It's finally the last day of the Steam Summer Sale and we ... what's that? There's another day of this madness? That's just great. Well, hopefully you didn't budget your lemonade stand money the way we did this year in order to account for <em>tomorrow</em>, the final day of the sales promotion.<br /><br />It's hard to keep up when today's sales include <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/200010/?snr=1_4_4__sdd"><em>Quantum Conundrum</em></a> and <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sub/4638/?snr=1_4_4__sdd"><em>Arma 2: Combined Operations</em></a>, both at 40% off. Also, <em><a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sub/15401/?snr=1_4_4__sdd">Batman: Arkham City</a></em> stands alone at 66% off, plenty of reason for us to pretend July 22 isn't even on the calendar. While we're at it, <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sub/8233/?snr=1_4_4__sdd"><em>Prince of Persia</em></a>, <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/71000/?snr=1_4_4__sdd"><em>Evochron Mercenary</em></a>, <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/41500/?snr=1_4_4__sdd"><em>Torchlight</em></a>, <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sub/15349/?snr=1_4_4__sdd"><em>Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2</em></a>, and <em><a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sale/Fable3Sale?snr=1_4_4__sdd">Fable 3</a></em> are tempting us with a 75% discount. Finally, the <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/sub/15389/">indie bundle</a> for today includes <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/63710/?snr=1_6_4__421"><em>Bit.Trip Runner</em></a>, <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/41210/?snr=1_6_4__421"><em>Eufloria</em></a>, and <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/40700/?snr=1_6_4__421"><em>Machinarium</em></a>.<br /><br />Enough about games, who wants to buy some delicious lemonade so we're ready for tomorrow's sales?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/21/steam-summer-sale-day-10-batman-arkham-city-torchlight-quant/">Steam Summer Sale, Day 10: Batman Arkham City, Torchlight, Quantum Conundrum and more</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 21 Jul 2012 19:30:00 EST. Another legendary Steam sale is coming to a close today -- it's day five of the <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/">Autumn Sale</a>, which means we're in the final hours of snagging some sweet and savory fall deals. Microsoft's annual Holiday bundle streak continues this year, with two different SKUs: one targeting the family crowd that enjoys flailing around together, the other targeting the hardcore gaming crowd that's all about no-scoping domes. Both bundles are shipping to retailers today, <a href="http://majornelson.com/2011/10/18/xbox-360-250gb-holiday-bundles/">Major Nelson</a> says.<br />
<br />
The first bundle includes a 250 GB Xbox 360 S console with a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kinect">Kinect</a>, a copy of <em>Kinect Adventures </em>and <em>Carnival Games: Monkey See Monkey Do</em>, and three months of Xbox Live Gold, all for $399.99. The other bundle has a suggested price of $299.99, and sports a 250 GB Xbox 360 S console, three months of Xbox Live Gold and copies of <em>Halo: Reach</em> (downloadable) and <em>Fable 3</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/18/microsoft-lines-up-two-xbox-360-bundles-for-the-holidays/">Microsoft lines up two Xbox 360 bundles for the holidays</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Oct 2011 18:00:00 EST. Do you come from the school of thought that equates "free stuff" with "money saved"? Is a $20 gift card as good as $20 off? Did you buy that useless robotic vacuum dog because it was so steeply discounted you'd practically <em>lose money not buying it</em>? We understand your plight, friend. And if you're Canadian, we think we've got a deal for you.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/24/xbox-250gb-bundle-throws-in-alan-wake-gears-2-and-3-more/">News broke yesterday</a> that our gentle neighbors to the north would be alone in getting the above limited edition Xbox 360 bundle which, while still $300, manages to throw enough free stuff in there that we're actively considering a pricey Canadian road trip --- we'd practically lose money if we didn't buy it! Your $300 nets you a 250GB Xbox 360 S console, and full game downloads of <em>Halo 3</em>, <em>Gears of War 2</em>, <em>Fable 3</em>, <em>Halo Wars</em>, and the excellent <em>Alan Wake</em>. And, beginning today, it's available at Canadian retailers like Future Shop and Best Buy.<br />
<br />
It's not a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/24/european-xbox-boss-not-feeling-pressured-to-cut-360-price/">price cut</a>, but who needs cash off when you could get that much <em>free stuff</em>?<br />

Reader Darren Christie tweeted a rather official-looking image of a new Xbox 360 bundle. According to the picture, taken at the Future Shop store in which Christie works, the new package includes a 250GB Xbox 360 console and download codes for five of its biggest games: <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/alan-wake">Alan Wake</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/halo-3">Halo 3</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/halo-wars">Halo Wars</a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/fable-3">Fable 3</a></em>, and <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/gears-of-war-2"><em>Gears of War 2</em></a>. In addition to being big in terms of profile, they're also big in terms of file size, with the box warning that these games will occupy 29.51 GB on the hard drive.<br />
<br />
Christie told us that the bundle will be released tomorrow for $299.99. He is located in Canada, so it's possible this hardware package is a Canadian-only promotion. We've checked in with Microsoft to get the details. Just to be safe, maybe you should wait a day or so before buying an Xbox.<br />
<br />

Young people may choose to rely on new-fangled methods like websites and E3 press conferences for the announcement of new <em>Fable</em> games, but we're far too rooted in tradition for that. No, we learn about the existence of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-the-journey">new<em> Fable</em> game</a> by hearing Peter Molyneux admit there were problems with the last Fable game, <em>the way our grandfathers did it</em>.<br />
<br />
In an interview with <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/6415/peter_molyneux_on_building_the_.php">Gamasutra</a>, Molyneux admitted the game wasn't "all he dreamed it would be" saying, "It's hard to be completely honest without offending people; but I know, when I read in the middle of a review [of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a>] that said the quality just wasn't good enough, I actually agree with those reviews."<br />
<br />
Now, that's the headline of course, and the reason you're reading this post in the first place, but you owe it to yourself to read Molyneux's explanation. He manages to get across why <em>Fable 3</em> didn't meet its full potential (not enough time, primarily) without excusing the game's failings.<br />
