Killing bugs is like a marriage: If you wanna keep the spark alive, you've gotta add some variety. If you feel a distance growing between you and the insects of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon">Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon</a></em>, the new Death From Above! Jet armor and Pounds of Pain! Battle armor weapon packs ($3 a piece, 15 weapons in each pack) may be just what you need to close the gap.<br />
<br />
With 30 new ways to say "I miss you," isn't it time you remind that special bug in your life that he/she/it is the only insectoid menace that's worthy of your bullets?<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/09/two-packs-of-edf-insect-armageddon-dlc-now-available/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Two packs of EDF: Insect Armageddon DLC now available</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/09/two-packs-of-edf-insect-armageddon-dlc-now-available/">Two packs of EDF: Insect Armageddon DLC now available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Aug 2011 22:30:00 EST. It's not that it's a failure.<br />
<br />
I can see what <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon"><em>Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon</em></a> wants to be: A mindless, explosive shooting gallery. I can also see that it does a pretty good job of meeting that goal. It's mindless, stuff explodes, there's shooting. Top marks all around.<br />
<br />
But no matter how I tried to see the brighter side of this basically good-hearted game, I couldn't shake an inescapable truth: This is dumb, and you deserve better.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-e3-2011/">Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon (E3 2011)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-e3-2011/#4220844"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/edfbuilding-destruction_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-e3-2011/#4220845"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/edfchase_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-e3-2011/#4220846"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/edfdaddy-long-legs_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-e3-2011/#4220847"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/edffire-power_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-e3-2011/#4220848"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/edffrom-above_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/07/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon review: Shoot, shoot, shoot, end</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/07/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon-review/">Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon review: Shoot, shoot, shoot, end</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 Jul 2011 14:25:00 EST. Bugs don't have emotions. Bugs don't have a sense of right and wrong. All they know is that our delicious human bones are <em>delicious</em>. Before blasting enemies in the <a href="http://www.art95.com/">Art Co. Ltd.</a>-developed shooter, you must locate them using sonar. Then, when you do destroy them, they go away in "explosive 3D patterns." 3D also shows up in the "multi-layered environments." <br />
<br />
No screens have been released yet, so we'll all have to imagine that eye candy for now. And that's too bad, because we're intrigued by the idea of a sonar-based shmup and we'd like to see more. D3 also declined to offer any release date estimates for <em>Dream Trigger</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/15/dream-trigger-3ds/">D3 Publisher pings 3DS with 'Dream Trigger'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Dec 2010 09:46:00 EST. Sometimes you just need to put something on the TV to get a break from the kids. Now that they've danced to all the MC Hammer a human being could ever dance to in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/just-dance"><em>Just Dance</em></a>, you've got to resort to stronger, more potent forms of distraction. That's why we're here to tell you about <a href="http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/permalink/?ndmViewId=news_view&amp;newsId=20100512005528&amp;newsLang=en"><em>KIDZ BOP Dance Party! The Video Game</em></a>.<br />
<br />
A joint operation between D3Publisher and those weird cover albums you see <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjlBIgAs6c8">advertised</a> on Nickelodeon, the new Wii game will launch on September 21 and will feature "24 contemporary hits" -- including pint-sized renditions of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi," Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Pink's "Get the Party Started." Really? Kids know who Pink is?<br />
<br />
The game will also have five different modes of play: Free Play; Challenge; Dance Off; Shop; and Dress-Up. Challenge mode will allow two players to dance cooperatively, while Dance Off will feature a head-to-head mode. The remainder of the game will be single player only but don't fret: if there's one thing kids are great at doing, it's sharing their toys.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/13/sick-of-just-dance-try-kidz-bop-dance-party-the-video-game/">Sick of Just Dance? If you've played the impossibly addictive gem-swapping RPG known as <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest">Puzzle Quest</a>, </em>you probably won't find yourself in uncharted waters when you check out the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-2">game's upcoming sequel</a>, due out this June. Still, if you need a refresher course, or if you're an untainted newbie, you should check out the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/search/?post_form_id=9e8408cfdebe939587b11fac6a4ab2fa&amp;q=puzzle%20quest%202%20mage%20trainer&amp;init=quick&amp;ref=search_loaded#!/PuzzleQuest2?ref=search&amp;sid=42203216.1571103160..1"><em>Puzzle Quest 2 Mage Trainer</em></a> game on Facebook. <br />
<br />
