The <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/fable-2">Fable 2</a></em> community site has posted a vertically enhanced collage of the many forms the RPG's (anti-)hero can take. It's quite impressive and, after looking through the list, we realize our once-generic avatar can take on more traits than we ever expected. It's a morning just like any other, save for one joyous difference. You stumble out of bed, groggy and mildly alarmed by the monstrous shape your hair assumed during the night. A sip of coffee does little to bring your brain out of its fatigue nebula, with a glance at the calendar reminding you that ... wait a minute. It's May! The new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable II</em></a> downloadable add-on, "See the Future," is supposed to be out this month!<br /><br />You quickly don your <em>Bananas in Pajamas</em> dressing gown and rush into the living room, shouting, "Wake up! Wake up you piece of slumbering silicon!" at the Xbox 360. Oh, you simply can't wait to download the new content, which marks the return of Murgo the Trader and the beginning of a new quest to lift a trio of curses placed on mysterious items. What wondrous new wares await you? What new breed will you choose for your post-potion pet? What good (or evil?) will you get up to with new costumes (including a Hobbe outfit!), hairstyles and "psycho Jester make-up?"<br /><br />Oh, but you're getting carried away. There's still the 560<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($7) charge to pay before you can chase after the "Ghosts of the Snowglobe," save "The Cursed Knight" from his fate or bludgeon everything to a pulp in "The Colosseum." Of course, there are some free items offered to <em>Fable II</em> players (like "Welley's soldier helmet"), but only the premium pack offers ... oh. It's not online today.<br /><br />You suddenly remember that Joystiq failed to mention what day in May the DLC would arrive. Those incompetent, unreliable <em>bastards</em>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-ii-see-the-future/">Fable II: See the Future</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-ii-see-the-future/#2006999"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/bloodhound_1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-ii-see-the-future/#2007000"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/bloodhound_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-ii-see-the-future/#2007008"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/husky_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-ii-see-the-future/#2007009"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/husky_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-ii-see-the-future/#2007004"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/dalmation_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/06/fable-2s-see-the-future-dlc-coming-in-may/">Fable 2's 'See the Future' DLC coming in May</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Apr 2009 11:10:00 EST. Peter Molyneux finally discussed details on the next <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2">Fable 2</a></em> expansion in an interview with <a href="http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/966/966699p1.html">IGN</a>. Called "See the Future," this new expansion will arrive in Spring, bringing in some new gameplay mechanics and challenges. It'll also be important to the overall narrative as Molyneux informs that See the Future will "tie up a few loose threads" between <em>Fable II</em> and <em>Fable I</em>. There's more about Theresa, too, as well as "a clue about the future of the<em> Fable</em> story." <br /> <br /><em>Fable</em> isn't all that Molyneux's team is working on, though. Speaking to <a href="http://kotaku.com/5185878/molyneuxs-next-big-thing-could-show-at-e3-perhaps-ooze-with-awesome">Kotaku</a>, he talks about the future of Lionhead and its non-<em>Fable</em> developments. "In fact we've been working on, working incredibly hard, on something else [than <span style="font-style: italic;">Fable</span>]," Molyneux divulged. He wouldn't say what it was nor would he say when exactly the studio would be ready to show it off, but he reckons E3 would be a good time for all that.