"After reading the e-book, players will have a better understanding of BioShock Infinite's world, the struggle between its factions, and the motivations of key characters, like rebel leader Daisy Fitzroy, without spoiling the mysteries of BioShock Infinite," Irrational's Joe Fielder, who wrote the book with creative director Ken Levine, explained in the announcement.<br /><br />The ebook will be released February 12 for Kindle, priced at $2.99. Amazon pre-orders of <em>BioShock Infinite</em> will be entitled to a free copy. All pre-orders worldwide will also get the in-game Industrial Revolution Pack, with in-game gear, currency, and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/22/lazy-8-on-the-cogs-behind-bioshock-infinite-industrial-revoluti/"><em>Industrial Revolution</em></a> puzzle game.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bioshock-infinite-mind-in-revolt/">BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bioshock-infinite-mind-in-revolt/#5588055"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/kindlecover_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bioshock-infinite-mind-in-revolt/#5588054"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/01/billboarddaisyrender_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/22/bioshock-infinite-prequel-ebook-out-in-february-free-with-pre/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BioShock: Infinite prequel ebook out in February, free with pre-order</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/22/bioshock-infinite-prequel-ebook-out-in-february-free-with-pre/">BioShock: Infinite prequel ebook out in February, free with pre-order</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Jan 2013 11:00:00 EST. The price will flip-kick back up after a week. It's still listed only as "coming soon" to PSN and iOS.<br /><br />Coinciding with the release of <em>Karateka</em> on a new platform, creator Jordan Mechner has released an ebook about the development process of the original Apple 2 <em>Karateka</em>. The making of <em>Karateka: Journals 1982-1985 </em>collects Mechner's private journal entries about the time spent in college creating the martial arts game. It's on Amazon digitally today, and Mechner plans to release it in print later. Mechner has already released a <a href="http://jordanmechner.com/ebook/">journal book</a> about <em>Prince of Persia</em>.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: <em>Karateka</em> is <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/217270">now available on Steam</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/03/karateka-on-pc-today-alongside-karateka-development-book/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Karateka on PC today, alongside Karateka development book</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/03/karateka-on-pc-today-alongside-karateka-development-book/">Karateka on PC today, alongside Karateka development book</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 03 Dec 2012 11:00:00 EST. Listings for a book (potentially) based on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Battlefield-3"><em>Battlefield 3</em></a> have started cropping up at various literary outlets around the web, in both paperback and eBook flavors. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Battlefield-3-Author-TBD/dp/1455508926">Amazon</a> lists the book as a 400-page "Mass Market Paperback" by <a href="http://www.andymcnab.co.uk/">Andy McNab</a>, an author and war-vet who, <a href="http://www.gamersbook.com/scene/news/battlefield-3-motion-capturing-techniques/">according to Gamersbook</a>, has been advising <em>BF3</em> developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/DICE">DICE</a> on their motion-capture techniques. Barnes &amp; Nobel <a href="http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/battlefield-3-andy-mcnab/1030629920">also has a listing</a> for <em>Battlefield 3</em>, this time in as a Nook eBook, with both McNab and <em>BF3</em> Executive Producer Patrick Bach cited as authors.<br />
<br />
We can also assume that these listing aren't for a strategy guide, as the "Mass Market Paperback" classification is reserved for novels and the like, whereas strategy guides are classified as "Paperbacks."

The tremendously tantalizing tome is available for pre-order at both outlets, with Amazon listing the release date as October 25 and B&amp;N reporting a November release window. We've reached out to
<meta charset="utf-8" />
the book's registered publisher, <a href="http://www.hachettebookgroup.com/publishing_grand-central-publishing.aspx">Grand Central Publishing</a>, for more information.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/17/mysterious-battlefield-3-paperback-ebook-spotted-online/">Mysterious Battlefield 3 paperback/eBook spotted online</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 17 Jul 2011 16:15:00 EST. The food, the culture, the fact that by 2011, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/14/analysts-ds-to-have-89-japanese-install-base-by-2011/">89% of the Japanese will own a DS</a> ... wait, what?<br /><br />That's insane. Ridiculous. Incomprehensible. We're quite sure that not even <em>close</em> to 89% of Americans have a web-connected computer (2003 <a href="http://maisonbisson.com/blog/post/11088/">U.S. census figures</a> showed 55%), and it's almost assumed in today's society that you've got access to the internet at home.<br /><br />With such a ubiquitous, portable, and interactive device, it's amazing that the Japanese haven't <em>truly</em> capitalized on its potential. They've got English dictionaries and day planners and all that, but <em>everyone's</em> got one! Why not introduce eBooks, or DS-enabled fast food drive-thrus, or ...! Well, we're maybe not so good at this. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dsd">What would you guys do</a> with that ridiculous penetration rate?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/19/ds-daily-common-usage/">DS Daily: Common usage</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Jun 2007 09:00:00 EST.
