<br />
The creators of Scribblenauts have ceaselessly documented and cutely illustrated nearly everything in the known universe, so why not turn to the parallel worlds of DC Comics? <em>Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure</em> contains a number of heroes, villains and weirdos - that number being over 2,000.<br />
<br />
Developer 5th Cell claims to have scrutinized every single superpower, series and universe in DC Comics history, all to serve the game's trick of summoning whatever or whoever the player commits to a magical notepad. Maxwell returns as jotting protagonist, joined this time by his twin sister Lily.<br />
<br />
If <em>Scribblenauts Unmasked</em> doesn't have the best Batmans (Batmen?), it certainly has the most at 33 pairs of pointy ears in total, joined by an extravagant 130 Green Lanterns. That emerald grouping includes Mogo, a sentient planet with a lot of gravitational pull in the Green Lantern Corps.<br />
<br />
 <em>Scribblenauts Unmasked</em> is hinged on using adjectives and objects to complete "heroic feats," a bombastic term for puzzles procedurally generated from a dynamic list of DC characters, locations and potential tasks. Custom-built characters can also be thrown into the mix, though only DC's official figures get a written biography on the Batcomputer.<br />
<br />
 <em>Scribblenauts Unmasked</em> will be available on 3DS, Wii U and PC this fall.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scribblenauts-unmasked/">Scribblenauts Unmasked</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scribblenauts-unmasked/#5880244"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/batcave_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scribblenauts-unmasked/#5880245"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/batman-villains_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scribblenauts-unmasked/#5880246"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/cerberus_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scribblenauts-unmasked/#5880247"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/flashes_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/scribblenauts-unmasked/#5880248"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/fortress-entrance_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/scribblenauts-unmasked-amasses-thousands-of-dc-comics-characters/">Scribblenauts Unmasked amasses thousands of DC Comics characters</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 May 2013 09:00:00 EST. According to South African magazine <a href="http://www.nag.co.za/2013/04/23/nag-magazine-may-2013-issue/">NAG</a>, Warner Bros. Montreal passed on Conroy, who played Batman in <em>Arkham Asylum </em>and <em>Arkham City</em>, as well as most of the hero's animated adventures across the last 20 years. NAG says the developer wanted another actor to portray <em>Origins</em>' younger version of the dark knight.<br /><br />The report adds up with WBG Montreal's approach to the upcoming prequel. In a <a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2013/04/26/dc-39-s-geoff-johns-talks-batman-arkham-origins.aspx?PostPageIndex=1">Game Informer</a> interview, DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns explained <em>Origins</em> is about "Batman's initiation into that insane world" of the other Arkham games.<br /><br /><span>"It's called <em>Arkham Origins</em> and it really is the introduction of what Arkham means," Johns told Game Informer. "Arkham evokes a sense of insanity and chaos embodied in the twisted minds and colorful villains of the Batman universe. That had to start somewhere."<br /><br />As revealed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/09/batman-arkham-origins-revealed-on-game-informer-cover-out-oct/">earlier this month</a>, <em>Batman: Arkham Origins</em> swings onto retail shelves this year; the bat-time is October 25, and the bat-channels are PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC. Companion game <em>Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate</em> drops onto the Vita and 3DS on the same day. </span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/29/report-batman-arkham-origins-doesnt-feature-voice-actor-kevin/">Report: Batman Arkham Origins doesn't feature voice actor Kevin Conroy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 29 Apr 2013 15:30:00 EST. According to <a href="http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/04/25/next-scribblenauts-is-a-dc-superheroes-game">IGN</a> sources, the game is currently mired in redesign and may even lose the <em>Scribblenauts Unmasked</em> moniker altogether, though the game is assuredly focused on the DC Comics license.<br /><br />The original design called for a game where Max would embark on adventures to help out DC super heroes, but that may not be indicative of the final product. One scenario detailed includes Max trying to bypass a hungry Killer Croc to infiltrate Wayne Manor through the sewers below. Another anecdote provided presents Max with two seemingly identical police officers, yet one is the villain Clayface and must be discovered.<br /><br />IGN's sources say the game announcement is due at this year's E3, with PC, Wii U and 3DS being listed as supported platforms.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/25/rumor-scribblenauts-dc-comics-game-in-development/">Rumor: Scribblenauts DC comics game in development</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Apr 2013 23:00:00 EST. Twelve different figures are coming in the first run, available only in pre-determined two-packs for $29.95 each.