<span style="font-style: italic;"></span> <br /><br />Source 1: <a href="http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/966/966699p1.html">IGN</a><br />Source 2: <a href="http://kotaku.com/5185878/molyneuxs-next-big-thing-could-show-at-e3-perhaps-ooze-with-awesome">Kotaku</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/26/gdc09-see-the-future-of-fable-ii-dlc-next-lionhead-game-coul/">GDC09: 'See the Future' of Fable II DLC, next Lionhead game could be at E3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Mar 2009 20:13:00 EST. Peter Molyneux has grown up. In fact, he told <a href="http://www.developmag.com/interviews/428/Lions-Head-Part-2">Develop</a> this past week that he believes the whole industry has matured. "We're growing up ... when I first started in this industry we were like six year-olds," Molyneaux says, speaking to the enormous development team sizes for games like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/lionhead-studios">Lionhead Studios</a>' most recent foray, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2">Fable II</a>, and lamenting the industry's past arrogance towards structure of, well, <em>any</em> kind. "My feeling is that if you're making mistakes when you've got 100 people, that's a really big mistake," Molyneux says, adding, "You'd better make sure that you're making the mistakes when you're a ten or 20 person team; If you're doing that with 100 people, you are throwing millions of pounds down the toilet."<br /><br />That being said, his position on what Lionhead Studios is doing other than <em>Fable</em>-related properties remains ... loose ... to say the least. "There are lots of things I would like to show you now; Within ten feet of you right now is possibly the most exciting thing I've ever seen," Molyneux teased Develop. What could it be?! We may never know, nor may you, as Molyneux remains surprisingly coy in his description. Lionhead has confirmed work on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/12/more-dlc-confirmed-for-fable-ii/">more <em>Fable II</em> DLC,</a> so for the time being, we'll just have to be content with that.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/22/molyneux-the-industry-is-growing-up-wants-to-stay-out-later/">Molyneux: 'The industry is growing up,' wants to stay out later on weekends</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 22 Mar 2009 19:45:00 EST. The horrifying creation was <a href="http://www.jamiedurrant.com/index.php/2008/09/25/latex-head/">expertly</a> <a href="http://www.jamiedurrant.com/index.php/2008/09/29/started-the-paint-job/">crafted</a> by Lionhead employee Jamie Durrant from (what we guess is) the finest latex and Earth-friendly paints. The highest bid on the auction, which wraps up on March 1st, is currently &pound;26.<br /><br />While we're aware that Halloween is still months away, it doesn't mean you couldn't wear the mask to the grocery store, to a cousin's wedding or, the most likely event, while playing <em>Fable 2</em>. <div align="left">Word on the web is that <em>Fable 2</em>'s <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/13/fable-ii-knothole-island-dlc-now-available/">recently released</a> Knothole Island DLC comes packed with a certain <em>Halo</em>'riffic surprise that'll not only tickle your inner Master Chief fanboy, but will also aid in eliminating any and all Hobbes.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />Available for trade at "The Box of Secrets" store is a <a href="http://xboxinsider.net/?p=225">new weapon</a> that's, coincidentally enough, named Hal's Rifle. This new rifle weaponry looks a lot like the classic <em>Halo </em>Assault Rifle and its name, well ... it's kinda obvious what Lionhead is going for. Sporting a decent 59 damage per shot, a range of 50, 24 shots per clip and an augment slot, Hal's Rifle is a smart purchase. Especially for those who are sporting <em>Fable 2</em>'s other <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/08/fable-2-receives-a-visit-from-master-chief-himself/"><em>Halo</em>'tastic apparel</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/14/fable-2-heros-can-now-wield-hals-rifle/">Fable 2 Heros can now wield Hal's Rifle</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 09:30:00 EST. For those of you who just can't get enough of the land of Albion, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable II</em></a> Knothole Island downloadable content is <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8024d5307f1/?p=1&amp;of=3&amp;sb=1#offers">now available on Xbox Live Marketplace</a>. We suppose that we should add that the DLC is only for those who can't get enough of Albion <em>and</em> have ten bucks to spare though, as the new content will cost you 800 Microsoft Points. The content contains <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/13/like-magic-fable-2-knothole-achievements-appear/">new achievements</a>, a brand new island to explore and a special <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/12/knothole-island-comes-with-resurrection-shrine/">Resurrection Shrine</a>.<br /><br />A quick note of clarification: there is also a "free" Knothole Island download available, but it's not what you think. The free download will only allow players without the DLC to play co-op with players that have purchased it. And no, you can't download the free DLC and play the new content with someone who purchased the premium version. You can still play co-op with someone who has it, but you'll have to purchase the premium version in order to visit Knothole Island together.<br /><br /><em>Quickie addendum: It looks like the free DLC does come with some free goodies. You can get them from Gordon the submariner (no, really) in the Bowerstone Market docks</em>.<br />

