We see a lot of neat, homemade tchotchkes designed by gaming's most craftwise enthusiasts. But nothing has made us want to jump through the internet and steal such a creation quite like Jonathan Guberman's <em>Portal 2</em> turret plushie. Check out the <em>adorable</em> demo here.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/26/adorable-talking-portal-turret-plushie-probably-wont-shoot-you/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Adorable, talking Portal turret plushie probably won't shoot you</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/26/adorable-talking-portal-turret-plushie-probably-wont-shoot-you/">Adorable, talking Portal turret plushie probably won't shoot you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 26 Apr 2011 19:14:00 EST. Majesco is bringing that same idea to a much more mainstream game: the previously <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/04/21/cooking-mama-creator-trademarks-babysitting-mama/">trademarked</a> <em>Babysitting Mama</em>.<br />
<br />
Using a plush baby into which you have tucked a Wiimote -- and also using the Nunchuk that is somehow hanging out of this plush baby or something -- you play 40 minigames in the usual <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/cooking-mama">Cooking Mama</a></em> style; representing tasks like feeding and changing a baby, or rocking it to sleep. The game will feature six different virtual babies with unique personalities, though you'll be using the same proxy doll to manipulate all the e-babies.<br />
<br />
<em>Babysitting Mama</em> is due out this holiday. Unfortunately, Majesco has yet to release an image of the doll, so we can't yet gauge how creeped out we're going to be by this game.<br />

Seeing a Wii Remote shoved down the throat of an adorable plush doll clued us in. Certainly this had to be another fake Wii game, a la <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/18/mass-we-pray-is-almost-certainly-a-hoax/"><em>Mass: We Pray</em></a>!<br />
<br />
However, it didn't take long for this trailer to work its magic on our cold, Scrooge-like hearts. Translating playtime with a real-world doll for a video game is rather brilliant, transforming an inanimate toy into something much more engaging and interactive. We can already imagine parents fighting each other at Toys 'R' Us for a <em>WiiWaa</em> plush/game combo set at Christmas next year -- provided the game is, y'know, <em>real</em>.<br />

Today, the Capcom Blog decided to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/30/look-hard-bionic-commando-box-art/">reveal the box art</a> and a <a href="http://www.capcom-unity.com/snow_infernus/blog/2008/09/30/bionic_commando_prototype_figure">prototype figurine</a> for <em>Bionic Commando</em>. The thing about the figurine, though, is that the company has no idea when, where, how or <em>if</em> the general consumer will be able to get one.<br /><br />OK, we have no idea what the point of showing off the six-inch tall prototype is other than to gauge consumer interest. So, fine, we'll bite. It's kinda sexy. What say y'all? Link looks awfully adorable in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amigurumi">amigurumi</a> form, so we're grateful to Artoo1121 and her boyfriend for bringing such a cute craft into the world. What really gets us, though, are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/linkdollstuff_cs_0714.jpg">all the mini accessories</a> that come along with this crocheted wonder, like the Hylian Shield, the Master Sword, the Lon Lon Milk, and (last but not least) the ocarina. <br /><br />Artoo1121 is also working on a Zelda to match up with Link, which will be impressive if it even comes out half as nice. You can also check out <a href="http://flickr.com/photos/geekcentralstation/">her Flickr set here</a> to see more pictures of this craft if you happen to like it as much as we do.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2008/07/14/link-knit-amigurumi-cuter-than-kittens/">Technabob</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/link-makes-an-epically-cute-craft/">Link makes an epically cute craft</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Jul 2008 23:00:00 EST. We aren't exactly sure what the "<em>Lovely Lisa</em>" game found on the ESRB database is, but a quick jaunt over to potential Tomy's Japanese website gave us a potential solution. "Lisa" is pretty close to "Licca," as in <a href="http://licca.takaratomy.co.jp/">Licca-chan</a>, their line of fashion dolls. Last year, Tomy released a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/27/use-your-imagination-and-pretend-you-have-an-actual-toy/">virtual Licca doll game</a> on the DS, called <em><a href="http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/gamesoft/catalog/licca-ds/">Licca-chan DS Onna no Ko Lesson</a> (Licca-chan DS Girls' Lessons),</em> a combination of a Licca-chan doll with customizable clothing, and, of course, a suite of minigames.<br /><br />If this is indeed <em>Licca-chan DS</em>, it might be a step toward launching the doll line in the U.S., in which case you can <em>see the future of the pink aisles in Toys R Us.</em> Or it could just be a cheap game that Tomy thinks they could sell.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/06/tomy-localizing-licca-chan-doll-simulator/">Tomy localizing Licca-chan doll simulator?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 06 Jun 2008 17:00:00 EST. <em>Secret Agent Clank</em> figurines are currently available for those who pre-order the game at GameStop. A post by Sony America producer Frank Simon on the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/05/27/secret-agent-clank-bonus-pre-order-figurine/">PlayStation Blog</a> says that the toy will be available with pre-order -- dramatic pause -- "while supplies last." We've been told the figure is bendable, but not posable.<br /><br /><em>Secret Agent Clank</em> won't be saving the galaxy until <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/05/secret-agent-clank-bolts-into-stores-june-17/">June 17</a>, but a demo is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/15/psn-thursday-secret-agent-clank-psp-demo/">currently available on the PSN</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/27/secret-agent-clank-figure-with-gamestop-pre-order/">Secret Agent Clank figure with GameStop pre-order</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 May 2008 22:00:00 EST. We can't even imagine how long it must have taken to <strike>knit</strike> crochet such an accurate looking Mario softie.