<br /><br />Each figure stands 3.75 inches and has over 20 points of articulation. On May 31, the first two packs will ship: Wonder Woman vs Solomon Grundy and Green Arrow vs Deathstroke. The other packs - Superman vs Nightwing, Flash vs Raven, Aquaman vs Black Adam and Cyborg vs Harley Quinn - will have staggered releases, available this summer on through September.<br /><br />With Batman conspicuously missing from the list of figures, we're left wondering if he's the action figure we want, but not the one we deserve.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/25/dc-promises-injustice-action-figures-among-us-this-summer/">DC promises Injustice action figures among us this summer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Apr 2013 05:30:00 EST. We're not going to spoiler the outcome of either fight, obviously, but we will say that Bane's abilities look very reminiscent of Kabal's from <em>Mortal Kombat</em>, while Harley Quinn has more than a little bit of Mileena about her.<br /><br />The next round of voting starts on February 11, so we're anticipating more videos in a couple weeks.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/08/injustice-gods-among-us-fight-tapes-show-off-bane-harley-quinn/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Injustice: Gods Among Us fight tapes show off Bane, Harley Quinn</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/08/injustice-gods-among-us-fight-tapes-show-off-bane-harley-quinn/">Injustice: Gods Among Us fight tapes show off Bane, Harley Quinn</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Feb 2013 16:30:00 EST. According to unnamed sources speaking with the film industry publication, Rocksteady's currently at work on a "new, highly stylized" Bats prequel game "that revolves around Batman's first meeting with the Joker."<br /><br />This new game - not expected until 2014 at least - is supposedly set in the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Age_of_Comic_Books">Silver Age</a> of comics. Warner Bros. has yet to confirm the news, and Rocksteady hasn't said a peep about any new projects since <em>Arkham City</em> wrapped last year. And as far as we know, no one's discovered any hidden rooms in <em>Arkham City</em> that reveal future games. The Xbox Live version isn't set to launch until tomorrow, but today more than 100 DLC items are available in the Xbox Marketplace, ranging from 80 to 320 MS Points. All of the items are cosmetic and won't affect gameplay in any way, Monolith <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/GothamImpostors/status/166918807280033792">tweeted</a>, and all of them will be unlockable in the full game.<br /><br />We assume it could have been worse -- getting access to optional DLC before a game launches is better than getting access to required, paid-for DLC months <em>after </em>a game launches. The most successful games based on DC Comics properties, like, say, the two recent <em>Batman</em> games, aren't based on movies. Unsurprisingly, then, Warner Bros. sees no particular reason to cross-promote with DC games.<br />
<br />
Warner Bros. Montreal executive producer Reid Schneider told <a href="http://www.canadianbusiness.com/blog/tech/60323--warner-bros-montreal-has-super-aspirations">Canadian Business</a> that WB isn't pushing the studio to tie into movies. "No, we're not going in that direction," Schneider said. "It's really about make the game what it needs to be and forget the movies."<br />
<br />
In fact, it's avoiding movie deadlines, he said, that helps the games become great. "If you look at the similarities between [<a href="http://joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-asylum"><em>Batman: Arkham Asylum</em></a> and Neversoft's 1998 <em>Spider-Man</em> game], they weren't based on movies per se," Schneider said. "They were just taking that really rich fiction from the comic books and exploring the characters. It's not about hitting the movie date or some arbitrary date-it was giving the game the time it needs to be successful and really just concentrating on the quality of it." It's been successful enough that the games are getting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/09/batman-arkham-city-prequel-comic/">their own</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/07/netherream-brings-batman-arkham-city-lockdown-to-ios/">tie-ins</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/09/wb-montreal-focusing-on-great-dc-comics-games-forget-the-movie/">WB Montreal focusing on great DC Comics games, 'forget the movies'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 Dec 2011 21:30:00 EST. The release of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/batman-arkham-city"><em>Batman: Arkham City</em></a> this week marks a nice success for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, a division of the movie studio that started out with the less than popular <em>The Matrix Online</em>, and has slowly built up an empire that includes the <em>Batman</em> franchise, the <em>Lego </em>video games, and the <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a> series. The LA Times has <a href="http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-1018-ct-warner-interactive-20111018,0,7733264.story">a short profile of the company</a>, and goes into detail on how it worked with studios like Traveller's Tales and Netherrealm to build up popular video game franchises that stand on their own even compared to the movie products.<br />
