Minecraft forum user Rumsey's chosen path is to <a href="http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/997352-crafting-azeroth/">recreate the entire <em>World of Warcraft</em></a> inside the indie sandbox hit, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/minecraft"><em>Minecraft</em></a>. And as you can see above, he's doing pretty well -- the entire continent of Kalimdor (including the new zones from the <em>Cataclysm </em>expansion) is almost done, and he's well on his way to doing the rest, including all of the instances and dungeons.<br /><br />Rumsey came up with some custom software to put it all together, which basically translates the current maps of <em>WoW</em> over to the measurements of <em>Minecraft</em> blocks. Rumsey is trying to keep <em>Minecraft</em>'s "1 yard to 1 block" ratio, though that means he has to balance <em>WoW</em>'s detail with <em>Minecraft</em>'s inherent blockiness (and <em>Minecraft</em>'s height limit of 128 blocks has required mods to make some of <em>WoW</em>'s tallest features work). Still, what's been created so far is certainly recognizable as Azeroth.<br /><br />Now if we can only get <em>StarCraft</em>, <em>Crafting Mama</em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/wanted-for-breaking-the-law-vogsters-crimecraft/">CrimeCraft</a></em>, <a href="http://armorgames.com/play/1716/gemcraft"><em>GemCraft</em></a>, and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kraft_Dinner">macaroni and cheese</a> in this project somehow.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/08/the-entire-world-of-warcraft-being-recreated-with-minecraft-bloc/">The entire World of Warcraft being recreated with Minecraft blocks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Feb 2012 20:08:00 EST. We've grown quite attached to the Personality Cores we've met in our jaunts through Aperture Science, and leaving the adorable AIs in the gameworld has always been hard for us. You too? Cheer up! Now you can bring them with you, thanks to robot engineer Chris Myles.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/16/portable-portal-2-personality-cores-are-ready-for-adventure/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Portable Portal 2 Personality Cores are ready for adventure</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/16/portable-portal-2-personality-cores-are-ready-for-adventure/">Portable Portal 2 Personality Cores are ready for adventure</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 May 2011 22:30:00 EST. Are you looking for a quick-and-easy storage solution for the adventure-ready knick-knacks you've got laying around the house? Oh, sure, you could probably just tuck that slingshot, Deku stick and empty bottle into any old Rubbermaid tub, but if you're looking for a more authentic way to put things into other things you need a real-life <em>Legend of Zelda</em> treasure chest, complete with brief musical interlude. (You know <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VRr9NG7RE0">the one</a>.)<br />
<br />
You can follow the instructions posted on <a href="http://www.instructables.com/id/Legend-of-Zelda-Treasure-chest-with-sound/">Instructables</a> to make your own Hylian lockbox, and check out the video after the jump to see (and hear!) it in action. Just be sure that you make everything to scale -- if you make the chest too large, you're going to have to put something <em>way more awesome</em> in it.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/11/protect-your-slingshots-with-an-authentic-zelda-treasure-chest/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Protect your slingshots with an authentic Zelda treasure chest (with sound!)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/11/protect-your-slingshots-with-an-authentic-zelda-treasure-chest/">Protect your slingshots with an authentic Zelda treasure chest (with sound!)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 11 Apr 2011 18:00:00 EST. <div align="left"><br />Atlanta knitter Cassie (that'll be her boyfriend, Jason, pictured) is currently slaving away on what is likely to be <em>the greatest scarf of all time</em> -- a wool-based reproduction of the iconic World 1-1 from <em>Super Mario Bros</em>.<br /><br />Yep, you read that right -- every jump, bush, coin, Goomba, pipe (though not the sewer sections, understandably), item box, and cloud, accurately rendered in yarn. According to the determined Cassie, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/crochet-out-with-little-mac-and-mike-tyson/">scarf</a> is currently around one-third complete, and is already at ten feet, meaning the finished article will come in at around thirty feet in length. A scarf fit for giants! It's times like these that we wish we had $250 to burn on a quilt.