Two issues have come up with the new 3DS -- one kind of serious, and one kind of <em>not</em>. <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=425084&amp;page=27">NeoGAF</a> <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=26743219&amp;postcount=1312">users</a> and a <a href="http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=154214">GoNintendo post</a>, among others, document a periodic error screen that appears during gameplay, which requires the system to be shut off and turned back on in order to get back to playing. It seems to be most commonly associated with <em>Super Monkey Ball 3D</em> and <em>Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars</em>.<br />
<br />
Nintendo of Europe issued a statement to <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-03-28-nintendo-comments-on-3ds-error-screen">Eurogamer</a> suggesting that this issue could be fixed by downloading the latest firmware. If that doesn't fix the issue, the company recommends users "contact their local Nintendo Customer Service centre to investigate the problem further."<br />
<br />
Some <a href="http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/997614-3ds/58599145">users</a> are also reporting an excessively loose hinge, causing the top half of the system to wobble during play. "The hinge i thought was OK," reports <a href="http://www.3dsbuzz.com/3ds-forum/nintendo-3ds-hardware-10/how-many-you-have-wobbly-hinges-1915/">3DSBuzz</a> forum user Suspiria, "but throughout the day it has got worse and worse." Nintendo acknowledges the possibility of such an issue on its <a href="http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/3ds/en_na/ts_system.jsp">support site</a>, advising those who suffer from it to send the system in for repairs. We're contacting Nintendo about both issues, and will let you know what shakes out. Hopefully, it's not the top of a 3DS.<br />
<br />
[Thanks, Don]<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Nintendo sent Joystiq a statement asserting that "The number of calls and emails received by our customer support center is well below the rate experienced during past hardware launches, and there are no widespread issues." Find the full statement after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/29/users-report-3ds-crashes-loose-hinges/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Users report 3DS crashes, loose hinges</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/29/users-report-3ds-crashes-loose-hinges/">Users report 3DS crashes, loose hinges</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Mar 2011 12:30:00 EST. Treyarch recently gave its blockbuster shooter <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-black-ops"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops</em></a> its biggest booster shot to date on Xbox 360 and PS3, adding some neat new functionality while initiating some oft-requested server stability fixes and various gameplay tweaks. <a href="http://www.callofduty.com/intel/426?path=intel/426">The biggest changes</a> include: the addition of over 400 new Contracts (perfect for folks who are still on that <em>paper chase</em>); the new option to play offline with AI practice dummies; split-screen multiplayer; and a new "Dolly Cam" for the game's Theater mode, giving machinma-makers a bit more cinematographic flexibility.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, not every player seems to be a fan of the update so far -- <a href="http://www.blackopsforum.com/showthread.php?t=15876">a growing thread</a> on the game's official forums is filled with complaints from PS3 owners who say the patch has worsened freezing, crashing and other connectivity issues that have plagued their console's version of the game since launch. Treyarch <a href="http://www.callofduty.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=72&amp;t=313365">has stated</a> that it's constantly working on fixes for the game, so if you're suffering from the PS3 networking blues, you might want to add your voice to the pile. For now, check out the full, super esoteric list of changes from the new patch posted after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/15/call-of-duty-black-ops-gets-major-patch-ps3-gamers-suffer-conn/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Call of Duty: Black Ops gets major patch, PS3 gamers suffer connection issues</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/15/call-of-duty-black-ops-gets-major-patch-ps3-gamers-suffer-conn/">Call of Duty: Black Ops gets major patch, PS3 gamers suffer connection issues</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Dec 2010 12:20:00 EST. We think it's great when video games make stabs at humor with a timely pop culture reference or pithy back-and-forths between its characters. However, the <em>Skate</em> franchise has always had its finger on a direct line to our funny bone with its "Hall of Meat" mode, in which skaters hurt themselves in the most unimaginably hilarious ways possible. Judging by the trailer above, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/skate-3"><em>Skate 3</em></a> will further increase the game's capacity for <em>laughing-out-loudz</em> by adding a few more aerial maneuvers and allowing your characters to push themselves off the ground post-crash. <br />
