We can't imagine what kind of event would spur EA to slash the price on several of its big-name iPhone games -- oh, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/22/iphone-4-arriving-one-day-early-on-june-23rd/"><em>right</em></a>. Regardless of motive, <a href="http://toucharcade.com/2010/06/22/ea-holding-massive-0-99-sale-for-48-hours/">Touch Arcade</a> informs us of the sale, which extends through tomorrow. Here are some highlights:
<ul>
    <li><em>Command &amp; Conquer: Red Alert</em> <small>[<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/command-conquer-red-alert/id333225329?mt=8">iTunes link</a>]</small></li>

    <li><em>SimCity </em><small>[<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/need-for-speed-shift/id337641298?mt=8">iTunes link</a>]</small></li>
    <li><em>Battleship</em><small> [<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/battleship/id337133671?mt=8">iTunes link</a>]</small></li>
</ul>
The good news: <em>lots</em> of iPhone games are only $1. The bad news: none of those games is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/26/hands-on-mirrors-edge-iphone/"><em>Mirror's Edge</em></a> (which is <em>still</em> only available for iPad).<br />

Microsoft's Major Nelson has released his weekly report of Xbox Live activity today, featuring Infinity Ward's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Modern-Warfare-2/"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a> and Sega's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/After-Burner-Climax/"><em>After Burner Climax</em></a> in the top spot. With one last activity update to be released before the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Halo-Reach/"><em>Halo: Reach</em></a> beta, we anticipate an upcoming fight in Xbox Live list's top three. Bungie's 2010 release <em>Halo 3</em> secured second place for the sixteenth week in a row with EA's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Battlefield-Bad-Company-2/"><em>Battlefield: Bad Company 2</em></a> closing out this week's three-hole.<br />
<br />
On the Xbox Live Arcade list, the collective biomass of classic arcade titles solidified Game Room in second place for a second week in a row while Capcom's <em>Final Fight: Double Impact </em>closing out the top three. Other notable highlights include Ubisoft's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Splinter-Cell-Conviction/"><em>Splinter Cell: Conviction</em></a> jumping from ninth spot to sixth and EA Sports' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/FIFA-10/"><em>FIFA 10</em></a> overtaking <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em> for fourth spot. The full breakdown can be found at <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2010/04/27/live-activity-for-week-april-19.aspx">Major Nelson's blog</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/28/xbox-live-top-20-modern-warfare-2-after-burner-climax-reign-su/">Xbox Live Top 20: Modern Warfare 2, After Burner Climax reign supreme</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 28 Apr 2010 15:15:00 EST. PSN and Xbox Live will <a href="http://investor.ea.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=457210">score a demo</a> for <em>2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa</em> this Thursday, April 8, worldwide. The demo grants those interested in the footie franchise a chance to play as Spain or Italy and offers an optional two-button control scheme for newcomers.<br />
<br />
Beyond the demo date, EA also announced the 28 artists featured on the soundtrack for the game, which we've listed after the break. In a clear sign of racism, there are no tracks by "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_9">prawn</a>" musicians. Shame on you, EA. Shame on you. It's not just the "Earth Cup," but the World Cup, you know? Next thing you know, Americans will label something that has participants from only two countries as the "World Series."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/07/fifa-world-cup-south-africa-demo-coming-this-week/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>FIFA World Cup South Africa demo coming to PSN and Xbox Live this week</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/07/fifa-world-cup-south-africa-demo-coming-this-week/">FIFA World Cup South Africa demo coming to PSN and Xbox Live this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 07 Apr 2010 19:30:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10"> FIFA 10</a></em> has already found its way into 2.2 million UK homes, making it competition for the "biggest-selling game in the series so far," according to an <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/37354/FIFA-10-passes-2m-mark-in-the-UK">MCV UK</a> report. With today's earlier announcement of a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/29/free-fifa-online-kicks-off-closed-pc-beta-in-february/">free-to-play <em>FIFA</em></a> and the recent unveiling of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/27/ea-sports-fifa-world-cup-2010-south-africa-announced/">FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa</a></em>, <em>and now this</em>, we're quite considering naming it "FIFA Week" here on Joystiq. <br />
<br />
And we're willing to bet that EA Sports marketing manager Trevor Uzice would be a big fan of that, especially considering he believes that "there's no denying <em>FIFA 10</em> is the best football game ever." While we're not sure that the (admittedly impressive) sales numbers corroborate his sentiments, it's always nice to see marketing putting its most outlandish spin on any piece of news.<br />

As you can see for yourself above, the clip not only gives us a cursory tour of the new content, but also a preview of what's to come -- new packs, updated player stats, and more tournaments, among other things. The DLC is said to be priced at 400<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); margin: 0px;" alt="" /> ($5) or $4.99 via Xbox Live and PSN (respectively) and we still don't have a more solid release date than "February." In the meantime, well, we've got you this trailer. That's something, right?<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">War. What is it good for? Super successful games! <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2"><em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2</em></a> may be undergoing a gradual sales slide, dropping another 11 percent this past week, but since the title has maintained the top position on the <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=751&amp;s=1111">UK sales chart</a> for a fifth week, it must be sliding down on a pretty fluffy cushion. <em>Call of Duty: World at War</em> held the high ground for five weeks last year before <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10"><em>FIFA</em></a> took it during Christmas week. Speaking of <em>FIFA</em>, the latest installment dropped from second to fifth this week.</div>
<br />
<a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/assassins-creed-2"><em>Assassin's Creed 2</em></a> couldn't find the next grip location and holds its position in third. Nintendo has <em>Wii Sports Resort</em>, <em>Wii Fit Plus</em> and <em>New Super Mario Bros. Wii</em> at spots two, four and six, respectively. As for premieres, <em>The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks </em>rolled in at 12th place and <em>James Cameron's Avatar: The Game</em> entered at number 29. Now let's see how <em>Avatar</em>: <em>The Movie That Inspired The Game</em> does. If it's a hit, that should help sales of the game.<br />

