<a href="http://www.digitalbattle.com/2009/04/12/deadline-games-might-be-shutting-down/">DigitalBattle.com</a> reports that developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/deadline-games">Deadline Games</a> is in dire straights, with CFO Christian Pedersen-Bjergaard saying that the company will face bankruptcy if it doesn't nab a paying gig soon. As you may remember, the company put its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/faith-and-a-45/"><em>Faith and a .45</em></a> on hold to work on the not-particularly-great <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/watchmen-the-end-is-nigh/"><em>Watchmen: The End is Nigh</em></a>.<br /><br />We've got "Rumor" in the headline because the <a href="http://www.comon.dk/news/deadline.games.haab.er.kuldsejlet._40457.html">article in question</a> was written in Danish, which isn't one of the many (Read: 1.5) languages we speak. The free online translator we used gave us this quote: "Vi shall the land a agreement to n&Atilde;&brvbar;rmeste future , or threaten a bankruptcy," so take that for what it's worth.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/13/rumor-deadline-games-in-serious-trouble/">Rumor: Deadline Games in serious trouble</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 Apr 2009 10:17:00 EST. The .45 may have a brimful of Asha, but that's not enough to keep things spinning. That's the word from developer Deadline, whose CEO Chris Mottes told <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/deadline-confirms-faith-and-a-45-halt">Eurogamer</a> that work on actioner <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/faith-and-a-45"><em>Faith and a .45</em></a> had stopped on all but a "negotiation level," due, he says, to the team's focus on <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Watchmen%3A%20The%20End%20Is%20Nigh">Watchmen: The End Is Nigh</a>.<br /><br /></em>The Danish developer made no mention of the game's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/31/lack-of-publisher-puts-faith-and-a-45-in-limbo/">lack of a publisher</a>, but let's be honest with each other: It's probably not helping. Joystiq is also embarrassed to announce that we'll be reporting a publishing agreement with some variation of the headline "Publisher X has got to have Faith," in case you want to conserve a groan or two until then.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/04/deadline-puts-brakes-on-faith-and-a-45/">Deadline puts brakes on Faith and a .45</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Feb 2009 13:13:00 EST. Unable to secure a publisher, the developer of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Faith-and-a-45/">Faith and a .45</a></em> has placed the game on hiatus, reports <a href="http://www.ps3attitude.com/new/2009/01/faith-and-a-45-is-officially-on-hold/">PS3 Attitude</a>. <em>Faith and a .45</em> stars protagonists Ruby and Luke -- Tobey Maguire's evil twin brother, from the looks of him -- <span class="paragraph-bodytext">who face off against an enemy force led by a ruthless oilman who's out for their blood. You know, the usual song and dance. When last we heard from developer Deadline Games -- which is currently developing two downloadable games based on the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Watchmen/">Watchmen</a></em> graphic novel -- the studio showcased <em>Faith</em> </span><span class="paragraph-bodytext">at GDC'08 </span><span class="paragraph-bodytext">in hopes of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/23/faith-and-a-45-gunning-for-a-publisher/">luring in a publisher</a>. Seriously. A period game set during the Great Depression? Tommy guns? Compelling characters? Bi-planes? Where do we sign up? Let's not forget that the game sports one of the best titles in recent memory. Of course, the question you must be asking is just how well all of this plays. Of that it's hard to be certain. <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?pager.offset=0&amp;cId=3165704">1UP</a> certainly seemed to be impressed with some of the co-op maneuvers that could be pulled off between the two main characters. They also lament, however, that it's always possible there will be significant changes once developers Deadline Games find a publisher. With the gaming world already full of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/turok">square-jawed</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/rainbow-six-vegas-2-set-for-a-march-21st-release/">macho</a> shooters, here's hoping <em>Faith and a .45</em> comes out unscathed.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/30221.html">Read</a> -- <em>Faith and a .45</em> - Debut Teaser HD<br /><a href="http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?pager.offset=0&amp;cId=3165704">Read</a> -- <em>Faith and a .45 </em>Preview<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/05/watch-faith-and-a-45-be-impressed/">Watch Faith and a .45, be impressed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 05 Feb 2008 17:45:00 EST. <p>For a game that isn't due out until 2009-2010, we've been getting slapped in the face with a good bit of information regarding Deadline Games' <em>Faith and a .45</em>. Above is the <a href="http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/142/14230213/vids_1.html">debut trailer</a> for the title, showcasing the style of the game which, over the course of at least a year, may or may not change. Sort of looks like <em>Uncharted</em>, eh? We're sure the final product won't have a ton of bad guys wearing scarves -- just a few. Still, there's no defined platform for the game or anything, so we'll just keep on serving the information as it's dished out.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/debut-trailer-emerges-for-faith-and-a-45/">Debut trailer emerges for Faith and a .45</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Feb 2008 13:30:00 EST. Cross-country mayhem, crooked cops, you know. <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?pager.offset=0&amp;cId=3165711">1UP</a> has gotten a more in-depth preview of the game and we're pretty interested in what was covered. You control Luke, with Ruby as your AI-controlled partner -- but a second player online or offline can take control of her at any time. The two work dynamically: if Luke does a good job, Ruby will offer him a kiss for a job well done (and if he dies but Ruby lives, she'll give him a kiss that magically brings him back to life). Other cooperative moves were mentioned, but it's up to you to read them.<br /><br />A sheriff named Duke plays a role sort of like Nemesis from <em>Resident Evil</em> <em>3</em> -- constantly hunting down the protagonists on their journey across the country. Boss battles will exist, but come in the form of a tank or an area swamped with well-trained baddies instead of one super-powered gun-toting maniac. You can upgrade your weapons, puzzles will be physics-based (sorry, wooden box puzzle lovers) and a narrative that goes beyond scripted cut-scenes. Perhaps branching stories based on your choices, but the early development cycle allows the devs to figure all that out later. It's a 2009 or 1<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/30/faith-and-a-45-devs-toss-their-ideas-around-about-the-game/">Faith and a .45 devs toss their ideas around about the game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Jan 2008 17:30:00 EST. If you've not yet had your fill of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kaneandlynch">Kane &amp; Lynch</a>-esque co-op crookery, Denmark-based Deadline Games has another pair for your consideration, namely "Faith and a .45." Billed as an "intense and atmospheric shooter" (aren't they all?), the game sees spirited lass Ruby -- she's the one with the red hair then -- facing the hardship that goes with battling "an oppressive enemy force" and being constantly stalked by an evil Tobey Maguire. Then again, perhaps that's supposed to be <em>Luke</em>, the other half of the "two outlaw lovers destined to go down in history."<br /><br />Deadline CEO Chris Mottes reckons the game will take the studio's "creative might" beyond the lofty levels obtained by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_Overdose"><em>Total Overdose</em></a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chili_Con_Carnage"><em>Chili Con Carnage</em></a>.