<br />
The developers have also refined the "jump off a building and judo kick an unaware pedestrian on the street below" mechanic, which might just be our favorite feature in any game ever, ever released.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/13/skate-3-hall-of-meat-trailer-understands-comedy/">Skate 3 'Hall of Meat' trailer understands comedy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Apr 2010 17:10:00 EST. We may have to wait until March 30 for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2">Modern Warfare 2's</a></em> first DLC, the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/stimulus-package">Stimulus Package</a>," but thanks to an <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/0ccf0001-0000-4000-8000-000041560817?cid=SLink">Xbox Live Marketplace listing</a> for the map pack, we aren't in the dark anymore as to its contents. The blurb reveals the pack will contain "5 additional action-packed maps," including three all new ones ("Bailout, Storm, and Salvage"), as well as two remakes from <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-4-modern-warfare">Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare</a></em> ("Crash" and "Overgrown"). <br />
<br />
"Bailout" is said to be "a multi-layered apartment complex," while "Storm" is described as "an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery," and "Salvage" is "a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars." Presumably, if you're reading about the details of unreleased a <em>MW2</em> map pack, you already knew that "Crash" is a "war-torn urban environment" and "Overgrown" is set in a large dry creek. No pricing is set, unfortunately, though you can ogle the XBLM listing for now if it makes you feel any better (though we wouldn't suggest it).<br />
<br />
[Update: Clarified Stimulus Package DLC <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/09/first-modern-warfare-2-map-pack-coming-to-xbox-live-on-march-30/">date of release</a>.]<br />

Earlier today, our tips inbox and <a href="http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4721051016/m/7481010838/p/1">the official <em>Assassin</em><em>'s Creed 2</em> forum</a> were set ablaze by incensed owners of the PC version of the aforementioned Italian revenge epic. According to numerous reports from prospective players of the game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ubisoft,drm">Ubisoft's DRM authentification</a> servers have crashed, forcing some players to suffer lengthy login periods when booting up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2"><em>Assassin's Creed 2</em></a>, and locking some folks out of the game entirely.<br />
<br />
A <a href="http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4721051016/m/7481010838?r=6531081838#6531081838">Ubisoft representative responded</a> to a particularly rage-filled forum thread, stating "clearly the extended downtime and lengthy login issues are unacceptable, particularly as I've been told these servers are constantly monitored." The representative added "I'll do what I can to get more information on what the issue is here first thing tomorrow and push for a resolution and assurance this won't happen in the future." We've got a really great suggestion for how to make such an assurance: Find a less <em>abominable</em> DRM policy.<br />
<br />

<span style="float: right; margin-bottom: 16px; margin-left: 4px;"><script> digg_url = 'http://digg.com/playstation/PSN_is_down_some_titles_experiencing_game_crashing_errors'; </script><script src="http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js"></script></span> A <a href="http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Network/Unable-to-Sign-In-to-Playstation-Network/td-p/9735686/page/5">wide rash of game-crashing errors</a> is spreading among the PS3-owning community at the moment, most of which can be chalked up to a 8001050F error code. This has led to a variety of unfortunate side-effects for those affected, including corrupted Trophy information and an inability to access the PSN. When combined, those two issues prevent players from launching certain games, such as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/heavy-rain"><em>Heavy Rain</em></a>, without being kicked back to the XMB.<br />
<br />
We've contacted Sony to find out what's causing the issue, and when we can expect to get back to chasing down the Origami Killer. He might just be able to make a clean getaway while we suffer through this downtime.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Sony has acknowledged the issue, and is "<a href="http://twitter.com/SonyPlayStation/status/9801870518">looking into it.</a>" We've yet to hear an official word on what the problem is, though it seems to be a bit larger than just the PSN. Owners of PS3 Phats <a href="http://neogaf.net/forum/showthread.php?t=388872">are reporting that the date</a> on their console has reverted to 12/31/1999, which is likely the cause of the data-corrupting errors. Some Phat-owners have reported receiving the errors while their console was offline, which is <em>upsetting</em>, to say the least. We'll let you know when we hear official word from Sony.<br />

