You should read through the whole thread if you're interested, but PC Gamer has kindly grabbed <a href="http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/11/05/informative-infinity-ward-animator-talks-fps-design-animations/">some of the most fascinating insights</a>.<br /><br />Glasgo says that "most serial numbers on guns in <em>CoD</em> have significance" of some kind, whether it's just a reference to his workout gym of choice, or a hint to something in the game's larger mythology.<br /><br />He also explains that while gun aficionados will often tell him he's made some sort of technical mistake in rendering realistic weapons, the choice to do things differently is simply creative. For example, you're never supposed to point a real gun anywhere but forward even while reloading it, but following that rule <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_sIKgmvqaU">would make some of these</a> just so ... boring.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/08/infinity-ward-animator-talks-first-person-flourishes/">Infinity Ward animator talks first-person flourishes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Nov 2012 03:00:00 EST. First and foremost, the Creative mode is going to be included in the game, which allows players to fly, destroy a large number of blocks at a time, and build with as many blocks of each type as they want. It turns the game into a real sandbox creation engine, leaving the player free from worrying about finding diamonds or getting blown up by a Creeper.<br /><br />There are also plenty of new mobs, new biomes and landscape features, and new crafting items and recipes, and a whole host of bug fixes and stability additions. Unfortunately, if you want to know when the update is going live, you'll just have to wait. Even after digging down deep, all we came up with for a release date was "soon." That's not exactly emerald ore, unfortunately.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/03/minecraft-for-xbox-360-getting-creative-mode-more-in-next-updat/">Minecraft for Xbox 360 getting Creative Mode, more in next update</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Oct 2012 22:30:00 EST. There once was a time when your only option for exercising creativity in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/team-fortress-2"><em>Team Fortress 2</em></a> was to come up with clever ways to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/22/team-roomba-perfects-the-art-of-team-fortress-2-griefing/">grief your fellow players</a>. Today, Valve announced that players would soon have a less annoying way to stretch their imagination muscles -- by <a href="http://www.teamfortress.com/contribute/">designing their own items and avatars</a> which could possibly show up in-game.<br />
<br />
Of course, you can't simply <em>break</em> one of the classes by creating a mini-nuke launcher for them -- there's a number of restrictions to what's appropriate for the game. Check out Valve's handy "<a href="http://www.teamfortress.com/contribute/tips.php">Tips and Tricks</a>" page to find out how to ensure your homebrewed creations are <em>TF2</em>-acceptable. For instance, a new fedora for the Sniper? Absolutely. A gun shaped like genitalia for the Heavy? Absolutely <em>not</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/14/valve-looking-for-user-created-items-in-team-fortress-2/">Valve looking for user-created items in Team Fortress 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 14 Jan 2010 19:45:00 EST. <br />It doesn't take much ingenuity to create Mii versions of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/18/celebrity-mii-contest-produces-superb-results/">celebrities</a> like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/05/mii-doppelgangers-the-complete-office-cast">The Office cast</a>, of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/28/the-big-lebowsk-wii-mii-theater-in-action/">The Big Lebowski</a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/13/japan-gets-celebrity-endorsed-miis/">some Japanese guys we've never heard of</a>, but it takes some true inspiration to make the Pac-man face above, complete with frowning ghost facial hair. For those who doubt such a creation is possible with the Wii's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/29/mii-channel-misses-wii-annoyance-008/">somewhat-limited palette</a> of face-creation options, we've included a video of the process after the jump. As for us, we're off to the barber and then the plastic surgeon to make this Mii-inspired dream a reality.<br /><br />[Thanks <a href="http://www.avantglance.com">Luis Camino</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/03/pac-man-mii-pac-miin/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pac-man + Mii = Pac-miin</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/03/pac-man-mii-pac-miin/">Pac-man + Mii = Pac-miin</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Apr 2007 22:25:00 EST. This is a condensed version of a two-page <em>Oblivion </em>advert that ran across many gaming magazines in the month of April, and the best word to describe it might be "conventional." Is it too conventional, too standard, too boring? Does this epitome of the standard video game advertisement succeed or fail?</p>
<p>Does the ad do justice to the game? If you're breathing and if you've been reading games media printed on dead trees, you've seen this thing in a magazine. Did it do anything for you when you first saw it? How about now? </p>
