-cartoon/">recent animated prequel</a> didn't convince you that Pacific City, the setting for the <em>Crackdown</em> series, has gone to hell in a handbasket since the franchise's first installment, then perhaps this will do the trick. <a href="http://www.bitmob.com/articles/crackdown-1-vs-crackdown-2-panoramic-graphics-comparison">BitMob</a> recently posted a panoramic comparison of the city as it looked in <em>Crackdown</em> to how it looks in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crackdown-2"><em>Crackdown 2</em></a>. In short, it looks like a <em>really, really</em> terrible place to live now.<br />
<br />
Watch as some of the notable landmarks from the first game crumble, decay or simply become derelict due to the influx of violent mutants that plague <em>Crackdown 2</em>. It looks like Pacific City has become a generally more dangerous place to take up residence -- though, as a concern, we imagine that ranks second behind what this gruesome makeover has done to the city's property values.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/26/the-worlds-of-crackdown-and-crackdown-2-compared/">The worlds of Crackdown and Crackdown 2 compared</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 May 2010 18:40:00 EST. So, you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/05/review-final-fantasy-xiii/">read our review</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy XIII</em></a> and are prepared to pick it up next week, but you're not sure which version to buy? If you're basing your decision on graphical fidelity, the A/V experts from Eurogamer's <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-final-fantasy-xiii-face-off">Digital Foundry suggest</a> you go with the PS3 version of the game -- as seen in their quartet of video comparisons, the 360 version suffered a bit of resolution reduction during its trip between platforms.<br />
<br />
No, the difference in quality isn't <em>groundbreaking</em> or anything. We just wanted you to know all the factors before making a decision. Both versions have their strengths and weaknesses -- for instance, the 360 version requires you to change the disc <em>two times</em>, but the PS3 version of the game is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/@apocalyps3">unplayable once every 1,461 days</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/05/digital-foundry-360-version-of-final-fantasy-xiii-adequate-but/">Digital Foundry: 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII 'adequate but a touch disappointing'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 05 Mar 2010 21:15:00 EST. By now, you've likely dissected every frame of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/12/halo-reach-vidoc-heads-once-more-unto-the-breach/">the new <em>Halo: Reach</em> trailer</a>, mining its most precious <em>infoz</em> to your heart's content. Or maybe (like us) you work for a living, or have other responsibilities that keep you from busting out the microscope and going to town. That's where <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-halo-reach-alpha-analysis-blog-entry">Digital Foundry</a> comes in.<br />
<br />
DF conducted a thorough breakdown of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/12/x10/">X10</a> video, monitoring the frames-per-second (<em>fups</em>, as us <em>cool kids</em> call it) in all of the presented gameplay. All in all, the ViDoc seems to have spoken the truth: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-reach"><em>Halo: Reach</em></a>'s engine is a significant improvement over that of <em>Halo 3</em>'s. It looks like <em>Reach</em> should run at a smooth 30fps, the same as its predecessor<em>,</em> at a higher resolution: 1152x720 over <em>Halo 3</em>'s 1152x640. Yep, you pixel-counters just read that right. Head on over and give <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-halo-reach-alpha-analysis-blog-entry">the video</a> a gander.<br />

Sound familiar? It reminded us of the day in late October when Nintendo announced a new version of the DSi, called the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/29/nintendo-officially-announces-large-screen-dsi-ll-hits-japan-no/">DSi LL</a> (DSi XL outside of Japan). Like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/27/the-apple-ipad/">iPad</a>, it's a version of a current device (in this case, the Nintendo DSi) that is distinguished by its <em>size</em>.<br />
<br />
So how does Apple's inflated iPod Touch stack up against Nintendo's luxury sedan of a DSi? We've compared the two in several <em>totally crucial </em> vectors, based mostly on the changes from the previous model.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/27/big-is-the-new-small-apple-ipad-vs-dsi-xl/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Big is the new small: Apple iPad vs. DSi XL</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/27/big-is-the-new-small-apple-ipad-vs-dsi-xl/">Big is the new small: Apple iPad vs. DSi XL</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Jan 2010 19:00:00 EST. Okay, if you want honesty: we can't usually tell the difference between Xbox 360 and PS3 clips when put side-by-side. We've been gaming since characters were less detailed than gingerbread men, so comparison clips always look like two gateways to the future chugging along next to each other. But if <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-assassins-creed-ii-face-off-article">DigitalFoundry</a> tells us there's juddering, then we're inclined to believe them, no matter what <em>juddering</em> actually means.<br />