<br />
Oh Peter, you always know the <em>perfect</em> thing to say to win us over. ... Unless you're saying, "Hey, our game is done, let's sell it to people." Other than that, though, <em>perfect</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/27/molyneux-admits-fable-3-wasnt-all-he-dreamed-it-would-be/">Molyneux admits Fable 3 wasn't 'all he dreamed it would be'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 27 Jun 2011 14:40:00 EST. If you've been nervous about testing out <em>Fable 3</em>'s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/26/fable-3-review">streamlined</a>, yet still <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/17/fable-3-combat-lead-gets-combative-about-games-reception/">buggy</a>, mechanics, we've got some good news. It's a comfort to know that though <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a> (launching today on PC) may have represented a downturn in quality from Lionhead's previous game, the studio's talent for utter delusion is as robust as ever.<br />
<br />
Combat lead Mike West starts out well enough, detailing for <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-05-17-making-a-better-fable-iii-for-pc-interview">Eurogamer</a> some improvements in the PC port, like control schemes optimized for mouse and keyboard and a beefed-up graphical engine that supports higher resolutions and 3D effects. But when West starts defending <em>Fable 3</em> against critics, things get ... weird. Here's a sample.<br />
<br />
<meta charset="utf-8" />
"[<em>Fable 3</em>] is a better game than <em>Fable 2</em>."<br />
<br />
... That's not a good start, but keep going.<br />
<br />
"<em>Fable 3</em> wasn't very buggy - it was pretty polished. It all fitted together very well and as a product it was very good."<br />
<br />
If you'll remember, as with all "pretty polished" games, Lionhead had to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/02/fable-3-fixes-incoming-lionhead-asking-for-bug-submissions/">solicit bug reports</a> from the community <em>after the game's release</em>.<br />
<br />
"People saying the story wasn't very good was unfair. It's an interesting situation of you gather people together and then defeating the main bad guy."<br />
<br />
Umm, Mike? ... Hey Mike? That last thing you said? That's not really what happens in your game. Well, it's what happens in the first half. ... Oh, wait, did you only play the first half? Not that we blame you of course, but it would explain <em>so much</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/17/fable-3-combat-lead-gets-combative-about-games-reception/">Fable 3 combat lead gets combative about game's reception</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 May 2011 13:00:00 EST. <span style="color: black;">Microsoft today sent out the release schedule for Xbox Live Marketplace content over the next two weeks (May 10-23). The schedule was posted in the latest edition of the "Xbox Live Newsbeat" press email, which showed next Tuesday's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/la-noire"><em>L.A. Noire</em></a> "In the Spotlight."<br />
<br />
"</span>In celebration of launch on May 17," the newsletter teases, "take your <em>L.A. Noire</em> experience to the next level and download the 'L.A. Noire Rockstar Pass' add-on." The Rockstar Pass what now?<br />
<br />
Releasing day and date with the retail game, the 800-point DLC "Pass" is presumably a sort of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/project-ten-dollar">Project Ten Dollar</a> experiment. It's unclear, however, if it will provide access to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/24/la-noire-pre-order-bonuses-will-dress-either-you-or-detective-ph/">pre-order bonus content</a> (already <a href="http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/517050-l-a-noire-dlc-for-purchase">confirmed</a> to be made available for purchase "at some point after the game comes out") or offer wholly new content to all owners of the game. Perhaps it's a sort of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/cerberus-network/">Cerberus Network</a>-like pipeline for delivering new detective cases -- but that's just a guess. The Pass remains a mystery for now, as Rockstar has yet to respond to our request for clarification.<br />
<br />
Otherwise, the new Marketplace schedule has few intriguing reveals. Besides noting some previously announced dates and several Games on Demand launches, it does list <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/sega-rally-online-arcade"><em>Sega Rally Online Arcade</em></a> for release on Xbox Live Arcade next Wednesday, May 18, for $10. Some pirate-themed deals and the demo of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Fable-3,pc/"><em>Fable 3</em> for Windows</a> will also be available next week. Head past the break for the complete schedule.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update [5/18/11]:</strong> The due date came and went without the so-called "Rockstar Pass" appearing on the Xbox Marketplace -- and no mention is included in new copies of the game. Rockstar continues to keep mum on the subject.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/10/la-noire-rockstar-pass-add-on-spotlighted-in-xbox-marketplace/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LA Noire 'Rockstar Pass' add-on spotlighted in Xbox Marketplace release schedule</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/10/la-noire-rockstar-pass-add-on-spotlighted-in-xbox-marketplace/">LA Noire 'Rockstar Pass' add-on spotlighted in Xbox Marketplace release schedule</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 May 2011 16:30:00 EST. Despite what you learn in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-3/">Fable 3</a></em>, not everyone gets to be king. When it comes to PC gaming digital distribution platforms, there's only one king and its name is Steam ("Your Highness" will suffice). Microsoft, also known as the lowly Duke of Games for Windows, has finally seen fit to recognize Steam's monarchy and, as a form of tribute, will be offering its own <em>Fable 3</em> on the reigning platform as well as its own.<br />
<br />
But nothing is ever that simple in court politics! While both digital releases, as well as the retail version, will be simultaneous, only Games for Windows Marketplace shoppers will be treated to a free copy of <em>Fable: Lost Chapters</em>, the expanded update of the original <em>Fable</em>. Steam shoppers will get the far less desirable Rebel's Weapon &amp; Tattoo Pack, featuring some, uh ... weapons and tattoos for your hero. Retail shoppers get the security of a box and a disc, so that's something.<br />
<br />
