Moreover, the new batch of greenlit games includes a few recognizable names, including MMORPGs <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/darkfall-unholy-wars"><em>Darkfall: Unholy Wars</em></a> and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/dawn-of-fantasy"><em>Dawn of Fantasy</em></a>, and, yes, laserdisc classic <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dragons-lair"><em>Dragon's Lair</em></a>.<br /><br />Digital Leisure, who only this year brought <em>Dragon's Lair</em> to Xbox Live Arcade, will now deliver the 1983 arcade game on Steam. As with the XBLA release, the Steam port will feature remastered game footage in 720p high definition.<br /><br />We have the full list of advanced software after the break. <p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/30/steam-greenlight-advances-13-more-games-including-dragons-lair/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Steam Greenlight advances 13 more games, including Dragon's Lair</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/30/steam-greenlight-advances-13-more-games-including-dragons-lair/">Steam Greenlight advances 13 more games, including Dragon's Lair</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Nov 2012 11:45:00 EST. However, publisher Digital Leisure managed to surprise us anyway -- with Kinect support.<br /><br />You can play Dragon's Lair normally, or you can respond to on-screen prompts with the correct motion. Examples shown in screens include jumping away from a crumbling floor or reaching up to grab a rope. <br /><br />That makes Dragon's Lair an unlikely technological trailblazer: according to PlayXBLA, it'll be the first XBLA game to support both the Kinect and the traditional controller. Assuming it arrives before <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/16/steel-battalion-heavy-armor-uses-xbox-360-controller-and-kinect/"><em>Steel Battalion</em></a>, of course.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/20/dragons-lair-xbla-dares-to-add-kinect-controls/">Dragon's Lair XBLA dares to add Kinect controls</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Mar 2012 10:30:00 EST. That merits at least a reserved "Yee-haw." Engine's VP of development Ruud van de Moosdijk told Nintendo World Report that the downloadable six-shooter shooter will be released "very soon." Engine tracked down publisher Digital Leisure and asked for the rights to create a 3DS version.<br /><br />You might be thinking that it seems prohibitively expensive to remaster a random arcade game like that, full of real recorded video, in 3D. You're probably right. Whatever the reason, Engine is opting not to use stereoscopic 3D for the port. " "There's really no 3D in the 3DS version," van de Moosdijk said, "because how were you gonna do that?"<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/10/fmv-light-gun-game-mad-dog-mccree-coming-to-3ds/">FMV light gun game Mad Dog McCree coming to 3DS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 10 Mar 2012 22:30:00 EST. Hello, my name is Justin McElroy, and I play a character called "Justin McElroy" on the popular Joystiq web site and podcast. I hope you'll indulge me for a second as I regale you with a story of my misspent youth. When I was growing up, I was always transfixed by FMV games. I begged and pleaded for a Sega CD, I've finished <em><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gOPpLXEOS4">Dracula Unleashed</a> </em>more times than I care to admit ... hell, I own two copies of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9hHdFbGevg"><em>Wirehead</em></a>. To this day, I don't understand the draw of these oft-clunky classics, but it's nothing I can escape or reason away. Before I'd reached my 15th birthday, I swore to friends, family, anyone who would listen that I would one day be the "world's greatest FMV gaming journalist."<br />
<br />
You, with the privilege of a dozen years of insight on my younger self, know how this story ends. FMV games have, for reasons beyond me, fallen by the wayside. You now know that the deviant, cretinous masses would prefer to see digital puppets dance on a screen than real humans -- their <em>brethren </em>-- leading out real, interactive drama in front of real, low-quality cameras. <br />
<br />
But today, if only for a moment, I have managed to wash the bitter flavor of unfulfilled dreams from my palate. For today, I have written a post about <em>The 7th Guest </em>on iPhone, and I'm following it up with this:<br />
<br />
An HD version of <em>Dragon's Lair </em>is now on iPad. It costs five dollars.<br />
<br />
That's two FMV posts ... in a row. Maybe a drop in the bucket to 15-year-old Justin, who dreamed of visiting the set of <em>Sewer Shark 3</em> and sitting down to heartfelt, career-spanning interviews with <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0226869/">Rusty Dillen</a>. But today, for nearly 30-year-old Justin, it's enough.<br />
<br />