<br /><br />Even so, we wouldn't pay $100 for a doll the size of our hands (even though it also comes with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/media/2008/01/brooches_cs_0118.jpg">four brooches</a>). If <em>you</em> would, though, you should visit michellerheaume's Etsy shop <a href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=8980791">here</a>. You might as well throw a couple of bills our way, too, if you have that kind of money. We won't knit you anything, but we can send you some trash from the street and name it "Mario," if that would help.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.tokyomango.com/tokyo_mango/2008/01/super-cute-hand.html">Tokyo Mango</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/18/youve-never-seen-mario-so-soft/">You've never seen Mario so soft</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Jan 2008 22:33:00 EST. It's time to play out your own Emergence Day with <a href="http://necaonline.com/article/detail/188">the first wave</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/26/gears-of-war-gets-all-dolled-up-with-action-figures/"><em>Gears of War</em> action figures</a> featuring Marcus Fenix, Augustus Cole and the Locust Drone -- your old He-Man figures are going to have to substitute for the rest of the cast. The figures will be available "late spring of 2008" and the second wave of dolls will crawl out "late 2008." <br /><br />The figures will be available at Hot Topic, FYE, comic book shops and other specialty stores. There's no word yet currently on price or what the second batch of characters will be, but it seems kind of unfair for Marcus to be without his Dom for an extended period of time (guess <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man-At-Arms">Man-At-Arms</a> will have to do for the meantime).<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gears-of-war-action-figures/">Gears of War Action Figures</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gears-of-war-action-figures/#594001"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/01/marcustease1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gears-of-war-action-figures/#594002"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/01/marcustease2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/17/gears-of-war-dolls-of-masculinity-available-spring-08/">Gears of War dolls of masculinity available spring '08</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Jan 2008 23:15:00 EST. One of the interesting things about fanaticism (we're definitely fanatics for all things <em>Zelda</em>) is how it invades every section of your life. From sketching pictures of green tunics in your notebook during class, right down to ensuring your children grow up with the same obsession as you (more on that in a bit). It's a wonderful, sometimes <em>scary</em> thing.<br /><br />Let's see what that fanaticism does when people decide to go DIY.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/01/zelda-week-do-it-yourself/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Zelda Week: Do it yourself</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/01/zelda-week-do-it-yourself/">Zelda Week: Do it yourself</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Oct 2007 22:25:00 EST. We've got more details now about the <em>Halo 3</em> action figures being produced by McFarlane toys and Microsoft. The six-inch tall dolls are expected to release in the spring of '08. We received a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/18/mcfarlane-working-on-halo-3-action-figures/">plethora of information</a> regarding the proposed lineup of action figures back when they were announced in June, but now we have a much better idea of what they look like and <a href="http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MF18171+">price</a>. Above you can see Cortana and after the break you'll find the Master Chief.<br /><br />This would not be the first time in recent memory McFarlane and Microsoft collaborated. McFarlane also did the art for a few <a href="http://www.www.joystiq.com/2007/06/12/halos-todd-mcfarlane-controllers-and-wireless-headset/">official Halo 3 controllers</a> that came out this year as well. The action figures do look nice even as prototypes and the $14 price isn't half bad. And we do get a chuckle knowing somewhere out there this spring a little boy will play out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/26/gears-of-war-gets-all-dolled-up-with-action-figures/">inappropriate scenes</a> between his <em>Halo</em> and <em>Gears of War</em> <strike>dolls</strike> action figures.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.thebbps.com/blog/2007/09/21/mcfarlane-halo-toys/">BBPS</a>]<font face="Arial"></font><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/mcfarlane-halo-toy-details-and-price/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>McFarlane Halo toy details and price</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/mcfarlane-halo-toy-details-and-price/">McFarlane Halo toy details and price</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Sep 2007 22:00:00 EST. Playing with a <em>fake </em>fashion doll on the DS, of course! <em>Licca-chan</em> DS allows kids to play with an inferior, poorly-rendered, digital version of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Licca-chan">popular Japanese doll</a>, for what is likely to be a greatly increased cost!<br /><br />Drawing clothing designs and turning them into dresses for the doll is about the only benefit to this thing. You can make a fake cake with the fake doll, but is it really going to be any better than <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/17/majesco-back-in-the-game-returning-to-profitability/">Cooking Mama</a>? </em>Or just a regular cake? There's no other reason to choose this over a normal plastic doll. Well, actually, we don't know <em>anything</em> about fashion dolls, but we can't imagine purchasing a DS version of, say, a <a href="http://www.hasbro.com/default.cfm?page=browse&amp;product_id=18464">Spider-Man action figure</a>.<br /><br />Oh, we just realized who the audience was for this thing-- people who want to play with dolls, but don't want to be seen playing with dolls. In other words, girls who are <em>slightly</em> too old for Licca-chan.<br /><br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/27/use-your-imagination-and-pretend-you-have-an-actual-toy/">Use your imagination and pretend you have an actual toy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Jul 2007 10:40:00 EST. The lanky plumber already has enough problems dealing with his older brother always stealing the spotlight and Princess Daisy's failure to commit to a serious relationship, but now he has to worry about embarassing photos from 20 years ago resurfacing on the internet. We all have our fair share of unflattering pictures from the 80s, but the images posted for this vintage <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/supermariobros">Super Mario Bros.</a></em> doll auction are downright embarassing.

