Subatomic <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Fieldrunners">says</a> its next focus will be on releasing an update for the iOS version.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/18/fieldrunners-2-sprinting-to-android-next-week/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fieldrunners 2 sprinting to Android next week</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/18/fieldrunners-2-sprinting-to-android-next-week/">Fieldrunners 2 sprinting to Android next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Apr 2013 23:59:00 EST. Now you can buy it again, this time on Android! It's part of the <a href="http://www.humblebundle.com/">Humble Bundle for Android 3</a>, along with <em>Fieldrunners, SpaceChem, Uplink</em>, and - for purchases above the average price - <em>Spirits</em>. Uplink and <em>SpaceChem</em> require tablets, but you can play the rest on your phone.<br /><br />You're not out of luck if you lack a tablet, or even if you're without an Android phone. Even though it's an Android bundle, you'll also get the games on Windows, Mac, and Linux as well, along with all their soundtracks.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/15/humble-bundle-for-android-3-bundles-bit-trip-beat-fieldrunners/">Humble Bundle for Android (and PC, Mac, and Linux) bundles Bit.Trip Beat, Fieldrunners and more</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Aug 2012 23:59:00 EST. Previously confined to the Amazon Appstore, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/fieldrunners"><em>Fieldrunners HD</em></a> is now available <a href="https://market.android.com/details?id=com.subatomicstudios&amp;feature=search_result">via the Android Market</a>. The title launched on the Amazon Appstore with promotional pricing, an offer that evidently required it be exclusive to the service for two weeks.<br />
<br />
Those two weeks are up so, if you've yet to experience the popular tower defense title, it can be had for $2.99.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/23/fieldrunners-hd-runs-to-android-market-for-2-99-no-longer-amaz/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fieldrunners HD runs to Android Market for $2.99, no longer Amazon exclusive</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/23/fieldrunners-hd-runs-to-android-market-for-2-99-no-longer-amaz/">Fieldrunners HD runs to Android Market for $2.99, no longer Amazon exclusive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 23 Jul 2011 00:57:00 EST. Just in time for the Fourth of July fireworks, Subatomic Studios is bringing its hit iOS tower defense title <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fieldrunners"><em>Fieldrunners</em></a> to Android -- and it'll be a buck on day one. The Cambridge, Mass. based developer has announced that the $2.99 price for its game will be cut to $.99 on Thursday, June 30, which is when it arrives on the Android Market. From July 1 on, it's full price. (Note: The press release, which says the game is free during the first 24 hours, is incorrect.)<br />
<br />
As its title suggests, <em>Fieldrunners HD</em> has undergone a visual upgrade for Android devices, with all its art assets getting a fresh coat of 950x540 resolution paint. Other than that, the game looks to be a facsimile of its previous iterations on iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad -- all of which were great. You don't need to be a West Point graduate to realize that grabbing this gem on day one is the winning strategy.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/28/fieldrunners-hd-storms-android-june-30/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fieldrunners HD storms Android June 30, $.99 for first 24 hours</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/28/fieldrunners-hd-storms-android-june-30/">Fieldrunners HD storms Android June 30, $.99 for first 24 hours</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Jun 2011 01:00:00 EST. Two days after its reveal, the new <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/blaster-master-overdrive"><em>Blaster Master</em> game</a> is available on WiiWare, along with Hudson's <em>Princess Tomato</em>, a somewhat forgotten NES oddity. And DSiWare has the iPhone hit <em>Fieldrunners </em>and a new puzzle game by Intelligent Systems. Read about all ten (!) new games after the break.<br />