God bless.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/02/dragons-lair-hd-comes-to-ipad/">Dragon's Lair HD comes to iPad</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Nov 2010 12:00:00 EST. The iPhone will add another title to its ever growing library of FMV games this week. Following in the footsteps of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dragons-lair"><em>Dragon's Lair</em></a>, <em>Space Ace</em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/14/iphone-it-in-cobra-command/"><em>Cobra Command</em></a>, <em>Brain Dead 13</em> <a href="http://twitter.com/digitalleisure/statuses/26462242651">will be added</a> to the App Store this Friday by Digital Leisure. The game stars Lance, computer expert and '90s fashion victim, who is sent to a castle to fix the supercomputer of an evil genius. If you're unfamiliar with the fifteen-year-old title, the video after the break should pretty much get you up to speed.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/06/brain-dead-13-coming-to-app-store-on-friday/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Brain Dead 13 coming to App Store on Friday</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/06/brain-dead-13-coming-to-app-store-on-friday/">Brain Dead 13 coming to App Store on Friday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 06 Oct 2010 08:30:00 EST. Digital Leisure and publisher Destineer are partnering to release Dragon's Lair Trilogy on Wii this fall. <br />
<br />
Despite the name, the "Trilogy" is only two-thirds <em>Dragon's Lair</em>: in addition to <em>Dragon's Lair</em> and <em>Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp</em>, the disc will include <em>Space Ace</em>. And for those of you who want to watch the remastered animation, but who <em>firmly</em> insist that these aren't video games, you can remove any vestige of interactivity and just enjoy the games in "Watch Mode." <br />

The collection will retail for $30, which is relatively good news for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/29/a-daring-dragons-lair-game-collection/">this guy</a>.<br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/30/dragons-lair-trilogy-for-wii-one-step-closer-to-porting-dragon/">Dragon's Lair Trilogy for Wii: one step closer to porting Dragon's Lair to everything</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Jul 2010 16:20:00 EST. Now, you'll be able to assemble the dance track of your dreams on Wii, thanks to Digital Leisure. The publisher is releasing <em>Mix Superstar</em> on WiiWare sometime this year.<br />
<br />
Mix Superstar contains over 1,000 royalty-free samples that you can assemble into your own tracks, with the addition of vocals from a USB mic or Wii Speak. Songs can be downloaded or sent to friends via WiiConnect24. New loops can be purchased as DLC.<br />
<br />
Check out a trailer for the musical toy after the break.<br />

Do you <em>love</em> light gun games? You're going to be <em>thrilled</em> about this upcoming WiiWare release from Digital Leisure. This Monday, you'll be able to shoot several of those actors in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_Draw_Showdown"><em>Fast Draw Showdown</em></a> on WiiWare.<br />
<br />
Originally released to arcades in 1994, <em>Fast Draw Showdown</em> is a series of -- what else? -- showdowns against various Old West stereotypes, culminating in a match against real-life quick draw expert <a href="http://www.palominas.com/gun_for_hire.htm">Wes Flowers</a>. There's a trailer after the break -- if you pretend to shoot at everyone on the screen, it'll be just like playing the game!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/29/fast-draw-showdown-shows-up-on-wiiware-jan-5/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fast Draw Showdown shows up on WiiWare Jan. 5</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/29/fast-draw-showdown-shows-up-on-wiiware-jan-5/">Fast Draw Showdown shows up on WiiWare Jan. 5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Dec 2009 22:45:00 EST. We expect this kind of thing from <em>Tetris </em>or <em>Resident Evil 4</em>, but whoever thought that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dragons-lair"><em>Dragon's Lair</em></a> would be appearing on so many consoles? It appeared on the iPhone just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/05/ea-dragging-dragons-lair-to-iphone/">a week ago</a>, and now the FMV adventure is (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/13/usk-digital-leisure-daring-to-put-dragons-lair-on-dsiware/">as rumored</a>) set to appear on DSiWare on Dec. 21 in North America and Jan. 1. <br />
<br />
