Instead of smaller pieces of downloadable content, it sounds like the team is aiming for a full followup release. "It will be like a sequel, kind of," says S&ouml;derstr&ouml;m, "but building on the story."<br /><br />He adds that this possible new game "will probably have more playable characters than the first game did. And a couple of different stories and angles." And Wedin says it might have a map editor as well: "We're looking at if it's possible to do that. I think it would be really cool to let people do their own stages."<br /><br />The first game, says S&ouml;derstr&ouml;m, took quite a while to develop. But with an engine already built, a new release would primarily focus on adding new content, he says, so the process should be shortened. "We hope it would take no longer than four or five months to make the sequel, but we're not sure at this point." That's fine, Cactus. We'll just don our finest creepy pig mask and wait here patiently for more news.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/19/new-hotline-miami-content-will-more-likely-be-like-a-sequel-ki/">New Hotline Miami content will more likely be 'like a sequel, kind of'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Nov 2012 22:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/17/fable-3-combat-lead-gets-combative-about-games-reception/"><img border="1" hspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/fabley3.jpg" vspace="4" /></a></div>
It's a comfort to know that though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a> (launching today on PC) may have represented a downturn in quality from Lionhead's previous game, the studio's talent for utter delusion is as robust as ever.<br />
<br />
Combat lead Mike West starts out well enough, detailing for <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-05-17-making-a-better-fable-iii-for-pc-interview">Eurogamer</a> some improvements in the PC port, like control schemes optimized for mouse and keyboard and a beefed-up graphical engine that supports higher resolutions and 3D effects. But when West starts defending <em>Fable 3</em> against critics, things get ... weird. Here's a sample.<br />
<br />
<meta charset="utf-8" />
"[<em>Fable 3</em>] is a better game than <em>Fable 2</em>."<br />
<br />
... That's not a good start, but keep going.<br />
<br />
"<em>Fable 3</em> wasn't very buggy - it was pretty polished. It all fitted together very well and as a product it was very good."<br />
<br />
If you'll remember, as with all "pretty polished" games, Lionhead had to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/02/fable-3-fixes-incoming-lionhead-asking-for-bug-submissions/">solicit bug reports</a> from the community <em>after the game's release</em>.<br />
<br />
"People saying the story wasn't very good was unfair. It's an interesting situation of you gather people together and then defeating the main bad guy."<br />
<br />
Umm, Mike? ... Hey Mike? That last thing you said? That's not really what happens in your game. Well, it's what happens in the first half. ... Oh, wait, did you only play the first half? Not that we blame you of course, but it would explain <em>so much</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/17/fable-3-combat-lead-gets-combative-about-games-reception/">Fable 3 combat lead gets combative about game's reception</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 May 2011 13:00:00 EST. Digital Foundry has placed its exacting eye upon <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mass-effect-2"><em>Mass Effect 2</em></a>'s PlayStation 3 incarnation, addressing the big talk from both BioWare and Sony about the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/16/mass-effect-2-on-ps3-outfitted-with-mass-effect-3-engine/">game utilizing the <em>Mass Effect 3</em> engine</a> and ultimately being the "<a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/12/16/the-%E2%80%9Cdefinitive-version%E2%80%9D-of-mass-effect-2-is-on-ps3/">definitive</a>" version. DF's takeaway was that the PS3 version, as far as the PSN demo is concerned, turned out to be "<em>different</em> as opposed to definitive."<br />
<br />
Directly comparing the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, DF found the former to be a "a curious mixture of improvements, downgrades and swapped out effects." To give you an idea of how minor some differences are, however, the hexagon pattern on Miranda Lawson's comes out as looking "flat." There's also discussion of shadows looking more realistic, and biotic effects being of lower fidelity. <br />
<br />
Also, the PS3 version's framerate appears to be unlocked, which lets the game breathe a little when it can, but DF noted that "tearing is much more apparent in the new game - both in-game and in the cut-scenes." So, perhaps the PS3 version isn't quite <em>definitive</em>, but we're not hearing anything you could still use as an excuse to skip <em>Mass Effect 2</em> next month.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/23/digital-foundry-puts-mass-effect-2-on-ps3-under-its-microscope/">Digital Foundry puts PS3's Mass Effect 2 under the microscope</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Dec 2010 10:00:00 EST. Both <a href="http://ds.ign.com/articles/109/1094930p1.html">IGN</a> and <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/nvidia-unconnected-with-3ds-blog-entry">Eurogamer</a> report that developers have said off-the-record that the handheld won't use the Nvidia Tegra chip, as it was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/14/rumor-nvidia-tegra-chip-going-into-next-generation-ds/">rumored</a> to do. Eurogamer's sources claim that the 3DS hardware is internally known as "CTR," suggesting that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/17/rumor-leaked-image-of-3ds-motherboard-submitted-to-fcc/">motherboard image</a> submitted to the FCC in May, which noted the "CTR" codename, was indeed related to the 3DS.<br />
<br />
According to IGN, "Several developers that have experienced 3DS in its current form have reported, off the record, that it has processing capabilities that far exceed the Nintendo Wii and bring the device with abilities that are close to HD consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360."<br />
<br />
We'll find out for ourselves when Nintendo unveils the thing at E3, but this sounds rather uncharacteristic. Nintendo's handhelds have always been designed to use <em>not-quite-cutting-edge</em> technology, to keep costs down and battery life long. We suppose a certain level of processing power is required to generate 3D imagery, especially on two screens, but if these reports are true, the 3DS would represent a totally new strategy for Nintendo.<br />