<br />
Luckily, the team seems to be pretty happy with the PS3 version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-ii"><em>Assassin's Creed II</em></a>, following the original iteration's disappointing performance on the platform. That said, though the two consoles versions are much closer to each other this time, the site still leans towards the Xbox 360 version of the game for its sharper picture and smoother performance.<br />
<br />
For what it's worth, we think they're both winners.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/19/digitalfoundry-compares-assassins-creed-ii-on-xbox-360-ps3/">DigitalFoundry compares Assassin's Creed II on 360, PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Nov 2009 21:00:00 EST. Sure, the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/god-of-war-collection"><em>God of War Collection</em></a> is a lot more resolution-y than the original PS2 games, but does that produce a noticeably better-looking game? Bitmob tested the original <em>God of War</em> games on their backwards-compatible PS3 systems and took comparison shots of both. It's clear that the Blu-ray remastering is better than the PS2 original, even with the PS3 upscaler turned on.<br /><br />It certainly helps that the original source material was so good. Looking back at the first game has us impressed -- we'd forgotten how much muscle the last generation could flex.<br /><br /><a href="http://bitmob.com/index.php/mobfeed/graphics-comparison-god-of-war-vs-god-of-war-collection.html">Source</a> - Graphics Comparison (part one) God of War 1 vs. God of War Compilation<br /><a href="http://bitmob.com/index.php/mobfeed/graphics-comparison-god-of-war-2-vs-god-of-war-collection.html">Source</a> - Graphics Comparison (part two) God of War 2 vs. God of War Compilation<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/09/inspect-kratos-hd-facelift-in-god-of-war-collection/">Inspect Kratos' HD facelift in God of War Collection</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Nov 2009 15:30:00 EST. It's a big system, and kind of a big mystery, given that the only advance notice we had of the thing was a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/26/report-nintendo-updating-dsi-with-bigger-screens-this-year/"><em>Nikkei</em> blurb</a> two days prior. While we can't answer the <em>big</em> questions, like how long this idea has been in the works, and whether a <em>bigger</em> handheld is a good idea as an alternative to the DS's continual miniaturization, we <em>can</em> round up what we know and can reasonably speculate about the DSi XL -- right after the jump.<br />

You've likely been hearing reports about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bayonetta"><em>Bayonetta</em>'s</a> graphically <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/20/platinum-games-not-developing-ps3-version-of-bayonetta/">inferior PS3 version</a> for quite some time -- now, you can see the two versions of the title side-by-side in a <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/ps3-360-demo-bayonetta/57537">GameTrailers comparison video</a> in order to make an educated decision for yourself. It's posted after the jump, and is rated NSFW due to brief partial nudity, blood and terrifying hair monsters. <br />

Given an extra year of development, it's no wonder why the <em>Sigma</em> version of <em>Ninja Gaiden 2</em> is so far improved over the original. The upcoming PS3 exclusive adds a ton of new features, ranging from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/11/ninja-gaiden-sigma-2-includes-chapter-challenge-ninja-records-m/">awesome</a> to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/16/youll-shake-your-head-at-this-ninja-gaiden-ad/">downright ridiculous</a>. <a href="http://www.gameswire.net/comparisons/ninja-gaiden-sigma-2-playstation-3-vs-xbox-360-comparison_26.html">GamesWire</a> took screenshots of the original Xbox 360 <em>Ninja Gaiden 2</em> and compared them with the new <em>Sigma</em> edition, noting, "The lighting and textures are just so much better this time around and there's much more detail to be seen now too."<br /><br />Additionally, the <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/09/17/ninja-gaiden-sigma-2-interview-and-walkthrough-with-team-ninjas-yosuke-hayashi/">PlayStation.blog</a> took some time (10 minutes, actually) to show off the various features of <em>Sigma</em>. You'll get to see the Ultimate Ninpo in action, as well as an extended look at the new co-op mode -- and yes, you'll even see the franchise's notorious Game Over screen. Check that out after the break.<br /><br />[Thanks, Jeremy B.!]