<div align="left">To prevent the pain that is caused by millions of fanboys attacking us with wooden baseball bats, because they claim we "ruined their <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable 2</em></a> experience" by "revealing a huge spoiler", we'll say this: <strong>Spoiler alert!</strong><br /></div>
</div>
<br />Now, for those who are daring enough to read further, onto the goods. Lionhead Studios <a href="http://community.lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2009/01/12/3278814.aspx">just hinted</a> that a certain "Resurrection Shrine" will be included in <em>Fable 2</em>'s upcoming Knothole Island DLC. The shrine's resurrection abilities have only one use and, for those who completed their main <em>Fable 2</em> quest and made a certain decision, said resurrection should be obvious. <div align="left">Lionhead just sent word that the <em>Fable 2</em> patch they <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/03/fable-2-patch-detailed-removes-child-assassinations/">announced</a> last month has been <a href="http://community.lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2009/01/10/3276698.aspx">officially released</a> and will be applied when connected to Xbox Live with <em>Fable 2</em>. So, no longer will the Abbott bug break the game and (sadly) no longer will children be able to be assassination targets. That feature will be missed. Also, in preparation for the release of next week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/fable-2-knothole-island-dlc-available-january-13/">Knothole Island DLC,</a> Knothole Island has been added to the Albion map. <div align="left">Looks like <a href="http://www.peta.org/">PETA</a> has jumped into the yearly award gifting by <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/peta-names-fable-2-most-animal-friendly-game-of-2008-uh-chicken-kickin--117046.phtml">announcing</a> that the video game they feel most deserving of the title "Most Animal-Friendly Game of 2008" is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable 2</em></a>. Chosen by the PETA folks because <em>Fable 2</em> carries a "strong pro-vegetarian theme" that "<span class="468resize">teaches gamers the real-life benefits of a vegetarian diet" through the game's purity points.</span> How nice!<br /></div>
<span class="468resize"></span></div>
<span class="468resize"><br />We'd agree with the PETA folks on the <em>Fable 2 </em>nod if it wasn't for a few not so animal friendly themes in the Albion world. You know, things like rewarding players with Gamerscore for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/11/fable-2-achievements-reward-players-for-chicken-kicking-and-orgy/">kicking chickens</a>, killing fluffy rabbits, eating crunchy chickadees and abusing your dog. True, if you do any of these activities, you'll build up your evil-ometer, but the fact that they're in the game PETA calls 2008's most "Animal-Friendly Game", well ... that's just odd. We guess vegetable purity points clouded their chicken kicking judgment.<br /></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/06/peta-gives-fable-2-its-seal-of-approval-chicken-kicking-include/">PETA gives Fable 2 its seal of approval, chicken kicking included</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Jan 2009 16:30:00 EST. <div align="left">Lionhead's first <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable 2</em></a> expansion, Knothole Island, was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/fable-ii-knothole-island-dlc-arriving-dec-22/">set for release</a> to the Marketplace next Monday, December 22nd. Sadly, that just isn't the case anymore, because "unexpected technical difficulties" have caused its release to delay into late January.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />According to the official <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/f/fable2/knotholeisland/default.htm">Xbox.com page</a> for the Knothole Island DLC, we're informed (in big red text, no less) that the late January time frame will be the <em>Fable 2</em> DLC's new release. Exact date, yet to be announced. This delay is further proof of the longstanding rumor that Lionhead has been developing <em>Fable 2</em> under an ancient Voodoo curse.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/18/tech-issues-delay-fable-2-knothole-dlc-into-jan/">Tech issues delay Fable 2 Knothole DLC into Jan.