Fable 3 is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/24/fable-3-pc-release-date/">due on PCs on May 17</a> in North America and shortly thereafter <em>elsewhere</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/21/fable-3-steam/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fable 3 will be crowned on Steam as well as Games for Windows</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/21/fable-3-steam/">Fable 3 will be crowned on Steam as well as Games for Windows</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 21 Apr 2011 11:32:00 EST. Revolution doesn't come free, as any, uh, revolter (revolutioneer?) will tell you. On May 17, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a> will launch on the Windows and bring with it a tale of two royal siblings vying for the crown -- but will you be able to cast off the shackles of oppression and fight for freedom? Probably not. I mean, have you ever <em>tried </em>to throw a shackle? They're <em>heavy!</em><br />
<br />
Anyway, Lionhead's passed along the system requirements for <em>Fable 3</em>, which aren't too heavy, and you can check them out past the break. Remember, it'll also run in 3D, which is kind of revolutionary for the series. That's it: r<em>evolutionary!</em><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/31/fable-3-pc-system-requirements-revealed-your-highness/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fable 3 PC system requirements revealed, your highness</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/31/fable-3-pc-system-requirements-revealed-your-highness/">Fable 3 PC system requirements revealed, your highness</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 31 Mar 2011 22:30:00 EST. Microsoft has revealed some of the content and deals coming to the Xbox Live Marketplace in early April, which include quite a few discounts. It kicks off this week with the launch of DLC for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mass-effect-2"><em>Mass Effect 2</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/you-dont-know-jack">You Don't Know Jack</a>, as well as some discounts on <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/comic-jumper"><em>Comic Jumper</em></a>, <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dealiest-warrior"><em>Deadliest Warrior</em></a> and the "Dead Money" DLC for <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/fallout-new-vegas"><em>Fallout: New Vegas</em></a>.<br />

	<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/18/following-fable-3-disappointment-molyneux-bounces-back-with-baf/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/03/baftamolyneux530pxheaderimg3421.jpg" /></a></div>
Poor Peter Molyneux was down in the dumps. Following the "justifiably" mixed reception of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a>, Molyneux was wondering if his career had already peaked. "We just weren't good enough with the craft of what we did. That always makes you reflect," he recently told <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2011/mar/18/peter-molyneux-bafta-game-awards">The Guardian</a>. Apparently, Molyneux was even doubting his future in game development.<br />
<br />
"'Have I already created the greatest game I'm ever going to create? Is the rest just a downhill struggle?'" he asked himself "late one night" a few months back. But then, the very next day he received a letter informing him of a BAFTA Fellowship nomination -- an honor <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/17/bafta-names-mass-effect-2-as-game-of-the-year-reveals-all-2011/">he received in-person</a> this past weekend. "As I walked up on stage I almost fainted. There was this sea of faces, and lots of people I've worked with before, and everyone stood. I was choking up," he admitted. "It was an incredible feeling, and I do immediately want to go home and start proving that I'm really, truly worthy of this."<br />
<br />
Molyneux noted during his acceptance speech that his cyclical over-promising isn't a PR tactic as much as it's him "over-believing" in his own products. "I always truly believe that this is going to be the greatest game of all time -- I wouldn't try to do it any other way," he said. And we wouldn't want you to, Molyneux.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/18/following-fable-3-disappointment-molyneux-bounces-back-with-baf/">Following Fable 3 disappointment, Molyneux bounces back with BAFTA award</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Mar 2011 19:00:00 EST. You know what you like? Saving money. You know what <em>we</em> like? Helping you save money. The stars have aligned today, as Amazon is offering one-year Xbox Live subscription cards for $40 (a $20 savings) -- but supplies are no doubt limited. Additionally, <em>Fable 3</em> has been marked down to $28 for the day.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/04/fable-3-and-xbox-live-gold-sub-discounted-on-amazon/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fable 3 and Xbox Live Gold sub discounted on Amazon</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/04/fable-3-and-xbox-live-gold-sub-discounted-on-amazon/">Fable 3 and Xbox Live Gold sub discounted on Amazon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 Mar 2011 11:10:00 EST. Microsoft is treating its phone platform like a console, planning a release "event" for its Xbox Live games on Windows Phone 7. This spring, Microsoft's mobile platform will get six weeks of "Must Have Games," including <em>Plants vs. Zombies</em>, <em>Hydro Thunder</em>, <em>Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1</em>, <em>Doodle Jump</em> and more. The <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2011/02/24/gears-of-war-3-beta-update-and-much-more-just-announced-long.aspx">press release</a> reiterates that the games, like all Xbox Live games on the platform, include Achievements and leaderboards.<br />
<br />
The platform will also be the exclusive home to <em>Fable Coin Golf</em>. Available in March, <em>Coin Golf</em> will let you transfer gold earned in the game to either the PC or console versions of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a>. Connecting the console and mobile game will also unlock "three exclusive weapons that can be used in the Traitor's Keep game add-on."<br />
<br />
The announcement coincides with the expansion of the Windows Phone platform to another carrier in the US. Sprint's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/24/htc-arrive-is-sprints-first-windows-phone-7-device-launches-ma/">HTC Arrive</a> is the first WP7 device for the carrier, and will be available in March.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> <a href="http://www.winrumors.com/angry-birds-for-windows-phone-7-due-on-april-6/">WinRumors</a> indicates that <em>Angry Birds</em> will be among the WP7 releases during the "Must Have Games" promotion.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/24/windows-phone-7-getting-six-weeks-of-must-have-games-including/">Windows Phone 7 getting six weeks of 'Must Have Games' this Spring, Fable Coin Golf in March</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Feb 2011 15:45:00 EST. PC gamers, it's time for you to renew your passport and update your vaccinations: You're going to be taking a trip to Albion in a few short months. <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2011/02/24/gears-of-war-3-beta-update-and-much-more-just-announced-long.aspx">Microsoft has announced</a> that the third installment in its morally dichotomous RPG series, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a>, is due out on the PC in North America May 17, and in Europe, Australia and New Zealand May 19.<br />