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.gameswire.net/comparisons/ninja-gaiden-sigma-2-playstation-3-vs-xbox-360-comparison_26.html">Source</a> - Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 - PlayStation 3 vs Xbox 360 Comparison<br /><a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/09/17/ninja-gaiden-sigma-2-interview-and-walkthrough-with-team-ninjas-yosuke-hayashi/">Source</a> - Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Interview and Walkthrough with Team Ninja's Yosuke Hayashi<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/video-ninja-gaiden-sigma-2-interview-plus-screenshot-comparisons/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 interview (plus: screenshot comparisons)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/video-ninja-gaiden-sigma-2-interview-plus-screenshot-comparisons/">Video: Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 interview (plus: screenshot comparisons)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Sep 2009 13:00:00 EST. Aside from sparkly background support and an expanded XMB interface, we've yet to point-2 many of the smaller differences between the PlayStation 3's 2.8-version firmware and its latest 3.0 update. Thankfully, we have the internet for that, and it's given us some new pedantic comparison videos to mull over and possibly dispute!<br /><br />Youtube user "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/PS3slimComparison">PS3slimComparison</a>" has documented console startup times, Blu-ray launch times and video game loading times on his PS3 Slim, first equipped with Firmware 2.8, and then Firmware 3.0. Waiting times appear to be shorter with 3.0 (and who doesn't want to get into <span style="font-style: italic;">Arkham Asylum</span> as fast as possible?), but we were curious to discover if there would be a notable speed improvement on a 60GB PS3 with the latest software. Based on our informally derived test results (see them after the break), the answer appears to be a curt "no." It's possible that 3.0 is tailored to take advantage of the Slim's newer hardware, excluding longtime owners from any supposed speed gains.<br /><br />Speculation aside, we were shocked to find just how much quicker 3.0 is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/02/users-report-firmware-3-0-causing-uncharted-freezes/">when it comes to <em>Uncharted</em></a> -- on 2.8, the game takes <em>forever</em> to freeze. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3updates&amp;thread.id=104009">PlayStation forums</a>; thanks, Garrett]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/02/ps3-firmware-3-0-loading-times-contrasted-with-2-8/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Firmware 3.0 loading times contrasted with 2.8</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/02/ps3-firmware-3-0-loading-times-contrasted-with-2-8/">Firmware 3.0 loading times contrasted with 2.8</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 Sep 2009 16:30:00 EST. <div align="left">Ever since it was announced that Rare's spiritual successor to <em>GoldenEye 007 </em>for N64, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/perfect-dark"><em>Perfect Dark</em></a>, was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/02/confirmed-perfect-dark-bound-for-xbla-this-winter/">coming to Xbox Live Arcade</a>, we've been wondering if it would simply see a bump in resolution (which it is). We jokingly throw the word "technophile" around when referring to our colleagues over at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/">Engadget</a> -- but their most recent <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/21/video-another-look-at-ps3-slim-and-its-removable-hdd/">video preview</a> of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ps3-slim">PS3 Slim</a> gives us serious cause for concern. You'll need to watch it (posted after the break) to see what we mean. We're not really disturbed by the way former <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/ross-miller">Joystiq writer Ross Miller</a> pries the svelte console's HDD from its innards. No, it's the soft piano music playing in the background and general tenderness exhibited by the cameraman that give the whole production an unsettling, <em>Graduate</em>-esque feel.<br /><br />"Oh, hey, PS3 Slim. <em>Look at you</em>. You're looking mighty <span style="font-style: italic;">shapely</span> this evening. Why don't you turn around for me. Yeah, <em>real slow</em>. Let me feel those <em>buttons</em>. Alongside the release of their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/04/ea-q1-sales-better-than-expected-still-slow/">financial</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/activision-exceeds-own-expectations-in-fiscal-q2/">data</a> for the quarter ending June 30, Activision and EA have also released detailed breakdowns of the revenue generated from their titles on each of the major consoles. Taking a look at the numbers tells an interesting story about each publisher. The bulk of EA's non-GAAP revenues come from the Wii, which generated $184 million for the company. The Xbox 360 takes the second spot at $136 million, followed by the PS3 at $99 million.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Activision's portfolio was much more dependent on the Xbox 360 and PS3, both garnering non-GAAP revenues of $140 million and $104 million, respectively. The Wii, in stark contrast to EA, only generated $74 million for Activision. It's important to note that companies calculate non-GAAP numbers in different ways, but they are useful in judging the financial proportions of each console.