You, our fellow fanboys, had varying opinions about the whole thing to whether or not Epic was overacting or if they were within' their rights to send Emilio the letter. Well, we've received some clarity on the situation as Epic's own Mark Rein posted an <a href="http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=565444">apology</a> on the official <em>Gears of War</em> forums. Rein acknowledged that their lawyers misunderstood Emilio's work, because they thought it was an actual product for sale using the <em>GoW</em> trademark. Rein went on to say that their lawyers did act over zealously and they now see absolutely no harm in Emilio's Christmas gift, but reinforced that they pursue hundreds of individuals who try captilizing on their trademarks illegally. In the end, no hard feelings and everyone can go their merry way.<br /><br />We're glad that Epic came clean on this little situation and exposed it for what it was ... a misunderstanding. See, we knew Epic wasn't a corporate machine capable of doing such evil things ... we never doubted them for a second.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/11/epic-apologies-for-the-doll-misunderstanding/">Epic apologies for the doll misunderstanding</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 11 Mar 2007 04:00:00 EST. And we still think that big headed Marcus doll rocks. Anyway, it looks like Epic Games' legal counsel took notice and sent Emilio a <a href="http://mywebpages.comcast.net/eightcell/emilio.html">cease and desist</a> order demanding that he quit making the dolls and remove all logos that infringe on their <em>Gears of War</em> trademark. The cease and desist order goes on to read,<br /><br />"<em>Your unauthorized use of the Gears of War trademarks falsely suggests sponsorship or affiliation between Epic and you and constitutes an attempt by you to trade off the goodwill of the Gears of War trademark.</em>"<br /><br />Wait, we thought he was making a Christmas gift for his little cousin? Emilio never sold the doll, never made a penny off of it, and only created one as a gift. He was proud of his work and wanted to share it with the <em>Gears</em> community and nothing more. Come on Epic, we know you are much cooler than that as this seems just a little too corporate for even a company like EA. Was this whole cease and desist thing <em>really</em> necessary?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=2366762">Something Awful</a>, Thanks, Didlee]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/09/epic-demands-quit-making-gears-dolls/">Epic demands: quit making Gears dolls</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 Mar 2007 11:30:00 EST. The doll even came in a mock retail box when Emilio presented it to his cousin as a Christmas gift. But, like any other do-it-yourself <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munny" target="_blank">Munny</a> doll, Emilio's creation is merely a personal homage to Epic's game; not a mischievous business venture. Nevertheless, when Epic and its legal hounds caught wind of the doll, they issued a cease and desist order, claiming Emilio's creation is an unauthorized use of Epic's trademarks. Epic has requested that all trademarks be removed from the doll, packaging, and Emilio's website. Ironically, the logos Emilio used were apparently taken from a fansite pack that Epic had issued. <em>C'mon Epic dudes, please, back off.</em><br /><br />[Thanks, Hugbees]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/08/epic-threatens-to-curb-stomp-fan-for-gears-of-war-munny-doll/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Epic threatens to curb stomp fan for Gears of War 'Munny' doll</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/08/epic-threatens-to-curb-stomp-fan-for-gears-of-war-munny-doll/">Epic threatens to curb stomp fan for Gears of War 'Munny' doll</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Mar 2007 15:21:00 EST. Yes, of all games, <em>Elebits</em> is the first to offer an incentive to pre-order...to be honest, it probably needs it. The dolls will be either red or blue, and feature absolutely no way to tell until you actually open your box and the creature springs out to begin feasting on your brain. This action will, perhaps, increase the enjoyment of the game, but with any luck, maybe it won't be necessary.<br /><br />Nice boxart for the doll, though. Is anyone considering picking this game up at launch? With one of the strongest launch lineups in video game history, it's going to be difficult to justify spending even more on this quirky little concept...<br /><br />[Update 1: Okay, some stores in Australia had been giving out a whole bunch of coupons for pre-ordering the Wii itself.