<br />
The Windows version of the game will include full 3D support for folks using the appropriate NVIDIA cards, and will also add a "Hardcore" mode, giving the game an unprecedented level of difficulty. We wonder if that difficulty will be reflected in the game's major ethical decisions as well -- for instance: Do you want to sacrifice your children, your wife, or your dog ... <em>in the real world</em>? Mwahahaha!<br />

If you're still enjoying the Xbox version of <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/fable-3"><em>Fable 3</em></a>, there's some more DLC headed your way. The "Traitor's Keep" pack adds three new levels, all with fairly awesome names: Ravenscar Keep, Clockwork Island and the Godwin Estate.<br />
<br />
Apparently you'll run into a "mysterious prisoner" -- and you'll also run into 250 additional Gamerscore. The Traitor's Keep add-on is due March 1 on Xbox Live for $7 (560 points).<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-3-traitors-keep-dlc/">Fable 3 'Traitor's Keep' DLC</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-3-traitors-keep-dlc/#3916505"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/tk01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-3-traitors-keep-dlc/#3916511"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/tk02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-3-traitors-keep-dlc/#3916514"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/tk03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-3-traitors-keep-dlc/#3916516"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/tk04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-3-traitors-keep-dlc/#3916517"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/02/tk05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/24/fable-3-traitors-keep-arrives-on-xbox-march-1/">Fable 3 'Traitor's Keep' DLC arrives March 1 on Xbox Live</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Feb 2011 15:35:00 EST. Lionhead community moderator Matthew Allen recently took some time off of moderating the, uh, community in order to mock up what <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/fable"><em>Fable</em></a> might have looked like "<a href="http://lionhead.com/forums/p/302132/3652618.aspx#3652618">sometime around 1985</a>." In short, it looks an awful lot like an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/18/kings-quest-reboot-coming-courtesy-of-telltale/">old Sierra adventure game</a> and that's just <em>fine</em> by us.<br />
<br />
Unlike the other <em>Fable</em> demake, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/18/fable-demake-fableous-is-pretty-adorable/"><em>Fableous</em></a> (which has a <a href="http://www.roflgames.com/gamePageFableous.htm">demo</a> now!), Allen's images were created purely for fun, so don't expect the project to turn into a real game. Still, be sure to check out the mock-ups in the video after the break. The 8-bit <em>Fable</em> music alone makes it worthwhile, we promise.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/21/fable-re-imagined-as-8-bit-adventure-game/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fable re-imagined as 8-bit adventure game</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/21/fable-re-imagined-as-8-bit-adventure-game/">Fable re-imagined as 8-bit adventure game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Feb 2011 20:15:00 EST. What's your favorite <em>Fable</em> game? Lionhead is seeking the (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/01/joystiqs-top-10-of-2008-fable-2/">obvious</a>) answer in a <a href="http://lionhead.com/Fable/FableIII/Survey.aspx">community survey</a> that's also intended to rank the franchise's thirteen core features, as listed by the developer, in order of importance. <em>Fable</em> players are asked to evaluate design elements like accessibility, British <em>humour</em>, co-op and the Dog, assigning each its rightful, subjective rank. (And what about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/12/fable-2-bugs-squashed-with-title-update/">the</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/02/fable-3-fixes-incoming-lionhead-asking-for-bug-submissions/">bugs</a>, you're wondering? Those are actually dealt with in a <a href="http://lionhead.com/fable/fableIII/issuereport.aspx">separate survey</a>.)<br />
<br />
"Sure we could try and digest 1,000,000 forum posts and come up with the data that way," Lionhead community manager Sam Van Tilburgh wrote in a <a href="http://lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2011/02/09/community-call-what-is-your-fable.aspx">community call</a> to take the survey, "but it would take way too long and so it isn't very efficient."<br />
<br />
"Lionhead has a long relationship with a large and passionate community," Van Tilburgh added in a comment on the post, "so it's just a continuation of what we've been doing for many years now" -- and, presumably, for many years to come. Head of the pride Peter Molyneux has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/29/molyneux-talks-three-new-fables-and-a-secret-project/">previously</a> said his studio has plans for at least a <em>Fable 4</em> and <em>5</em>, which <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/24/fable-franchise-expected-to-incorporate-milo-technology/">could include</a> Kinect integration (not mentioned in the survey).<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii/"><em>Fable 3</em></a> debuted last October and went on to become the #7 bestselling release of 2010 on Xbox 360, according to NPD data published by <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/32873/Exclusive_NPD_Reveals_2010_US_New_Game_Charts_Per_Platform_.php">Gamasutra</a>. Gamasutra has obtained NPD data that puts a new filter on last year's US box-copy software sales, ranking the top ten bestselling 2010 releases for each console and handheld platform (PC excluded). Like the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/npd-monthly">monthly NPD breakdowns</a>, these rankings don't include actual sales numbers, but they do reveal some interesting trends.<br />
<br />
By omitting Nintendo's so-called "evergreen" titles (i.e., games released before 2010), Gamasutra found that -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/11/just-in-just-dance-2-goes-5x-platinum/">perhaps unsurprisingly</a> -- <em>Just Dance 2</em> was last year's top-selling 2010 release for Wii, and among six additional third-party games that made the top ten in sales for the platform. On DS, however, Nintendo games filled out half of the top ten, and <em>Pokemon SoulSilver </em>and <em>HeartGold</em> were the only titles to surpass sales of one million units each.<br />
<br />
At first glance, PSP software sales look even bleaker, with <em>Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep</em> on top and, according to Gamastura, the only PSP title to break 300K units sold; with the other top ten games each falling below 200K. Of course, these rankings don't include digital sales or box-copy games bundled with hardware, so it's unlikely that <em>Birth by Sleep</em> (which isn't available on the PlayStation Store) was the true #1 bestseller among 2010's PSP releases -- let alone the most pirated.<br />