</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Dec 2008 00:50:00 EST. <div align="left">The 2009 <a href="http://www.gdconf.com/">Game Developers Conference</a> that's set to take place from March 23rd through the 27th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco is going to kick off with a KABOOM! <div align="left">In preparation for the <em>Fable 2</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/big-fable-2-news-knothole-island-dlc/">Knothole Island DLC's</a> release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/fable-ii-knothole-island-dlc-arriving-dec-22/">next Monday</a>, Xbox.com has been updated with a listing of <em>Fable 2</em>'s <a href="http://live.xbox.com/en-US/profile/Achievements/ViewAchievementDetails.aspx?tid=%09]%3a%15%18*iAq">new achievements</a>. All unlocked (of course) through the Knothole DLC. The three achievements tally up to an additional 100 Gamerscore and, for the most part, are targeted towards the story progression. <br /></div>
</div>
<br />Side note: What's up with <em>Fable 2</em>'s use of helping or seeing "another Hero do so" to unlock achievements? A bait tactic to encourage co-op play?<br />

Lionhead has <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=334828">informed Eurogamer</a> that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable II</em></a> DLC entitled "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/big-fable-2-news-knothole-island-dlc/">Knothole Island</a>" will be arriving on Xbox Live Marketplace on December 22. Set to debut the same day, Lionhead will also release a patch for <em>Fable II</em> that will allow players that have the DLC to play co-op with those who don't. Naturally, access to the DLC will be blocked during such co-op sessions, so don't go thinking you can play it for free if a friend buys it. The DLC will also include some free goodies, including Assassin's Gloves, a weight loss potion, Knight's Boots, a book (yay?), among other things. The Knothole Island DLC, as previously announced, will cost 800 Microsoft Points.<br /><br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/fable-ii-knothole-island-dlc-arriving-dec-22/">Fable II Knothole Island DLC arriving Dec. 22</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Dec 2008 11:45:00 EST. <div align="left">Fearing death at the hands of Microsoft execs, Lionhead's Peter Molyneux refuses to confirm or deny rumor that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable II</em></a> will be an Xbox 360 digital download (a la Xbox Originals), but did offer a lil' tease.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />"I think it would be a great thing for this studio to work on," hinted Molyneux when asked by <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/molyneux-hints-at-fable-ii-digital-release">GamesIndustry.biz</a> about the <em>Fable II </em>digital release rumor, adding "I can't say anything else on it - I would be killed to death." It wouldn't be all that surprising to see Microsoft releasing complete digital downloads of Xbox 360 titles, seeing that they've been open about their willingness to enter the digital release realm. We always knew that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-originals">Xbox Originals</a> and (to a lesser extent) the NXE's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/09/video-fall-update-game-installation-process/">game install</a> programs to be test runs for digital 360 titles. We welcome <em>Fable II </em>or any other 360 game onto our hard drives as long as Microsoft adds a financial benefit for those choosing digital over disc. Ahem, make 'em cheaper.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/10/tricky-molyneux-hints-at-fable-ii-digital-release/">Tricky Molyneux hints at Fable II digital release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 10 Dec 2008 16:00:00 EST. We're not sure what lies at its icy peak, but there is quite obviously a path leading there. It just screams Yeti, doesn't it? Could we at least hope for a snow troll? Check out the screens in the gallery below.<br /><br />The release date for this 800 MS Point DLC has still not been announced.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/03/new-screens-of-fable-2s-knothole-island-dlc/">Joystiq</a>]</div>