<br /><br />Even if we can't buy this, though, we can sure admire it (along with many <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/everything-you-wanted-to-know-about-space-invaders-extreme-but-w/">other <span style="font-style: italic;">Space Invaders</span></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/19/space-invaders-on-your-neck-ears-and-waist/">themed items</a>). The quilt might not have the same explosive color as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/24/ds-fanboy-review-space-invaders-extreme/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Space Invaders Extreme</span></a>, but it sure makes the classic icons look all warm and cozy. Link looks awfully adorable in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amigurumi">amigurumi</a> form, so we're grateful to Artoo1121 and her boyfriend for bringing such a cute craft into the world. What really gets us, though, are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/linkdollstuff_cs_0714.jpg">all the mini accessories</a> that come along with this crocheted wonder, like the Hylian Shield, the Master Sword, the Lon Lon Milk, and (last but not least) the ocarina. <br /><br />Artoo1121 is also working on a Zelda to match up with Link, which will be impressive if it even comes out half as nice. You can also check out <a href="http://flickr.com/photos/geekcentralstation/">her Flickr set here</a> to see more pictures of this craft if you happen to like it as much as we do.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2008/07/14/link-knit-amigurumi-cuter-than-kittens/">Technabob</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/link-makes-an-epically-cute-craft/">Link makes an epically cute craft</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Jul 2008 23:00:00 EST. When creativity and originality meet cuteness, you know you have a great DS case on your hands. Take this hungry-looking fleece and felt DS cover, for instance. If you're going to be carrying around your DS and making sure it's protected, you might as well do it with style.<br /><br />Made-to-order by <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=93239">Etsy craftster Kfarrell</a>, you can pick whatever fabric and pompom colors your little heart desires (as long as she carries them, of course). The case will set you back $20, but for a handmade craft (and a cool one at that), we think the price is pretty reasonable.<br /><br />Hit up the gallery below to see two different versions of this case monster -- maybe that will help you come up with some interesting color schemes of your own, if you happen to find this as awesomely adorable as we do.<br /><br />Nom nom nom.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/08/this-case-is-hungry-for-handhelds/">This case is hungry for handhelds</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 Jul 2008 22:00:00 EST. <div align="left"><br />It's official: not only is Wii Fanboy the web's leading resource for all things Wii, we're also the number one online source of <em>Zelda bedding</em>. This is the third <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/you-got-the-quilt-of-power/"><em>Zelda</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/11/its-dangerous-to-go-alone-take-this-quilt/">quilt</a> we've featured on the site, and it also happens to be the cheapest so far -- a mere $135 will buy you this queen-sized duvet, as stitched from 2" squares of <strike>real Octorok skin</strike> cotton. For an extra $30, you can even have matching pillowcases: just make sure you pack it all away when any would-be lovers arrive in your room after a particularly successful first date.<br /><br />If you fancy spending $165 on some of the most awesome bedding in the universe, contact Etsy user <a href="http://www.etsy.com/profile.php?user_id=5219875">punzie</a> and show her the color of your money. Explore past the break for a close-up of the quilt.<br /><br />Read: <a href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vl_other_1&amp;listing_id=13034011">The Quilt of Courage</a><br />Read: <a href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=cat2_galley_5&amp;listing_id=13086606">The Pillows of Wisdom</a><br /></div>

<br />We're not exactly sure where each of you would place cushions on a list of life's essentials -- they're right next to DS games <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/18/ubisoft-trademarkz-more-petz/">ending with 'z'</a> on <span style="font-style: italic;">our</span> list -- but if you are a lover of cushions (and some of us <span style="font-style: italic;">live</span> with such people), you may as well be a lover of totally awesome cushions.<br /><br />That's where Etsy member <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5219875">punzie</a> can help out, because she's crafted a (currently very small) range of $20 Nintendo cushions, including the charming teal Blooper design you see above. While there's only three to choose from right now, she does take requests -- we're half-thinking about asking for a Kuribo's Shoe cushion to call our own. Sit yourself down in your <span style="font-style: italic;">cold, hard, unpadded</span> chair and hit the break for a couple more examples of her work.