<br /><br />Joystiq reached out to EEDAR's <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/jesse-divnich">Jesse Divnich</a> for his thoughts on the results for each company. Find them after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/07/activision-vs-ea-quarterly-console-performance-of-gamings-pub/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Activision vs. EA: Quarterly console performance of gaming's publishing giants</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/07/activision-vs-ea-quarterly-console-performance-of-gamings-pub/">Activision vs. EA: Quarterly console performance of gaming's publishing giants</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 07 Aug 2009 18:25:00 EST. The upcoming PC and Xbox 360 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/25/croteam-seriously-remaking-serious-sam-for-xbla/">re-imagination</a> of <em>Serious Sam: The First Encounter</em> is more than an HD reboot of the classic Croatian FPS. Take a look at this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/serious-sam-the-first-encounter-hd-1/2107612/full/">comparison pic</a> to see all the new enhancements made. Nearly every aspect of the game's visuals has been changed. The textures are sharper and cleaner than before. The original's perfectly flat lawns are now replaced with individual blades of grass -- and look at that foliage, rendered with some classy <em>Crysis</em>-styled soft focus. Notice the dynamic shadows over our pumpkin-wearing, chainsaw-wielding friend? Now, imagine this level of detail on <em>hundreds</em> of on-screen enemies. It's no wonder we're excited to see <em>Serious Sam</em> make his long-awaited return.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/serious-sam-the-first-encounter-hd-1/">Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/serious-sam-the-first-encounter-hd-1/#2107612"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/serioussamhdcomp2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/serious-sam-the-first-encounter-hd-1/#2107609"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/2009-06-25_14-20-06-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/serious-sam-the-first-encounter-hd-1/#2107608"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/2009-06-25_14-20-06-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/serious-sam-the-first-encounter-hd-1/#2107607"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/2009-06-25_14-20-06-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/serious-sam-the-first-encounter-hd-1/#2107606"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/2009-06-25_14-20-06-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/25/compari-shot-serious-sams-hd-return/">Compari-shot: Serious Sam's HD return</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Jun 2009 16:45:00 EST. CryTek's newest, shiniest piece of tech is CryEngine 3, which will be put to use in the upcoming PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crysis-2"><em>Crysis 2</em></a>. While the first footage of the console versions looks remarkably similar to what you'd get from a PC, a closer examination reveals how top-end gaming PCs are still capable of rendering better graphics with CryEngine 2. According to tehdaza on <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRWRskYLdno">YouTube</a>, "CryEngine 3 running on console hardware is about the same as CryEngine 2 running on 'medium' settings." The look of the console versions can be recreated on the PC by using low textures, high shaders and object geometry and medium on all other settings.<br /><br />You can check out the video after the break. In it, you'll be able to compare the draw distance of the two engines and see the change in physics, texture work and more.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.n4g.com/News-346801.aspx">N4G</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/16/cryengine-3-equal-to-cryengine-2-medium-settings-reveals-comp/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CryEngine 3 equal to CryEngine 2 'medium' settings, comparison video reveals</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/16/cryengine-3-equal-to-cryengine-2-medium-settings-reveals-comp/">CryEngine 3 equal to CryEngine 2 'medium' settings, comparison video reveals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Jun 2009 17:10:00 EST. A handful of glaring changes have been made to the game since we last saw it, and it's obvious that an enormous amount of time has been spent to mold <em>Conviction</em> into what it is today. <br /><br />These changes became all the more apparent when we re-watched <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/23/a-splinter-cell-conviction-trailer-and-apology-to-sam/">the original 2007 trailer</a> for the title, featuring emo Sam Fisher in all his polygonal glory. What you see above is the closest approximation we could make of running both trailers concurrently, highlighting the incredible metamorphosis it has undergone in the past two years.