<strong>Update 2:</strong> It's been 11 hours since our last update from Sony, and Phat PS3s worldwide are still unable to play Trophy-supported games. The issue is almost certainly non-PSN related, and appears to be a firmware issue caused by the screwy time and date settings. The issue is also affecting debug consoles, <a href="http://www.develop-online.net/news/33995/Now-developers-PS3s-are-hit-by-system-errors?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+developmag%2Fifbh+%28Develop%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader">which Develop reports</a> is preventing PS3 game developers from working on their projects. We'll keep pushing Sony on this issue. Happy New Year, everyone!<br />
<br />
<strong>Update 3:</strong> Sony has responded to the internal clock error, and is advising PS3 Phat owners to leave them turned off until the issue can be fixed -- hopefully within the next 24 hours. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/01/sony-dont-use-your-ps3-until-internal-clock-bug-fixed/">Read here for more info</a>.<br />

We've received <a href="http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57218">a number of reports</a> from readers who've been participating in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bioshock-2"><em>BioShock 2</em>'s</a> multiplayer component and succumbing to a variety of game-crashing bugs. The <a href="http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&amp;safe=off&amp;client=firefox-a&amp;rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&amp;hs=BHG&amp;q=bioshock+2+freezes&amp;aq=f&amp;aqi=&amp;oq=">reported causes of the freezing</a> are widespread -- some Xbox 360 players encounter it during the post-game recap, while some have reported freezing up while in their apartment hubs. We've contacted 2K to find out if anything is being done to patch whatever issue might be causing the breakdowns.<br />
<br />
We were going to make a joke about the freezes being caused by the overzealous use of the Winter Blast plasmid, but that would have been one of the dumbest things we'd ever written.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> A 2K Games representative responded to our query, and explained, "we are aware that some users are experiencing an issue that could cause the game to freeze during the multiplayer component. We are in direct contact with our first party partners and are working around the clock in order to provide a fix as soon as possible."<br />

Though the PC version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wolfenstein"><em>Wolfenstein</em></a> has been out for nearly two months now, the game's been persistently affected by a number of minor bugs. Nothing <em>really</em> huge, mind you -- just a handful of game-crashing, save file-corrupting, SecuROM-breaking errors which are capable of completely crippling your enjoyment of the title. Like we said, no biggie.<br /> <br /> Fortunately, <a href="http://www.wolfenstein.com/news/2297">id Software recently released patch 1.11</a> for the title, which is designed to fix all of the above bugs, effectively restoring your Nazi-massacring experience. Sadly, the patch doesn't include a fix for the glitch which prevents <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/09/new-wolfenstein-game-will-not-feature-hitler/">Robo-Hitler</a> from spawning at any point in the game. What gives, guys?<br /> <br /> [Thanks, Merrick.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/21/pc-version-of-wolfenstein-gets-crash-fixing-patch/">PC version of Wolfenstein gets crash-fixing patch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Oct 2009 01:00:00 EST. Bungie quickly responded to a 60-page-long thread on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3-odst"><em>Halo 3: ODST</em></a> forums where users complained the title had experienced disc read errors while playing in the game's Campaign and Firefight modes. Now, Microsoft has also sounded off on the errors, <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/odst-disc-error-not-widespread">telling Eurogamer</a>, "we are aware of a very small number of people who are reporting they can't play the game," and later adding "at this point it doesn't appear to be a widespread issue."<br />
<br />
In <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/users-report-halo-3-odst-disc-read-errors/">our last post regarding the game-crashing errors</a>, we asked readers if they had encountered similar problems during their time with <em>ODST</em>. Out of the 5,608 participants who responded at the time this article was written, 1,769 (or 31.5 percent) had reported technical issues with the game. We're sure Microsoft has their own method of tracking this data, but our polling figures certainly make the problems seem as though they've <em>spread</em> fairly <em>wide</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/28/microsoft-says-halo-3-odst-disc-read-errors-arent-widespread/">Microsoft says Halo 3: ODST disc read errors aren't 'widespread'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Sep 2009 19:30:00 EST. We're doing our best not to let our imaginations run away with this, so here are the facts: As <a href="http://supererogatory.tumblr.com/post/106916568/job-title-wii-gameplay-designer">superannuation</a> recently noticed, Radical Entertainment is looking for a Wii designer with an "affinity for 3rd Person 'Open-World' Camera Design/Functionality" and a Wii programmer to "take game features from concept to execution for a port of a 360/PS3 game to the Wii."