It serves as a surprisingly comprehensive demonstration of what the series' combat feels like, though it lacks some of <em>Puzzle Quest</em>'s RPG trappings. Mercifully enough, it also lacks <em>Puzzle Quest</em>'s hyper-repetitive music.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/30/puzzle-quest-2-mage-trainer-demo-cast-onto-facebook/">Puzzle Quest 2 'Mage Trainer' demo cast onto Facebook</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Apr 2010 15:00:00 EST. <br />
As the trailer above shows, <em>Puzzle Quest 2</em> features an entirely new storyline, so we'll get to meet new characters just as memorable as whoever it was we were playing as between rounds of the puzzle game last time.<br />

Good news, Japan! D3 Publisher is localizing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bioshock-2"><em>Bioshock 2</em></a> for you and, this time around, you won't have to wait that long to get your ADAM-soaked hands on it. Andriasang <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2009/11/27/bioshock_2_japanese_release/">reports</a> D3 Publisher will release the 2K Marin, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/10/bioshock-2-given-another-helping-hand-in-arkane-studios/">et al.</a>-developed sequel sometime in early 2010 -- presumably close to the February 9 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/bioshock-2-washes-up-on-shore-feb-9-2010/">US release date</a>. We just hope the new Japanese ad campaign dials back the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkyAFwPrD0k"><em>completely frightening</em></a> a bit.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/bioshock-2-coming-to-japan-courtesy-of-d3-publisher/">Bioshock 2 coming to Japan, courtesy of D3 Publisher</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Nov 2009 18:00:00 EST. It'll be out in spring 2010, along with every other game you've ever heard of, which means that you'll now have the choice to play <em>all those games </em>or <em>Puzzle Quest</em>. They'll occupy about the same amount of time.<br />
<br />
<em>Puzzle Quest 2</em> will let players match gems as one of four new character classes: War Mage, Inquisitor, Barbarian, or Assassin, using "all-new weapons, spells, and shields." If you've been dying to march Akira Toriyama-designed characters through fantasy landscapes and monster-infested dungeons, you'll be saddened to hear that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dragon-quest-ix"><em>Dragon Quest IX</em></a> has yet to be announced for North American release. As if sensing your oddly specific yearning, D3Publisher has stepped in with a US debut for <em>Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow</em>. <br /><br />Dubbed <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/12/12/mistwalker-and-namco-team-up-for-new-blue-dragon-game/"><em>Blue Dragon: Ikai no Kyojuu</em></a> in Japan (and published by Namco Bandai, which owns the majority of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/18/namco-bandai-now-owns-95-of-d3-publisher/">D3Publisher</a>), the second DS entry in the Mistwalker's role-playing franchise stars a new protagonist, with gender, facial features and clothing determined by your input. <em>Awakened Shadow</em> is set two years after the events of the Xbox 360 game and finds Shu and the gang returning to <em>Blue Dragon</em>'s "contemporary" RPG gameplay. Expect to upgrade weaponry, tactically change shadows and skip every scene featuring Marumaro. <br /><br /><em>Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow</em> is scheduled for release in Spring 2010.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/29/blue-dragon-awakened-shadow-coming-to-ds-in-spring-2010/">Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow coming to DS in Spring 2010</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Oct 2009 14:30:00 EST. It must be tough being a video game character. They always have to be "on" -- ready to go should we boot up our systems or pump more quarters into the machines. But what happens when we stop turning them on? A <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-get-matt-hazard/58027">two</a>-<a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-get-matt-hazard/58029">part</a> trailer for the second-chance <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/01/matt-hazard-returns-in-blood-bath-and-beyond/"><em>Matt Hazard: Blood Bath &amp; Beyond</em></a> (now a side-scroller!) explores the more <span style="font-style: italic;">desperate</span> side of the digital beings we've so carelessly abused and sold back to GameStop.<br /><br />Head past the break for the two trailers and see if you can spot all of the cameos! (You know it's hard times when even a certain mustached plumber can't find any work.)<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/23/matt-hazard-trailers-put-out-of-work-characters-back-in-the-game/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Matt Hazard trailers put out-of-work characters back in the game</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/23/matt-hazard-trailers-put-out-of-work-characters-back-in-the-game/">Matt Hazard trailers put out-of-work characters back in the game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Oct 2009 19:00:00 EST. You probably weren't eagerly awaiting the return of self-aware game hero Matt Hazard. Oh sure, it's kind of a funny premise, but so was <em>Ishtar</em> and we all saw how that worked out. Besides, if you want to softly chuckle as you play a miserable game, the first <em>Matt Hazard </em>title is probably available for a pittance.<br />
<br />
Regardless, we've brought you to this post to alert you to the existence <em>Matt Hazard: Blood, Bath and Beyond</em> now (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/29/d3-trademarks-new-matt-hazard-title/">officially</a>) coming to XBLA and PSN. It's a really great name, but judging from the screenshot, we're assuming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/shadow-complex"><em>Darkened Structure</em></a> was taken.<br />

