Come November 26, the Vita-exclusive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Soul-Sacrifice/"><em>Soul Sacrifice</em></a> joins the free games on offer to PlayStation Plus subscribers, and they won't even have to trade a limb for it.<br />
<br />
For those who missed <em>Soul Sacrifice</em>, think of it as a game of choices. You play a prisoner turned sorcerer in a world where magic requires sacrifices. Some of these are largely benign, but there are the massively damaging spells that ask you to literally give up an arm in exchange for that kind of power. The game's difficulty level is slightly less intense than that seen in <em>Dark Souls</em>, but it still makes a very worthwhile contender for anyone looking for a game that will mercilessly punish mistakes - and unlike <em>Dark Souls</em>, since <em>Soul Sacrifice</em> is a Vita game, you can get your fix on the go.<br />
<br />
As with all new PS Plus additions, the introduction of <em>Soul Sacrifice</em> means that something must be bumped off of the roster. In this case, the PS Plus Instant Game Collection is losing <em>Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen</em>. If you want to pick up Capcom's endearing attempt at a Western-style, open-world role-playing game, today marks your last chance to do so via PlayStation Plus.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/11/25/soul-sacrifice-goes-free-on-ps-plus-tomorrow/">Soul Sacrifice goes free on PS Plus tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Nov 2013 18:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen"><em>Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen </em></a>is the first of November's PlayStation Plus offerings to break cover, and subscribers gain access to the expanded re-release after today's PSN update. If you missed it earlier this year, <em>Dark Arisen</em> features Capcom's action-RPG alongside a host of supplemental content. That includes the new realm of Bitterblack Isle, new quests, an improved fast travel system, and a plethora of noticeable tweaks.<br />
<br />
As for the rest of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/10/31/ps-plus-delivers-dragons-dogma-soul-sacrifice-free-ps4-games/">this month's PS Plus games</a>, they're masterworks all, you can't go wrong. Well, that's what <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqzGOm9wmn0">some would say</a> after seeing the likes of <em>Binary Domain</em>, <em>Ibb &amp; Obb</em>, <em>Soul Sacrifice</em>, and <em>Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD</em> on the current-gen bill. Meanwhile, the PS4's opening line-up stars Housemarque's <em>Resogun</em> and cabaret puzzle platformer <em>Contrast, </em>the latter replacing the <em>Driveclub </em>after that game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/10/18/ps4-launch-title-driveclub-delayed-to-early-2014/">last-minute delay</a>. <em> </em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/11/05/playstation-plus-gets-dragons-dogma-dark-arisen-this-week/">PlayStation Plus gets Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Nov 2013 11:00:00 EST. Capcom has put a number to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/11/01/capcom-net-income-up-20-in-q2-lost-planet-3-sales-below-projec/">"below expectations"</a> performance of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/lost-planet-3"><em>Lost Planet 3</em></a>, that of 300,000 units shipped worldwide as of the end of September. While that only represents its first month at retail, the shooter sequel developed by Californian studio Spark Unlimited failed to hit performance targets in Europe and North America. The Japanese company <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/18/capcom-adjusts-forecasts-following-canceled-games-revises-strat/">previously expressed disappointment</a> in the "excessive" amount of projects outsourced overseas, which it believed led to a decrease in quality.<br />
<br />
Capcom previously deemed <em>Lost Planet 2</em> an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/04/capcom-reduces-fiscal-forecast-due-to-lost-planet-2-shortfall/">underperformer</a>, but that game went on to ship <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/06/capcom-profits-soar-with-help-from-record-aaa-game-sales/">1.5 million units worldwide</a>. That said, based on its first month figures <em>Lost Planet 3</em> will have done very well if it matches that performance.<br />
<br />
It's not all doom and gloom for Capcom. For starters, the 1 million units shipped by console and PC ports of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/resident-evil-revelations">Resident Evil: Revelations </a>wer</em>e in line with projections. Also, expansion/follow-up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen"><em>Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen</em></a> came in at 650,000 units, comparing favorably to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/25/capcom-ships-over-a-million-copies-of-dragons-dogma/">million-plus shipped</a> by the original game. Then there's the small matter of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/monster-hunter-4"><em>Monster Hunter 4</em></a>, with the 3DS juggernaut shipping <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/10/15/monster-hunter-4-ships-3-million-in-a-month/">3 million units in its first month</a> - and that's just in Japan.<br />
<br />