Did you know that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dead-space-extraction"><em>Dead Space: Extraction</em></a> landed in stores this week? It's true! We certainly dug it in our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/30/snap-judgment-dead-space-extraction/">Snap Judgment</a>, but in case that just wasn't enough for you, we've compiled a few other folks' opinions on the game just below. Worried about not seeing that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/@dead-space-girl">beautiful screaming face</a> in the future? We are too, folks. We are too. <br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.gamepro.com/article/reviews/212187/dead-space-extraction/">GamePro</a> <strong>(100/100)</strong>: "An experience that's more captivating and engaging than any light-gun game I've ever played before. [The story] mirrors <em>Dead Space</em>'s thoughtful dialogue, characterizations and pacing which is a good thing all around."</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.gamedaily.com/games/dead-space-extraction/wii/game-reviews/review/8080/2342/">GameDaily</a> <strong>(80/100)</strong>: "Although we questioned EA's decision to do this, as well as bring <em>Dead Space</em> to the family centric Wii, everything clicks and the game's surprisingly enjoyable. Instead of conjuring up a cheesy narrative (as seen in other shooters like <em>Ghost Squad</em>), the developers put a lot of effort into the story and its characters."</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/dead-space-extraction-review">Eurogamer</a> <strong>(80/100)</strong>: "Gameplay is straightforward, yet it's a refined familiarity, borrowing numerous elements from the original <em>Dead Space</em> in abundance while wrapping them around the well-worn demands of a typical on-rails shooter ... One area that definitely benefits from the on-rails nature of <em>Extraction</em> is the overall pacing. Sometimes you creep along agonisingly, other times it feels like the enemy onslaught is never going to end. There are few occasions where you don't come away feeling like your scraped through by the skin of your teeth, and even on the game's lowest 'Normal' difficulty, there's a definite sense of achievement when you get through."</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.giantbomb.com/dead-space-extraction/61-25358/reviews/">Giant Bomb</a> <strong>(60/100)</strong>: "<em>Extraction</em>'s marketing campaign would like you to think of it as a 'guided experience' that whisks you through the dramatic beginnings of the series' horrible space-monster outbreak, but in blunt terms, <em>Extraction</em> is an on-rails shooter. Blunter still: it's a light-gun game. These days, that's not a style of game serious game players usually gravitate toward. But keeping the genre's inherent restrictions in mind--not to mention the limitations of the Wii hardware -- <em>Extraction</em> is really pretty good, for what it is."</li>

The time is almost upon us to saunter back into ancient ruins and <em>murder</em> hundreds upon hundreds of mercenaries in Naughty Dog's upcoming quarter-tucked adventure, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/uncharted-2"><em>Uncharted 2</em></a>. That's October 16.)<br /> <br /> If you're on the fence about your <em>Uncharted 2</em> purchase, you'll be able to check out the game -- along with <em>MAG</em>, <em>Heavy Rain</em> and <em>God of War III</em> -- at <a href="http://expo.eurogamer.net/index.php">the Eurogamer Expo</a>, which runs October 27-28 in Leeds and October 30-31 in London. Tickets to the event are only &pound;6, which we're fairly certain translates to about $0.16 in <em>real</em> currency. What a steal!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/22/uncharted-2-plundering-europe-october-16/">Uncharted 2 plundering Europe October 16</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Sep 2009 13:13:00 EST. The digital distribution arena gained one more challenger recently, after Eurogamer announced its new PC game distribution platform, "Get Games." Like IGN's <a href="http://www.direct2drive.com/">DIRECT2DRIVE</a>, the service will offer downloadable PC games paired with editorial content from the "mother" site (Eurogamer). Partnering with UK digital distributor Mastertronic -- and in turn, company boss and <em>totally not</em> a video game character, Andy Payne -- the idea is to harness Eurogamer's "quality editorial content and eyeballs" as well as Mastertronic's "five years and vital experience in this space."<br /><br /><a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/eurogamer-announces-digital-download-service-get-games">GamesIndustry.biz</a> says Get Games will host free-to-play, indie, classic, and new titles. No mention of Eurogamer's relationship with existing partner <a href="http://eurogamer.metaboli.co.uk/">Metaboli</a> (a very similar service) has been made and it remains to be seen whether Get Games and Metaboli will coexist on Eurogamer's site.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/eurogamer-wants-you-to-get-games-from-its-new-service-get-game/">Eurogamer wants you to get games from its new service, 'Get Games'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Sep 2009 14:15:00 EST. We've spoken to Splash Damage's Richard 'Rahdo' Ham <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/11/interview-splash-damages-richard-rahdo-ham">in the past</a>, so we know he's no stranger to a certain amount of exuberance about the game he's working on, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/brink"><em>Brink</em></a>. In his latest interview with <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/exclusive-egtv-brink-interview">Eurogamer</a>, his excitement reaches a fever pitch and he confirms plans for a "second and third" in the <em>Brink</em> series. <br /><br />"We already have big plans for that," Ham said. He hopes that <em>Brink</em>'s integration of online play -- a combination of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/burnout-paradise"><em>Burnout Paradise</em></a>'s freeburn mode and an FPS -- will best reigning multiplayer kingpins <em>Halo</em> and <em>Call of Duty</em>. Of course, upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-3-odst">new</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2">entries</a> in each of those franchises are certain to put up a fight before succumbing to Mr. Ham's ambitions.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/brink-xbox-360-ps3-pc/">Brink</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/brink-xbox-360-ps3-pc/#2052576"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/founders_tower_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Concept art ? Container City" title="Concept art ? Container City" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/brink-xbox-360-ps3-pc/#2052577"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/mantle_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/brink-xbox-360-ps3-pc/#2052578"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/nothing_to_declare_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/brink-xbox-360-ps3-pc/#2052579"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/robot_escort_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/brink-xbox-360-ps3-pc/#2220300"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-08-19_15-20-59_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/27/splash-damage-has-big-plans-for-brink-franchise/">Splash Damage has big plans for Brink franchise</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Aug 2009 14:30:00 EST. Ever wonder what <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fallout-3"><em>Fallout 3</em></a>'s Capital Wasteland would look like set to dramatic music, timelapsed, and shot in super high resolution? Now's your chance to find out! Eurogamer's Digital Foundry has given just such a treatment to the game via the PC iteration, cranked up to 11. (Is that even <em>possible</em>?!)