SCEE is also promising to update its <a href="http://www.youtube.com/yourwholeworld">YouTube channel</a> with new videos of the Minis. The <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/09/28/minis-week-fieldrunners/">European PlayStation Blog</a> has announced that iPhone mega-hit <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Fieldrunners/">Fieldrunners</a> will be a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/psp-minis">PSP Minis</a> launch title on October 1. The tower defense game went straight to the top of the App Store charts (and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/24/gdc09-igf-mobile-award-winners-announced/">won an IGF mobile award</a>) for its intuitive design and beautiful visual style, which appears to have made the trip over to PSP -- along with new maps and towers.<br /><br />No word from Sony America on whether the game will make it onto the next PSN update in the States or not. We've been told the next update will be <em>gigantic</em> because of the <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/psp-go">PSP Go's</a> launch, so keep an eye out for an earlier-than-usual <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/psn-update">PSN Thursday</a> and the mega update.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/29/fieldrunners-dashes-onto-european-psn-oct-1/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Fieldrunners dashes onto Euro PSN Oct. 1</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/29/fieldrunners-dashes-onto-european-psn-oct-1/">Fieldrunners dashes onto Euro PSN Oct. 1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 Sep 2009 15:31:00 EST. But Nintendo also revealed several DSiWare titles for the first time! <br /><br />The company will follow this week's <em>Art Academy </em>with <em>Art Academy: Second Semester</em> on September 28, followed in Q4 by a DSiWare version of the <em>bit Generations</em> title <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bit_Generations#Digidrive">Digidrive</a>. </em>We're interested in seeing whether Skip takes over or whether <em>Pixeljunk </em>developer Q-Games remakes its GBA game.<br /><br />In other DSiWare news, the <em>Electroplankton</em> titles are due out in Q4, as is <em>Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon</em>, which we don't know anything about, <em><a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/dsiware/khdj/index.html">Sparkle Snapshots</a></em>, <a href="http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/dsiware/ke3j/index.html"><em>Picturebook Games: The Royal Bluff</em></a>, and -- this is going to freak iPhone gamers out -- <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fieldrunners">Fieldrunners</a>!</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/15/nintendos-ds-holiday-lineup-reveals-fieldrunners-art-style-an/">Nintendo's DS holiday lineup reveals Fieldrunners, Art Style, and more</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 Sep 2009 16:46:00 EST. With <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pax-2009">PAX 2009</a> just under two months away, the folks organizing the Penny Arcade Expo have begun gearing up for the show. How do we know, you ask? Simple: The PAX 10 was announced today, featuring a list of games we'd sorta/kinda heard of before. <br /><br />Since we're <em>so cool</em> and totally knew about all these games before anyone else did (yeah right), we're a bit nonplussed by this year's PAX 10 winners. Hell, we even have <em>Fieldrunners</em> running on our giant, collective iPhone right now. Seriously! Okay, fine, we only knew that one ...<br />

Sony's European head of developer relations, Zeno Cola&ccedil;o, has explained the company's strategy for courting companies to make products for its digital distribution-focused PSP line (more specifically, the new, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/12/pachter-apologizes-for-comments-about-pspgos-rip-off-price/">expensive</a> <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/psp-go">PSP Go</a>). The executive tells <a href="http://www.develop-online.net/news/32374/Exclusive-Sonys-new-development-strategy-for-PSP">Develop</a> that the new development pipeline involves getting rid of concept approval, shortening quality assurance process, slashing the SDK price (and implementing cheaper development kits), and pushing for a low price point for games.<br /><br />Cola&ccedil;o boasts that over 50 studios are already making the new generation of PSP titles. He mentions <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/subatomic-studios">Subatomic Studios</a> is already working on a PSP version of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Fieldrunners/">Fieldrunners</a></em>, its tower-defense iPhone hit. Basically, Sony wants to bring App Store-esque titles to the PSP. We expect about four or five fart-based titles by holiday '09.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/14/report-sony-changing-psp-dev-pricing-pipeline-to-attract-more/">Report: Sony changing PSP dev pricing, pipeline to attract more creators</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 Jul 2009 13:30:00 EST. <div align="left">Several games took home honors at this morning's Independent Games Festival's Mobile awards ceremony, but the event's true winner was apparent: the iPhone. While the awards were geared towards -- and open to -- <a href="http://www.igfmobile.com/02finalists.html">titles for all wireless / mobile devices</a>, every game that won is available exclusively on Apple's telephonic wunderkind (and, of course, the iPod touch).</div>

<br />Subatomic Studios' tower defense favorite, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fieldrunners"><em>Fieldrunners</em></a>, won for Best Art and Best Mobile Game (overall). Sergei Gourski and Jamie Gotch (above), the two developers responsible for the game, have been viewed as rising stars in the indie mobile gaming scene since <em>Fieldrunners'</em> release; today's wins cemented their star status. We spoke with the duo about their award-winning creation -- look for the full interview soon on the 'Stiq.<br /><br />Two awards also went to Secret Exit for its sublime <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/02/iphone-it-in-zen-bound/"><em>Zen Bound</em></a>. The part game, part relaxation exercise was named Best iPhone Game and earned a Mobile Audio Achievement award. The Best Innovation award went to the simplistic, yet infinitely replayable 4x4 space strategy title, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WWRCqwtNjw"><em>Galcon</em></a>. The only unreleased game to win was Firemint's <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r9x8Cq3gJU"><em>Real Racing</em></a>, which earned Best Technical honors. We'll have a hands-on with the impressive looking (hey, it won the tech award for a reason) racer soon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/24/gdc09-igf-mobile-award-winners-announced/">GDC09: IGF Mobile Award winners announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Mar 2009 17:22:00 EST.