Looking ahead, Capcom's big name game in the second half of its fiscal year is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dead-rising-3"><em>Dead Rising 3</em></a>. Given it's a launch game on Xbox One, there's pragmatism to the company's projections of 1.2 million units shipped by the end of March 2014. While <em>Dead Rising 2</em> shipped <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/06/capcom-profits-soar-with-help-from-record-aaa-game-sales/">2.2 million units</a> a few years ago, Capcom put that game out on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. As it stands, the sequel is exclusive to the Xbox One.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/11/01/lost-planet-3-ships-300-000-units-dead-rising-3-aims-for-1-2-mi/">Lost Planet 3 ships 300,000 units, Dead Rising 3 aims for 1.2 million</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Nov 2013 09:30:00 EST. Sony <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/10/31/playstation-plus-november-preview/">unveiled</a> next month's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/playstation-plus">PlayStation Plus</a> lineup, announcing that subscribers will receive a slate of free games for the PlayStation 3, PS Vita, and PlayStation 4 in time for International Turkey Day.<br />
<br />
Sony's subscription service hosts its first batch of PlayStation 4 freebies in November, as early adopters will receive free downloadable copies of Compulsion Games' shadowy puzzle-platformer <i>Contrast</i> and Housemarque's <i>Defender</i>-like shoot-'em-up <i>Resogun</i>. <i>Contrast</i> serves as a last-minute replacement for <i>Driveclub</i>, which was originally scheduled to take part in next month's PlayStation Plus lineup before its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/10/18/ps4-launch-title-driveclub-delayed-to-early-2014/">recent delay</a>.<br />
<br />
Capcom's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen"><i>Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen</i></a> and Sega's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/binary-domain"><i>Binary Domain</i></a> headline November's PlayStation 3 offerings, joining Sparpweed's co-op action game <i>Ibb and Obb</i>. PlayStation Vita owners can expect to see Sony's <i>Monster Hunter</i>-inspired action-RPG <i>Soul Sacrifice</i>, along with an upgraded HD version of Just Add Water's <i>Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath</i>.<br />
<br />
PlayStation Plus members in Europe receive Konami's <i>Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance</i> in <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/10/11/playstation-plus-in-november-metal-gear-rising-remember-me-more/">next month</a>'s package, along with <i>Remember Me, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD</i>, and <i>MotorStorm RC</i>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/10/31/ps-plus-delivers-dragons-dogma-soul-sacrifice-free-ps4-games/">PS Plus delivers Dragon's Dogma, Soul Sacrifice, free PS4 games in November</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 31 Oct 2013 17:30:00 EST. Sony has <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/09/17/playstation-plus-in-october-far-cry-3-street-fighter-x-tekken-lead-the-way/">announced</a> its European PlayStation Plus lineup for October, revealing that subscribers will receive free access to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/far-cry-3"><i>Far Cry 3</i></a> and other downloadable hits throughout the month.<br />
<br />
Capcom's action-RPG <i>Dragon's Dogma</i> will also launch for PlayStation Plus in Europe next month, complete with the game's recently released <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen"><i>Dark Arisen</i></a> expansion. Black Forest Games' Kickstarter-funded platformer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/giana-sisters-twisted-dreams"><i>Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams</i></a> rounds out the month's PS Plus offerings on the PlayStation 3.<br />

PlayStation Vita owners will receive the crossover fighting game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-x-tekken"><i>Street Fighter x Tekken</i></a> as part of the PlayStation Plus program in October, along with Namco Bandai's oddball stuff-gathering sim <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/touch-my-katamari"><i>Touch My Katamari</i></a>. The ever-gluttonous Games on Demand stuffed more unsuspecting morsels into this gob this week, including the spicy pawn salad that is <em>Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen</em>.<br />
<br />
The fresh-faced game'n'expansion version of the 2012 RPG is now on Xbox Live priced <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-us/Product/DD-Dark-Arisen/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80243430814?nosplash=1">$40</a>, joined by also-new arrivals <em>Star Trek</em> and the <em>Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection</em> at <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-us/Product/Star-Trek/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8024e4d085b">$30</a> and <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/DBZ-Budokai-HD-Collection/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8024e4d0856">$35</a> respectively.<br />