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/splinter-cell-conviction/">Splinter Cell Conviction</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/splinter-cell-conviction/#2702412"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/02/x10convictionscreen580_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/splinter-cell-conviction/#2702411"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/02/scc_street_and_garden_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/splinter-cell-conviction/#2702410"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/02/scc_screen07hires_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/splinter-cell-conviction/#2702409"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/02/scc_screen07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/splinter-cell-conviction/#2702408"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/02/scc_screen05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/09/splinter-cell-conviction-trailers-then-and-now/">Splinter Cell: Conviction trailers: Then and now</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Jun 2009 13:30:00 EST. With a demo already out (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/30/psn-thursday-marvel-vs-capcom-vs-the-helghast/">exclusively</a> on PSN) for this summer's <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2">Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a></em> revival, we thought it would be a great idea to compare the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/marvel-vs-capcom-2s-graphical-options-compared/">three graphic filter options</a> in glorious HD video.<br /><br />Originally, our excuse for making the video was to play <em>MvC2</em> at work, but it turned out to be pretty informative. The filters -- which can be changed at any time-- start extremely "jaggy" in the classic mode, but get progressively softer on the eyes from crisp to smooth. In the end, the consensus around "the office" is that <em>MvC2</em> is so fast paced, it won't matter which filter you have it set to. But for arguments sake, which filter do you prefer?<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Marvel vs Capcom 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523541"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/028a60e23c9e34d3bfd6e72d521357c2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523542"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/46b452dba0dd13b7c69107a8977636dc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523543"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/97d603157488aa583da04336e929b107_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/7bf4fa0e74cade11882071a15aeed276_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/marvel-vs-capcom-2/#1523536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/470c362d7ebd82ff8380d220b6b1bc9a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/01/video-comparing-filter-options-for-marvel-vs-capcom-2/">Video: Comparing filter options for Marvel vs. Capcom 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 May 2009 16:31:00 EST. What changes can gamers expect when the once mobile-exclusive <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Final-Fantasy-IV-The-After-Years/">Final Fantasy IV: The After Years</a></em> comes to WiiWare? <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/03/26/before-and-after-final-fantasy-iv-the-after-years-comparison-screens/">Siliconera</a> decided to compare screens from the episodic mobile version of the game and new grabs from the upcoming WiiWare version to find out.<br /> <br /> Apart from showing off more real estate on screen -- taking advantage of widescreen -- slight tweaks have been made to the game's menus. The WiiWare's version of the battle menu now displays maximum character health as well as the ATB bar (pictured above). As for the graphics, the game will reuse the sprites found in the mobile game, which Siliconera notes are actually borrowed from the original <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_IV">Final Fantasy IV</a></em> adventure of the '90s. It's like a one-two punch of nostalgia and connecting your cell phone to a widescreen TV.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/27/final-fantasy-iv-the-after-years-screenshot-comparison/">Final Fantasy IV: The After Years screenshot comparison</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Mar 2009 14:00:00 EST. <div align="left">Since the beginning of this console generation, one question has been on the minds of ... probably a few people, at some point: which home console is the fastest downloader? To answer that question, the staff of MTV Multiplayer engaged in an informal experiment using the one game shared by <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/psn">PSN</a>, <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">XBLA</a>, and <a href="www.joystiq.com/tag/wiiware">WiiWare</a>: <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/09/23/wii-fanboy-review-mega-man-9/"><em>Mega Man 9</em></a>. <br />
<br />
The winner? It's kind of complicated! For one thing, it turns out that the Wii version of the game is <em>much</em> smaller: just 8.3 MB versus 63 MB on PSN and 88.7 on XBLA, necessitating a MB/sec measurement. In addition, the download speeds varied for the three members of the Multiplayer team, preventing a definitive answer. They tested the download speeds of various other (non-shared) games and got the same all-over-the-place results.<br />
<br />
In the end, they were able to come to a useful conclusion: the PlayStation 3 downloaded games more quickly over a wireless connection, and the Xbox 360 downloaded games more quickly overall (because of its use of a wired connection). You guys can probably get some kind of fanboy boast out of that if you really want to.<br />

