The proprietor lets the pup out of its cage to play with you, and the dog can't hide its excitement to run and play with all the toys in the room. It barks happily and licks the screen to simulate licking your face.<br /><br />Its barks sound just enough like your name, but just different enough, that you question what you heard.<br /><br />Then, after you choose to exit the demo, the virtual puppy goes back into its cage, whimpering. The last thing you see before you close the 3DS lid is your puppy's paw up against the screen. Occasionally you'll receive a note via SpotPass telling you that the little scamp still looks out the window whenever a car the same model as yours drives by.<br /><br />We didn't design the real demo.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/23/nintendoware-weekly-nintendogs-cats-demo-2-fast-4-gnomz/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NintendoWare Weekly: Nintendogs + Cats demo, 2 Fast 4 Gnomz</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/23/nintendoware-weekly-nintendogs-cats-demo-2-fast-4-gnomz/">NintendoWare Weekly: Nintendogs + Cats demo, 2 Fast 4 Gnomz</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Feb 2012 13:20:00 EST. That's <em>amazingly</em> convenient! The only inconvenient part of it is finding the right games to buy -- and that's where we come in, with our <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/portabliss">Portabliss</a> column. In each installment, we'll tell you about a downloadable game on the iPhone, iPad, Android device, DSi, 3DS, PSP, etc. Today: <span style="font-style: italic;">Dillon's Rolling Western</span> for 3DS.</font><hr size="2" style="padding-left: 5px; " width="100%" /><center> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/22/portabliss-dillons-rolling-western-3ds/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/dillon1.jpg" style="border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-top-style: solid; border-right-style: solid; border-bottom-style: solid; border-left-style: solid; margin-left: 4px; margin-right: 4px; margin-top: 4px; margin-bottom: 4px; width: 530px; height: 318px; " /></a></center>As an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/22/dillons-rolling-western-rolls-on-to-the-3ds-eshop/">unexpected early release</a> for the 3DS eShop, <em>Dillon's Rolling Western</em> isn't too surprising in and of itself. It combines elements of exploration, action and tower defense (and talking animals) to create something of a hybrid. Enter: Dillon, a cowboy, an armadillo and a gun for hire, although he doesn't actually use a gun, preferring instead to roll directly into adversaries with his armored hide.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rolling-western-e3-2011/">Dillon's Rolling Western (E3 2011)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rolling-western-e3-2011/#4207147"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/3dsrollwest1scrn01e3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rolling-western-e3-2011/#4207148"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/3dsrollwest2scrn02e3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rolling-western-e3-2011/#4207149"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/3dsrollwest3scrn03e3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rolling-western-e3-2011/#4207150"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/3dsrollwest4scrn04e3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/rolling-western-e3-2011/#4207151"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/3dsrollwest5scrn05e3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/23/portabliss-dillons-rolling-western-3ds/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Portabliss: Dillon's Rolling Western (3DS)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/23/portabliss-dillons-rolling-western-3ds/">Portabliss: Dillon's Rolling Western (3DS)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Feb 2012 10:00:00 EST. The game stars the armadillo cowboy -- a cowboy who is also an armadillo, not an armadillo <em>herder</em> -- named Dillon, who defends poor towns in traditional gunslinger style. Except he doesn't use a gun at all, actually, preferring to roll his way to victory. <em>Rolling Western</em> features tower defense gameplay, in which Dillon must collect resources and repel the invasion of evil rock monsters -- monsters who are also rocks, that is, not Osbournes -- the Grocks.<br /><br />About that surprise release: it's <em>today</em>, a full day before the usual Thursday eShop update. You can snag <em>Dillon's Rolling Western</em> for $10. If you're still on the fence, we'll have a <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/portabliss">Portabliss</a> on it later today.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/22/dillons-rolling-western-rolls-on-to-the-3ds-eshop/">Dillon's Rolling Western rolls onto the 3DS eShop</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Feb 2012 09:39:00 EST. <br />
Nintendo's inaugural "Nintendo Direct" presentation in Japan also came with a host of new trailers for 3DS games. Above, new footage of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/kingdom-hearts-3d"><em>Kingdom Hearts 3D</em></a>, which we regret to inform you, continues to be called <em>Dream Drop Distance</em>.<br />
<br />
After the break, you can see two videos for <em>Monster Hunter Tri-G</em>, and a couple of new games. The first is a retail game from Banpresto called <em>Lost Heroes</em>, which puts Ultraman, Gundam, and Kamen Rider characters in the same dungeon-crawler world, and is thus super unlikely to see release outside of Japan. The second is an eShop game called <em>Nimble Sakura Samurai</em>, a simple action game in which you dodge and slice enemies.<br />
<br />
There are even more videos than that on <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/nintendo_direct/index.html">Nintendo's site</a>, if you want to see trailers for <em>Dillon's Rolling Western</em> or Koei's fashion game <em>FabStyle</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/21/nintendo-direct-trailers-monster-hunter-tri-g-kingdom-hearts-3/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Nintendo Direct trailers: Monster Hunter Tri-G, Kingdom Hearts 3D, more</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/21/nintendo-direct-trailers-monster-hunter-tri-g-kingdom-hearts-3/">Nintendo Direct trailers: Monster Hunter Tri-G, Kingdom Hearts 3D, more</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Oct 2011 14:30:00 EST.