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/cozy-up-with-blooper/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Cozy up with Blooper</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/cozy-up-with-blooper/">Cozy up with Blooper</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Apr 2008 20:00:00 EST. The staff at DS Fanboy normally goes by the mantra, "Those who can't craft, blog," but apparently that's not always the case. Every week over at <a href="http://www.gamertell.com/gaming/comment/the-world-ends-with-you-samba-pig-cross-stitch/">GamerTell</a>, blogger Jenni Lada makes a game-related cross stitch based on images from various sprite databases. No one loves <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/craft">video game crafts</a> more than we do, so you can bet we'd be all over these cute works <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/show-and-tell-a-stitch-in-time/">once they came to our attention</a>. <br /><br />This week's stitch is an enemy from Square Enix's recently<em> </em>released game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/22/the-game-begins-with-this-cutscene/"><em>The World Ends With You</em></a>. Called Samba Pigs, these little oinkers are apparently tough to kill since they're always trying to escape. When you do nab them, though, they drop some worthwhile badges.<br /><br />Since <em>The World Ends With You</em> is on our "do want" list, we couldn't help but admire the work and talent that went into this little craft (although it probably won't come as a surprise to you that this blogger's <a href="http://www.gamertell.com/gaming/comment/fire-emblem-cross-stitch-featuring-nils-and-ninian/">favorite of the bunch</a> is <em>Fire Emblem</em> themed). Next week Jenni tackles two Naruto sprites from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/29/jump-ultimate-stars-imported-reviewed/"><em>Jump Ultimate Stars</em></a> (which doesn't sound like an enviable task), so if you're a fan of the orange ninja make sure to check back there.<br /><br />

You probably won't be seeing this beauty in any churches, but this stained-glass Mega Man is all kinds of awesome. Not only is it completely gorgeous, as stained glass usually is, but it's a creative way of pixelating the Blue Bomber. Without much more gushing, we'll just acknowledge that this was a great idea, with great execution.<br /><br />If you visit <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/garyandliz/sets/72157603800105693/">Gary in Cleveland's flickr</a> account, you can also get a glimpse into how the stained-glass making process works. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=40717">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/19/dont-throw-a-rock-at-this-glass-man/">Don't throw a Rock at this glass, Man</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 19 Apr 2008 19:30:00 EST. We like this new trend of people crafting game-related afghans. First it was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/18/who-says-tetris-cant-keep-you-warm-at-night/">with <em>Tetris</em></a>, and now with a scene depicting one of our favorite plumbers (Mario, obviously). This particular blanket was made by <a href="http://www.thomcatdesigns.com/">ThomcatDesigns</a>, who have earned our complete respect for their (his? her?) mad crafting skills. The detail in this makes it look like it came right out of one of our favorite NES classics.<br /><br />Check the gallery to see the chronological progression of the afghan as it was created. It's pretty amazing to watch it turn from a mess of yarn into a masterpiece.<br /><br /><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2008/04/13/super-mario-afghan-is-super-special/">Technabob</a>; pictures via <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/thomcatdesigns/">thomcatdesgins' Flickr account</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/15/super-mario-afghan/">Super Mario Afghan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Apr 2008 20:00:00 EST. Since we're unabashed game enthusiasts, we appreciate any opportunity to combine our love for modern day gaming with our nostalgia for gaming of the past. That's why we find these DS covers to be absolutely darling. The Game Boy cover makes more sense to have, since the system belongs in the same family tree as Nintendo's dual-screened handheld. Yet, the NES controller is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ds+nes+controller+case/">a perfect shape</a> for a DS pouch -- and who doesn't love a NES controller? -- so that works, too.<br /><br />Should you like these as much as we do, you can check them out at Janis13's <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5319847">Etsy store</a>, along with some other DS cases.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2008/04/10/nes-controller-gameboy-swallow-nintendo-ds-lite/">Technabob</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/rest-your-ds-in-these-oldschool-pouches/">Rest your DS in these oldschool pouches</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Apr 2008 22:30:00 EST. Many of you had some strong opinion's regarding TheVintageDoctor's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/we-never-thought-mario-could-be-so-sexy/">Mario corset</a>, so we only found it fitting to tell you about her new <em>Zelda</em>-related fashion item. <br /><br />This corset is very similar to the last one, only featuring Link instead of the portly plumber. Unfortunately, the image used on the corset almost looks like it could be a Link "upskirt" pic, but we're still impressed by this outfit nonetheless. <br /><br />Also, as of writing this, it's still in stock. So, you can wear (or have your girlfriend wear) Link's backside for $99.98 -- expensive, but a fair price for all the work that probably went into this.