<br /> <br /> The idea behind the video is to show what <em>Fallout 3</em>'s engine was capable of -- and we think you'll agree that it meets some very impressive results. Check out <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-fallout3-timelapse-blog-entry">the full video</a> here ... or go <a href="http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=auto-tune+the+news&amp;search_type=&amp;aq=f">get auto-tuned</a>. Will you take the moral high ground or lounge in the gutter? We're a bit wary of more convention-style events in the already event-filled year, but the <a href="http://expo.eurogamer.net/whats-on.php">Eurogamer Expo</a> this year is promising something we've yet to do at any convention before -- get our hands on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2"><em>Assassin's Creed 2</em></a> before its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/assassins-creed-2-launches-november-17/">November release</a>. Taking place in both Leeds and London (October 27/28 and 30/31, respectively), attendees will be treated to a smattering of playable titles from a handful of major publishers.<br /><br />Though we might argue that the show could come a bit earlier in the year -- didn't <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/E4All/"><em>that other</em> convention in October</a> not do so well? -- a chance to play a mess of major holiday releases early sounds perfectly fine to us. Microsoft, Sony, Capcom, EA and a few others will be there, so for our friends across the pond who can't make it all the way to PAX, this seems like your best bet. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2/">Assassin's Creed II</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2/#1485933"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/eziohighres1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2/#2071166"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/ac2_ca_001_carnival-1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2/#2071167"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/ac2_ca_012_sanmarcoplacevenice-1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2/#2071168"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/ac2_s_004-1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/assassins-creed-2/#2071169"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/ac2_s_018-1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Via <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/major-publishers-backs-eurogamer-expo">GamesIndustry.biz</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/13/assassins-creed-2-playable-at-eurogamer-expo-major-publishers/">Assassin's Creed 2 playable at Eurogamer Expo, major publishers backing show</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Aug 2009 14:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dave-perry">Dave Perry</a> will always have a place in our hearts, and so it's a bit difficult these days to write pieces on the man who created <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/earthworm-jim"><em>Earthworm Jim</em></a>. Doing his usual job of <em>outlandish claim-staking</em>, the man now known mostly for his company <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gaikai">Gaikai</a> and its streaming game service recently spoke to <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/dave-perry-talks-canned-game-plague">Eurogamer</a> about a canceled game of his, named <em>Plague</em>. <br /><br />"It was a little too big for Atari," he says. Allegedly, he was working with an author and intended to make a movie of the game. "It was a big deal," he added. He goes on to say that it included "nano-weapons" that would "generate objects and delete [them] in real-time." He even teases that the game idea is "nowhere near done." Unfortunately, he's a bit busy at the moment trying to get his unicorn-powered magic carpet off the ground to work on it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/05/dave-perry-discusses-canned-atari-project-plague/">Dave Perry discusses canned Atari project, 'Plague'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Aug 2009 23:00:00 EST. Though we could call the list of folks showing their faces in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tony-hawk-ride"><span style="font-style: italic;">Tony Hawk Ride</span></a> a whole mess of things, one we wouldn't call it is "celebrity." Rather than drop in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Hawk_(series)#Cameos">famous folks</a> like Steve-O or, umm, Wolverine, the list that <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/tony-hawk-skater-roster-revealed">Eurogamer</a> nabbed features more <span style="font-style: italic;">actual</span> <span style="font-style: italic;">skateboarders</span> than anything else. <br /><br />From Steve Nesser to Dustin Dollin to Mike "I beat up four dudes by myself" Vallely, the roster features little in the way of traditional Tony Hawk tomfoolery. Don't let the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/26/tony-hawk-rides-board-powered-by-dual-accelerometers-imaginati/">halfway-there hoverboard</a> fool you, dearest reader, this is clearly a more serious skateboarding entry in the <span style="font-style: italic;">Tony Hawk</span> game franchise. Peep the entirety of the list after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/31/activision-details-tony-hawk-rides-celebrity-roster/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Activision details Tony Hawk Ride's 'celebrity' roster</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/31/activision-details-tony-hawk-rides-celebrity-roster/">Activision details Tony Hawk Ride's 'celebrity' roster</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 31 Jul 2009 17:45:00 EST. Let's face it, folks -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/22/happy-belated-10th-birthday-halo/">ten years</a> is a long time to be working on a single franchise. That ten years could feel like a lot more when you're rarely on break, back in the development seat for another new <em>Halo</em> nearly every two years. Such is the tale for ex-Microsoft developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/bungie">Bungie Studios</a>, who told <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/100/1007095p1.html">IGN UK</a> at this week's San Diego Comic-Con, "After <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/halo-reach"><em>Reach</em></a> that's it for us." Meaning that after next year's <em>Halo: Reach</em> ships to stores, Bungie is out of the alien killin', FPS genre -- at least those starring members of the UNSC, that is.