<div align="left">Our advice to Peter Molyneux and the team over at Lionhead Studios is to take the day off and pop open some champagne corks, because <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2">Fable II</a>'</em>s first two weeks of sales are something to celebrate.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />Microsoft just revealed that <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/1-5-million-fable-ii-units-sold-in-two-weeks">1.5 million copies</a> of <em>Fable II </em>were sold worldwide during its first two weeks at retailers, with nearly 800,000 copies being sold in the U.S. Quite impressive sales figures that we're sure both Lionhead and Microsoft Game Studios are proud of. Now, all we have to wait for is the December release of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/big-fable-2-news-knothole-island-dlc/">Knothole Island DLC</a> to see how well <em>Fable II</em>'s DLC sells.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/25/fable-ii-conjures-up-1-5-million-in-sales/">Fable II conjures up 1.5 million in sales</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 25 Nov 2008 01:45:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/microsoft-quiets-good-fable-2-announcement/">Free-floating</a> <img vspace="0" hspace="0" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/11/g_o_o_d.gif" /> news, everybody! Lionhead Studios has revealed the first downloadable content pack for its dichotomous role-playing adventure, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable 2</em></a>. The "Knothole Island" pack introduces an island encased in snow, it's only hope for warm resolution resting on the shoulders of your swashbuckling hero. Or obese, mace-wielding woman.<br /><br />The whole <em>Knothole</em> pack (detailed after the break) promises new quests, "wondrous" items and "bizarre" characters for a fee of 800<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> -- that's ten America bucks. If you don't have any of those to spare, you might want to look into the additional (and free!) DLC pack that promises "a show of gifts, including Knight's Boots, Assassins Gloves, a special Weight Loss Potion, collectible silver book and more." You'll also need it to play co-op with anybody who downloaded the <em>Knothole</em> pack (though you won't be able to partake in the new quests without downloading it yourself).<br /><br />Expect the content to hit Xbox Live Marketplace in "mid-December."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/fable-2-dlc-takes-heroes-to-knothole-island/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fable 2 DLC takes heroes to 'Knothole Island'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/fable-2-dlc-takes-heroes-to-knothole-island/">Fable 2 DLC takes heroes to 'Knothole Island'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 24 Nov 2008 13:20:00 EST. <div align="left">After a week long <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/lionheads-not-so-big-fable-ii-update/">delay</a>, Lionhead Studios and Microsoft just pulled the curtain back on their BIG <a href="http://www.lionhead.com/?newsid=60"><em>Fable 2 </em>announcement</a> and, as we expected, it's new downloadable content!<br /></div>
</div>
<br />Releasing mid-December, the 800 Microsoft point<em> Fable 2 </em>"<a href="http://www.lionhead.com/fable2/KnotholeIsland.aspx">Knothole Island</a>" DLC will be a new island to explore, where it's your hero's goal to bring sunshine back to an island that has suddenly been blanketed in snow. Well, their plans didn't work out as expected and the BIG announcement <a href="http://community.lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2008/11/19/3232574.aspx">has been delayed</a> until next Monday, November 24th. <div align="left">If you haven't recently checked your inbox and registered for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/29/claim-your-fable-2-dlc-redemption-codes/"><em>Fable 2</em> Collector's Edition DLC offer</a>, then we advise doing an inbox check this very moment. Reason being, Microsoft just emailed the DLC redemption codes to those who already registered.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />If you recall, Microsoft <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/21/fable-ii-collectors-edition-may-have-missing-dlc-code/">forgot to place</a> the CE exclusive DLC redemption code cards in some copies of the <em>Fable 2 </em>CE, which caused lots of commotion and angry customers. So, team Microsoft setup a website to allow those CE purchasers who didn't get their redemption code a chance to receive the content via registration on the website. And to those who gamed the system, registered for the DLC and never owned the CE, we think the email's opening sentence says it all. "Accept the consequences of your actions" ... mmkay?<br /><br />[Thanks, to the hundreds of fanboys who sent this in]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/15/check-your-inbox-fable-2-ce-dlc-codes-have-been-emailed/">Check your inbox, Fable 2 CE DLC codes have been emailed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 15 Nov 2008 15:45:00 EST. October hardware sales in North America were not good for Sony, with all three of its consoles seeing at least an 18% drop, according to this month's <a href="http://www.gamedaily.com/games/fable-ii/xbox-360/game-news/npd-wii-fable-ii-fuel-sales-of-131-billion-in-october-for-us-game-industry/">NPD report</a>. The Nintendo Wii maintained its top spot with a 17% increase in sales, likely due to an increase in supply, while Xbox 360's price drop acted as the likely catalyst for its 6.85% increase.