<br />
That's not to say that the plan always works (remember <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/green-lantern-rise-of-the-manhunters">the <em>Green Lantern</em> game</a>?), but Warner Bros. seems to have built up a few solid properties independent of tie-in movies. The next, then, is apparently a <em>Hobbit</em> game -- the article says there will be a game based on <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0903624/">Peter Jackson's movie</a> sometime next year. The company will also release a <em>Lego Batman </em>sequel, and some other casual online games featuring Warner characters.<br />
<br />
Oh, and there's one more: an unannounced game based on a different DC superhero. There's a lot going on in the DC Universe these days, what with the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_52">radically controversial reboot</a> of all its franchises and the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_of_Steel_(film)">new Superman movie</a> that's currently in production, so of course now is the perfect time to announce an iOS Superman title has nothing to do with any of that stuff.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://wireless.ign.com/articles/119/1199960p1.html">IGN reports</a> that veteran iOS publisher <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/chillingo">Chillingo</a> and <em>Denki Blocks!</em> developer Tiger Games (No, not <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Electronics"><em>that</em> Tiger</a>) will bring the last son of Krypton to Apple's mobile operating system, heat-vision and arch-nemesis Lex Luthor in tow. Each level will pit Supes against various sets of challenges, with metals awarded at the completion of each level, ala <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/angry-birds"><em>Angry Birds</em></a>. Little else is known at the moment, but here's hoping it turns out better than <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman_64"><em>Superman 64</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/16/the-man-of-steel-returns-to-video-games-on-ios/">The Man of Steel returns to video games ... on iOS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 16 Oct 2011 12:00:00 EST. Nothing says "high-octane thriller" quite like "novelization." Del Rey books will publish <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/28/original-uncharted-novel-in-the-works-from-del-rey-books/">the first Uncharted novelization</a>, titled "Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth," this October. If you're not so much for diving into a full book, a more bite-sized adventure for Nathan Drake arrives in comic book form starting November 30 from DC Comics.<br />
<br />
Neither work will specifically play into the events of this winter's third Uncharted game for the PlayStation 3, rather seeking to tell side stories in the harrowing life of series protagonist Nathan Drake. It seems that the comic will potentially have Drake heading to a fictional city in the planet's core, while the book sends Drake to ... umm ... New York City. And Egypt and stuff. But, you know, not <em>a city in the center of the planet</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/20/uncharted-novel-arrives-on-oct-4-comic-on-nov-30/">Uncharted novel arrives on Oct. 4, comic on Nov. 30</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Sep 2011 20:10:00 EST. The page-turner is conveniently available in digital format direct from <a href="https://read.dccomics.com/comixology/#/issue/10159/Batman-Arkham-City-1-of-5-">DC Comics</a>, or you can shuffle on down to the local comic shop and nab it for 3 bucks.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/09/batman-arkham-city-prequel-comic/">Initially</a> set to be a six-parter, the miniseries appears to have been shaved down to five issues. Parts 2 and 3 are due next month, with the fourth issue <a href="http://www.dccomics.com/dcu/comics/?cm=18982">slated</a> for late July. The game will be released on October 18.<br />
<br />
Dini, who first started ordering Batman around as a writer and producer for <em>The Animated Series,</em> also wrote the story lines for the two Rocksteady-developed games. He's assisted by <em>Arkham City</em> concept artist Carlos D'Anda, who drew all the pretty pictures for the new comic -- and colored them in too. Check out the full-size cover image of the first issue after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/11/psa-batman-arkham-city-1-prequel-comic-now-available/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PSA: 'Batman: Arkham City #1' prequel comic now available</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/11/psa-batman-arkham-city-1-prequel-comic-now-available/">PSA: 'Batman: Arkham City #1' prequel comic now available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 May 2011 20:30:00 EST. As if there weren't enough <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recurring_enemies_in_the_Mario_series#Shy_Guy">Shy Guy permutations</a> in various Mario games haunting your dreams as it is, custom action figure crafter <a href="http://www.jinsaotomesdangeroustoys.com/">Jin Saotome</a> has gone and created an even more terrifying one than normal. As seen above and more thoroughly on <a href="http://www.angelfire.com/mech/jinsaotome/JinsDangerousToys/ShyGuy.html">his personal site</a>, Saotome's interpretation of Shy Guy is just a tad darker than Nintendo's version.<br />
<br />