Blizzard's playable <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Diablo-3/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Diablo 3</span></a> demo at this year's BlizzCon felt like a step backwards from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/14/blizzcon-2008-in-depth-diablo-3-hands-on">last year's</a>, mostly because the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2009-diablo-3/2238166/full">Rune</a> system was removed completely. It'll be in the final game, but since Blizzard is still working on the Skills that the Runes enhance / rely on, the company said it didn't make sense to have the Runes in this time around. Bummer. It makes sense, but we still missed the bouncing, flaming skulls the Witch Doctor once issued.<br /><br />Also, last year's area included a lot more dialogue, and had moodier lighting. This time we were smack dab in the middle of a giant desert, which didn't offer many chances to encounter spooky, candlelit chambers. There were a couple of dungeons you could drop down into this year, via swirling sands, but for the most part you were hoofing it around under the bright sun.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2009-diablo-3/">BlizzCon 2009: Diablo 3</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2009-diablo-3/#2238169"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/d3screenspanel9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2009-diablo-3/#2238168"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/d3screenspanel8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2009-diablo-3/#2238167"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/d3screenspanel7_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2009-diablo-3/#2238166"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/d3screenspanel6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2009-diablo-3/#2238165"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/d3screenspanel5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/27/blizzcon-2009-a-hoard-of-diablo-3-info/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BlizzCon 2009: A hoard of Diablo 3 info</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/27/blizzcon-2009-a-hoard-of-diablo-3-info/">BlizzCon 2009: A hoard of Diablo 3 info</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Aug 2009 21:10:00 EST. Like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/05/impressions-astro-boy-wii/"><em>Astro Boy</em></a>, which is inspired by Treasure's <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/virtually-overlooked-astro-boy-omega-factor/"><em>Astro Boy: The Omega Factor</em></a>, High Voltage took cues from an excellent game when designing this children's game: <em>Bionic Commando.</em> The good one, that is, not the new one.<br /><br />"Yes, we were playing <em>Bionic Commando Rearmed</em> when we were initially pitching the concept for the game to D3Publisher," producer Josh VanVeld told <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/08/13/high-voltage-shocks-us-with-their-bionic-commando-inspired-licensed-game/">Siliconera</a>. The Claw allows Zak Saturday to grapple (amongst other things), so that kind of mechanic seemed like a perfect fit and gave us the opportunity to try out a new 2D/3D hybrid camera system in our engine."<br /><br />While Zak's grappling-based gameplay seems to be most prevalent, VanVeld said that there are "literally dozens of other characters, all of which have unique play styles." The mere mention of grappling was enough to get us to try a game based on a cartoon we've never watched.<br /><br />[Thanks, Ed!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/14/licensed-game-from-high-voltage-inspired-by-bionic-commando/">Licensed game from High Voltage inspired by Bionic Commando </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Aug 2009 11:30:00 EST. In fact, <em>The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road</em> is a localized version of Media Vision's <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/riz-zoawd"><em>RIZ-ZOAWD</em></a>, which is nothing less than a <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/01/08/riz-zoawd-were-off-to-see-the-wizard/"><em>Wizard of Oz</em>-themed JRPG</a>. XSEED has partnered with original Japanese publisher D3 to bring this weird game to North America.<br /><br /><em>Beyond the Yellow Brick Road</em> combines the Oz setting with turn-based <em>Dragon Quest</em>-esque combat, with certain enemies more susceptible to attacks from certain party members, and a trackball-like movement interface. You'll be able to send your flying monkeys out for it this fall.<br /><br />D3 is now a subsidiary of Namco Bandai, which means that <em>The Wizard of Oz</em> is the <em>fourth</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sky-crawlers">Namco</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fragile">Bandai</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/retro-game-challenge">game</a> to be picked up by XSEED. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-wizard-of-oz-beyond-the-yellow-brick-road-ds/">The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road (DS)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-wizard-of-oz-beyond-the-yellow-brick-road-ds/#2154716"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/oz072006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-wizard-of-oz-beyond-the-yellow-brick-road-ds/#2154715"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/oz072005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-wizard-of-oz-beyond-the-yellow-brick-road-ds/#2154714"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/oz072004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-wizard-of-oz-beyond-the-yellow-brick-road-ds/#2154713"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/oz072003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-wizard-of-oz-beyond-the-yellow-brick-road-ds/#2154712"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/07/oz072002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/xseed-clicks-heels-together-brings-wizard-of-oz-rpg-to-north-am/">XSEED clicks heels together, brings Wizard of Oz RPG to North America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009 14:15:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/eat-lead"><em>Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard</em></a> was not a very good game. In fact, it kind of made our hearts hurt a little bit to play it. So, when we read that <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/d3-trademarks-matt-hazard-blood-bath-and-beyond-130168.phtml">D3 had trademarked another Matt Hazard title</a>, we were going to just let the opportunity to write about it slide by.