<br /><br />Overall, total sales reached $1.31 billion, an increase of 18%. While accessories dropped 8% to 120.19 million, hardware increased 5% to $494.74m and software sales increased 35% to $696.79m. <span style="font-style: italic;">Fable 2</span> took the top spot, selling an impressive 790K copies after only ten days of release. Speaking of software, <span style="font-style: italic;">Fallout 3, </span>which we know has moved <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/06/fallout-3-irradiates-homes-globally-with-300-million-in-sales/">4.7 million units worldwide</a>, placed third for the Xbox 360 with 375K. <br /><br />Not making it into the top ten? <span style="font-style: italic;">Wii Music</span>, which sold a disappointing 81K in its first 11 days of launch. That wouldn't have made the top ten for any NPD report this year. <br /><br />- <strong>Wii: </strong>803K <img vspace="0" hspace="4" border="0" align="bottom" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.dsfanboy.com/media/2006/04/Up_Arrow.jpg" alt="" />116K (16.89%)<br />- <strong>DS: </strong>491K <img vspace="0" hspace="4" border="0" align="bottom" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.dsfanboy.com/media/2006/04/Down_Arrow.jpg" /> 45.8K (-8.53%)<br />- <strong>Xbox 360:</strong> 371K <img vspace="0" hspace="4" border="0" align="bottom" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.dsfanboy.com/media/2006/04/Up_Arrow.jpg" alt="" /> 23.8K (6.85%)<br />- <strong>PSP</strong>: 193K <img vspace="0" hspace="4" border="0" align="bottom" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.dsfanboy.com/media/2006/04/Down_Arrow.jpg" /> 45.1K (-18.94%)<br />- <strong>PS3</strong>: 190K <img vspace="0" hspace="4" border="0" align="bottom" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.dsfanboy.com/media/2006/04/Down_Arrow.jpg" /> 42.4K (-18.24%)<br />- <strong>PS2: </strong>136K <img vspace="0" hspace="4" border="0" align="bottom" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.dsfanboy.com/media/2006/04/Down_Arrow.jpg" /> 37.5K (-21.61%)<br /><br />Full software sales after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/13/october-npd-wii-up-sony-down-fable-2-raking-in-the-gold/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>October NPD: Wii up, Sony down, Fable 2 raking in the gold</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/13/october-npd-wii-up-sony-down-fable-2-raking-in-the-gold/">October NPD: Wii up, Sony down, Fable 2 raking in the gold</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Nov 2008 20:00:00 EST. <div align="left">In an effort to steal our gaming attention, Lionhead just <a href="http://community.lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2008/11/11/3221309.aspx">posted a new blog</a> teasing that next week will bring a BIG <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable 2</em></a> announcement.<br /></div>
</div>
<br />"I dare say it's a big announcement regarding <em>Fable II</em>, next week!" says the teasing blog, which can only logically be referring to one thing ... <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/07/surprise-fable-2-dlc-likely-in-the-works/"><em>Fable 2</em> DLC</a>. That's if logic holds true. It's either DLC or some sort of big announcement telling us that they'll be releasing a game patch that'll make those <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/16/molyneux-fable-2-pub-game-exploit-was-intentional/">Pub Games cheaters'</a> copies of <em>Fable 2</em> start on fire the next time the game is loaded. Specifically, when speaking to an abbot at the outset of the "Monk's Quest," the game will simply not let you progress any further if you choose to brush the guy off and walk away while he's talking.<br /><br />The developer said in a <a href="http://community.lionhead.com/forums/permalink/3157137/3157137/ShowThread.aspx#3157137">post on its official forums</a> that, "Some things slip through the net during development, especially when a game is the size and scope of <em>Fable II</em>," and went on to offer its apologies to those affected. It doesn't have any advice, though, for what to do if you're <em>already stuck</em>. It is planning a title update to patch the bug - so that this doesn't happen to anyone else - but hasn't provided an ETA.<br /></div>