<br />
What is certain is that <em>Call of Duty: Black Ops</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/29/report-call-of-duty-black-ops-most-pirated-game-in-2010/">dominated torrents</a>, as well as the games <em>legitimately sold</em> for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010. Still, both Sony and Microsoft saw two first-party releases make their console's respective top ten sales charts for the year; though each publisher's most critically-acclaimed release of 2010 -- at least, from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/29/best-games-2010-heavy-rain/">Joystiq's</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/31/best-games-2010-alan-wake/">perspective</a> -- was not present. Perhaps telling of the two console's core player bases, <em>Madden 11</em> beat out <em>God of War 3</em> for the #2 spot on the PS3 chart, but fell to #3 beneath<em> Halo: Reach</em> in the Xbox 360 ranking.<br />
<br />
Finally, we have to wonder <em>just what were they thinking?</em> They, of course, being all those Xbox 360 owners that purchased <em>Fable 3</em> and <em>Fallout: New Vegas</em> instead of <em>Mass Effect 2</em>. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/19/fallout-new-vegas-review/">Three and a half stars</a> plus <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/26/fable-3-review/">four</a> still doesn't add up to <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/31/best-games-2010-mass-effect-2/">the Game of the Year</a>,</em> people.<br />
<br />

We knew in August that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Fable-3/"><em>Fable 3</em></a> wouldn't hit Windows PCs <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/02/fable-3-for-windows-not-arriving-day-and-date-with-360-version/">day-and-date</a> with the Xbox version last October, but Microsoft told us to "expect news soon." Well, we suppose everyone has a different definition of "soon" since <em>Fable 3</em> on PC is here at CES with an expected release date of ... well, they're still not saying. But if you'd become convinced that the latest installment in Lionhead's <em>Fable</em> franchise would never make it off the Xbox 360, much like the excellent <em>Fable 2</em>, then we suppose you'll find the above photo comforting. In our short hands-on time with the title, we didn't spot any notable distinctions from the Xbox 360 version. In short, it's <em>Fable 3</em>, warts and all.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/06/fable-3-pc-playable-at-microsofts-ces-booth-release-date-still/">Fable 3 PC playable at Microsoft's CES booth; release date still in darkness</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 06 Jan 2011 21:30:00 EST. After dropping details on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/05/avatar-kinect-bringing-avatar-control-facial-expressions-to-xbo/">Avatar Kinect</a> and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/05/microsoft-kinect-sells-8-million-units-worldwide/">crazy amount of Kinects sold</a> in its first 60 days on shelves, Microsoft's Steve Ballmer moved onto another recent Microsoft product launch: Windows Phone 7. While the Crackdown and Halo brands already have some presence on the platform, Ballmer took the opportunity to reveal that another major Microsoft Game Studios brand is making the leap to the small screen. <em>Fable Coin Golf</em> brings everything you know and love about <em>Fable</em> to your phone ... specifically, the coin golf part.<br />
<br />
Alright, so we didn't see what <em>Fable Coin Golf</em> is exactly, but Ballmer did reveal that all the gold earned in <em>Fable Coin Golf</em> (presumably earned playing golf?) will be sent straight to your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Fable-3/"><em>Fable 3</em></a> character on the Xbox 360, ala <em>Fable Pub Games</em> and <em>Fable 2</em>, for the old-timers in the house. During a montage that followed the reveal, we also spotted the retro-themed Game Room service, specifically arcade classic <em>Centipede</em>. We'll try to dig up more on the service's mobile offering during CES this week. For now, make your best guess as to what precisely <em>Fable Coin Golf</em> is. <br type="_moz" /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/05/fable-coin-golf-game-room-coming-to-windows-phone-7/">Fable Coin Golf, Game Room coming to Windows Phone 7</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 05 Jan 2011 22:45:00 EST. Microsoft has launched its "<a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Live/countdown2011/home">Countdown to New Year's</a>" promotion today on Xbox Live, which will see numerous pieces of Marketplace content discounted in the days leading up to the ball drop. The deals are highlighted by several XBLA games on sale now through December 31, including <em>Super Meat Boy</em>, <em>Carcassonne</em>, <em>Comic Jumper</em>, <em>Castle Crashers</em> and <em>Risk Factions</em>; all of which are 33-50 percent off.<br />
<br />
Daily deals are also on offer, beginning with today's deal: <em>Red Dead Redemption</em> DLC. Both the "Liars &amp; Cheats" and the "Legends &amp; Killers" packs are available for 400 Microsoft Points ($5) each, half their usual price. Meanwhile, "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/undead-nightmare/">Undead Nightmare</a>" and the "Undead Nightmare Collection" (which bundles together all three aforementioned add-ons) are 25 percent off at 600 ($7.50) and 1200 points ($15), respectively. And tomorrow, December 22, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/lara-croft-and-the-guardian-of-light">Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light</a></em> will be available for half-off at 600 points ($7.50).<br />
<br />
Additionally, Microsoft has listed clues to the rest of this year's daily deals on the Xbox Live Dashboard. We've compiled the clues, along with our best guesses, after the break. Be sure to check it out before you start <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/15/xbox-live-buyers-guide-2010/">spending your holiday points</a>!<br />
<br />
Finally, buying discounted items, watching Netflix movies or playing <em>Halo: Reach</em> and <em>Fable 3</em> multiplayer during this 11-day promotion will automatically enter players into a sweepstakes to win a massive prize package, featuring a 50-inch HDTV.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/21/new-years-xblm-sale-discounts-multiple-items-offers-daily-deal/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Year's XBLM sale discounts multiple items, offers daily deals</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/21/new-years-xblm-sale-discounts-multiple-items-offers-daily-deal/">New Year's XBLM sale discounts multiple items, offers daily deals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Dec 2010 16:37:00 EST. To celebrate the holidays, we're having <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/12-days-of-joyswag-2010/">twelve straight days of giveaways</a> up through Christmas day. And while we say it's to celebrate, really ... we're simply getting rid of some of the larger packages around the ol' office. <br />