<br /><br />Though Bungie's Lars Bakken doesn't go into tons of detail about the studio's next game, he does say, "We're already working on a new IP that we can't talk about yet ... we've done a lot of different styles - first person to third person to RTS - so it could be anything." Eurogamer found out earlier in the day from Bakken that the upcoming game has yet to find a publisher, though Bungie is currently in talks with various companies and he says, "those talks are, I guess, close." Future <em>Halo</em> titles (you thought <em>Reach</em> was the last?) will be handled by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/21/microsoft-files-trademark-for-343-industries/">343 Industries</a>, the recently trademarked, Microsoft-owned studio.<br /><br />We contacted Bungie for comment on Mr. Bakken's comments and were told, "While it's great to see so much public interest over what the future holds for Bungie, we're not ready to talk about any plans or games beyond <em>Halo 3: ODST</em> or <em>Halo: Reach</em>. It's no secret that we've had multiple projects in development nor that we've also been working on original IP in tandem to our <em>Halo</em> titles but our focus right now is on our two upcoming releases. We'll have more to say when the time is right."<br /><br /><a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/100/1007095p1.html">Source 1</a> - IGN UK<br /><a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/new-bungie-ip-deal-close">Source 2</a> - Eurogamer<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/24/bungie-says-halo-reach-is-its-last-halo-game-working-on-new-ip/">Bungie says Halo: Reach is its last Halo game, working on new IP with new publisher</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Jul 2009 18:14:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/thatgamecompany">thatgamecompany</a>, aside from giving us a chance to start this paragraph off with a lowercase letter for once, is currently hard at work on its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/01/flow-on-dec-19-for-ps3-2-more-titles-from-usc-devs-in-the-work/">third contractual Sony project</a>. At the Develop Conference in the UK this morning, tgc's Jenova Chen had a handful of artfully abstract information to drop on conference attendees regarding the upcoming game. He said the project "feels like a natural progression" from the company's other titles and will be "something you've never experienced before." So, <em>Flowest</em> confirmed? Not quite.<br /><br />"In the future there's a lot of feelings that video games haven't explored that are open for us to find," Chen said -- he specifically cited <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/god-of-war"><em>God of War</em></a> as "a really good game about hatred." As <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/flower-dev-doing-third-game-for-sony">Eurogamer</a> points out in its coverage of the conference, Chen repeatedly cited the iteration time necessary for a game concept to go into full production -- he says that the concept for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/flower"><em>Flower</em></a> took about two years -- and as such, may very well not have any solid information to talk about regarding his company's next game. Have you considered the fourth dimension, Mr. Chen? <em>Hmm?</em><br /><br />

In fairness, Metanet Software's first video for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/robotology"><em>Robotology</em></a> (found after the break) is more physics demo than it is gameplay demo -- or even proof of concept, for that matter. Though considering the pedigree behind the game (Metanet made <em>N+</em>, <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/07/03/metanet-n-next-weeks-xbox-live-deal/">this week's Xbox Live deal</a>!), we're willing to overlook the less than thrilling minute-plus video in celebration of the sheer tenacity with which Metanet attacks its game development.<br /><br />In fact, according to the <a href="http://www.metanetsoftware.com/blog/?p=334">Metanet website</a>, the action in the video represents, "almost 800 lines of code, painstakingly hand-transcribed from graph paper and Flash mockups" -- oh my! Here's hoping it all pays off when the game ships ... eventually. And now, friends, we play <em>the waiting game</em>. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/metanet-finally-shows-robotology">Eurogamer</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/05/the-first-video-of-n-devs-robotology/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The first video of N+ dev's 'Robotology' </em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/05/the-first-video-of-n-devs-robotology/">The first video of N+ dev's 'Robotology' </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 05 Jul 2009 11:30:00 EST. Apparently, for the Nintendo Wii (according to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lost-winds"><em>Lost Winds</em></a> developer David Braben), the folks reviewing Wii games are the wrong people for the job. Responding to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/10/moore-says-metacritic-not-so-relevant-to-wii-sales/">comments made by EA Sports' Peter Moore</a> earlier this month regarding low metacritic scores for Wii games and its less than serious effect on sales numbers of said games, Frontier Developments head David Braben told <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/wii-reviewers-are-the-problem-braben">Eurogamer</a> that, "Most reviewers are what are often called 'core gamers' - and these family-focused games tend to appeal less to them." <br /><br />And he makes a good point. If Joystiq's readership is primarily "core gamers," what's the point in covering casual fare meant for more mainstream crowds? Braben continues, "It throws up a difficult dilemma for those reviewers ... are they reviewing the game for those people likely to play it, or for those people who form the bulk of their readership?" We put it to you, Joystiq loyalists: Continue to cover games intended for a "casual," more mainstream audience (as well as more "hardcore" titles), or focus on "core" games coverage exclusively?<br /><br />