Naotome's site details the figure's composition, a careful combination of a PVC Shy Guy character mask, the body of DC Comics' Desaad and the hands of The Spirit, and a gatling gun composed of an Iron Man weapon and a Spawn weapon. The piece is currently up on <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-SHY-GUY-Marvel-Legends-DC-Universe-Super-Mario-/330559816185?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&amp;hash=item4cf6e681f9#ht_5547wt_1002">eBay</a>, fetching around $60 as of midday Friday EST, but it's also <em>really sweet</em> and one-of-a-kind, so you may wanna jump on that soon if Dark Shy Guy is for you.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/06/youll-be-way-into-this-custom-shy-guy-figure/">You'll be way into this custom Shy Guy figure</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 May 2011 19:00:00 EST. "In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware -- holy crap! A bunch of missiles and fighter jets just flew right past me! I bet that if someone were watching my every action from an over-the-shoulder perspective on some sort of three-dimensional display unit, that would have looked really, really awesome!" -<em>Green Lantern Vol. 2, #76, 1970</em><br />
	<br />
	DC Comics and Warner Bros. Interactive have announced that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/green-lantern-rise-of-the-manhunters"><em>Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters</em></a> is now slated for a release on the 3DS, joining the standard DS and console versions. Additionally, the game -- which drops June 7 and ties into the events of the Green Lantern film (which hits theaters June 17) -- will feature a 3D option on PS3 and 360, provided you own the necessary accoutrements. We can only imagine how rad flying around and shooting stuff out of power rings is going to look in a stereoscopic context.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/24/green-lantern-rise-of-the-manhunters-will-shine-in-3d/">Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters will shine in 3D</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Mar 2011 14:00:00 EST. Telltale's adaptation of the <em>Fables</em> comic book series is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2012, the developer announced during a press event last night. Like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-walking-dead"><em>The Walking Dead</em></a> project, the <em>Fables</em> games are part of a mult-year, multi-title deal. At the event, Telltale SVP of marketing, Steve Allison, took special care to note that the developer would "pay homage to the comics as they are written" and that we would encounter more details at Comic-Con this summer.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fables"><em>Fables</em></a>, created by Bill Willingham, follows various fictional characters, from folklore and fairy tales, that have been excommunicated from their realm and forced to live in New York City. Snow White, Pinocchio and the Three Bears are among the familiar characters depicted in the celebrated comic book series.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/18/telltales-first-fables-episode-due-in-q1-2012/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Telltale's first Fables episode due in Q1 2012</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/18/telltales-first-fables-episode-due-in-q1-2012/">Telltale's first Fables episode due in Q1 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Feb 2011 16:00:00 EST. A six-issue <em>Batman: Arkham City</em> miniseries will be available in stores and digitally starting in May, linking the storyline of <em>Batman: Arkham Asylum </em>to the new game.<br />
<br />
<em>Arkham Asylum</em> and <em>Arkham City </em>(and <em>Batman: The Animated Series</em>!) writer Paul Dini is in charge of the comic, while Paul D'Anda, who did concept art for both games, will provide art for the monthly book. In addition, eight-page "digital-first" minicomics will link together each issue of the miniseries, allowing you to experience basically every <em>minute</em> of Batman's life between the first and second games. We look forward to the issue in which he's just sleeping, and Alfred takes the opportunity to do some Bat-laundry.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/09/batman-arkham-city-prequel-comic/">Batman: Arkham City prequel comic series fills the gap between games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Feb 2011 10:55:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">Developer Sucker Punch and DC Comics are teaming up for an <em>inFamous</em> comic book that will bridge protagonist Cole McGrath's story from the first game to the sequel. The book will be written by William Harms, illustrated by Eric Nguyen, and will span six issues. <br />
<br />