<br />
For day seven, we're giving away what can only be described as a rucksack full of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a> swag. Anyone who picks up a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/windows-phone-7">Windows Phone 7</a> starting today on through the rest of the month can snag a free Xbox 360 game on Microsoft. The contest page lists four eligible games as part of this deal, two of which can only be played with Kinect: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-3"><em>Fable 3</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/halo-reach"><em>Halo: Reach</em></a>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kinectimals">Kinectimals</a> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kinect-joy-ride"><em>Kinect Joy Ride</em></a>. It's hardly incentive enough to yank anybody down off the fence, but it's a good deal if you were going to get a WP7 handset this month anyway.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/18/buy-any-windows-phone-7-model-get-a-free-xbox-360-game/">Buy any Windows Phone 7 model, get a free Xbox 360 game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 18 Dec 2010 14:00:00 EST. There's a gag floating around in Target's current discount on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/call-of-duty-black-ops"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops</em></a> -- now available at the retailer for $47 -- but we're having trouble finding it. Soldiers shoot at Targets, see? And there are a lot of soldiers in <em>Call of Duty: Black Ops</em>. And Target? <em>It's the name of the store</em>. There's gotta be some combination of those concepts that we can weave together into a pun, but it's eluding us.<br />
<br />
Target's knocking $10 off the price of a number of other recent releases as well, including <em>Fable 3</em>, <em>Red Dead Redemption</em>, <em>Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood</em> and <em>Medal of Honor</em>, but none of those really have anything to do with targets, now do they? Except for <em>Medal of Honor</em>, which also plays host to a <em>number</em> of soldiers. <em>Hm</em>. Check out all of Target's gaming discounts -- available until Saturday, Dec. 18 -- after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/16/call-of-duty-black-ops-shoots-at-target-for-47-other-games-1/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Call of Duty: Black Ops shoots at Target for $47, other games $10 off</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/16/call-of-duty-black-ops-shoots-at-target-for-47-other-games-1/">Call of Duty: Black Ops shoots at Target for $47, other games $10 off</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Dec 2010 13:00:00 EST. So, you're unhappy with the current breed of your <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a> murderhound? That's totally understandable -- the three options currently made available to settlers of Albion are Border Collie, Boxer and Red Setter, none of which are considered the classic <em>warrior</em> breeds. Luckily, the "<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Fable-III-Dog-Breed-Set/d8ff4a39-304f-44a6-853b-9f3fc69b034c">Dog Breed Pack</a>" (out today for 240 Microsoft Points) makes three far more combat-ready types of pups available for adoption: German Shepherd, Doberman and Poodle. <br />
<br />
What? Have you ever seen a poodle when it's really, really angry? Those things are <em>vicious</em>, man.<br />
<br />
If you're content with your dog's current genetic makeup, perhaps you'll be interested in another piece of DLC released by Lionhead today: The "<a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Fable-III-Free-Yule-Hat/e7651286-015c-46fd-9113-426c7fa7c98c">Free Yule Hat</a>," which, true to its name, is totally free. Seems like a nice way to add a little festivity to Albion's bleaker regions -- just make sure you take it off before you decide to conduct some horrible, unspeakable act. We'd hate for you to tarnish the image of Santa, you know.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/16/fable-3-dlc-starts-raining-hats-and-dogs/">Fable 3 DLC starts raining hats and dogs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 Dec 2010 12:30:00 EST. This November may have been the biggest. The NPD reports that last month was the "best November on record in terms of new physical retail sales," ahead of November 2008 by around $30 million. <em>Call of Duty: Black Ops</em> had the biggest first month of any game ever, with 8.4 million copies. <br />
<br />
And Microsoft (producer of the best-selling non-DS console) tells us that with 1.37 million consoles sold, November 2010 was not only the biggest November ever for Xbox, it was the biggest month ever. Thanks, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/kinect">Kinect</a>! Thanks, new hardware! Handhelds were actually down vs. previous years, though the DS was still the top-selling console, with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/21/red-wii-and-dsi-xl-bundles-wii-remote-plus-and-flingsmash-in-n/"><em>Mario</em> red DSi XL</a> representing the majority of sales. Nintendo said that "over 1.5 million" DS systems were sold last month.<br />
<br />
After the break, check out the top-selling games of the month. You already know what's at number one, of course.<em> Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood</em> follows at #2, with surprisingly strong showings for both <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/fable-3">Fable 3</a></em> and <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/donkey-kong-country-returns">Donkey Kong Country Returns</a> </em>down the list.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/09/november-npd-best-month-ever-for-retail-xbox/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>November NPD: Best month ever for retail, Xbox</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/09/november-npd-best-month-ever-for-retail-xbox/">November NPD: Best month ever for retail, Xbox</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Dec 2010 18:30:00 EST. With a 5MB title update released this morning on Xbox Live, Lionhead Studios has corrected some major <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii">Fable 3</a></em> issues. Primary among the fixes: quest progression issues (enemies not appearing, player getting physically stuck in certain parts of the world, etc.) and total game crashes. <br />
<br />