<br /><br /><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=39125">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/31/link-gets-a-corset-too/">Link gets a corset, too</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 31 Mar 2008 21:00:00 EST. Do you love your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/game-boy/">Game Boy</a> so much that you just want to hug it to death? Then perhaps instead of a game system, you should have a plushie. These cute little handheld dolls also have sweet little facial expressions, making them all the more lovable.<br /><br />The best thing about <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=41407">KungFuCowgirl's</a> Etsy creations is that they're not ridiculously overpriced. They only cost $14 a pop, which is very reasonable for something handmade. We love craftsters, but we always appreciate them more when they don't exploit our gaming love for everything it's worth.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2008/03/10/gameboy-plush-toys-have-got-personality/">Technabob</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/11/these-game-boy-plushies-smile-back-at-you/">These Game Boy plushies smile back at you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Mar 2008 22:30:00 EST. If seeing him <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/16/vc-monday-madness-finally-we-get-punch-out/">on your virtual console</a> isn't enough, though, how about seeing him around your neck in the winter? You may have also noticed that this scarf has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/25/what-is-mike-tyson-like-during-brunch/">Mike Tyson's</a> big mug on it, so you won't have to settle for Mr. Dream. <br /><br />Realistically, we know you won't buy this -- after all, the scarf is a whopping $175 on <a href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9835968">Etsy</a>. Still, we admire the craftsmanship that went into Beatboxtaun's crocheting, and we hope you do, too. We only wish we had such skills ourselves, so that we didn't have to drool over these kinds of things on Etsy all the time.<br /><br />In our opinion, this definitely beats out the <a href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9835968"><em>Punch-Out</em> mat</a> for the best craft featuring Little Mac (that we know of).<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2008/02/26/mike-tysons-punch-out-scarf-is-a-real-tko/">Technabob</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/crochet-out-with-little-mac-and-mike-tyson/">Crochet-Out!! with Little Mac and Mike Tyson</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Feb 2008 22:31:00 EST. <br />As we have seen on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/11/its-dangerous-to-go-alone-take-this-quilt/">previous</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/you-got-the-quilt-of-power/">occasions</a>, patchwork quilts are <em>perfect</em> for recreating scenes from NES-era games. However, the Mario depicted on this quilt is a little more modern, and the results are no less spectacular.<br /><br />Crafted by the wife of BoingBoing reader Brian (a.k.a <a href="http://s56.photobucket.com/albums/g168/bishmasterb/Mario%20Quilt/">bishmasterb</a>), this work of art uses sixteen types of fabric, and is 36 columns by 44 rows tall (six feet by eight feet). Oh, and it's hung on that wall for the last <em>five years</em>, hidden from an appreciative world! For the record, we fully support the decision to show it off on its own wall. You can't actually <em>use</em> things that are this beautiful. Did you <em>know</em> that there are some rogue Moblins in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zelda">Hyrule</a>, just hanging out inside sealed caves waiting to give some dude rupees? This bizarre fixation with enclosure and charity is <em>supposed</em> to be a secret to everybody, but now Etsy's slothbot has let the <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">cat out of the bag</span> Moblin out of the cave. Way to go, slothbot.<br /><br />In other crafting news, Kotaku reader Aaron revealed not so much of a secret as a new discovery: that a <a href="http://kotaku.com/353136/mario-goes-tabletop">Mario mosaic table</a> is probably the best thing <em>ever</em> and it is now probably impossible for the world to continue existing without one. Check after the break for the most exciting <em>table picture</em> ever.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/well-now-the-secrets-totally-ruined/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Well, now the secret's totally ruined</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/well-now-the-secrets-totally-ruined/">Well, now the secret's totally ruined</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Feb 2008 22:30:00 EST. Every week it seems like we show you some sort of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/space-invaders/"><em>Space Invaders</em></a> or <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pac-man">Pac-Man</a> </em>themed memorabilia. We don't know why it's so hard to let go of these characters from the arcade days of yore, but it is -- so we won't.