A week after being <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/23/mafia-2-directors-cut-revealed-by-amazon/">ratted out</a> by Amazon, 2K Games has officially announced the <em>Mafia 2</em> re-release. While the PC version will retain the "Director's Cut" branding, as seen on Amazon, the console re-releases will be labeled as part of the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/@ps3,greatest-hits/">Greatest Hits</a>" series for PS3 and "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/@xbox,platinum-hits/">Platinum Hits</a>" collection for Xbox 360.<br />
<br />
All versions will include the same bonus content: the "Betrayal of Jimmy," "Jimmy's Vendetta" and "Joe's Adventures" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/mafia-2,dlc">DLC</a>, plus the four, once-retail-exclusive style packs. The best part: These editions are available at "select retailers" <em>right now</em> -- and for $30 apiece -- with more retail availability to follow next month. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mafia-2-directors-cut-360-ps3-pc-0/">Mafia 2 (Director's Cut box art)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mafia-2-directors-cut-360-ps3-pc-0/#4013885"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/mafia33001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mafia-2-directors-cut-360-ps3-pc-0/#4013886"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/mafia33002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/mafia-2-directors-cut-360-ps3-pc-0/#4013888"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/mafia33003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/30/30-mafia-2-re-release-includes-all-dlc-available-now/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>$30 Mafia 2 re-release includes all DLC, available now</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/30/30-mafia-2-re-release-includes-all-dlc-available-now/">$30 Mafia 2 re-release includes all DLC, available now</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Mar 2011 15:55:00 EST. <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=232745"> <em>Assassin's Creed 2</em></a> on PC will apparently land at European retailers (both digital and brick-and-mortar, presumably with both hidden blades extended) on March 4, an Ubisoft rep has told Joystiq. Like the North American iteration, <em>AC2</em> on PC will have the "Battle for Forli" and "Bonfire of the Vanities" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2,%20DLC">DLC packs</a> included in the "Director's Cut" version of the game. You've got about two months to get started on building that dream PC you've <em>always wanted</em> to handle <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/25/assassins-creed-2-pc-specs-date-revealed/">the game's specs</a> -- we suggest you get crackin' <em>immediately</em>.<br />

Remember when it was first announced that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5"><em>Resident Evil 5</em></a> wasn't coming to the Wii, and fans got really upset, because <em>Resident Evil 4</em> on the Wii was <em>totally awesome</em>? It seems that decision wasn't made due to Capcom's oversight of said <em>awesomeness</em> -- rather, it looks like they chose to bring that experience to the PS3 with the ball-pointed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/playstation-motion-controller">PlayStation Motion Controller</a>.<br /> <br /> Seriously, check out <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgDV48JbYXw">this gameplay sample</a> (video posted after the break) from Sony's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tgs-2009">TGS</a> keynote and tell us that doesn't look <em>exactly</em> like <em>RE4</em> on the Wii. Okay, the PS3 version is significantly prettier -- and due to the fact that Sony's controller has no nunchuck (which forces the player to hold a SIXAXIS in one hand and the wand in another) the controls look<em> a bit</em> more awkward this time around.<br /> <br /> [Via <a href="http://www.vg247.com/2009/09/25/video-of-re5-working-with-ps3-motion-controller/">VG247</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/25/tgs-2009-motion-controlled-resident-evil-5-caught-on-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>TGS 2009: Motion-controlled Resident Evil 5 caught on video</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/25/tgs-2009-motion-controlled-resident-evil-5-caught-on-video/">TGS 2009: Motion-controlled Resident Evil 5 caught on video</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Sep 2009 15:23:00 EST. During Sony's second press conference at the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom's Jun Takeuchi took the stage to demo the PlayStation 3's new motion controller with his game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5"><em>Resident Evil 5</em></a>. That's right, Sony will be bringing motion control to a handful of existing titles, including a re-released <em>RE5</em> in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/23/resident-evil-5-directors-cut-to-feature-jill/"><em>Resident Evil 5: Director's Cut</em></a> this coming Spring.<br /><br />Sony also showed off <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> being controlled by two people, one wielding a motion wand while the other used a DualShock 3. Apparently a mess of other titles will be getting the motion treatment -- 13 in total (<strike><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-2-gallery/2311978/">seen here</a>, mostly in Japanese </strike> see update below) -- with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/flower"><em>Flower</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pain"><em>Pain</em></a> standing out as notable examples. <br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> We've got the full list <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/playstation-motion-controller-on-track-for-spring-2010-release/">right here</a>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-2-gallery/">Sony 2 