Additionally, various online multiplayer issues have been resolved, as has Jasper's curious case of sudden laryngitis. And hey, if you played in Japanese and <em>really</em> missed Reaver's voiceover in that one quest, you're all set now! The complete, embarrassing list of fixes can be found after the break.<br type="_moz" /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/01/fable-3-patch-prevents-crashes-cures-jaspers-laryngitis/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fable 3 patch prevents crashes, cures Jasper's laryngitis</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/01/fable-3-patch-prevents-crashes-cures-jaspers-laryngitis/">Fable 3 patch prevents crashes, cures Jasper's laryngitis</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Dec 2010 11:00:00 EST. Fledgling heroes in the treacherous world of Albion have enough to worry about without fretting over the ever-present possibility of encountering <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-3"><em>Fable 3</em>'s</a> technical hiccups. Luckily, <a href="http://lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2010/11/23/understone-quest-pack.aspx">Lionhead has revealed</a> its plans to reduce the number of bugs -- as discovered and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/02/fable-3-fixes-incoming-lionhead-asking-for-bug-submissions/">reported by the game's fans</a> -- with an upcoming patch. This update will remedy issues such as corrupted save files, problems with the Sanctuary room, and some general performance issues like framerate drops and audio glitches.<br />
<br />
Lionhead also announced that it will release a "voice over pack" for certain unnamed regions -- but did not explain exactly what would be included in said pack. Our theory? All of the in-game characters' voices will be replaced by Stephen Fry's voice. "Even the ladies," you might ask? <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWNga1rzEdk"><em>Absolutely</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/23/another-fable-3-title-update-incoming-adding-more-funny-voices/">Another Fable 3 title update incoming, adding more funny voices</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Nov 2010 13:30:00 EST. Here is the second edition of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/12/npd-changes-monthly-reporting-removes-hardware-and-software-uni/">revised</a> (and less informative) monthly NPD report. With the market research group no longer sharing specific hardware figures, it's noteworthy to point out that only Microsoft has (as of writing) released concrete sales numbers. Major Nelson <a href="http://twitter.com/majornelson/status/4672913189904384">tweeted</a> that Microsoft sold 325K Xbox 360s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/15/pachter-254k-wiis-sold-in-september-312k-ps3s/">in October</a>. Although the figure represents a 32-percent drop from the previous month, it was enough to secure Microsoft's spot as best-selling console of the month. Major Nelson also added that the Xbox 360 "is the best selling console in 2010 [with] 3.5 million" sold so far.<br />
<br />
Sony's response doesn't offer console sales numbers, but Patrick Seybold commented on increased momentum for the company's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/playstation-move">PlayStation Move</a> motion controller. "The PS3 Move Bundle had a 15-percent increase in sales since launch last month, and we're working hard to keep the inventory up across the country to meet strong consumer demand." In addition, Seybold reminded us of the impending launch of Sony's big holiday game: "With next week's launch of the industry's most anticipated title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/gran-turismo-5"><em>Gran Turismo 5</em></a>, we're sure to carry the momentum through the holidays."<br />
<br />
Nintendo, as of the time of publishing, had not offered comment.<br />
<br />
Software sales jumped 6 percent year-over-year for the month to $605 million. The multiplatform release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/nba-2k11"><em>NBA 2K11</em></a> helped propel it to the top of the charts, undoubtedly aided by EA Sports' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/02/nba-elite-11-canceled-series-handed-off-to-ea-tiburon/">cancellation</a> of <em>NBA Elite 11</em>. <em>Fallout</em>, <em>Medal of Honor</em> and <em>Fable</em> all made strong debuts -- but <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rock-band-3"><em>Rock Band 3</em></a><em>'s</em> 15th-place position in sales has us <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/11/rock-band-developer-harmonix-to-be-sold-by-viacom/">concerned</a>. NPD analyst Anita Frazier did make a special note in the report, assuring us that "this game has the potential to perform well over the holidays."<br />
<br />
The top-ten software breakdown is posted after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/17/october-npd-nba-2k11-tops-charts-xbox-360-best-selling-consol/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>October NPD: NBA 2K11 tops charts, Xbox 360 'best selling console in 2010'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/17/october-npd-nba-2k11-tops-charts-xbox-360-best-selling-consol/">October NPD: NBA 2K11 tops charts, Xbox 360 'best selling console in 2010'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Nov 2010 01:20:00 EST. If you've already managed to exhaust <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a><em>'s</em> on-disc offerings and are looking for some way to download more content for the RPG sequel, Microsoft Game Studios isn't about to let that impulse go unrewarded. About one month following the retail launch of <em>Fable 3</em> comes the "Understone Quest Pack," in which your hero "will discover a mysterious town built beneath the streets of Bowerstone, crafted by eccentric inventor Montague Hummes." This is an all-new town with places to shop (and purchase outright) and "novel creatures to battle." That's got a sort-of Fahrenheit 451 vibe to it, no? In its main quest, "The Voice," you'll explore Understone and "discover the origin of the voice that controls the people of Understone."<br />
<br />
Also included in the Understone Quest Pack is the "Shooting Range" - the Mercenary Camp is now a tourist attraction! - and the "Wheel of Misfortune," in which Reaver's arena has been recycled into a standalone feature. All that for 400 Microsoft Points ($5) seems like a pretty reasonable deal to us. Now the Exclusive Hair Pack - featuring corn rows, afro and asymmetrical bob styles for 160 Microsoft Points ($2), and the 5 Star Dog Potion for 80 Microsoft Points ($1), seem like notably lesser deals. <br />
<br />
All three downloads will be available on November 23, so mark your (now a collector's item) Milo 2010 calendar accordingly.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-3-understone-quest-screens/">Fable 3 Understone Quest</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-3-understone-quest-screens/#3573217"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/11/fable3dlcdlc101_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-3-understone-quest-screens/#3573218"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/11/fable3dlcdlc102_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-3-understone-quest-screens/#3573219"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/11/fable3dlcdlc103_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-3-understone-quest-screens/#3573220"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/11/fable3dlcdlc104_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/15/fable-3-understone-quest-pack-and-exclusive-hair-pack-dlc-co/">Fable 3 'Understone Quest Pack' and 'Exclusive Hair Pack' DLC coming Nov. 23</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 15 Nov 2010 11:04:00 EST. What's that? You want <em>another</em> Black Friday deal post? Well ... <em>okay</em>, but you'd better finish your vegetables first. All done? Great. Best Buy has some <a href="http://www.blackfriday.info/sales/best-buy-black-friday-ad.html">killer deals</a> on console bundles, with the best probably being the Wii (black or white) bundled with <em>Wii Sports</em>, <em>Wii Sports Resort</em>, a Wii Remote Plus and a Nunchuk, all for $180 ... while -- no doubt <em>limited</em> -- supplies last.<br />