<br /><br />Now, we'd like to think that this is an indication that Radical's bringing upcoming open-world action game, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Prototype/">Prototype</a>, </em>to the Wii. Considering the company's track record, however, there's every chance that this is for another <em>Crash</em> game. Less depressingly, the listing could also be recruiting for an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/23/report-activision-putting-radical-to-work-on-spider-man-high-m/">unconfirmed Spider-Man game</a>. Not as juicy as <em>Prototype</em>, but hey, at least it's not <em>Crash</em>. What are you hoping for?<br /><br /><a href="http://activision.taleo.net/careersection/10020/jobdetail.ftl?lang=en&amp;job=PRO0000FU">Source</a> -- Senior Wii Programmer (Systems &amp; Rendering)<br /><a href="http://activision.taleo.net/careersection/10020/jobdetail.ftl?lang=en&amp;job=GAM00004H">Source</a> -- Wii Gameplay Designer<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/13/radical-job-listings-might-hint-at-prototype-port/">Radical job listings might hint at Wii Prototype port</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 May 2009 10:40:00 EST. Though critical reaction to <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=WipEout%20HD">WipEout HD</a></em> has been <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/wipeouthd">extremely positive</a> so far, reports are beginning to crop up of two major qualms players have with the hyperactive racer. The first of which is, of course, the game's arbitrarily intErcappEd titlE -- the second is a bug that <a href="http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board/message?message.uid=5419816#U5419816">causes the game to freeze or crash</a> for some players. These crashes may not pick their victims at random, however, as members of the European PlayStation forums have deduced that they only <a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/09/25/rumor-wipeout-hd-crashing-for-users-with-large-friend-lists/">strike down PSN users with over 50 e-quaintences</a> on their friends lists.<br /><br />It's not clear whether or not this is <em>actually</em> the case, though certain sociable so-and-sos on our Blu-ray-enabled sister site, PS3 Fanboy, have experienced the freezes (which can apparently be remedied by signing out of PSN while playing). Sony has yet to comment on the veracity of this claim, though they are currently looking into the issue. Until then, we'll be thanking our lucky stars for our lifelong, soul-crushing unpopularity.<br /><br />[Thanks, Lee.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/27/rumor-wipeout-hd-crashing-for-popular-players/">Rumor: WipEout HD crashing for popular players</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 27 Sep 2008 13:00:00 EST. In a Gamasutra interview, Game Republic's Yoshiki Okamoto issued a warning to Nintendo (and the game industry as a whole) regarding the amount of DS software that is flooding Japan: "People are talking about how the second "Atari crash" is around the corner. And Nintendo is the one that has to figure out a way to stop it."<br /><br />Here, Okamoto is referring to the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_video_game_crash_of_1983">1983 video game crash</a>, brought about largely by a rush of third-party developers releasing junk games on the super-popular Atari 2600 system. He sees a parallel in the explosion of training titles being put together for Japan. Okamoto should recognize imitators when he sees them -- he is the creator of <a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&amp;ct=res&amp;cd=3&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fnintendo.joystiq.com%2F2008%2F01%2F16%2Fthe-vc-advantage-down-r-up-l-y-b%2F&amp;ei=ilYbSMszhKanBMPptOEJ&amp;usg=AFQjCNFCMb58GqvWN1oh9cpg9LqUu2Dq1g&amp;sig2=5wCqkRM9rn7evx6--Qbb3g">one of the most-imitated games of all time</a>. We hope that the Japanese market can survive or even flourish from a glut of software, because we <em>like</em> the video game industry.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/02/okamoto-second-atari-crash-possible-for-ds/">Okamoto: Second 'Atari crash' possible for DS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 02 May 2008 15:00:00 EST. Crash Bandicoot returns for another platforming adventure in October, 2008. The boisterous character again has the power to ride defeated enemies, using their special abilities. For example, before crossing a lake, he might force a frost-breathing creature to freeze it solid. Other times, he might roll on top of a spherical enemy over ramps, like a Sonic or <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Hatcher_and_the_Giant_Egg">Billy Hatcher</a>.<br /><br />But unlike the previous <span style="font-style: italic;">Crash</span>, players can carry along a favorite enemy at all times. This way, gamers can defeat an immediate puzzle, but still retain the abilities of another, go-to creature.