<br /><br />But that's when we read that the new title was "Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond," which really yanked the decision out of our hands. C'mon, "Blood Bath and Beyond"? That's hilarious. We're not sure if it's for the "retro" XBLA/PSN Matt Hazard game announced in February or a new sequel, but either way, a great name. ... We take no pleasure in admitting that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-galactrix">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix</a> </em>on the DS was a poorly designed, <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/totilo-ds-version-of-galactrix-plagued-by-load-times/">loading-time-riddled</a> heart breaker. So, it's with no small amount of trepidation and a modicum of hope that we report the XBLA version of the game will arrive on April 8 for <strike>an undisclosed price</strike>. [<strong>Update: </strong>Just heard back from D3. <em>Galactrix </em>will run you 1600 points, or $20.]<br /><br />Though its DS counterpart hurt us and hurt us badly, we're hoping that the XBLA version fares much, much better. We're not sure all the problems can be fixed by porting the game to a different box, but we'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong.<br /><br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (XBLA/DS/PC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrixlogo022508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662460"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250813_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662459"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250812_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662458"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250811_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662457"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250810_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/02/puzzle-quest-galactrix-beams-down-to-xbla-on-april-8/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Puzzle Quest: Galactrix beams down to XBLA on April 8 [update]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/02/puzzle-quest-galactrix-beams-down-to-xbla-on-april-8/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix beams down to XBLA on April 8 [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Apr 2009 10:14:00 EST. It's clear that the developers are attempting to create a parody of some of gaming's most tired stereotypes. That's a neat concept, and one we can get behind. The fear is that if the game doesn't have decent gameplay -- a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/eat-lead-the-return-of-matt-hazard-is-a-parody-of-itself/">likely possibility</a> at this point -- all the humor in the world doesn't matter. Without fun gameplay, you see, all you're left with is a title full of <em>gaming's most tired stereotypes</em>.<br />
<br />
At least the trailers are funny, though.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/23/eat-lead-the-return-of-matt-hazard-launch-trailer/">Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard launch trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Feb 2009 23:00:00 EST. Xbox.com has <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/p/pqgalactrixxboxlivearcade/">updated</a> its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/galactrix-coming-to-pc-on-feb-24-xbla-date-unconfirmed/">previous listing</a> of <em>Puzzle Quest <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/galactrix">Galactrix</a></em> to note a February 25 release date. If this date holds, it means the XBLA version will not require a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/08/this-wednesday-puzzle-quest-and-toyota-advergame-hit-xbla/">six-month wait</a> again, arriving in XBLA's virtual retail space around the same time as the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/puzzle-quest-galactrix-warps-onto-ds-feb-24/">DS</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/galactrix-coming-to-pc-on-feb-24-xbla-date-unconfirmed/">PC</a> versions.<br /><br />We contacted publisher D3 and the company could not confirm the date nor pricing at this time. For those who still haven't tried <em>Galactrix</em>, the follow-up to multi-platform sleeper hit <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest">Puzzle Quest</a></em>, there's always the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/19/resistance-is-futile-puzzle-quest-galactrix-launches-flash-demo/">Flash-based demo</a> available. However, we recommend anyone with addictive personality traits not come within a parsec of the title.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamerbytes.com/2009/02/puzzle_quest_galactrix_confirm.php">GameBytes</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/xbox-com-lists-puzzle-quest-galactrix-for-feb-25/">Xbox.com lists Puzzle Quest Galactrix for Feb. 25</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 Feb 2009 14:45:00 EST. <div align="left">What? The public being allowed into a game's launch event? We've never heard of such a thing. Okay, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/12/psa-street-fighter-iv-launch-party-open-to-the-public/">maybe we have</a>. So has D3 Publisher, who is going to let the first 100 Joystiq readers that RSVP to <a href="mailto:PQGalactrixRSVP@d3p.us">PQGalactrixRSVP@d3p.us</a> celebrate the release of its latest <strike>controlled substance</strike> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest"><em>Puzzle Quest</em></a> game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/puzzle-quest-galactrix"><em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em></a>.