Following Cole's revelation at the end of the first game, the comic will explore his <em>move</em> from "Empire City" (a.k.a. NYC) to "New Marais" (you know: New Orleans) to battle <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/06/infamous-2-ravager-gameplay-footage/">creepy, mutant things</a> and prepare for ... well, you should go ahead and finish the first game before reading the comics. It's really good, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/01/joystiqs-top-10-of-2009-infamous/">we promise</a>.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/20/infamous-comic-series-to-explore-time-between-games/">inFamous comic series to bridge gap between games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Dec 2010 23:30:00 EST. Wondering what those announced, but mostly unseen <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dc-direct">DC Direct</a> gaming figures look like? We spotted them this morning at the NY Comic Con, casually posing in a glass case. Most of the items aren't for sale until later this year -- we might find that more troubling if it weren't bank account <em>depletion</em> season (read: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/q4-2010">Q4</a>).<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/">DC Direct at New York Comic Con 2010</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451277"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1087_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451278"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1088_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451281"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1091_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451284"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1093_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dc-direct-at-new-york-comic-con-2010/#3451287"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/10/img1095_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/09/dc-directs-ny-comic-con-offerings-full-of-gaming-all-stars/">DC Direct's NY Comic Con offerings full of gaming all-stars</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 09 Oct 2010 14:00:00 EST. Got a problem with that? No? Good. Drawn by Ben Templesmith (<i>30 Days of Night</i>) it can be seen in full after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/28/this-is-the-third-kane-and-lynch-comic-cover/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>This is the third Kane &amp; Lynch comic cover</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/28/this-is-the-third-kane-and-lynch-comic-cover/">This is the third Kane &amp; Lynch comic cover</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Jul 2010 22:40:00 EST. During a DC Universe panel at this year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/comic-con-2010">San Diego Comic-Con</a>, DC Comics chief creative officer Geoff Johns revealed plans for a game adaptation of the .... less than well-known <em>Suicide Squad. </em>According to <a href="http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/07/23/geoff-johns-spotlight-green-lantern-and-flash-films-suicide-squa/">Comics Alliance</a>, Johns revealed as much during a panel on the ever-expanding DC Universe, only saying that the game would be "hardcore violent." Comics Alliance believes it could be released alongside the film of the same name, currently in-production.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, Johns didn't give any further details, or even an idea of when we might hear more about it. Given that DC Comics HQ isn't too far from our offices, though, we might assemble a Suicide Squad of our own and head over to find out more. We've already said too much!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/26/suicide-squad-game-in-production-says-dcs-geoff-johns/">Suicide Squad game in production, says DC's Geoff Johns</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Jul 2010 14:50:00 EST. Yesterday's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dc-universe-online"><em>DC Universe Online</em></a>-centric Comic-Con panel included a whole cornucopia of surprises for attendees (and potential subscribers). For instance, TV and film star Mark Hamill was there, talking about his role as the nefarious, wide-grinned Joker. Also, everyone in the audience got beta keys, which seemed to please them to no end. Also, it was announced the game wouldn't require a PSN+ subscription to play on the PS3 <em>on top of</em> the standard MMO subscription fee, which was also met with rousing applause.<br />
<br />
The biggest surprise came from comic writer Jim Lee, who announced that <a href="http://comic-con.gamespot.com/story/6270905/dc-universe-onlines-big-bang-set-for-nov-2">the game would drop</a> on November 2. Sure, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/02/dc-universe-online-enters-this-universe-in-november/">we knew</a> it would come at some point during the 11th month, but not <em>two days</em> into it. Why, that's practically late October, if you really think about it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/25/dc-universe-online-preventing-the-apocalypse-nov-2/">DC Universe Online preventing the apocalypse Nov. 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 25 Jul 2010 12:00:00 EST. This will be the first year since the start of the <em>Ratchet &amp; Clank Future</em> series that the franchise will be quiet on the PS3. Fans of Insomniac's space-venturing duo need not fret too much, though. DC Comics' WildStorm imprint is releasing a brand new <em>Ratchet &amp; Clank</em> comic series this September, written by Insomniac's TJ Fixman.<br />
<br />
The new series will follow the events of the last game, <em>A Crack in Time</em>, and should satiate fans' appetites for the series' continuation. The comic will be available in retail stores and on the PSP Digital Comics service.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/24/ratchet-and-clank-comics-coming-september-8/">Ratchet &amp; Clank comics coming September 8</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 24 Jul 2010 02:20:00 EST. Well, Ubisoft has another comic book based on one of its properties ready to roll out at this week's event, this one based on the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Driver-San-Francisco"><em>Driver: San Francisco</em></a>. Unlike its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/15/assassins-creed-comic-confirmed-likely-set-in-russia/"><em>Assassin's Creed</em></a> book, which will just be shown and discussed at a panel, issue 0 of <em>Driver </em>will be given away at the booths of Ubisoft and DC Comics (under whose WildStorm imprint it's being published).<br />