<br /><br />I recently tried Radical's Wii version of the in-development title. The team is building for the Wii first, and essentially scaling the graphics up for the 360 and down for the PS2. This approach gives the Wii title a finished sheen that beats most others Wii games. (Multi-platform games often scale PS2 graphics up to the Wii, but don't truly utilize the hardware.) <span style="font-style: italic;">Crash</span> seemed fun; its bright graphics and light tone should attract its kid-targeted audience.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crash-bandicoot-mind-over-mutant/">Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crash-bandicoot-mind-over-mutant/#775800"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/crash_mom_april14_screen_0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crash-bandicoot-mind-over-mutant/#775799"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/crash_mom_april14_screen_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crash-bandicoot-mind-over-mutant/#775798"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/crash_mom_april14_screen_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crash-bandicoot-mind-over-mutant/#775797"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/crash_mom_aprilfaves_screen02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crash-bandicoot-mind-over-mutant/#775796"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/04/crash_mom_aprilfaves_screen00_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/28/joystiq-impressions-crash-bandicoot-mind-over-mutant/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Joystiq impressions: Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant (Wii)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/28/joystiq-impressions-crash-bandicoot-mind-over-mutant/">Joystiq impressions: Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant (Wii)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 Apr 2008 07:00:00 EST. Plenty of games releasing this week, so if you're looking for something new to play, especially a sports game, then you should be good to go. <ul>
    <li><em> NBA Live 08 </em></li>
    <li><em> Spider-Man: Friend or Foe </em></li>
    <li><em> MLB Power Pros </em></li>
    <li><em> Dave Mirra BMX Challenge </em></li>
    <li><em> Crash of the Titans </em></li>
    <li><em> Balls of Fury </em></li>
    <li><em> Hot Wheels: Beat That! </em></li>

While a half-hour may not seem like much, at hands-on gaming events, we writers rarely have the time or interest to play more than about fifteen minutes of a title before moving to the next.<br /><br />Criterion creative director, Alex Ward chatted while I raced through the realistic city; he was clearly proud and excited by the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/burnout-paradise-events-online-focus-confirmed/">deviation</a> from previous <span style="font-style: italic;">Burnout</span> franchise titles. It's not taking control of minions so much that has us all excited, but just the desire for some platforming action on the Wii. <font color="red">Update</font>: x360a has the <a href="http://www.xbox360achievements.org/achievements.php?gameID=323">pictures</a> for the list in case you're interested.<br /><br />MyGamercard.net got <a href="http://news.mygamercard.net/2007/08/10/bandicoots-crash-into-mgc-leave-achievements/">their hands</a> on the Achievement list for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/CrashoftheTitans/">Crash of the Titans</a> </em>(which explains the slightly jumbled headline) today. The list seems to point at completing various tasks throughout the story, with some extra stuff thrown in for beating the game on the Hard difficulty and earning Gold Idols on all the levels on hard. Hopefully the Achievements will be retroactive so those who want to tackle those can get the other ones at the same time. There are also 5 secret Achievements which account for 75 Gamerscore. In total there are 47 Achievements for the standard 1000 Gamerscore.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/10/the-titans-of-achievements-crash/">The Titans of Achievements Crash [update 1]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Aug 2007 15:45:00 EST. Considering the number of people that have either come close to, or have fully experienced, the fun of somebody hitting your car because they are on their cell phone -- we're cool with many states attempting to pass <a href="http://www.stargazettenews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070707/OPINION01/707070306">gaming and driving laws</a>. If they try to pass coffee drinking and gaming laws there'll be some drama though.<br /><br />Approximately 12 states are trying to forbid drivers from playing video games or using computers and/or fax machines while they drive. Pity the person who still faxes and fear the fool who does it driving. The New York Senate, although <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/22/ny-game-bill-awaits-passage-in-july/">having a slew of crazy video game bills</a>, did recently pass S634-C, which should stop gaming and driving. But having a law and enforcing it are two separate worlds. It is expected to be finalized when the Assembly Codes Committee comes back from summer recess.