<br /><br />The event is being held in <strong>Los Angeles </strong>on Thursday, February 19 from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. -- so bear that in mind before emailing. The publisher isn't going to fly you there or anything.<br /><br />The first 50 "chosen ones" who show up with a Nintendo DS will receive a pre-release copy of the DS version of <em>Galactrix</em>. They'll also be able to play every version of the game pre-launch and have a chance to win T-Shirts, calendars ... and potentially even a customized <em>Galactrix </em>DS Lite. It looks like even a crack squad of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/onechanbara">bikini-clad samurai</a> won't be able to hold off an acquisition of D3 by fellow Japanese publisher Namco Bandai. That latter has revealed plans to effectively buy out D3 by purchasing all of its stock. Namco has already made deals with D3's board which have resulted in it obtaining a 70% stake in the company. It has offered to purchase the remaining 30% at a share price of &yen;62,000 (US$686)<br /><br />In a press release announcing the proposed buyout, Namco notes that D3 would benefit from Bandai's reach into other mediums (toys, TV, arcades, movies/music); the sharing of game engine technology; cooperative development of mobile titles; and the rights to use Namco-owned properties (characters, etc.) in its <em>Simple</em> series of budget games.<br /><br />We'll let you know when -- and if -- D3 has <em>tekken</em> the offer.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.vg247.com/2009/02/12/report-namco-moves-to-buy-d3/">VG247</a>]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/articles/2009/02/12/bandai_namco_d3_takeover/">Source</a> - Bandai Namco plans D3 buyout [andriasang.com]<br /><a href="http://www.bandainamco.co.jp/releases/images/3/49582.pdf">Source</a> - Bandai Namco Q3 Management Plan [press release: PDF]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/12/namco-bandai-announces-intent-to-purchase-d3-publisher/">Namco Bandai announces intent to purchase D3 Publisher</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Feb 2009 15:18:00 EST. If you've ever lamented the lack of localization love shown to some of Japan's more obscure titles, you've probably overestimated their Western appeal. Alison Quirion, vice president of marketing for D3 Publisher, demonstrates considerable expertise in the matter, telling <a href="http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/features/ad-watch-bikinis-zombies-and-hot-lead/?biz=1">GameDaily</a> about some of the discernible elements one seeks out in import-worthy titles. "Among the titles we have access to, we localize the ones that will have a certain appeal and are about pure fun experiences," she explains. Also, "we thought there was a bunch of gamers who'd dig hot girls slicing up zombies; its something that I think most gamers can immediately identify with."<br /><br />Before we reach for our intellectual facades in unison, let's hear what David Pava, president of a marketing consultancy called "Problem Solver," thinks about the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/27/swords-blood-underage-girls-and-waggle-hands-on-with-onechanb/"><em>OneChanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</em></a>. "There is still that deep story in the game," he says, noting that <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/go-deep-inside-onechanbara-bikini-zombie-slayers/">recent advertising</a> has "to get people aware of the game and make them understand the basic concepts of the game." Presumably, the <em>Bikini Zombie Slayers</em> subtitle failed to make it clear that the <em>slayers</em> (and not the <em>zombies</em>) are the ones wearing the <em>bikinis</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/onechanbara-bikini-zombie-squad/">Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers (Wii)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/onechanbara-bikini-zombie-squad/#1121847"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/onewii-screenshot_0009_rev_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/onechanbara-bikini-zombie-squad/#1121846"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/onewii-screenshot_0008_rev_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/onechanbara-bikini-zombie-squad/#1121845"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/onewii-screenshot_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/onechanbara-bikini-zombie-squad/#1121844"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/onewii-c025rev_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/onechanbara-bikini-zombie-squad/#1121843"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/onewii-c016_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/10/hot-girls-slicing-up-zombies-is-something-we-can-immediately-ide/">Hot girls slicing up zombies is something we can immediately identify with</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 Feb 2009 17:31:00 EST. This is it, folks. The final trailer you're going to see before <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/onechanbara"><em>Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</em></a> releases <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/new-games-this-month-february-2009/1329927/">next week</a>. If zombie slaughter, scantily clad ladies, and ridiculous dialogue interest you in the least, then you'll want to check this trailer out (we've embedded it after the break, as it's rated M). It has <em>all</em> of those things, not to mention <strong>big, bold text</strong>.<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/go-deep-inside-onechanbara-bikini-zombie-slayers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GO DEEP INSIDE Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/go-deep-inside-onechanbara-bikini-zombie-slayers/">GO DEEP INSIDE Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Feb 2009 18:00:00 EST. The stars are pointing to an almost simultaneous release of <em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em> on DS, PC and XBLA; currently, the Xbox 360 version is the only one not "officially" confirmed. <a href="http://www.gamerbytes.com/2009/02/puzzle_quest_galactrix_coming.php">GamerBytes</a> noticed earlier today that Xbox.com listed a February 24 release date for the RPG puzzle title. The page is, as of this writing, still <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/p/pqgalactrixxboxlivearcade/">live with the date</a>. Of course, a problem with that release date is that it marks a Tuesday ... which doesn't really fit in with that whole <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xblawednesday/">Xbox Live Arcade <em>Wednesday</em></a> thing. Oh yeah, also, it says "2/24/2008," which would be last year.