<br />
The series -- no word yet about its planned duration -- is being written by <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stray_Bullets">Stray Bullets</a> </em>scribe David Lapham and Illustrated by Greg Scott (<em>Gotham Central</em>). Its covers artist is Mark "Jock" Simpson, who's probably best known as co-creator of <em>The Losers</em>, a comic which was adapted into a motion picture released back in April. Jock will be signing copies of issue 0 tomorrow through Saturday. We've got the whens and wheres for you -- along with super-sized cover images, in case you can't make it -- just after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/21/driver-comic-series-debuting-at-comic-con/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Driver comic series debuting at Comic-Con</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/21/driver-comic-series-debuting-at-comic-con/">Driver comic series debuting at Comic-Con</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 21 Jul 2010 14:30:00 EST. A major new player has been added to PSP's digital comics reader. DC Comics will begin distributing its comics via the PlayStation Store starting today, with an initial selection of over 80 comics priced from $0.99 to $2.99. Some of the offerings include: <em>Batman: Hush, Green Lantern: Rebirth, God of War, Resistance,</em> and <em>Superman/Batman</em>. A free 10-page preview of <em>Superman #700</em> (pictured) will be available to download, as well.<br />
<br />
In addition, Sony has updated the Digital Comics app to <a href="http://us.playstationcomics.com/main/blog/reader-version-2.html">version 2.01</a>, which adds a number of new features, such as the ability to delete comics directly from the app, and the ability to read right-to-left for Japanese manga titles. To download the update, go to the Digital Comics app from the XMB, hit triangle, and select "Version information."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/23/dc-comics-joins-playstation-network-digital-comics-service/">DC Comics joins PlayStation Network Digital Comics service</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Jun 2010 09:30:00 EST. Square Enix is giving us all a chance to study the backstory of Cavia's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/07/nier-gets-close-in-spring-2010/">action RPG</a>, with a <em>Nier</em> comic series produced by DC's Wildstorm Studios. The three-part series will tell three separate, but overlapping, stories in the <em>Nier </em>universe before the game's April 27 release date.<br />
<br />
In addition to introducing the main characters -- including Nier himself, his "disease-stricken" daughter, Yonah, a "conflicted" companion in Kaine, and the talking book "with an attitude," Grimoire Weiss -- the comics will reveal what caused the "Black Scrawl" disease and the cataclysmic event that led to the condition of the world (as it is in the game).<br />
<br />

The first installment of the six-issue miniseries, for which the full cover art can be seen after the break, provides the background for Dante's demon-slayin': the murder of Beatrice, and Dante's subsequent trip into the abyss to rescue her soul.<br />
<br />
If the concept is something you're into, and if the cover art captures your attention, why not swing by your local comic shop on the way<em> to Hell?</em><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/09/dantes-inferno-comic-descends-into-retail/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Dante's Inferno comic descends into retail</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/09/dantes-inferno-comic-descends-into-retail/">Dante's Inferno comic descends into retail</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Dec 2009 21:15:00 EST. In short, being Batman's roommate is kind of a sucky gig.<br /><br />That's the feeling we came away with after watching <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/video/batman-arkham-home/55021">GameTrailers' video preview</a> (posted after the jump) of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/12/free-playstation-home-batcave-comes-on-batman-arkham-asylum-dis/">the Batcave Home space</a> that's bundled with the PS3 version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/batman-arkham-asylum"><em>Batman: Arkham Asylum</em></a>. Seriously, he keeps all of his sweet toys in inaccessible display cases, he hangs all his vehicles precariously over the kitchen, and makes it so all the TVs in the place run footage of him beating up insane people.<br /><br />We don't know how Robin put up with it for as long as he did.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/27/gametrailers-shows-what-its-like-to-be-batmans-roommate-in-hom/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GameTrailers shows what it's like to be Batman's roommate in Home</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/27/gametrailers-shows-what-its-like-to-be-batmans-roommate-in-hom/">GameTrailers shows what it's like to be Batman's roommate in Home</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Aug 2009 14:45:00 EST. Hyperbole can be venomous to a review's credibility. Any insightful merit which a video game critique may possess seemingly goes out the window as soon as the reviewer starts dropping bombs like "best game ever" or "literally mindblowing" or "it will birth you anew in its magnificence." Perhaps it is because we've all heard these phrases -- save for that last one -- so many times that they've lost their currency with us.<br />