Checking our inbox this morning, we were greeted by an email from Sony cautioning us that, unlike PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and Wii aren't good values for our gaming dollars. There was even a chart (above) attached to spell it out in black &amp; white (&amp; red).<br /><br />The informercial-esque message -- titled "Keeping Entertainment Simple" -- made our day with colorful accusations, including one that the Xbox 360 "requires ... multiple upgrades and additional external devices, putting a burden on the wallet and adds clutter to the entertainment center." That clutter would be the Wireless Network Adapter, which snaps onto the back of the 360, we suppose. <em>So cluttery</em>!<br /><br />There were even lighthearted jabs at Wii, like the "fact" that its "lack of enhanced features comes at the expense of a comprehensive entertainment solution." Still, it was the ominous warning that Sony's competitors would "continue peddling add-ons in an effort to keep up" (what, like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/ps3-keypad-officially-coming-first-week-of-december/">PS3 Wireless Keypad</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/03/ps3-headset-priced-at-50-for-north-america/">Bluetooth Headset</a>?) that solidified this email as an office classic.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/sony-ps3-keeps-entertainment-simple-360-and-wii-dont/">Sony: PS3 'keeps entertainment simple,' 360 and Wii don't</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Jan 2009 21:15:00 EST. <br />Sony's latest press release is likely to stoke the ire of Wii fans by including this chart, a not-entirely-objective breakdown of the <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com">PS3</a>, <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com">Xbox 360</a>, and Wii. Okay, so we understand it is Sony's <em>job</em> to sell PS3s (though the company <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/12/november-npd-double-megaton/">struggles</a> with that, bless it), but various truths are being rather severely bent here. We're sure you don't need us to point out <span style="font-style: italic;">where</span> facts are being stretched and contorted.<br /><br />Further on in the release, Sony declares that the Wii's "lack of enhanced features comes at the expense of a comprehensive entertainment solution." A "comprehensive entertainment system," Sony fails to add, that only a minority of console buyers have shown any interest in. Far be it from us to sound petty, but past the break we have three more suggestions for Sony's "Functionality" column.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/sony-compares-apples-and-oranges-calls-out-wiis-lack-of-featur/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony compares apples and oranges, calls out Wii's lack of features</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/sony-compares-apples-and-oranges-calls-out-wiis-lack-of-featur/">Sony compares apples and oranges, calls out Wii's lack of features</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Jan 2009 12:48:00 EST. SCEA has just sent out a press release detailing what readers of this blog already know. Although PS3 is an expensive machine, it's a better value than the other competing systems. In a press release called "Keeping Entertainment Simple," the company showed this chart showing all the things you get in the PS3 that you can't in other systems. Yes, it's a biased chart, but it's the kind of information that SCEA should spread in the first place. Imagine if they put this info in a retail store? Perhaps more consumers would think kindly of Sony's black box.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/07/playstation-press-release-breaks-down-the-real-price-of-consoles/">PlayStation press release breaks down the real price of consoles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Jan 2009 21:30:00 EST. You may or may not like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/12/play-on-wii-donkey-kong-has-new-stages-drastic-changes/">changes</a> that are coming for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/31/point-counterpoint-yea-or-nay-play-on-wii/">Play on Wii</a> release of <em>Donkey Kong Jungle Beat</em>, but we're willing to bet that you'll like at least one thing -- the game's updated look. While the changes aren't particularly obvious at a glance, when they're side-by-side with the originals, you can easily see the refinements and additions, which is why we've got a few comparisons here, just for you. You can even see some of the refinements in the tiny image above, like the scales, but if you want the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/play-on-wii-donkey-kong-jungle-beat-comparison/1191866/full/">full effect</a>, you're going to want to step into our gallery below.<br /><br /><br /><br />[New images via <a href="http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/124/124657/">Dengeki</a>; old via GameSpot]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/29/new-and-graphically-improved-donkey-kong-jungle-beat/">New and (graphically) improved Donkey Kong Jungle Beat</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 29 Nov 2008 14:00:00 EST. Lara Croft's latest handheld adventure looks, well, <em>dark</em>. Not necessarily in tone, but in color. As in, it's sometimes difficult to make out just what the hell is going on. If it's brown, does that make it next-gen? What's it mean if it's blurry?