Now, considering none of the DSiWare releases have been particularly large, we have no clue how they'll fit the whole game on the service. We do know <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/03/dragons-lair-becomes-even-more-linear-on-the-ds/">from this video</a>, however, that the console is powerful enough to handle the game. Now, the next obvious step in <em>Dragon's Lair</em>'s quest for console domination? Well, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Zeebo/">Zeebo</a>, of course.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/15/dragons-lair-headed-to-dsiware-dec-21/">Dragon's Lair headed to DSiWare Dec. 21</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Dec 2009 15:15:00 EST. If you thought <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/23/nintendoware-weekly-bit-trip-void-super-mario-kart-a-boy-and/#continued">last week's NintendoWare Weekly update</a> was huge, well ... you'll probably think the same thing about this week's update! That's mostly because Nintendo provides quite the overweight offering this time, with a total of ten new titles available for your post-Thanksgiving download. Loosen that belt and make some room for more by heading past the break for the full list of this week's releases.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/nintendoware-weekly-tales-of-monkey-island-bookworm-the-comba/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: Tales of Monkey Island, Bookworm, The Combatribes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/nintendoware-weekly-tales-of-monkey-island-bookworm-the-comba/">NintendoWare Weekly: Tales of Monkey Island, Bookworm, The Combatribes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Nov 2009 12:00:00 EST. It's the full laserdisc game, in much better visual quality than most ports, on a handheld platform for five bucks. If you don't, it's <em>just another FMV game, and everyone knows those aren't real games anyway</em>. <br /><br />A German USK rating suggests that Digital Leisure is planning to port its predecessor, <em>Dragon's Lair</em>, to DSiWare. While we have no doubt that the DS hardware can run the game -- in fact, a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/03/dragons-lair-becomes-even-more-linear-on-the-ds/"><em>Dragon's Lair</em> conversion</a> has been in progress for years by United Coders, and we wouldn't be surprised if that's what this is -- the file size is an issue. <em>Space Ace</em> on iPhone takes up 243MB, which is much larger than any DSiWare game. We hope Digital Leisure comes up with a solution for this issue other than porting the NES <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/24/dragons-lair-on-nes-might-be-the-worst-game-ever/"><em>Dragon's Lair</em></a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=100334">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/13/usk-digital-leisure-daring-to-put-dragons-lair-on-dsiware/">USK: Digital Leisure daring to put Dragon's Lair on DSiWare</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Oct 2009 17:00:00 EST. That <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/31/rumor-gamefly-shows-mad-dog-mccree-setting-sights-on-wii/">Gamefly listing</a> for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mad-dog-mccree"><em>Mad Dog McCree</em></a> was spot on, apparently, as the title has shipped to retail. Majesco just sent us a press release revealing the company will be bringing a few of Digital Leisure's live-action light-gun classics to a Wii near you, pricing this compilation at a very reasonable $19.99 MSRP. <em>Mad Dog McCree Gunslinger Pack</em> features three classics: <em>Mad Dog McCree</em>; <em>Mad Dog 2: The Lost Gold</em>; and <em>The Last Bounty Hunter</em>.<br /><br />You won't be forced to go it alone in each of these adventures either, as this compilation also adds a bit of multiplayer flair. There will be both Posse and Rebel modes, the former allowing up to four players to work side-by-side for a high score, and the latter allows up to four players to work independently, shooting things to gain the highest score of the bunch.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/16/mad-dog-mccree-blasts-his-way-to-wii-with-the-gunslinger-pack/">Mad Dog McCree blasts his way to Wii with the Gunslinger Pack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Jun 2009 20:40:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/20/what-is-the-incredible-maze/"><em>The Incredible Maze</em></a> is based on a simple, solid game concept: the wooden "labyrinth" toy. You know the one: you turn dials to tilt a wooden maze so that a ball rolls to the destination point without falling into strategically-placed holes. This concept is the basis for <em>Super Monkey Ball, Kororinpa,</em> and even (sort of) <em>Mercury Meltdown Revolution.</em> The Wii Remote, which can be physically <em>tilted</em> to control gameplay, seems like a natural for this sort of thing.<br /><br />It's harder than it looks to implement good tilt control on the Wii, however. And <em>The Incredible Maze's</em> tilt controls take what would otherwise be a pretty benign game and ruin it.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/23/wii-fanboy-review-the-incredible-maze/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii Fanboy Review: The Incredible Maze</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/23/wii-fanboy-review-the-incredible-maze/">Wii Fanboy Review: The Incredible Maze</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Oct 2008 13:37:00 EST. What is it? Well, now we know, thanks to the Nintendo Channel. If we may say so, it doesn't look all that bad. And it's only 500 Points.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/20/what-is-the-incredible-maze/">What is The Incredible Maze?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Oct 2008 16:27:00 EST.
