Swords and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/17/soul-calibur-iv-keeps-laying-on-the-sexuality/3">boobs</a> helped propel Namco Bandai to $99.7 million in profit during the third quarter of its financial year. <a href="http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/namco-bandai-profits-drop-38-in-q3/?biz=1">GameDaily</a> reports that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/soul-calibur-iv"><em>Soul Calibur IV</em></a> has been the publisher's most successful title, selling 2.2m units this fiscal year, followed by <em>Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit'</em>s 730k. Overall, the PS2 is the publisher's most successful platform for its software, followed by the Wii. Also, the PSP has been slightly kinder to the publisher than the DS.<br /><br /><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/namco-bandai">Namco Bandai</a>'s finances combine the company's video games, arcade machines and toy businesses. Despite a significant drop in revenue, it still plans to walk away with $143m in profit, when it closes the books for the year on March 31.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/12/namco-bandai-reaches-high-calibur-profits-of-99-7m/">Namco Bandai reaches high 'calibur' profits of $99.7m</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Feb 2009 13:45:00 EST. This time, we take a look at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dragon-ball-z-burst-limit"><em>Dragonball Z: Burst Limit</em></a>. The long and short of it that <em>Burst Limit</em> is pretty decent fighting game, and one that <em>Dragonball Z</em> fans will probably enjoy quite a bit. <em>Dragon Ball Z</em> fans rejoice! Everyone else ... um ... be indifferent! There is now a <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dragon-ball-x-burst-limit">Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit</a> </em>demo on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xblm">Xbox Live Marketplace</a>. The demo features two different battles and <em>absolutely no tutorial</em>. We've plowed through it a few times now, and we feel confident in saying that it will you will get much more pleasure out of the demo if you: A) enjoy the show and, B) have any idea what you're doing. Those in column A might not care too much about column B though. We'll put together a video later today (because we're masochists ... and we kinda maybe <em>sorta</em> used to watch the show ... in high school ... religiously).<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/15/dragonball-z-burst-limit-demo-on-xblm/">Dragonball Z: Burst Limit demo on XBLM</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 15 May 2008 10:30:00 EST. There was more gaming to be had over at last weekend's New York Comic Con and PS3 Fanboy got to play the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dragon-ball-z/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit</span></a>. We unfortunately did not get the chance to play the PlayStation 3 version, but did give the Xbox 360 one a go. Obviously, we won't talk about console specific details such as visuals, control interface, etc. We will, however, be talking about the highlighted features found in both versions.<br /><br />On the demo we played, we got a taste of two different battles from the beginning of the <em>DBZ</em> story. Once in the fray, we noticed right away that fights were fast-paced and intense. The ki meter, which controls the use of ki attacks and special abilities, fills up automatically. This allows more powerful moves to be used quicker and more frequently, also giving the gameplay more variety when developing your own unique fighting style.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/ps3-fanboy-hands-on-dragon-ball-z-burst-limit/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>PS3 Fanboy hands-on: Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/23/ps3-fanboy-hands-on-dragon-ball-z-burst-limit/">PS3 Fanboy hands-on: Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 23 Apr 2008 20:35:00 EST. Our scouters are reading power levels well above <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBtpyeLxVkI">9,000</a> and growing. The more we see of this game, the more we want it. Luckily for us, this English trailer might be a good indicator that a western release for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/burst-limit/"><em>Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit</em></a> may be coming sooner than we think. If you're a big fan of <em>DBZ</em>, you'll want to check out this trailer -- watch it to the very end to see what Vegeta thinks of the game. Still no sign of permanent destructible environments though, but hey, you can't win them all.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.n4g.com/News-126747.aspx">N4G</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/24/english-dbz-burst-limit-trailer-is-over-9000/">English DBZ: Burst Limit trailer is over 9000</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Mar 2008 08:00:00 EST. While the Wii version of <em>Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3</em> is officially the first <em>Dragon Ball</em> game to feature online play, let's not kid ourselves. The Wii isn't exactly known as a major hub for online gaming. However, it appears that developer Namco Bandai is fixing that despicable oversight when Atari recently announced that the next game in the franchise - <em>Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit</em> will ship later this year with a full online mode on the PS3.<br /><br />Atari didn't say too much beyond that, but it promised "radical 3D graphic effects," which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/26/dragon-ball-z-what-it-looks-like-on-ps3/">we've witnessed</a>, and we have to agree. This looks closer to playing the actual cartoon than we've ever seen before, and we can't wait to see more.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/17/dragon-ball-z-burst-limit-will-feature-online-play/">Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit will feature online play</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 Jan 2008 10:30:00 EST. Considering the series was officially ended over ten years ago and they're <em>still</em> making games based on it ... well, words fail us. This was back when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/SEGA/">SEGA</a> still had a console in the race. Hell, the N64 and wasn't even available by the time the series was over, and the original Playstation had only been available for a month in Japan. The point is, you see, <em>Dragon Ball Z</em> is old. It is, however, apparently still popular enough to create a 360 game based on it. Entitled <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/29221.html"><em>Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit</em></a>, it looks to expand on the fighting formula set by the <em>Budokai</em> series. It uses cel-shaded graphics and it looks pretty damned good. At times, the trailer is nearly indistinguishable from the original series. If you're a <em>Dragon Ball</em> fan, you'll probably want to keep your eye on it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/27/finally-a-dragon-ball-z-game-for-360/">Finally, a Dragon Ball Z game for 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Dec 2007 10:00:00 EST.