<br /><br />Neither will crafter Pardalote, who makes adorable beaded <em>Invaders</em> jewelry like the earrings shown above. The best news is, the earrings and necklaces are reasonably priced, especially for handmade items. You can see for yourself at the Australian's Etsy store <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5036818">here</a>.<br /><br />Do any of you geekettes out there like these, too? Or is this blogger just blinded by her love for all things <em>Space Invaders</em>?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2008/01/24/space-invaders-land-on-your-ears-and-neck/">Technabob</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/25/space-invaders-on-our-ears-and-necks/">Space Invaders on our ears and necks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 18:00:00 EST. We usually don't feel warm and fuzzy when thinking about piranha plants, but we suppose it can't be helped when one actually<span style="font-style: italic;"> is</span> warm and fuzzy. Still, years of training (read: playing <span style="font-style: italic;">Mario</span> games) have conditioned us to keep our fingers away from these beasts, even if they <span style="font-style: italic;">look</span> harmless. <br /><br />This precious pincushion was made by a Toronto artist named FoulFowl, and was wet and needle felted. Since we're domestically challenged, we're not exactly sure what that entails, but it <span style="font-style: italic;">sounds</span> impressive -- at least, we hope so, since the craft is set at $25.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2008/01/14/mario-piranha-plant-is-soft-fuzzy-but-still-has-teeth/">Technabob</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/15/this-piranha-plant-wont-bite-you/">This piranha plant won't bite you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Jan 2008 22:33:00 EST. <br /><em>Look</em>, it's all well and good stomping off to rescue princesses and reassemble <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/triforce">golden triangular relics</a>, but at least remember that it's a <em>cold, unforgiving world</em> out there, and you'll need something warm to wrap around yourself at some point. As <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/11/its-dangerous-to-go-alone-take-this-quilt/">the only other Zelda quilt</a> we've posted about was never put up for sale, this one should do the trick, even if it is ... <em>$475</em>?! We advise chopping grass to raise the required funds.<br /><br />Take a closer look at this work of art after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/you-got-the-quilt-of-power/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>You got The Quilt of Power!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/you-got-the-quilt-of-power/">You got The Quilt of Power!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Jan 2008 19:00:00 EST. <br />Christina Cary, the same gal who taught us <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/17/pants-revisited/">how to make a DS cart caddy out of an old pair of pants</a>, has expanded on her portfolio of handheld-related crafts with this strawberry-colored fold-up pouch. In addition to sewing in fitted belts for a DS Lite system and four games, she has included pockets for lip gloss tubes, compact mirrors, or anything else you might want to pack along with your portable!<br /><br />Christina also made a matching purse with the same patterned material she used for the pouch's exterior. You can see the bag and a shot of the homemade case rolled up after the break. <br />To give these green and gold Triforce cases their shiny look, Craftster Renee Parrill used Zodiac naugahyde, or glitter-patterned pleather. The pouches are just big enough to encase a Nintendo DS, keeping their contents confined with a snap closure. They would match perfectly with your green cap and adventuring outfit! Also, you could probably stuff a fairy into one if you ever run out of empty bottles. <br /><br />[Thanks, Alexis!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/08/hold-these-shiny-cases-above-your-head/">Hold these shiny cases above your head</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 Jan 2008 12:00:00 EST. <br />When we usually see balloons, we get an urge to kick them. Or squeeze them. Or rub them on our clothes to create static and annoy other people. Or pop them. But that's not the case with these superb examples of balloon art. When we see these, we want to build a special cabinet to display them in, and pray that they <span style="font-style: italic;">never, ever, ever</span> deflate.<br /><br />They're the work of gifted Flickr user TwystNeko, who seems to be quite the expert at manipulating rubber and air. As well as this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mario">Mario</a>, s/he's fashioned other Nintendo-themed balloon masterpieces, which you can see after the post break, including an <span style="font-style: italic;">a-maz-ing</span> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/megaman">Mega Man</a>.