We've already seen the new, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/09/whoa-max-payne-is-a-total-slob/">grizzled face of Max Payne</a> in upcoming sequel <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/max-payne-3"><em>Max Payne 3</em></a>, and found out a few <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/13/max-payne-3-details-from-game-informer-hit-the-web/">details on the game</a> from Game Informer's preview of the title. More news coming out of July's GI today (via <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/rockstar-using-new-payne-voice-actor">Eurogamer</a>) says that the game's titular character will lose the first two games' voice actor, James McCaffrey, and be replaced by, well, we're not quite sure yet.<br />
<br />
"We're good at casting," Jeronimo Barrera of the game's developer, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rockstar">Rockstar Games</a>, points out. "All the <em>Max Payne</em> themes will remain intact - manipulation, betrayal, and the stuff that really made <em>Max Payne</em>," art director Rob Nelson backs the decision up with. And so it seems that, while the various themes may stay intact, the main character's look and sound have absolutely changed. Here's hoping Rockstar doesn't change the title to "<em>Minimum Pleasure</em>!"<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/15/max-payne-3-gets-different-older-voice-actor/">Max Payne 3 gets different, older voice actor</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Jun 2009 19:45:00 EST. Apparently the company that owns Criterion (EA -- duh!) and the company itself don't agree on whether or not the Xbox 360 has been "maxed out." Speaking to <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/criterion-nobodys-maxed-out-ps3-360">Eurogamer</a>, Criterion's technical director Richard Parr said, "That's proof that you're not the best ... it means you're out of ideas." <br /><br />Dedicated Joystiq Biomass[TM] members will remember when, just three days ago, vice president of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/10/ea-exec-360-has-already-been-maxed-out/">EA Europe Patrick Soderlund said</a>, "I think that we've maxed out the 360 but we haven't maxed out the PS3." So, what is it, folks? Is the 360 already meeting its limits? Will the rumored <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/13/rumor-natal-part-of-new-xbox-console-due-fall-2010/">new Xbox console of Fall 2010</a> help to assuage Mr. Soderlund's claims? Will Criterion get in a slapfight with EA Europe? We'll just have to wait and see.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/13/criterion-thinks-if-youve-maxed-out-the-360-youre-not-trying/">Criterion thinks if you've maxed out the 360, you're not trying hard enough</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 13 Jun 2009 13:00:00 EST. While Activision is still keeping mum on whether or not the ability to use guitars in all tracks of the game (none the less vocals) will be shipping with <em>DJ Hero</em>, apparently the folks working on the game think including their turntable in <em>Guitar Hero</em> titles "Sounds like a great idea!"<br /><br />In fact, both the <em>DJ Hero</em> team and Neversoft (developers of the <em>Guitar Hero</em> franchise) seem open to the idea of cross-game instrument implementation (say that three times fast). <em>GH</em> director Brian Bright told <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/neversoft-hints-at-turntable-control-for-gh">Eurogamer</a>, "We would love to integrate in the future," speaking to the cross-franchise possibilities with each game's respective peripheral. However, <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/realtime-worlds-hints-at-apb-for-e3">Eurogamer recently got an intriguing response</a> from Realtime after inquiring about the crime-filled MMO's MicroCon debut.<br /><br />Realtime Worlds boss Colin MacDonald responded to Eurogamer's query, saying, "I couldn't possibly comment at the moment," but went on to add, "if we happened to be going, I'm sure we would make it known before too much longer, and we'd certainly give Eurogamer a shout to try to meet up." Nintendo of Europe reps have called the recent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/04/rumor-release-list-dates-wii-sports-resort-with-motionplus-rev/">release list with <em>MotionPlus</em></a> dated on it "purely rumor and speculation," reports <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/july-motionplus-date-is-speculation-nintendo">Eurogamer</a>. This news comes after reports last week that July 10th would see not only the release of the <em>MotionPlus</em> add-on, but Nintendo's followup to <em>Wii Sports</em>, <em>Wii Sports Resort</em>, as well.<br /><br />The report also mentions <em>Wii Fit Plus</em>, a game/expansion/whozeewhatsit set to drop on November 19, though NoE makes no mention of the mystery title in the conversation. We've asked for comment from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nintendo">Nintendo of America</a> and will update if and when we hear something from the perpetually tight-lipped publisher.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/07/nintendo-of-europe-calls-motionplus-release-date-rumor-and-spec/">Nintendo of Europe calls MotionPlus release date 'rumor and speculation'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Apr 2009 04:00:00 EST. Thanks to the fine French-speaking folks at <a href="http://www.eurogamer.fr/">Eurogamer France</a>, Eurogamer has a more thorough translation of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/03/beyond-good-and-evil-2-to-be-bigger-better-more-badass/">Michel Ancel's interview</a> regarding his upcoming game for Ubisoft, <em>Beyond Good &amp; Evil 2</em>. According to their translation, Ancel reveals inspiration in "the theme of September 11 - the CNN show with army messages and the fear climate," among other, totally different things, like <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayao_Miyazaki">Hayao Miyazaki</a> for instance.<br />
<br />
He also revealed that this sequel will be a direct continuation of the story from the original <em>BG&amp;E</em>, saying, "The story continues and we'll react on important events of the first." We've still got no good information on platforms or release date but hopefully the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/esa-exec-e3-2009-to-bring-back-glamour-and-sizzle/">re-embiggened E3 Expo</a> will shed some light on the game. "Players who like the first should like the second," Ancel left the interviewer with. We're keeping hope alive.<br />