<br />
Rest assured, I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that <span style="font-style: italic;">Batman: Arkham Asylum</span> is unquestionably the best licensed game I've ever played. At the end of the day, however, that's a fairly low hurdle to clear -- it better reflects the game's quality to say it's one of the best stealth-action games ever made, and easily the best video game 2009 has had to offer thus far.<br />

DC Comics subsidiary <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/08/16/wildstorm-to-publish-modern-warfare-2-comic-book/">Wildstorm is about to add another notch</a> to its "video game-to-comic book adaptation" belt, if such a thing weren't too preposterous to exist. The etching can be attributed to its upcoming illustrated stab at Infinity Ward's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a> in a six-part comic mini-arc, which will be aptly titled <em>Modern Warfare 2: Ghost</em>. <br /><br />David Lapham, writer and illustrator of the fantastic <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stray_Bullets"><em>Stray Bullets</em> series</a>, will reprise these roles for the <em>Ghost</em>-ly comics. Robert Bowling revealed the first piece of Lapham's art <a href="http://twitpic.com/dxjdr">on his Twitter yesterday</a> (posted above), but has yet to announce a street date for the comic. Our prediction? Around <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/25/gdc-09-modern-warfare-2-coming-nov-10/">the same time as the game</a>. Our other prediction? All other comics that were supposed to come out in November will be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/delays">delayed until Q1 2010</a>.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Bowling just sent over a friendly message expounding upon a few <em>Modern Warfare 2: Ghost</em> details. The cover art was actually done by Federico Dallocchio, who worked on WildStorm's <em>Gears of War</em> and <em>StarCraft</em> comic adaptations. The rest of the art is being handled by former <em>Guardians of the Galaxy</em> artist Kevin West. Lapham has been tasked with writing the actual story of the mini-series. Thanks for the details, Robert!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/16/wildstorm-publishing-modern-warfare-2-comic-mini-series/">Wildstorm publishing Modern Warfare 2 comic mini-series (update)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 16 Aug 2009 16:00:00 EST. Four sets will be available on December 9: Ratchet &amp; Clank; Armored Ratchet with Mr. Zurkon; Dr. Nefarious with Zoni; and Captain Quark with Scrunch.<br /><br />Each set carries a price tag of $19.99, so they're not cheap. But, if they're anything like the rest of DC's collectible action figures, they won't be cheap looking or feeling, either. Oh, and did we mention that Clank transforms and attaches to Ratchet's back? Maybe they could even teach Michael Bay a thing or two about remaining faithful to your source material.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=5047">VGBlogger</a>]</div>

Lucky you -- Warner Bros. and Rocksteady recently released <a href="http://www.viddler.com/explore/Joystiq/videos/1572/">a behind-the-scenes look</a> at the stealth-action superhero sim, which keen-eyed readers have probably already noticed is posted above.<br /><br />The game's creators do a great job of explaining what makes the game so successful -- elements such as the intensive mocap work done to bring the animations to life, story contributions from DC's Paul Dini, and of course, Rocksteady's own "English sensibilities." We're pretty fond of our American sensibilities <em>thankyouverymuch</em> -- but if that's the secret ingredient that makes <em>Arkham Asylum</em> so rad, we <em>guess</em> we can't complain.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/09/batman-arkham-asylum-dev-diary-has-english-sensibilities/">Batman: Arkham Asylum dev diary has English sensibilities</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 09 Aug 2009 14:30:00 EST. Looking for some supplementary materials for Sony Online Entertainment's utterly adorable, free-to-play MMO <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/free-realms"><em>Free Realms</em></a>? You're in luck. DC Comics brand <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wildstorm">WildStorm</a> and SOE are <a href="http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?loadnews=14448&amp;bhcp=1">teaming up to publish a comic book</a> series based on the popular online game. J.S. Lewis, the author of the <em>Grey Griffins</em> children's book series, will be penning the story, but let's be honest -- you won't be picking up the comics for the <em>story</em>.