<a title="Chloroprene" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chloroprene"><br /></a><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/08/keep-sharp-objects-away-from-this-nintendo-balloon-art/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Keep sharp objects away from this Nintendo balloon art</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/08/keep-sharp-objects-away-from-this-nintendo-balloon-art/">Keep sharp objects away from this Nintendo balloon art</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 Jan 2008 10:30:00 EST. Check out this awesome rabbid plush, made by reader Michael Karpinski. As big fans of the rabbids (even if we don't always love <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rayman-raving-rabbids-2/">the games</a>), we were excited to see such an awesomely made plushie doll in their likeness. <br /><br />What we love even more is this picture of a cat hugging the rabbid, not only because we love cute or funny cat pictures (which we do), but because it makes the expression on the plush's face all the more fitting.<br /><br />To see the full greatness of this plush when it's not obscured by cat arms, make sure to check after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/04/bunny-fact-35-rabbids-dont-like-cats/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bunny fact #35: Rabbids don't like cats</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/04/bunny-fact-35-rabbids-dont-like-cats/">Bunny fact #35: Rabbids don't like cats</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Jan 2008 12:00:00 EST. It's amazing what can be done with just buttons, ribbons, a cute print, and a sewing machine! Silje picked up the owl fabric from an <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5138364">Etsy shop</a> with dozens of similarly playful patterns, if you're interested in tackling a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/case">case project</a> of your own.<br /><br />The back of the pouch has three cart slots that secure their contents with a button and ribbon system similar to the enclosure on the front. Read this guide from DIYLife's Victor Agreda before you attempt to fashion teensy Wiimotes out of the foamy modeling compound. Or you can just look at the pictures of his charmingly homemade, fun-size Wii controllers, embellished with markers. Victor used these to add cute touches to his Christmas gifts, but you are, of course, free to do what you like, from displaying them, to, uh ... a second use. <br /><br />One of our favorite things about the Internet is that there exist so many detailed guides to <em>extremely</em> specific things. If you know someone who recently experienced the loss of an Xbox 360, show some support by sending a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rrod">Red Ring of Death</a> condolence card. Created by Etsy user BSAngel, the card has the dreaded red ring design on the front, made from red crystals adhered by industrial strength glue. The card says inside: "May this card help console you during this difficult time. I am very sorry for your loss." Get it? Console and console -- it's a heteronym.<br /><br />The card is <a href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=7341845">$4 plus shipping</a> and because it's handcrafted we're thinking not too many are available. Thankfully, the card seems simple enough to make with just a quick trip to your local crafts store. We actually think Microsoft should buy this concept off of BSAngel (she definitely deserves to be compensated for the idea) and send a card to every person who's gotten the RRoD (they have all the addresses). It would actually be a really nice PR gesture. If Nintendo can spend <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/02/wiimote-jackets-to-cost-nintendo-18m/">$18 million</a> on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/11/joystiq-hands-on-wiimote-jacket/">Wii prophylactics</a>, the least Microsoft can do is send out some cheeky cards of apology.<br /><br />[Thanks Paul, Via <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2007/10/16/friends-xbox-360-died-send-your-condolences/">Technabob</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/16/red-ring-of-death-condolence-cards/">Red Ring of Death condolence cards</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Oct 2007 14:57:00 EST. Fed up with screen protectors? Scared that you'll eventually crack your system's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hinge">hinge</a>? Looking to replace the DS Lite you threw against the wall after your girlfriend <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2007/08/felt-pink-ds-lite-2-dsf.jpg">dumped you via <span style="font-style: italic;">PictoChat</span></a>. Seriously, why didn't she just tell you to your face? She was only a few feet away when she did it!<br /><br />This latest hardware revision for the Nintendo DS, Felt Pink, makes those issues things of the past; the new design is even lighter and has a softer D-pad! Carol Esther, the craftster behind this limited edition portable, is willing to part with it for only fifteen dollars! Head past the post break for a photo of the handheld with its lid pulled back.