<br /><br />Publisher Aspyr has <a href="http://www.aspyr.com/software/news/104/258">confirmed</a> the Feb. 24 PC release date, which follows the confirmation of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/puzzle-quest-galactrix-warps-onto-ds-feb-24/">DS</a> date a couple of weeks ago. By Grabthar's hammer, we hope <em>Galactrix</em> hits that Wednesday. We'd rather avoid another <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/08/this-wednesday-puzzle-quest-and-toyota-advergame-hit-xbla/">six-month wait</a> like we endured with the original <em>Puzzle Quest</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/">Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (XBLA/DS/PC)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrixlogo022508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662460"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250813_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662459"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250812_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662458"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250811_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/puzzle-quest-galactrix-xbla/#662457"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/02/galactrix02250810_thumbnail.png" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/03/galactrix-coming-to-pc-on-feb-24-xbla-date-unconfirmed/">Galactrix coming to PC on Feb. 24, XBLA date unconfirmed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Feb 2009 15:55:00 EST. Yesterday's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/18/e308-onechanbara-ogled/" style=""><em>Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/27/onechanbara-video-features-bikini-zombie-slaying-for-once/">video</a> left out one important component of the experience: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/onechanbaras-other-zombie-slayers/">Reiko</a>, the cloned fighter sent out to capture samples of Aya and Saki's blood. Well, it also left out Misery, but we expect to see her soon. That's right, in case you had forgotten, Tamsoft's super-bloody hack-and-slash has another character who is -- get this -- a <em>scantily-clad young woman</em>. In <em>this</em> game? Really? <em>What a departure!</em> And here she is (after the break) in fenced-off areas slashing a bunch of zombies with a sword. It's like a totally different game.<br /></div>
<br />We might be doing Reiko's outfit a disservice by calling it a catsuit. Catsuits are demure next to her little ensemble, which is basically the front of a vest and a set of skintight chaps, with some fishnet underneath<span style="font-style: italic;"></span>. <br /><br />We kind of can't believe that <em>Onechanbara</em> is really coming out on February 10. We've been talking about this silly game since <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/24/tgs07-d3-announces-oneechanbara-r/">September 2007</a>!<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/28/onechanbara-leather-catsuit-zombie-slayers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Onechanbara: Leather Catsuit Zombie Slayers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/28/onechanbara-leather-catsuit-zombie-slayers/">Onechanbara: Leather Catsuit Zombie Slayers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Jan 2009 09:00:00 EST. Following the recent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/08/onechanbara-better-looking-bikini-zombie-slayers-for-north-amer/"><em>Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</em></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/25/wii-warm-up-bikini-zombie-marketing/">trailers</a>, we feel obligated to warn you that the one after the post break contains <em>real gameplay footage.</em> If you came in hoping for more oatmeal-faced zombie analogues mugging in pseudo-sitcom vignettes, you will be disappointed. However, those of you who wanted to see bikini-clad ladies cleanly slicing through hundreds and hundreds of zombies will be well-served by this surprisingly excellent-looking trailer. And if you want <span style="font-style: italic;">more</span> footage, IGN has a few <a href="http://media.wii.ign.com/media/965/965791/vids_1.html">new videos</a> as well.<br /><br />We don't know which hypothetical group of <span style="font-style: italic;">Onechanbara </span>fans would be considered weirder. We won't make any judgments, in any case. <br />At the risk of recycling the same joke a <span style="font-style: italic;">little</span> too often, D3 has pressed on with its range of live-action viral videos promoting<span style="font-style: italic;"> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/08/onechanbara-better-looking-bikini-zombie-slayers-for-north-amer/">Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</a></span>. Today's pop culture-spoofing clip tells the tale of zombie rap duo "Rest-n-Peace" bemoaning the alleged unwillingness of Asian girls to sleep around. So yes: although tongue-in-cheek, this could be deemed <span style="font-style: italic;">fairly offensive</span>.<br /><br />That's why we're giving you fair warning now: if you thought the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/onechanbara-the-sitcom/">most</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/onechanbara-delivered-in-30-minutes-or-its-free/">recent</a> videos in this series were a bit close to the bone, you're probably going to find the clip past the break <span style="font-style: italic;">more</span> distasteful. The amount of female flesh on display here means this is <span style="font-weight: bold;">NSFW</span> -- unless you have an incredibly tolerant, slightly pervy boss.