Report: Level-5's other new 3DS jam is Ghost Watch

Youkai Watch, also known as Ghost Watch in North America, is coming to 3DS, according to the latest CoroCoro magazine, translated by Siliconera. The game was first announced by developer Level-5 one year ago at its Vision event.

Of course, until Level-5 confirms that the game even exists anymore, we're putting it in our box of rumors. We do know that Level-5's Liberation Maiden will be heading to the North American 3DS eShop October 25, however. We've embedded the original announcement trailer for Ghost Watch for your amusement above.

Pokemon Black and White starters revealed in full color

It's never too soon to start picking out your prospective team of Pokémon for the next iteration of the franchise -- even if it's still quite a ways away from being released. Of course, the most important decision on this subject is which of the three starter 'mons you'll choose. Thanks to an image published in latest issue of CoroCoro (via The Escapist), you can now choose between the (formerly silhouetted) Pokémon Black and White starters based on which one you think it the cutest -- which is really the most important metric, isn't it?

The three Pokémon pictured above reportedly have the Japanese monikers Tsutaja, Pokabu and Mijumaru (from left to right), though they'll probably be subject to change for the English-language versions of the game. CoroCoro also revealed the somewhat older-looking trainers featured in the game, which we've posted after the jump. We're not sure what their story is, but they need haircuts in a bad, bad way.

First Pokemon Black & White images revealed (in color)

While we were all hoping that the recently announced Pokémon Black and White would have an appropriate film noir aesthetic and monochromatic color palette, a few vividly colorful glimpses of the game have appeared in CoroCoro magazine (via Serebii.net). While it certainly looks a heck of a lot like previous DS-based iterations of the franchise, a few of the screens seem to change up the series' isometric camera angle. Will some creative camerawork and new pocket-sized monsters be enough to keep the franchise fresh? Only time will tell.

Who's that Pokemon? It's Zoroark!

The first new Pokémon being added to the next game has been revealed. The silhouette belongs to Zoroark, a new Dark-type Pokémon described as a "Monster Fox Pokémon." It evolves from the smaller and cuter, but evil, Zoroa. Scans from the latest issue of Corocoro Comic magazine show the critters in non-silhouetted form for the first time, eliciting many sighs of relief as it Zoroark is revealed not to be a werehog.

Not only will these two be featured in the new DS game (about which almost nothing else is known), Zoroark is the title character in the latest movie, Phantom Champion Zoroark.

Nintendo files US trademarks for Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver [update]

Update: We here at Joystiq are not perfect, and sometimes we're fooled. Sad to say, this has been one of those times, as some of the details you see around the net regarding Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver are false. Our good friend Serebii pointed this out to us, and we have removed the false information from this post. We apologize for the error, and are baking you a fresh batch of cookies right now to make up for it.

When Nintendo announced Pokémon Gold Heart and Soul Silver remakes, it was only a few days after that we caught a glimpse of some gameplay. Of course, the gameplay video didn't reveal anything on the game other than the ability to walk around, but we know trainers are still getting pumped for the remakes. Well, if you live in North America, prepare to be pumped out of your mind.

Nintendo is planning to bring both Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver your way, as some US trademarks Nintendo filed (courtesy of Siliconera) show. Sure, you probably had little doubt in your mind, considering how much Nintendo loves money, but we just thought you would like to know. Both Pokemon Heart Gold and Pokemon Soul Silver are listed, so turn your cap backwards and get ready to catch 'em all ... at an unconfirmed later date.

Pokemon to Explore the Sky in new Mystery Dungeon

The latest edition of CoroCoro is off the presses, and look: new Pokémans!

Okay, well maybe "new" is stretching it. The game you see above is Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky, a sequel to last year's respectable Explorers of Time/Explorers of Darkness duo. The screens in the scans posted by Gamekyo are teensy, so we're not sure you'll get much out of those, but there is confirmation on the five starter Pokémon: Vulpix, Riolu, Eevee, Shinx, and Phanpy.

CoroCoro states that Japan will get its hands on the Chunsoft-developed roguelike this spring. While we cross everything for a 2009 release in the west, hit up Gamekyo for the full scans, including some cute Pokémon art.

CoroCoro reveals more on upcoming Pokemon Platinum

The latest issue of CoroCoro Comics has some more information to lay down on the foundation already built by the mag. Aside from knowing that the game exists, as well as its Japanese release date, there's just not much we have to go on. Until now, that is.

Some scans of the latest issue (via The Tanooki) have released online, giving us a clearer picture of what's going down in this latest title. For one, the title will star two completely new trainers, as well as re-clothe Lucas and Dawn. There will also be a new area of the map unlocked, which is being labeled as "Torn World" right now.