As hinted by the official <em>Puzzle Quest Galactrix</em> <a href="http://www.playpuzzlequestgalactrix.com/">flash demo</a>, the game has been confirmed by D3Publisher (via <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/puzzle-quest-galactrix-heading-to-psn">Eurogamer</a>) to have a planned release on the PSN. <em>Galactrix</em> will be similar to the original <em>Challenge Of The Warlords</em> in terms of gameplay, but will feature a science fiction setting, rather than a fantasy one. If you haven't played <em>Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords</em> yet, be sure to give it a go. You've no excuse really, it's on practically every system available.<br /><br />Currently price and release date info is a mystery, but <em>Galactrix</em> is supposed to release around March.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/22/puzzle-quest-galactrix-boldly-going-to-psn/">Puzzle Quest Galactrix boldly going to PSN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Jan 2009 11:15:00 EST. Sometimes when Sony refuses to comment on something, there are others who will be happy to do so. In the case of release dates, retailers are the best people to turn to and, as Eurogamer have found out, tend to know when high profile games are likely to be released. Like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/killzone-2"><em>Killzone 2</em></a> hitting the UK on February 27th, two days after certain other European territories. It's unconfirmed by SCEE, but these are the dates certain retailers have been "advised to expect" the launch.<br /><br />This falls in line with the American release date, which is also February 27th. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/europe-to-receive-killzone-2-demo-no-strings-attached/">A demo</a> is also expected to hit sometime before the game launches.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/retailers-say-killzone-2-hits-uk-on-february-27th/">Retailers say Killzone 2 hits UK on February 27th</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 08 Jan 2009 14:00:00 EST. Eurogamer claims a <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/killzone-2-demo-for-uk-psn-pre-release">source</a> close to Sony has indicated that if the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/killzone-2"><em>Killzone 2</em></a> demo clears QA, it'll "almost certainly" be released in Europe before the game storms store shelves. This information comes hot on the heels of Sony America's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/05/scea-killzone-2-demo-exclusive-to-gamestop-on-psn-after-releas/">confirmation</a> that a North American demo will not be available until after the game launches on February 27.<br /><br />Now, here's where wordplay makes the situation sticky. <em>Killzone 2</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/05/killzone-2-release-date-is-feb-27-similar-timeframe-for-pal/">doesn't currently have a clear release date</a> in Europe. So, depending on when Europe actually gets an official date, the demo and game could very well be out in North America before Europe enters the zone of killing.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/eurogamer-europe-may-get-pre-launch-killzone-2-demo/">Eurogamer: Europe may get pre-launch Killzone 2 demo</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Jan 2009 12:56:00 EST. A <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/no-lego-potter-in-09-says-source">Eurogamer</a> source claims that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/travellers-tales">Traveller's Tales</a> isn't making a <em>Lego Harry Potter</em> game this year. This follows <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/02/rumor-lego-harry-potter-in-the-works/">rumors</a> that a brickitized Potter title was in the works, courtesy of the folks behind <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/lego-star-wars"><em>Lego Star Wars</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/lego-indiana-jones"><em>Lego Indy</em></a>. Said rumor has been floating around ever since Warner Bros., which holds the wizard's movie rights, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/08/warner-bros-buys-tt-games/">bought TT in 2007</a>.<br /><br />The Eurogamer source also claims a new installment of <em>Lego Indiana Jones</em> is likely to arrive this year. At this point, we're willing to believe almost any franchise can be turned into a TT Lego game. Well, that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/03/rumor-travellers-tales-working-on-lego-rock-band/">Lego Rock Band</a></em> rumor is still a bit weird.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/05/rumor-no-lego-harry-potter-in-09/">Rumor: No Lego Harry Potter in '09</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Jan 2009 17:20:00 EST. Eurogamer reports that "publishing sources" indicate that Sony is planning to release the PSP-4000 in late '09 and will eventually launch a PSP2. This news is sure to come as a big shock to Sony Europe president David Reeves, who <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/scee-boss-psp-2-not-planned-psp-is-devs-last-pick/">stated</a> last week that there were "currently no plans for a PSP2." <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=343940">Eurogamer</a> sources divulge that titles are currently in development for the unannounced handheld.<br /><br />Obviously, we hope the PSP-4000 fixes the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/21/scei-psp-brites-scanlines-caused-by-hardware-no-plans-to-fix/">current iteration's interlacing issues</a>. Sony UK informed Eurogamer that it would not comment on the story, due to the classic tag team of "rumour" and "speculation."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/rumor-psp-4000-in-2009-psp2-in-the-works/">Rumor: PSP-4000 in 2009, PSP2 in the works</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Dec 2008 08:10:00 EST. SCEE has confirmed to Eurogamer that the PS3 controller chatpad add-on will be making its way to European stores before its American release in "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/ps3-chatpad-officially-coming-in-december/">early December.</a>" Specificially, Europeans will be able to get their hands on the full qwerty keyboard controller expansion on November 28th for the price of &pound;24.99. No price in Euros has been revealed yet. <br /><br />A touch pricey, but the chatpad will be very handy for those who prefer to text chat rather than using a headset. Games like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> can only benefit from it, not to mention the imminent <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/home">Home</a> </em>open beta. Might be worth grabbing just for that.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/18/chatpad-coming-to-europe-november-28th/">Chatpad coming to Europe November 28th</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Nov 2008 11:45:00 EST. Nothing's confirmed, but it seems that one of EA's external PR partners may have let slip a possible release windows for <em>Rock Band 2</em> in Europe. Originally they claimed, whilst <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=270687">talking to Eurogamer</a>, that the game would be out "this side of Christmas." Eurogamer followed up with EA's internal PR team to check on the information and all they were told was the usual spiel: "MTV, Harmonix and EA have not formally confirmed a UK release date for <em>Rock Band 2</em>."