<br /><br />Does <em>Tomb Raider: Underworld</em> look better than the DS's last tomb raiding experience? The backgrounds have a little more definition, but that leads to the murky quality in the screens. In our gallery below, not only do we have screenshots from the new game, we've also put together a few comparison pieces for your perusal. Which one looks better? Of course, as long as <em>Tomb Raider: Underworld</em> is <em>playable</em>, it will probably <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/16/metareview-tomb-raider-legend/">trump</a> the DS version of <em>Legend</em>.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/20/tomb-raider-underworld-vs-legend/">Tomb Raider: Underworld vs. Legend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Aug 2008 19:38:00 EST. There's an old adage that goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." GameTrailers user <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/244701.html">WiiSixty</a> has compiled a video featuring segments of<em> Resident Evil 4</em> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Resident-Evil-5/">Resident Evil 5</a></em> gameplay to showcase the similarities between everything from reload animations to enemies spinning like a top from a well-placed bullet from both titles. The question lighting up message boards is whether or not <em>Resident Evil 5's</em> continuation of "the same thing" is well advised or not. Is it possible we're jumping to conclusions and calling the <em>Resident Evil 5</em> gameplay mechanics old because of the substantial changes <em>RE4</em> made to the series? Maybe with games like <em>Gears of War </em>and <em>Army of Two</em> borrowing those mechanics we're all a little burnt out on them. Honestly, it doesn't matter much to us. <em>Resident Evil 5</em> looks solid so far and with the addition of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/e308-resident-evil-5-online-co-op-confirmed-friday-the-13th-l/">online co-op play</a> we can't wait to check it out this March.<br /><br />Ordinarily we'd embed the video in this post but GameTrailers seems to be having some embedding issues. <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/244701.html">Check it out here</a>.<br /><br />[via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/29/video-of-resident-evil-4-versus-resident-evil-5-showcases-scary/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/29/comparison-vid-showcases-similarities-between-resident-evil-4-an/">Comparison vid showcases similarities between Resident Evil 4 and 5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Jul 2008 16:15:00 EST. We'd like to share the game comparison video one person <span style="font-style: italic;">dared</span> to create. One person who goes by the <span style="font-style: italic;">nom de keyboard </span>of "WiiSixty" on <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/244701.html">GameTrailers</a>, which is fitting since they've created a short subject film pitting <span style="font-style: italic;"></span><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-4"><span style="font-style: italic;">Resident Evil 4</span></a> for Wii against <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5"><span style="font-style: italic;">Resident Evil 5</span></a> for 360.<br /><br />The video runs on a bit, but it nevertheless does a solid job of comparing everything from weapon reload animations to door opening animations (helpfully shown above) to the way enemies react when shot. We'll give you one guess which game's prettier overall, but we think the gameplay similarities between the two might surprise you. Well, maybe they won't, since we've <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/17/joystiq-e3-hands-on-resident-evil-5/">already talked about</a> just how much <span style="font-style: italic;">won't </span>be changing from <span style="font-style: italic;">RE4</span> to <span style="font-style: italic;">RE5</span>.<br /><br />(<span style="font-weight: bold;">Note</span>: Looks like the embeddable video has caught a bad case of the T-virus; you'll have to hit up <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/244701.html">GameTrailers</a> to watch it.)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/29/video-of-resident-evil-4-versus-resident-evil-5-showcases-scary/">Resident Evil 4 vs. Resident Evil 5 vid showcases scary similarities</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Jul 2008 11:15:00 EST. There's a lot of speculation about <em>Resident Evil 5</em> coming to the Wii, especially after <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/23/rumor-resident-evil-5-rears-its-ugly-head-once-more/">a statement made by Simon Jeffery</a> added some fuel to the fire. Perhaps because of such rumors, or perhaps for fun, one fan decided to make a comparison between <em>Resident Evil 4</em> and what we've seen so far of <em>Resident Evil 5</em>.<br /><br />After watching the video, we don't see why the game <em>couldn't</em> come to the Wii. Granted, the graphics won't be as pretty, but everything else should translate simply enough. With that said, we wouldn't be surprised if Capcom one day ported the game, especially after announcing <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/25/dead-rising-compare-til-you-drop/">Dead Rising: Chop 'Til You Drop</a></em> for the Wii.