<br />
If you're in the market for a PS3, Best Buy is bundling the 160GB model with <em>LittleBigPlanet</em>, <em>ModNation Racers</em> and a <em>Cars</em> Blu-ray for $300. Meanwhile, 4GB Xbox 360s will be packed with LEGO -- namely <span style="font-style: italic;">LEGO</span><em> Star Wars: The Complete Saga</em>, <em>LEGO Batman</em> and <em>Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures</em> -- all for $200.<br />
<br />
The store is also stocking the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/05/rumor-sears-black-friday-ad-reveals-green-and-red-dsis-new-psp/">red and green DSi bundles</a> first spotted in the Sears Black Friday ad for $150. Finally, several big titles will see impressive discounts. Check out some of the highlights after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/12/black-friday-170-wii-bundle-and-more-at-best-buy/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Black Friday: $170 Wii bundle and more at Best Buy</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/12/black-friday-170-wii-bundle-and-more-at-best-buy/">Black Friday: $170 Wii bundle and more at Best Buy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Nov 2010 15:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-3"><em>Fable 3</em></a> lost the UK sales chart crown last week to not one, but <em>two</em>, footie titles. The football revolution sent Lionhead's Albion simulator to third as <em>FIFA 11</em> maintained its spot in second and ... oh my, the PC-exclusive <em>Football Manager 2011</em> premiered at the premier spot. According to <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=973&amp;s=1111">Chart-Track</a>, it was only the second PC-exclusive title to reach the top spot this year, with the other being <em>StarCraft 2</em>.<br />
<br />
Ubisoft's <em>Just Dance 2</em> maintained its fourth place. If the title has the stamina of its older sibling, 2010 might have a <em>Just Dance</em> representative in the top ten throughout the entire year. <em>Professor Layton and The Lost Future</em> rounded out the top five.<br />
<br />
Other high-profile premieres last week, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/goldeneye-007"><em>Goldeneye 007</em></a> for Wii and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/007-blood-stone"><em>007: Blood Stone</em></a>, had licenses to kill the #13 and #18 spots, respectively. Spy with your double-0 eye the UK top ten after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/08/football-manager-2011-debuts-atop-uk-charts-bond-finds-quantum/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Football Manager 2011 debuts atop UK charts, Bond finds quantum of solace in teens</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/08/football-manager-2011-debuts-atop-uk-charts-bond-finds-quantum/">Football Manager 2011 debuts atop UK charts, Bond finds quantum of solace in teens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 Nov 2010 09:10:00 EST. One expects to come up against all manner of opposition when attempting a violent overthrow of a monarchy, but game-crashing technical issues shouldn't be one of them. An update on <a href="http://lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2010/10/31/some-fable-updates.aspx">Lionhead's official blog</a> has revealed that the developer is currently working on a patch for a few known <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fable-iii"><em>Fable 3</em></a> issues, and is also seeking bug submissions from the game's most attentive players. You might take umbrage over having to do QA for a game you spent 60 American dollars on, but, think of it this way: You can pretend like you just won Season 3 of <em>The Tester</em>.<br />
<br />
The blog post also contains a workaround for folks who are having trouble transferring their hard-earned gold over from the <em>Fable 3 Kingmaker</em> App over to the game itself. No, throwing your smartphone at your Xbox 360 as hard as you possibly can, hoping the gold will transfer over in the ensuing collision, is <em>not</em> the solution.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/02/fable-3-fixes-incoming-lionhead-asking-for-bug-submissions/">Fable 3 fixes incoming, Lionhead asking for bug submissions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Nov 2010 14:10:00 EST. <em>Fable 3</em> took the throne last week in the UK as the top-selling title, moving 128,895 units and 6,000 more than <em>Fable 2</em> did during its launch week. <em>Fallout: New Vegas</em> sales, which held the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/25/fallout-new-vegas-explodes-on-uk-charts/">top spot the prior week</a>, dropped 55 percent, moving 69,613 copies to wastelanders.<em> FIFA 11</em> kicked it up and charged back into second place with 75,703 sales, while <em>Just Dance 2</em> kept its momentum and slid into fourth, moving and shaking 58,375 units.<br />
<br />
<em>Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2</em> premiered in fifth place. <em>FU2</em> unleashed 56,064 copies on the British public, with plenty of folks likely screaming that abbreviation after spending those hard-earned pounds on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/26/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-2-review/">disposable game</a>. Meanwhile, the 7,386 owners of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rock-band-3"><em>Rock Band 3</em></a>, which debuted way down at #26, likely rocked the weekend away. <br />
<br />
You may have noticed we have <em>actual unit sales</em> this week, that's thanks to <a href="http://www.ukie.info/content/week-43-top-10-games-round">UKIE</a> (formerly known as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/elspa">ELSPA</a>). No idea how long this'll last, but it's interesting given the NPD's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/20/new-npd-report-to-factor-in-digital-used-mobile-and-rental-sal/">recent reluctance to share such data</a> for the US. Check out the UK top ten after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/01/fable-3-crowns-uk-charts-force-unleashed-2-and-rock-band-3-debu/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fable 3 crowns UK charts, Force Unleashed 2 and Rock Band 3 debut</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/01/fable-3-crowns-uk-charts-force-unleashed-2-and-rock-band-3-debu/">Fable 3 crowns UK charts, Force Unleashed 2 and Rock Band 3 debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 01 Nov 2010 10:49:00 EST.