We've been receiving reports from several gamers -- and the Lionhead forums are positively buzzing -- about a game breaking glitch in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable II</em></a>. The glitch occurs during the quest called "Monk's Quest," in which players are tasked with speaking to the Abbot of the Temple of Light in Oakfield. Apparently, if players run into the temple, begin the conversation with the Abbot, and then leave the region before the conversation is finished, they are be unable to resume the quest, thus preventing them from completing the main story. Lionhead is currently working on the issue and <a href="http://community.lionhead.com/forums/thread/3157137.aspx">advises all players</a> to make sure to finish the conversation and cut scene before leaving the area. At the moment there is no fix for those who have already encountered the glitch.<br /><br />Another glitch discovered in the game causes those who take one of their heroes into co-op with another player starting a new game. Apparently, when leaving childhood, all experience and gold will be wiped from the co-op character. Lionhead hopes to address this glitch in a title update, but <a href="http://community.lionhead.com/forums/permalink/3148902/3149173/ShowThread.aspx#3149173">advises players</a> to only play co-op after the childhood stage has been completed.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone that sent this in]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/24/fable-ii-players-report-game-breaking-glitch/">Fable II players report game breaking glitch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Oct 2008 12:00:00 EST. The lands of Albion -- as explored in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable II</em></a> -- are filled with many strange and wondrous things. Indeed, many of them are wonderful, even magical in nature, but make no mistake, there are dangers as well. In addition to its law abiding populous, Albion is home to all manners of beasts, spirits, and, well, less than law abiding citizens. To this end we provide The Albion Bestiary Compendium. No adventurer should leave home without it!<br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fable-ii-the-albion-bestiary-compendium/1114717/"><strong><br />Come learn your ABC's with The Albion Bestiary Compendium. </strong></a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/23/fable-ii-the-albion-bestiary-compendium/">Fable II: The Albion Bestiary Compendium</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 23 Oct 2008 14:00:00 EST. The trailer focuses on the same central theme as the destiny trailer, only this one is composed entirely of gameplay footage. With central question being "Who will you become?" we're treated to a very wide variety of different characters from burly pirates to lithe assassins. We also get a peak at some impressive landscapes. Since the trailer puts for it's question so bluntly, we might as well ask: what do you plan to do when you pick up <span style="font-style: italic;">Fable 2</span> (assuming you plan to). Oh, and those of you wanting to see the trailer in HD, it's currently available on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-live-marketplace">Xbox Live Marketplace</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/17/fable-2-launch-trailer-asks-who-will-you-become/">Fable 2 launch trailer asks: Who will you become?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Oct 2008 12:30:00 EST. <div align="left">Way back in August, we reported that a Master Chief outfit -- a Spartan outfit, if you want to get technical -- would be making <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/08/fable-2-receives-a-visit-from-master-chief-himself/">an appearance in <em>Fable II</em></a>. Now, thanks to DailyGame, we have the <a href="http://www.dailygame.net/news/archives/008436.php">first screenshots</a> of the outfit, which is known as Hal's Outfit in the game.. It looks slightly different from the original images. Overall we'd say it's closer to the actual look of the Chief's iconic suit. Also pictured in the new screenshots is the energy sword -- Hal's Sword. It looks nice and all, but it only deals a paltry 22 damage, so let's hope it has some amazing bonus properties. Head over to DailyGame for more images.</div>

It looks like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable II</em></a> will be receiving its much publicized <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/27/fable-2-ships-non-line-online-co-op-to-be-added-later/">online co-op enabling patch</a> on day one after all. In the wake of Lionhead's Peter Molyneux saying he <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/30/molyneux-says-fable-2-co-op-will-be-available-at-launch/">hoped for a day one solution</a>, community guru Sam has <a href="http://community.lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2008/10/09/3107261.aspx">announced</a> that the co-op patch is complete, saying, "It looks like we've done it...for all of you who are connected to Xbox Live, when starting up your copy of Fable II (on 21st October in USA, 24th October in Europe and 18th December in Japan)." Definitely good news for those looking to team up and fight the good fight for the fate of Albion. Even better news for those planning to do more important things, like buy up the Cow and Corset with their gambling winnings and share a free pint with a friend.