<br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/23/onechanbara-takes-to-the-streets/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Onechanbara takes to the streets</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/23/onechanbara-takes-to-the-streets/">Onechanbara takes to the streets</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Jan 2009 18:15:00 EST. Okay, we aren't sure who D3 is after with these <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/onechanbara-delivered-in-30-minutes-or-its-free/">live-action</a> <span style="font-style: italic;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/onechanbaras-other-zombie-slayers/">Onechanbara</a> </span><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/31/onechanbara-bikini-zombie-party/">ads</a>. They're corny, but at the same time approach an uncomfortable level of (implied) lasciviousness. Well, we <span style="font-style: italic;">say</span> we aren't sure, but we have a pretty good idea. We've seen enough Spike TV to know how companies think they should advertise to dudes. It's kind of a good thing for them we're <span style="font-style: italic;">already</span> interested in <span style="font-style: italic;">Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;"></span>The newest trailer seems to violate the rules of the world set up in the previous trailers. In other ads, zombies live normal lives and act pretty much like people, but humans hate them anyway. In <span style="font-style: italic;">this</span> trailer ... the humans don't really seem to hate him. And that's the most analysis anyone will ever apply to these ads! <span style="font-style: italic;">Enjoy</span> after the break.<br /><br />We're glad to see D3 getting so much mileage out of that one fake arm, by the way.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/onechanbara-the-sitcom/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Onechanbara: the sitcom</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/onechanbara-the-sitcom/">Onechanbara: the sitcom</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Jan 2009 13:40:00 EST. Did you like the live-action <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/08/onechanbara-better-looking-bikini-zombie-slayers-for-north-amer/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</span></a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/31/onechanbara-bikini-zombie-party/">"Birthday Party" trailer</a>? Maybe you found the silly vignette and its broad acting amusing, or, perhaps, charming? We kind of found its rough edges refreshing as a counterpoint to most superslick advertising. If you found something to enjoy in that previous trailer, then feel free to proceed past the post break for the latest <em>Onechanbara</em>-inspired skit by D3.<br /><br />If you groaned, zombie-style, at that previous trailer, you're <em>probably</em> not going to like this one either. There's a bit of gameplay footage at the end, but there's a <em>lot</em> of silliness before that. <br /><br />
<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/onechanbara-delivered-in-30-minutes-or-its-free/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Onechanbara trailer delivered in 30 minutes or it's free</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/21/onechanbara-delivered-in-30-minutes-or-its-free/">Onechanbara trailer delivered in 30 minutes or it's free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Jan 2009 18:22:00 EST. D3 Publisher is boasting to <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/32774/Ben-10-set-to-be-top-Xmas-brand">MCV</a> that versions of <em>Ben 10: Protector of Earth </em>for Wii, DS, PSP and PS2 have sold a collective 2.5 million copies worldwide. While not nearly as impressive as <em>Gears of War 2's</em> feat of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/12/gears-of-war-2-sells-2-million-2-fast-sets-new-live-record/">selling 2 million</a> in one week, we suspect the cost of development for <em>Ben 10: PoE</em> was quite a bit less (and D3's metric perhaps a bit lower). The title has been in the Top 40 UK software sales consistently since launching October 2007.<br />
<br />
This bravado is not without apt timing, of course, as the publisher is gearing up for the release of <em>Ben 10: Alien Force</em> in February. Expect mediocre reviews for the game and a hefty profit margin for D3 -- behold the power of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/03/thq-profits-show-power-of-licensing/">licensed</a> IP.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/29/d3-pub-confident-its-riding-ben-10-wave-this-holiday/">D3 Pub riding 'Ben 10' wave this holiday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 29 Dec 2008 12:24:00 EST. According to a Siliconera interview with D3 Publisher's Oohashi Toshiro, the US release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/31/onechanbara-bikini-zombie-party/"><em>Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</em></a> will be more than the simple addition of campy English dialogue and text. Specifically, "... the graphics are now in higher resolution in comparison to the Japanese version so we were able to implement and present something that is more visually appealing."<br /> <br />We knew (from another <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/29/d3-wants-to-add-extra-spice-to-onechanbara-bikini-zombie-slayer/">Siliconera interview</a>!) that D3 wanted to put new material into the US version, but this is a global change to the <em>existing</em> content. We continue to be absolutely shocked that D3 is putting so much care into the US release of a notoriously lo-fi action game series. Maybe it'll improve upon the series' reputation! Well, as much as one <em>can</em> raise the reputation of a game series about bikini-clad girls getting covered in zombie blood.