<br /><br />Of course, <em>RE5 </em>still has a long way to go in development, so there maybe something else under the title's zombified sleeves that will end up surprising us.<br /><br />[Thanks, Adam!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/28/resident-evil-4-vs-resident-evil-5/">Resident Evil 4 vs. Resident Evil 5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Jul 2008 19:30:00 EST. One of the reasons that certain bloggers (namely, <span style="font-style: italic;">this</span> one) were so excited for the U.S. release of <span style="font-style: italic;">Space Invaders Extreme</span> in the first place was because its <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/02/18/space-invaders-extreme-downloadable-demo/">downloadable demo for the PSP</a> was nothing short of <span style="font-style: italic;">awesome</span>. You can imagine, then, how torn we were when it came to choosing between the DS and PSP versions of the game. We only figured that some of our readers were going through the same dilemma, and thus we ended up trying out both just so that <span style="font-style: italic;">you</span> don't have to.<br /><br />If you want to see how <span style="font-style: italic;">Space Invaders Extreme</span> DS and PSP stack up against each other, just click on past the break for a pretty chart and in-depth category breakdowns. <br /><br />

After last year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/19/au-revoir-santa-monica-e3-is-over-but-were-not-done-yet/">detour to Santa Monica</a>, E3 returned this year to its traditional home at the L.A. Convention Center. But the more things stay the same, the more they change, as they say (if they're a bit confused). Despite the return to the old location, much of this year's E3 had an empty, ghost town feeling when compared to E3s past. The general lack of participating <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/23/id-software-leaves-esa/">developers</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/01/activision-not-attending-e3-2008/">publishers</a>, combined with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/18/e3-returns-to-la-convention-center-next-july-remains-invite-onl/">strict, invite-only attendee list</a> combined to make a show that seemed incredibly small in the incredibly large convention center. To see just how small, check out our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-the-nand-now/">"E3, then and now" gallery</a>, which compare scenes from previous E3s to similar scenes from this year's show.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-the-nand-now/">E3, then and now</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-the-nand-now/#937630"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/e3thenandnow.intro_thumbnail.jpg" alt="The unbearable smallness of E3 2008, in pictures" title="The unbearable smallness of E3 2008, in pictures" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-the-nand-now/#936928"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/e304hi0180_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Then ..." title="Then ..." /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-the-nand-now/#936916"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/cimg2222_thumbnail.jpg" alt="... and Now" title="... and Now" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-the-nand-now/#936921"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/e304hi0024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Then ..." title="Then ..." /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-the-nand-now/#936913"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/cimg2231_thumbnail.jpg" alt="... and Now" title="... and Now" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/the-unbearable-smallness-of-e3-2008-in-pictures/">The unbearable smallness of E3 2008, in pictures</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jul 2008 22:30:00 EST. As one might expect, the DS title dwarfs the SNES game graphically, showing us <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/06/final-fantasy-iv-videos-bring-july-a-little-closer/">a much more alive game world</a> and bringing the events to life in better fashion. If you happen to also follow our shenanigans over at <a href="http://dsfanboy.com">DS Fanboy</a>, you might have noticed the <a href="http://dsfanboy.com/tag/yogathon">yogathon</a> we just wrapped up, courtesy of <em>Let's Yoga</em>, a DS yoga trainer. With the release of <a href="http://nintendowiifanboy.com/tag/wii-fit"><em>Wii Fit</em></a>, we've now got a great opportunity to compare two entirely different games that include yoga lessons. Five years ago, did you think you'd see <em>that</em> on a gaming site? Viable exergaming options -- we never thought we'd see the day. But how do the two titles stack up to one another? Check out our handy comparison chart, available after the break.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/23/wii-fit-vs-lets-yoga/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii Fit vs. Let's Yoga</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/23/wii-fit-vs-lets-yoga/">Wii Fit vs. Let's Yoga</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 May 2008 11:45:00 EST.