Also of note, a certain Pokémon movie monster available to folks in Japan will be transferable to Platinum, also allowing you to capture Regirock, Regice, and Registeel in-game. To check out the rest of the scans, head on over.

Pokemon Platinum revealed, set for fall release in Japan

Pokéfanatics across the globe have been anxiously tied to their poké-related news sites over the past few weeks, attempting to prognosticate what gemstone/precious metal/color would serve as the title for the next installment in the beloved monster-enslaving series -- shortly after CoroCoro magazine dropped word of the upcoming Pokémon Platinum, the Sandshrew-swift Nintendo swooped in to confirm the title, and to reveal a fall release window for the game in Japan.

Following the pattern of pokéreleases thus far, it will serve as a companion to the two current-generation titles, Diamond and Pearl -- much like Yellow, Crystal, and Emerald did for their respective generations. That means we'll likely be treated to new sprites for many the monsters, and a few tweaks to the story, but not many new entries into the ol' Pokédex. Perhaps that expansion will come in the franchise's next generation, Pokémon Ununbium and Cadmium.

A first look at Lost in Blue

Some awesome ideas coupled with mediocre execution: that's the story of Lost in Blue so far. Hopefully the potential of the series will be realized now that Konami has shifted development from the DS to the Wii, and these scans, extracted from the pages of CoroCoro magazine, are a promising start.

If you've played any of the Lost in Blue games on the DS, much of what appears in these screens will look comfortingly familiar -- dislodging coconuts from trees, starting fires, cooking with rudimentary tools -- but there appears to be the odd new feature as well; for instance, we don't recall a dog being in any of the DS games (though feel free to correct us there). Rumor: Pokemans: Let Nintendo sell you them again

The latest issue of CoroCoro Comic has turned out to be a gold mine of Nintendo rumors, as a scan of the magazine has revealed another very believable rumor about a big Nintendo franchise. This time they're strongly implying that a new Pokémon game will come out this year, and that it'll probably be the third game in the Diamond and Pearl series.

Since, as the chart here indicates, every pair of Pokémon games are followed by one of these 'remakes' (except for FireRed and LeafGreen, which are themselves remakes), we find this rumor completely plausible. And Pokémon fans, who have been conditioned into a collecting mentality, will buy the game for a third time.

Limited-edition DSes spotted at Nintendo World Store

Flickr user anmghstnet photographed an excellent collection of special-edition DSes now on display at New York City's Nintendo World Store. We recognized most of them from imported bundles, like the Square-Enix handhelds and the SD Gundam G Generation Cross Drive DS, but there are a few we haven't seen since they were first announced, like the Momotaro Dentetsu and Pokemon Daisuki Club systems.

There are also some DSes we've never seen in the wild -- the Corocoro Dragon Comics-branded portable pictured above being a good example. The cheap-looking Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Kirby: Squeak Squad, and Wario: Master of Disguise systems? Those were special K-Zone editions given away by the magazine as prizes for past competitions. Rumor: Coro Coro magazine 'confirms' online Brawling

A Ruliweb poster reports that "Large scuffle [su] every [swi] [pu] compared to Japanese date of issue of [su] X. November 22 straight road decision. In compliance with a wye pie communication possibility! before the adult!"

Luckily, NeoGAFfer farnham can actually read either the Korean post or the issue of the Japanese magazine Coro Coro to which it refers, and he says that the post is about Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and that there's a confirmation of online battling somewhere in all those words and stuff. And even we can read the Japanese release date of November 22. That's pretty soon! Possibly even before the adult!

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl: Return of the Friend Codes

Japanese magazine Corocoro has several scans that reveal a plethora of information regarding the upcoming Pokemon incarnations Diamond and Pearl. While plenty of ~~trivial~~ ~~boring~~ ~~inconsequential~~ details were given about specific Pokemon and moves, the highlights are as follows:

The tentative Japanese release date for both games is September 28th, 2006.
The new legendary (read: boxart worthy) Pokemon are Diaruga (Diamond Version), who controls time, and Parukia (Pearl Version), who controls space.
The antagonists are known as Team Galaxy, who will be featured in Pokemon Ranger as well.
In battles, the bottom screen will be used for menus and the like. Easy viewing of other Pokemon's status?
WiFi features will be in full force, but they utilize...gulp...the dreaded Friend Code system.

That's right, folks, Friend Codes are back. Nintendo seems unwilling to let go of this rather archaic system, though it might be slightly more excused in the Pokemon universe...a grand list of fifty thousand players offering and looking for certain Pokemon types might make things a bit too easy. The ability to pick up a quick match with a stranger, however, would not be unwelcome...