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/08/onechanbara-better-looking-bikini-zombie-slayers-for-north-amer/">Onechanbara: better-looking Bikini Zombie Slayers for North America</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Dec 2008 10:00:00 EST. We've seen plenty of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/29/d3-wants-to-add-extra-spice-to-onechanbara-bikini-zombie-slayer/">Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</a>'</em> main characters, Aya and Saki -- perhaps a little <em>too</em> much, in terms of modesty! Tamsoft's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/31/onechanbara-bikini-zombie-party/">embarrassing</a> action-horror game features two more playable characters, both of whom have their own unique idea of appropriate zombie hunting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/24/new-bikini-zombie-slayers-footage-is-light-on-the-bikinis-zombi/">attire</a>.<br /><br />Reiko is one of many clones of the "Original Reiko" created by some unspecified agency of SCIENCE!! She is ordered to take a sample of Aya and Saki's blood (which apparently is the cause of their occasional bouts of blinding rage). Misery also wants the sisters' blood, but to make herself stronger. Our suggestion for increasing combat effectiveness: the crazy chain sword is a good start, but we'd bring some <em>shoes</em> into battle.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/onechanbaras-other-zombie-slayers/">Onechanbara's other Zombie Slayers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 11:55:00 EST. If the latest trailer for the upcoming zombie-slayer <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Oneechanbara/">Onechanbara</a></em> proves anything it's that sometimes shopping can go terribly wrong. <em>Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad</em> lands on the Xbox 360 in mid-December from publisher D3 and developer Tamsoft, the team behind ... uh, well we can't think of anything you'd really know or care about. <em>Toshinden</em>, maybe? But hey, it's a good looking woman wearing a bikini and slaying countless zombies. Basically, the most realistic game ever conceived.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/31/onechanbara-trailer-reveals-women-hate-zombies/">Onechanbara trailer reveals women hate zombies</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 31 Oct 2008 13:00:00 EST. For us, then, it just wouldn't feel like Halloween unless we were inundated with trailers and ads for horror games -- and we think campy ones like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/24/new-bikini-zombie-slayers-footage-is-light-on-the-bikinis-zombi/"><em>Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</em></a> fit the season best of all.<br /><br /><em>Yes</em>, this video is extraordinarily silly ... but it's for <em>Onechanbara.</em> That's pretty much the idea. Remember a long time ago (OK, so it was at 8 a.m) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/eat-lead-the-return-of-matt-hazard-is-a-parody-of-itself/">when we complained</a> about <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Eat-Lead/">Eat Lead</a></em>'s generic game design and other problems we spotted during a demonstration? Well, <em>forget them</em>, because they've just been rendered moot by <em>star power</em>.<br /><br />What kind of stars, you ask? Well, how about Will Arnett of <em>Arrested Development</em> fame as lead Matt Hazard? Still not sold? OK, fair enough. But what if were were to promise ... ready? ... Doogie Houser himself, Neil Patrick Harris as publishing boss Wallace "Wally" Wellesley?! Yeah, we thought you'd change your tune.<br /><br />Take note, game publishers: Put NPH in your games and you can make them as generic as you please. Hell, we're ready to <em>fax</em> D3 our $60, just to make sure we <em>Eat Lead</em> as soon as possible. We're suckers like that.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/will-arnett-neil-patrick-harris-star-in-eat-lead/">Will Arnett, Neil Patrick Harris star in Eat Lead</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Oct 2008 14:26:00 EST. And the developers behind <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/onechanbara/"><em>Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers</em></a> know it, as their game features attractive ladies in sexy outfits. There's also something else in the game that rivals the popularity of hot chicks: lots and lots of carnage. Plus, there're zombies. And <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/29/d3-wants-to-add-extra-spice-to-onechanbara-bikini-zombie-slayer/">extras</a>! There's a lot in this package, that's for sure.<br /><br />This latest trailer for the game takes some CG cutscenes from the game and combines them into one new trailer. With a steamy shower scene, you'll also see some pre-rendered combat, as well as some sunglasses-wearing guy who likes to punch girls in the stomach. Never fear, because Joystiq is on-hand to tell you exactly what's happening on the show floor. Enjoy BlizzCon from the comfort of your desk chair, away from the lines and the crowds and the delicious Diablo 3 gameplay... but we digress. On with the show. See our live coverage of:<br />

Stay tuned for more news from Blizzneyland... er, BlizzCon... throughout the day. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2008-the-experience/">BlizzCon 2008: The Experience</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2008-the-experience/#1091129"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/blizzcon14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2008-the-experience/#1091128"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/blizzcon23_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2008-the-experience/#1091127"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/blizzcon25_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2008-the-experience/#1091126"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/blizzcon19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/blizzcon-2008-the-experience/#1091125"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/blizzcon09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/11/blizzcon-day-one/">BlizzCon, day one</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 11 Oct 2008 15:30:00 EST.