gallery</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-2-gallery/#2312003"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/sony-keynote-2-028-rm-eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-2-gallery/#2312002"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/sony-keynote-2-033-rm-eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-2-gallery/#2312001"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/sony-keynote-2-011-rm-eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-2-gallery/#2312000"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/sony-keynote-2-018-rm-eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sony-2-gallery/#2311999"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/sony-keynote-2-007-rm-eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/24/tgs-2009-sony-adding-motion-to-existing-titles-new-re5-with-mo/">TGS 2009: Sony adding motion to existing titles, new RE5 with motion coming Spring 2010 [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Sep 2009 01:30:00 EST. Well, maybe <em>featuring</em> Jill is not quite accurate -- "it's gonna be, uh, at least, <em>somewhat</em> involving Jill Valentine," confirms voice of Jill, Patricia Ja Lee, fresh from recording new voice and perhaps mocap work for <em>Resident Evil 5: Director's Cut</em>. That's right: <em>Resident Evil 5: Director's Cut</em>. It seems that P.J. Lee has also inadvertently announced a new, more twisting, more turning version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/resident-evil-5/"><em>RE5</em></a> in the works.<br /><br />What else do we know? "It's some <em>good</em> scenes." Catch the full blab after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/23/resident-evil-5-directors-cut-to-feature-jill/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>'RE5: Director's Cut' to feature Jill, voice of Jill spills</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/23/resident-evil-5-directors-cut-to-feature-jill/">'RE5: Director's Cut' to feature Jill, voice of Jill spills</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Sep 2009 19:01:00 EST. CD Projekt's role-playing game <em>The Witcher</em> is getting <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/59531">another update</a>, adding to the content found in the 2008 <em>Enhanced Edition</em> release. Owners of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/The-Witcher-Enhanced-Edition/">The Witcher: Enhanced Edition</a></em> will be able to upgrade to the game's <em>Director's Cut</em> free-of-charge via patch. Along with adding updates found in the recent 1.5 patch -- which removed <em>The Witcher</em>'s DRM and added new community-created content -- the <em>Director's Cut</em> will restore nudity previously removed from the North American release of the (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/11/cd-projekt-going-seriously-overboard-on-the-witcher-enhanced-ed/">overly buxom</a>) <em>Enhanced Edition</em>. If staring at digital lady and man <em>bits</em> from<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_Engine"> an engine that got its original start in 2002</a> is your <em>thing</em>, <em>The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut</em> is the definitive edition you seek.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/stop-the-presses-witcher-directors-cut-adds-nudity/">Stop the presses: Witcher Director's Cut adds nudity</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 02:00:00 EST. The Watchmen are coming to Blu-ray on July 28th. The only version of the film offered on the Blu-ray disc will be the Director's Cut, which adds 28 minutes to the film's already lengthy run time. In addition to a new 190 minute cut, the Blu-ray version of Watchmen will also include a number of Blu-ray exclusive special features, such as "Maximum Movie Mode" which allows viewers to watch the movie with split-screen on-camera commentary. Two features will also be exclusive to the Blu-ray release: "Real Super Heroes, Real Vigilantes" and "Mechanics: Technologies of a Fantastic World."<br />

Whether or not you loved or hated the film, we're glad to see Warner Bros. add more exclusive content to its BD releases. For fans of the film, the opportunity to see about half an hour more of Dr. Manhattan <em>in 1080p</em> is sure to be a treat.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/13/watch-the-directors-cut-of-watchmen-on-blu-ray/">Watch the Director's Cut of Watchmen on Blu-ray</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 May 2009 13:00:00 EST. Are you itching to get your hands on the much anticipated (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/final-fantasy-xiii-petition-video-is-an-instant-comedy-classic/">and highly controversial</a>) <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Final%20Fantasy%20XIII">Final Fantasy XIII</a></em>, yet you're not hip enough to get invited to Square Enix's exclusive soirees? If you live in Japan, your first chance to overcome your wicked <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triskaidekaphobia">triskaidekaphobia</a> <a href="http://dvd.ign.com/articles/896/896058p1.html">will come in the form of a <em>FFXIII </em>demo</a>, packaged with the Blu-ray directors cut of the CGI feature film, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Final%20Fantasy%3A%20Advent%20Children">Final Fantasy: Advent Children</a></em>. You know, the <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0173840/">Buscemi-less</a> CGI <em>Final Fantasy</em> movie.<br /><br />Square Enix revealed both film (titled <em>Advent Children Complete</em>) and demo <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/896/896066p1.html?RSSwhen2008-08-02_090800&amp;RSSid=896066">at their DK&Sigma;3713 event</a>, with a Japanese release date of March 2009. The demo will also include video previews of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Final%20Fantasy%20Agito%20XIII">Final Fantasy Agito XIII</a> </em>and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Versus%20XIII">Versus XIII</a></em> (which they took care to mention is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/final-fantasy-xiii-not-available-on-360-in-japan-versus-xiii-st/">still a PS3 exclusive</a>). Squeenix also announced a new PS3 SKU that will include the Blu-ray directors cut. What they didn't announce, however, was the American release date of the film -- and whether the demo and bundle will even make it to American shores.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/02/japanese-blu-ray-advent-children-includes-ffxiii-demo-will-come/">Japanese Advent Children directors cut includes FFXIII demo, will come in new PS3 bundle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 02 Aug 2008 18:00:00 EST.