<br /><br />[Thanks, BA]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/fable-ii-co-op-patch-is-complete-available-on-launch/">Fable II co-op patch is complete, available on launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Oct 2008 13:30:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">After the break, you can view Lionhead Studios' latest <a href="http://www.lionhead.com/Diaries/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Fable 2</span> developer diary</a> that, coincidentally enough, was just released earlier today. This video diary (number seven to be exact) doesn't address any of the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/27/fable-2-ships-non-line-online-co-op-to-be-added-later/">co-op changes</a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/fable-2-ce-now-less-collectible-and-less-expensive/">CE alterations</a>, instead it's all about <span style="font-style: italic;">Fable 2</span>'s music, sound effects, voice over work and their implementation. Fun fact: <span style="font-style: italic;">Fable 2</span> is comprised of 9,000 unique sound effects that are compressed into just under 90MBs. Those Lionhead devs must practice dark magic.<br /></div>

<div align="left">Lionhead has released a <a href="http://www.lionhead.com/fable2/Screenshots.aspx">new batch of screenshots</a> from the upcoming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-2"><em>Fable II</em></a>. The six screenshots serve to highlight the variety of possible heroes available to gamers in Peter Molyneux's latest opus. All told we have an evil Slash wannabe, a pirate, a gun-toting gentleman wearing a Mardi Gras mask, a pale, white-haired vixen, a sideburns-sporting, purple-coated hero and ... a man in a dress. Yes, there's quite a bit of variety possible thanks to the many clothing and style options, not to mention the many moral and social choices that alter a characters appearance. And now, thanks to <em>Fable II</em>'s Live co-op, you can actually show off your unique hero to your friends.<br /><br />Check out a hi-res versions of these images in the gallery below.<br /><br /></div>

A while ago we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/04/your-questions-peter-molyneuxs-answers/">tipped our readers</a> (that's you!) about GameDaily looking for questions to ask <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable-ii"><em>Fable II</em></a> maestro Peter Molyneux. Well kids, the time has come. The <a href="http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/features/10-questions-lionheads-peter-molyneux-part-2/?biz=1&amp;page=1">10 Questions feature</a> with Peter Molyneux is now online and ready to read. Molyneux fields questions about the size of the game world (about 12 times bigger), whether or not players can choose their breed of dog (nope) and whether or not he dreams about <em>Fable II</em> (yup). We should probably warn big <em>Fable II</em> fans that the piece contains no major revelations about the game, but then there really isn't much left to reveal. For example, Molyneux does <em>not</em> confirm any player-vs-player support in <em>Fable II</em>, though he does admit "It would be cool to fight against other heroes, as everyone's hero will be unique."<br /><br />Yes, it <em>would</em> be cool, wouldn't it? Head over to GameDaily for the full feature.<br /><br />[Thanks to Stuart Harper for the <a href="http://www.new.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=13788958061&amp;view=all#/photo.php?pid=3916011&amp;op=1&amp;o=all&amp;view=all&amp;subj=13788958061&amp;aid=-1&amp;oid=13788958061&amp;id=502515132">image</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/09/molyneux-answers-gamers-questions/">Molyneux answers gamers' questions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Sep 2008 15:30:00 EST. It looks like Amazon is looking to grab the attention of 360 RPG gamers, because the company is currently listing the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/07/fable-2-hits-us-oct-21-europe-oct-24-pub-games-aug-13/"><em>Fable II</em> Limited Collector's Edition</a> for <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Fable-2-Limited-Xbox-360/dp/B0014ET6EM/ref=pd_zg_rss_ts_vg_video-games_5">$66.99</a>, a full $13.00 off the retail price. Our instinct is to believe it must be an incorrect listing, but the page makes it quite clear that the listed price is 16% off retail and it includes the correct October 21 release date.