<br /><br />The same external PR partner sent out another email correcting their earlier "mistake." If it was indeed such a thing. If, on the other hand, this release window is accurate, we'll be very pleased. The almost year-long delay between US and European release for <em>Rock Band 1</em> went beyond a joke and with <em>Guitar Hero: World Tour</em> releasing next week a lot of Europeans are looking for instant gratification with an, in our opinion, inferior product. If <em>Rock Band 2</em> really releases this year then it's definitely worth waiting for, for the breadth of DLC alone.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.videogaming247.com/2008/10/28/euro-rock-band-2-released-this-side-of-christmas-says-ea/">VideoGaming247</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/rumor-rock-band-2-in-europe-this-side-of-xmas/">Rumor: Rock Band 2 in Europe this side of Xmas </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Oct 2008 17:10:00 EST. So it turns out the <em>LittleBigPlanet</em> beta begins pretty soon. Like, tomorrow. Want to be involved? Eurogamer are giving away 5800 beta codes on a first-come first-serve basis. These are obviously dwindling rapidly, so <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=243270">get your skates on</a>. We're not sure what the beta entails, exactly, but it begins tomorrow and ends on the 12th or October. You'll be able to make your own levels which, we suspect, will be populating the servers once the game releases at the end of next month. We suspect these beta codes will only work in Europe, but we should be hearing about the American method of entry any day now.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/23/littlebigplanet-beta-begins-tomorrow-codes-available-on-eurogam/">LittleBigPlanet beta begins tomorrow, codes available on Eurogamer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Sep 2008 13:18:00 EST. Whoops! Looks like Sony might have accidentally let <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/life-with-playstation"><em>Life With PlayStation</em></a> slip out into the public domain. Not for long, though, the service is now unavailable again. Though <a href="http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psnetwork&amp;thread.id=354181&amp;view=by_date_ascending&amp;page=7">a few Americans</a> managed to get their hands on it, Sony has <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=239847">told Eurogamer</a> that "while testing the application, <em>Life with PlayStation</em> was available for download temporarily, by mistake." No doubt we'll be seeing a release date announcement pretty soon, which is good because the worldwide weather and news service has been delayed numerous times since July. Not that we can get <em>too</em> excited about it -- we already have that functionality on our TVs and laptops (not to mention our Wiis).<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Video proof, after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/life-with-playstation-was-downloadable-but-not-for-long/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Life With PlayStation was downloadable, but not for long</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/life-with-playstation-was-downloadable-but-not-for-long/">Life With PlayStation was downloadable, but not for long</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Sep 2008 08:30:00 EST. The Eurogamer Network <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/eurogamer-expo-announced-for-lgf">announced</a> today that its first Eurogamer Expo will be held at Old Truman Brewery in London this Oct. 28-29. More details about the show will be announced shortly, but we already know that the event will be split into two sessions each day: 11AM-4PM and 5PM-10PM.<br /><br />The games announced to be playable at the event are <em>Street Fighter IV, Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge, LittleBigPlanet, Tomb Raider Underworld, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Saints Row 2</em> "and many more." Looks like Europe is just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/02/cologne-and-leipzig-dont-make-us-turn-this-car-around/">piling on the gaming conventions</a> at this point.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/03/eurogamer-expo-in-london-oct-28-29/">Eurogamer Expo hitting London Oct. 28-29</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 03 Sep 2008 17:30:00 EST. You just knew this was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/playtv-recordings-will-have-no-restrictions-drm-or-encryptions/">too good to be true</a>, right? <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=212585">Eurogamer</a> got in touch with Sony, who told them that PlayTV's saved video files will not be transferable to other devices, including the PSP, PC or memory cards. You will still be able to stream live or recorded content to your PSP via Remote Play. This completely contradicts <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/26/playtv-recordings-will-have-no-restrictions-drm-or-encryptions/">what we were told earlier</a>. No reason was stated for this aberration.<br /><br />Furthermore, PlayTV will be unable to record HD signals, at least at launch. However, Sony is looking to add the feature some time in the future. With these reductions in features, will you still be picking the &pound;69.99 device up come September 19th? </div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/13/playtv-recorded-content-will-not-be-transferable/">PlayTV recorded content will not be transferable</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 Aug 2008 14:30:00 EST. Despite Mr. Sony Europe, David Reeves, telling the world that <em>PlayTV</em> would be with us as soon as September 10th, Eurogamer has been told by SCEE that the device will now not be available until the 19th. Reeves also stated a price of &euro;99, which has also been confirmed false. <em>PlayTV </em>will now set you back &pound;69.99. A much better price point than the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/13/playtv-dvr-gets-priced-dated/">originally rumored &pound;100</a>.<br /><br />In case you're not aware, <em>PlayTV</em> is an add-on for the PS3 which will allow you to watch and record SD and HD freeview channels. You will be able to watch and record separate channels at the same time and even play games while recording is taking place. This is a Europe-only device, however, thanks to something that involves a lot of very technical TV jargon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/12/playtv-coming-september-29th-reasonably-priced/">PlayTV coming September 19th, reasonably priced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Aug 2008 15:00:00 EST. Brawl</em> information</a>, another leak about another major Nintendo series would seem to good to be true. And it probably was, because while GoNintendo is <a href="http://gonintendo.com/?p=34347">reporting</a> the coming issue of Germany's NMag has some new information about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/nintendo-announces-online-wii-mario-kart-wii-wheel/"><em>Mario Kart Wii</em></a>, Eurogamer is <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=91606">reporting</a> that Nintendo has dismissed the widely-publicized report as "just pure rumour and speculation on their part."