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gamepolitics.com/2007/07/09/proposed-legislation-dont-game-drive/">GamePolitics</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/09/gaming-while-driving-laws-coming-soon/">Gaming while driving laws coming soon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Jul 2007 18:30:00 EST. Maybe we're crazy, but watching the embedded video (past the post break) has gotten us kind of excited for the game. The on-rail segments of the video look especially interesting to us. But, you know, we're realists, so we know to hold on to our <span style="font-style: italic;">large amounts</span> of skepticism involving the game and will wait until the final product releases before passing any kind of <span style="font-style: italic;">real</span> judgment.<br /><br />Do you think it looks promising, based on the gameplay montage video?<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crash-of-the-titans/">Crash of the Titans</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crash-of-the-titans/#246772"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/05/ak2007-05-18_13-31-45win_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crash-of-the-titans/#246771"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/05/ak2007-05-18_13-31-55win_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crash-of-the-titans/#246770"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/05/ak2007-05-18_13-31-36win_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/crash-of-the-titans/#246769"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2007/05/ak2007-05-18_13-31-27win_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/26/crash-of-the-titans-gameplay-montage/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Crash of the Titans gameplay montage</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/26/crash-of-the-titans-gameplay-montage/">Crash of the Titans gameplay montage</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Jun 2007 15:05:00 EST. Sure to be an ironic favorite of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Merrick">Joseph Merrick</a>, <em>Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree </em>is set to reach the U.S. this week. If you're anything like us, you're also excited about the <em>Crash Bandicoot Action Pack</em>, or, at least, you were until you realized it consisted of <em>Crash Tag Team Racing</em>, <em>Crash Twinsanity</em> and <em>Crash Nitro Kart</em>. Isn't that like releasing <em>Meatloaf's Greatest Hits</em> with just an endless loop of "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37GrbCUvZEM">Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer than They Are</a>" and a puppy getting kicked down some stairs? You might find something you like more right after the jump.<br /><br />Nintendo Wii:<br />

Set to be another reinvention of the series, this new game will be titled <em>Crash of the Titans</em>. The main new feature of the game has <em>Crash</em> hijacking the minds of enemies. He'll also have expanded combat moves, and the game will have multiplayer elements. Radical Entertainment is helming this series reboot, which may be good,since they have a history of making enjoyable licensed games (<em>Scarface</em>, <em>Hulk</em>). Maybe this <em>Crash</em> will be worth getting excited over. Any long time <em>Crash</em> fans looking forward to this entry?</p>

Third time's the charm, maybe?<br /><br /><em>Crash of the Titans</em> brings the series to not only the DS, but the GBA and Wii. Screenshots of the Wii title indicate that the blue-jeaned marsupial will be thrown back into his natural, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/platformer">platforming</a>/adventure-gaming habitat, freeing him from the wacky genres that've watered down the franchise. Players will be able to unlock extra elements in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/">Wii version</a> with a DS copy of the game.<br /><br />We're much too cautious to let another Crash Bandicoot title get our hopes up, but we wish Radical Entertainment all the best with its development. Though the Spanish magazine that unveiled <em>Crash of the Titans</em> mentioned an October release, the game isn't guaranteed to arrive in the US at the same date. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=151497">NeoGAF</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/19/crash-of-the-titans-headed-to-nintendo-systems/">'Crash' of the Titans headed to Nintendo systems</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Apr 2007 11:00:00 EST. According to <a href="http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20061122/psp.htm">Game Watch</a>, the impressive-looking <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/jeanne-darc/"><em>Jeanne d'Arc</em></a> may be responsible for the insanely quick <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/22/sony-releases-new-3-01-firmware-a-day-after-3-00/">3.01 firmware</a> turnaround. 3.0 seems to have a glitch where the UMD load times were significantly increased for that game. Apparently, some users were experiencing game crashes, where players would be stuck at Loading screens. Strange. Could any other games be afflicted by strange 3.0 firmware glitchiness?<br />
