The opening scene of last night's <em>Simpsons</em> episode brought the family to the "Expensive Electronic Entertainment Expo" (or "E4," a joke that works even better if you realize the writers forgot about the existence of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/06/joystiq-at-e-for-all-the-highlights-of-our-experience/">E For All</a>).<br />
<br />
You'll have to wait eight days or so to see the episode on <a href="http://www.hulu.com/the-simpsons">Hulu</a> if you missed it -- longer still if you're outside of the US -- but <a href="http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2011/11/the_simpsons_check_out_the_lat.php">GameSetWatch</a> has done us the favor of collecting some of the on-the-nose visual gags from the scene. In addition to the three screencaps presented in the post, GSW reports that parody games including <em>Grand Theft Scratchy: Itchy City Stories, Shaun White: Time Snowboarder</em>, and <em>World of Krustcraft</em> made appearances.<br />
<br />
Perhaps the best thing about this sequence is that it suggests a <em>Simpsons</em> writer was present at E3 for the sole purpose of taking notes on the spectacle.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/15/the-simpsons-go-to-e4/">The Simpsons go to 'E4'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Nov 2011 08:30:00 EST. The questions attempt to gauge interest in having "a conference program covering multiple industry topics, including panel discussions with industry leaders, at future E3 Expo events."<br /><br />Further questions narrow down potential topics, including "Interactive Entertainment Business trends," Game Development," "Game Career Development," and "New Product Demonstrations." Of course, querying attendees about this is by no means a confirmation that E3 will include panel discussions in the future, but it <em>is</em> an indication that the organizers are thinking about it. Adding what amounts to GDC-style content to the generally marketing-focused E3 would be a significant change in focus for the expo -- an event that just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/07/31/e3-killed-reborn-as-new-e3expo/">can't</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/18/e3-returns-to-la-convention-center-next-july-remains-invite-onl/">stop</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/22/e3-2009-brings-back-spectacle-june-2-4-at-lacc/">changing</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/17/survey-suggests-addition-of-panel-discussions-to-e3/">Survey suggests addition of panel discussions to E3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Jun 2009 15:10:00 EST. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/e309">E3</a> trying to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/esa-exec-e3-2009-to-bring-back-glamour-and-sizzle/">reclaim its former glory</a> by once again taking over the entirety of the LA Convention center, there's going to be a lot to see and do this year. There's also going to be a lot of walking to do, because 90% of the space for June's show has already been claimed, <a href="http://www.theesa.com/newsroom/release_detail.asp?releaseID=53">so says the ESA</a>. The organization's goal of 40,000 qualified attendees is also on track and it has confirmed that <a href="http://www.e3expo.com/content/1129/exhibitor-list/">over 100 exhibitors are already on board</a>, besting <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/23/latest-e3-2009-exhibitor-list-revealed-twice-the-size-of-last-y/">the 86 we knew about back</a> in February.<br /><br />E3 2009 will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/22/e3-2009-brings-back-spectacle-june-2-4-at-lacc/">June 2 though June 4</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6206388.html">Gamespot</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/19/wear-some-comfy-shoes-90-of-e3-space-booked-up/">Wear some comfy shoes: 90% of E3 space booked up</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Mar 2009 19:20:00 EST. E3 2009 will take place June 2-4 next year, at the LA Convention Center. It won't be open to the public or anything, but the list of people who can attend will be less restrictive than the previous two years, says the ESA. They'll be opening the doors to all "international and US-based media, analysts, retailers, developers and business partners." So, attendance will increase and this move should hopefully help <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/e3">E3</a> get back to what it used to be: loud, smelly, and oh-so-fun!<br /><br />And while we're on the subject, be sure to check out Joystiq's interview with ESA president and CEO Mike Gallagher <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/22/joystiq-interviews-esa-president-about-e3-2009/">right here</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-2008-nintendo-keynote-photo-tour/">E3 2008 Nintendo Keynote Photo tour</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-2008-nintendo-keynote-photo-tour/#924871"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.nintendowiifanboy.com/media/2008/07/cimg0164_1690x1267_980x735_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-2008-nintendo-keynote-photo-tour/#924870"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.nintendowiifanboy.com/media/2008/07/cimg0163_1690x1267_980x735_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-2008-nintendo-keynote-photo-tour/#924869"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.nintendowiifanboy.com/media/2008/07/cimg0162_1690x1267_980x735_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-2008-nintendo-keynote-photo-tour/#924868"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.nintendowiifanboy.com/media/2008/07/cimg0161_1690x1267_980x735_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/e3-2008-nintendo-keynote-photo-tour/#924867"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.nintendowiifanboy.com/media/2008/07/cimg0157_1690x1267_980x735_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/22/e3-tries-to-make-a-comeback-in-2009/">E3 tries to make a comeback in 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 22 Oct 2008 19:02:00 EST.