<br /><br />Which doesn't mean it won't end up being true. NMag's reported predictions range from the incredibly obvious (the controls will be similar to <em>Excite Truck</em>) to the only slightly obvious (powerslides and snaking will return) to the non-obvious but still unsurprising (online battle mode, Baby Peach and Baby Boo as characters).<br /><br />Come on NMag ... if you're going to speculate, you might as well throw some really crazy stuff out there. Here, we'll get you started: Sonic will be a playable character, but he won't have a kart, he'll just run! Wart from <em>Super Mario Bros. 2</em> will be featured in a boss race! On-track coins can be used to purchase Wii Shop points! <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=80769&amp;page=1">Eurogamer</a> has posted a list of their most wanted games on the PS3 for 2007 and, in doing so, have produced possible the most concise list of the console's lineup this year. With a short blurb on each game, including release date and link to screenshots, this is a great page to forward to your friends if they're on the fence about getting a PS3 this year. Even with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/GTAIV"><em>GTA IV</em></a>'s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/02/gta-iv-gets-delayed-till-second-quarter-08/">recent delay</a>, there's enough there to make our wallets weep in terrified anticipation.<br /><br />Check below for their top 5, then <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=80769&amp;page=1">click through</a> for the rest. Though, we're curious. Where are <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/GuitarHero3"><em>Guitar Hero III</em></a> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Folklore/">Folklore</a></em>? Are there any other games they've missed?<br />

We knew the demo was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/18/heavenly-sword-demo-is-in-the-bag-ready-for-release/">done</a>, but now we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/18/heavenly-sword-demo-is-in-the-bag-ready-for-release/">officially find out</a> that many will get to experience the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/15/joystiq-impressions-heavenly-sword-ps3/">intensity</a> of <em>Heavenly Sword</em> this Thursday. We hope it ends up being everyone, but we only have <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=80202">confirmation</a> of Europe at this point from EuroGamer. IGN says it should "hit other territories around the same time as Europe, according to Sony." Hopefully this Thursday, PS3 owners will be able to experience the demo - the same one used at Sony's Gamer Day - that everyone has been desperately trying not to call <em>Goddess of War</em>. <br /><br /><em>Heavenly Sword</em> is expected in September, giving PS3 owners something to play while Xbox owners immerse themselves in all things <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo3/"><em>Halo 3</em></a>.<em> Heavenly Sword </em>is one of the games <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/16/joystiq-impressions-ratchet-and-clank-future-ps3/">coming this fall</a> which will hold the system together through this <a href="http://threespeech.com/blog/?p=506">non-critical holiday season</a>. We're just glad to finally be able to play a good PS3 exclusive that doesn't start with <em>Resistance</em> and end with <em>Fall of Man</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/23/sony-confirms-heavenly-sword-demo-this-thursday/">Sony confirms Heavenly Sword demo in Europe this Thursday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Jul 2007 10:59:00 EST. He says in the next five years the MMO business model will change to accommodate using real-life money to buy in-game currency. <br /><br />Steefel says, "Our position is pretty straightforward right now. Our responsibility is to the subscribers of the game, to deliver to them the experience they expect. So we certainly do not support people farming or taking advantage of the system in that way. It's against our Terms of Service and we do try and enforce that. ... But, we all know that something will happen in the next two to five years to business models in general, so we're paying attention to what's going on; watching what's going on with Sony Station whose servers support and manage this."<br /><br />Sony Station Exchange is the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2005/08/26/sonys-everquest-auction-site-a-success/">controversial pay for item model</a>. Advocates say it's a way for people who don't have the time, to pay their way into the game. Many gamers consider it corporate sponsored <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/29/bbc-examines-wows-chinese-gold-farmers/">gold farming</a>. Even if you purchase an item through an exchange, you can always sell it in-game for currency. Paying your way into an MMO just feels like an athlete using steroids. Sure, you can argue that if the means are there and the time isn't, why not do it? We just don't know how we'd feel about playing a game where you can, as part of the rules, pay a company extra money to get ahead.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/30/lotro-producer-says-real-money-for-game-items-is-the-future/">LotRO producer says real money for game items is the future</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 May 2007 18:45:00 EST. While the complete interview is not yet available - Eurogamer will be posting it up tomorrow morning - a snippet regarding the possible multiplayer aspect of the game was 'released early'. If you will.<br /><br />The gist is, similarly to Insomniac's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/11/ign-interview-ratchet-and-clank-devs/"><em>Ratchet and Clank Future</em> development philosophy</a>, Ninja Theory have been focusing on the single player aspect of the game so that it can be as deep and immersive as possible. But there's a twist. With the combat system being developed on multiplayer test levels there is a strong possibility that we will see some form of multiplayer become part of the game. Not at launch, however, but as a downloadable expansion at some point. Antoniades assures that when it's done, it will be done <em>right</em>. Not 'slapped-on to please marketing tick-boxes', as he puts it. Excellent.<br /><br />Be sure to check out Eurogamer tomorrow for the full interview. No doubt I'll have one of my famous (they are famous, right ..?) summaries up before too long, too.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/16/heavenly-sword-90-complete-multiplayer-add-on-a-possibility/">Heavenly Sword 90% complete - Multiplayer add-on a possibility</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 May 2007 12:15:00 EST.