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/30/nintendo-ds-lite-felt-pink-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nintendo DS Lite, Felt Pink edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/30/nintendo-ds-lite-felt-pink-edition/">Nintendo DS Lite, Felt Pink edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 30 Aug 2007 13:50:00 EST. <br />Inspired by Red Maloo's <a href="http://www.semsons.com/lawrbyredma12.html">laptop sleeves</a>, Alfine set out to create her own folding <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/case">case</a> for her Onyx DS Lite. The padded pouch's flaps lovingly embrace the portable, locking together with velcro and protecting its contents from the random items she keeps in her bag. Taking the DS out is as easy as pulling back the case's arms. Its plus-sign shape also gets bonus points for resembling a plump D-pad.<br /><br />We seem to find new ways to house our favorite handheld almost everyday; it's really amazing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/04/finally-a-use-for-pants/">how</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/11/keep-you-ds-clean-while-you-eat-dinner/">creative</a> people have been with their designs. What crazy idea will the craftsters out there come up with next? <br />20-year-old craftster Tiffany indulged her boyfriend's love of sand and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Mario/">Mario</a> by joining the two with a themed zen garden. Since this will be a birthday present, she took extra care to decorate the lid with wood cut-outs that she painted and glued atop one another for a "3D look." If her beau doesn't run wildly around the room for 15 seconds after unwrapping this, knocking over everything in his path while sounding out "Starman" music, we'll be disappointed.<br /><br />Opening the box reveals Mario and friends, as well as a playground of sand to rake patterns into. Tiffany plans to eventually add blocks painted with question marks and possibly other elements. Might we suggest a miniature green boot? Enjoy your fleeting invincibility and somersault past the post break for more photos.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/13/zen-and-the-art-of-mushroom-maintenance/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zen and the Art of Mushroom Maintenance</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/13/zen-and-the-art-of-mushroom-maintenance/">Zen and the Art of Mushroom Maintenance</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 Aug 2007 12:10:00 EST. We're slowly gathering entries for our yet-to-be-announced <em>Phoenix Wright</em> Shirt Makers' Club. These elite <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/crafts">crafters </a>have decided to express their fandom for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Capcom/">Capcom</a>'s graphic <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/adventure/">adventure</a> series and its characters in the most reverent way they know: by giving Phoenix Wright a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/02/diy-make-your-own-phoenix-wright-shirt/">place of honor</a> on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/11/yet-another-phoenix-wright-shirt-we-want/">front of a t-shirt</a>. <br /><br />The latest, from reader Maxy, goes beyond the limitations of home crafting. Maxy's sister has access to professional apparel-printing machinery at a uniform company, and transferred this iconic image of Phoenix on what looks like a 3/4 sleeve baseball shirt. Maya Fey, as pictured on the <a href="http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/NTR-P-AGYJ-N.html"><em>Gyakuten Saiban </em>boxart</a>, appears on the back. It's kind of unfair that we can't follow Maxy's example and make one of these! It may be unfair enough to warrant an OBJECTION! <br /><br />No, it's just kind of unfair.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/17/more-fan-created-phoenix-wright-ace-apparel/">More fan-created Phoenix Wright: Ace Apparel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Jul 2007 11:50:00 EST. The guy's camera must have been made out of paper itself-- or maybe it was a camera-shaped cake that could only take real pictures by a freak accident. Alternately, it could have been a cell phone.<br /><br />But even in low detail, you get the idea. A <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/craft">crafter</a> named Patrick made a tiny <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/papercraft">papercraft</a> Wii and Wiimote that any strong waggle could blow away. It would make a nice companion piece to that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/07/playing-wii-on-a-1-5-inch-set/">teensy TV</a> from earlier this year. Now if only we could get the template, so we could amass an army of non-functioning Mini-Wiis.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://com4.runboard.com/btoysandfanart.f1.t42">Paper Art Gadgets</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/05/papercraft-wii-possibly-photographed-with-papercraft-camera/">Papercraft Wii, possibly photographed with papercraft camera</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Jul 2007 15:00:00 EST.