<br /><br />No, we wager you'll purchase the comics because of the unlockable in-game items they'll contain. The first issue, which drops July 29, includes the "Spider Bite Sword." We imagine the following 11 issues will include equally enticing armaments. If you <em>are</em> interested in the story, you can check out a <a href="http://comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&amp;id=3082&amp;disp=table">brief preview of Issue no. 1 right here</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.massively.com/2009/07/22/free-realms-comic-to-be-released-on-july-29th/">Massively</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/free-realms-comic-coming-july-29-includes-in-game-bonuses/">Free Realms comic coming July 29, includes in-game bonuses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Jul 2009 05:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/EA/">EA</a> announced today that it's collaborating with <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/dc-comics">DC Comics</a> and Wildstorm to create a comic mini-series based on its upcoming demon slay-'em-up, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/dantes-inferno"><em>Dante's Inferno</em></a>. The comic is to be written by <a href="http://web.mac.com/christosgage/iWeb/christosgage.com/Welcome.html">Christos Gage</a>, who has worked on <em>X-Men</em>, <em>Spider-Man</em> and ... <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0283043/"><em>Teenage Caveman</em></a>. It will be illustrated by <a href="http://www.diegolatorre.com/">Diego Latorre</a>, known for his work on <em>The Incredible Hulk</em>. The series is to span six issues with the first going on sale this December. <br /><br />A preview issue of the comic will be distributed at the San Diego Comic-Con this week at the EA and DC booths. Also to be revealed at the Comic-Con: the first trailer for the <em>Dante's Inferno </em>animated feature.<br /><br />With both a comic series and an animated feature on the way, <em>Dante's Inferno</em> is becoming quite the franchise. Frankly, we can't <em>wait</em> for the novelization.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/20/dantes-inferno-spawns-dc-comic/">Dante's Inferno spawns DC comic</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009 20:15:00 EST. Okay, okay, maybe not <em>directly</em>, but by way of Joker setting up a nasty ruse for Gotham's greatest hero at Arkham Asylum itself. Trapping Mr. Wayne inside with all of his most fearsome enemies, when he thought he was just stopping by to deposit a criminal, leaves him at the mercy of the now-in-control Joker.<br /><br />From <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/hands-on-batman-arkham-asylum/">what we played</a> of the game's campaign back at <a href="http://e3.joystiq.com">E3</a>, we're not sure exactly how Eidos/Warner Bros. plan to keep the game's T-rating, as evidenced by the few gameplay snippets you see in the developer diary above. We are, however, surprisingly excited for the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/29/batman-arkham-asylum-committed-to-retail-aug-25-in-na-aug-28/">release in late August</a> -- and glad we don't have to bring along Mom to buy us the game.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/batman-arkham-asylum-2/">Batman: Arkham Asylum</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/batman-arkham-asylum-2/#1457066"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/highres_screenshot_00002_resize-3272009-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/batman-arkham-asylum-2/#1330325"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/batman.arkham.asylum1-1302009-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/batman-arkham-asylum-2/#1457067"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/intensive_treatment_17_resize-3272009-9_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/batman-arkham-asylum-2/#1330326"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/02/batman.arkham.asylum2-1302009-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/batman-arkham-asylum-2/#1457068"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/highres_screenshot_00112_resize-3272009-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/02/new-batman-arkham-asylum-dev-diary-gives-batman-a-terrible-even/">New Batman: Arkham Asylum dev diary gives Batman a terrible evening</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Jul 2009 22:45:00 EST. Why miss, you look awfully proud of yourself. Is it because you had the gumption to down a brumak or did you look down and realize that you were drawn by comic book icon <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Lee">Jim Lee</a>? Just go on sitting inappropriately atop that beastie's noggin while you mull it over.<br /><br />Calling <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gears-of-war"><em>Gears of War</em></a> "visceral yet elegant," Lee will illustrate the cover for the #9 issue of DC's comic book adaptation, which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/18/dc-comics-to-publish-gears-of-war-series/">launched in late 2008</a> under the company's Wildstorm imprint. The issue is said to introduce a new character to the story, who we'd guess is miss sassy pants up there. According to the publisher, the series has enjoyed success so far among comic book enthusiasts, with the first two issues completely selling through their initial printing. The Jim Lee-covered issue is expected to fill collectors' pull lists in July, while a second alternate cover by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/epic">Epic's</a> art director Chris Perna is promised as well. Now, climb down off that thing, you're making us nervous.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/24/jim-lee-to-illustrate-gears-comic-cover/">Jim Lee to illustrate Gears of War comic cover</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Apr 2009 08:32:00 EST.