Keeping the dining descriptions going, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/23/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen-review-cheating-death/">our <em>Dark Arisen</em> review</a> said "if you didn't bite before, then Capcom's "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvr9HM-NNBY">souped-up</a> re-release" is "easily the best introduction to the land of Gransys." Sounds yummy.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/07/23/games-on-demand-adds-dark-arisen-star-trek-dragonball-z-hd/">Games on Demand adds Dark Arisen, Star Trek, Dragonball Z HD</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Jul 2013 08:30:00 EST. <em>Dragon's Dogma</em> vanilla and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen"><em>Dark Arisen</em></a> players alike, take heed. A recent title update for Capcom's fantasy RPG seems to be corrupting save files for some users.<br />
<br />
If you haven't downloaded the update yet, Capcom suggests copying your data to the cloud or an external device before patching the game. Capcom promises to have a solution "as quickly as possible."<br />

 <em>Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen</em> is an Xbox 360 and PS3 expansion to Capcom's 2012 outing, a retail disc release that includes additional content and a remastered version of the base <em>Dragon's Dogma </em>game. The remastered version of <em>Dragon's Dogma</em> includes a new fast-travel system on top of additional items and gear, but sadly no <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/25/thats-action-baby-dragons-dogmas-surreal-tech-demo/">dancing cyclopes</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/30/psa-dragons-dogma-and-dark-arisen-title-updates-corrupting-saves/">PSA: Dragon's Dogma and Dark Arisen title updates corrupting saves</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Apr 2013 22:15:00 EST. From the intoxicating notion that it could come at any time while travelling the world of Gransys to the corpses that litter an area once you've torn through it, death permeates the narrative like a foul odor. <span>The punishing difficulty ensures defeat in most cases, making it an absolute certainty that a restart will be necessary at least once. That same frustration, however, is what attracted the droves of players to Capcom's open-world RPG in the first place.</span><br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen"><em>Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen</em></a> ups the ante by introducing Death personified. Your first sighting could end up being your last, though with persistence, even Death itself can be cheated. <span>And that's just one small piece of this sprawling hunk of supplemental content. The austere world of </span><em>Dark Arisen</em><span> is a meaty expansion pack that serves up a substantial amount of new material, opening up welcoming arms to veterans and enticing new players with what will inevitably be billed as the definitive </span><em>Dragon's Dogma</em><span> experience.</span><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen/">Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen/#5590253"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/dddaelderogre01bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen/#5590254"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/dddaelderogre02bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen/#5590256"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/dddaelderogre03bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen/#5590257"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/dddaelderogre04bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen/#5590258"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/dddaelderogre05bmpjpgcopy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/23/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen-review-cheating-death/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen review: Cheating Death</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/23/dragons-dogma-dark-arisen-review-cheating-death/">Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen review: Cheating Death</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Apr 2013 13:30:00 EST. The company divulged little else about the expansion, called 'Dark Arisen,' beyond the above teaser. We also have a few appropriately dark screenshots below the break.<br /><br />Capcom also tells us that two free modes are being patched into the RPG later this year. Following the 'Easy' mode released <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/01/dragons-dogma-patch-to-add-easy-mode/">last month</a>, the 'Hard' mode cranks things up the other way but with the promise of extra loot. Meanwhile, 'Speedun' rewards players who beat the game in an allotted time.<br /><br />As for the expansion, Capcom promises to spill the beans soon. Until then, strength in numbers, Arisen.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: We also have a short video for the new Hard and Speedrun modes after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/21/dragons-dogma-gets-dark-arisen-expansion-in-2013/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Dragon's Dogma gets Dark Arisen expansion in 2013 [update: new modes video]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/21/dragons-dogma-gets-dark-arisen-expansion-in-2013/">Dragon's Dogma gets Dark Arisen expansion in 2013 [update: new modes video]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Sep 2012 09:30:00 EST.