<em>FIFA 10, </em>the latest iteration of EA Sports' biggest global franchise, itself based on the world's most popular sport, is selling well. That's an understatement. Worldwide, EA estimates game sales have surpassed 4.5 million units since the October 1 launch, including a so-called record-setting first week, in which 1.7 million units were sold in Europe to make <em>FIFA 10</em> the world's "fastest-selling sports video game." What better time to announce that the game will receive a fresh pair of legs?<br />
<br />
EA today announced the pending release of <em>FIFA 10 Ultimate Team, </em>a DLC management mode -- <a href="http://xbox.joystiq.com/2009/03/03/fifa-09-full-version-of-ultimate-team-title-update-priced/">introduced to the series last year</a> (and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/05/card-based-madden-ultimate-team-mode-coming-in-january/">ported to</a> this year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/madden-10-for-wii-sold-only-67k-copies-in-august-ea-calls-overa/">slumping</a> <em>Madden</em> game) -- that has been made over with a "redesigned chemistry system built around player relationships." Think: God game governing platonic dating-sim played with a deck of cards, and ... <em>you're there</em>. Come February, <em>Ultimate Team </em>will be available for download for 400<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> or $4.99 via Xbox Live and PSN.<br />

Much like a dude-seeking missile dropped from an overhead predator drone, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/modern-warfare-2"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a> sales plummeted in the UK after the game's first day of availability. As you already know, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/11/as-easy-as-1-23-million-modern-warfare-2-breaks-first-day-uk-sa/">the game moved 1.23 million copies</a> on its launch day -- however, according to Chart Track's calculations, it finished off the week with a paltry 1.78 million units (for &pound;67.4 million) sold. With <em>pathetic</em> figures like that, you know Activision's got to be feeling disappointed.<br /> <br /> Other UK chart staples (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-fit-plus"><em>Wii Fit Plus</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-sports-resort"><em>Wii Sports Resort</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10"><em>FIFA 10</em></a>) all maintained their top 10 ranking this week -- though the list had two unfamiliar visitors who vaulted to the top of the charts on the back of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/29/xbox-360-elite-holiday-2009-bundle-shipping-today/">a new 360 bundle</a>: <em>Lego Batman</em> (which jumped from 14th place to 7th) and <em>Pure</em> (which sprung from 23rd place to 9th). That's quite a comeback for these two titles, though perhaps they would have fared even better had they been bundled with copies of <em>Modern Warfare 2</em> instead.<br /> <br /> <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=712&amp;s=1111">Source</a> -- Modern Warfare 2 Smashes All Records [Chart Track]<br /> <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">Source</a> -- All formats chart [Chart Track]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/16/modern-warfare-2-makes-a-killing-bundled-games-rally-in-uk-sale/">Modern Warfare 2 makes a killing, bundled games rally in UK sales chart</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Nov 2009 10:08:00 EST. Man, when is Europe going to get over this whole soccer thing? Not only do they love the real-life sport to an unhealthy degree, often leading to gang formation and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Street">general acts of hooliganism</a>, but they also possess a collective, soul-crushing addiction for the game's many virtual representations. For instance, Konami's <em>Pro Evolution Soccer 2010</em> debuted in the top sales spot for UK last week, bumping <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/19/fifa-10-wont-relinquish-top-uk-sales-spot-to-uncharted-2/">former first-place finisher</a> <em>FIFA 10</em> down to third place.<br />
<br />
Nestled betwixt these two was <em>Forza Motorsports 3</em>, which admittedly has little to do with soccer. Fourth and fifth place went to <em>Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games</em> and <em>WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010</em> respectively, which have even <em>less</em> to do with soccer -- though the appearance of a wrestling game in the top five gives us hope for the nation. Now <em>there</em><em>'s</em> a sport.<br />

<div align="left"><em>FIFA 10</em> may have seen a 54 percent sales drop in the UK last week, but it still maintained its place in the top sales spot for the region. The <strike>soccer</strike> <em>football</em> title has now surpassed the million sales mark and has done so three weeks faster than <em>FIFA 09 </em>did last year.<br /><br />Last week's PS3 mega-release, <em>Uncharted 2: Among Thieves</em>, entered the "<a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">All Formats</a>" chart in second place, but was top (naughty) dog on the PS3 sales chart. The franchise wasn't in uncharted territory, though, as the original also reached the top spot on the PS3 chart during its second week at retail. <em>Br&uuml;tal Legend's</em> assault of the charts was less savage. The Tim Schafer creation premiered in the seventh position behind -- <em>really?!</em> -- <em>Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games</em>.<br /><br /></div>

<div align="left">With <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10">FIFA 10</a></em>'s massive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/05/fifa-10-debuts-with-record-uk-sales-lead-layton-maintains-secon/">record-breaking debut</a> last week, it's probably no surprise that the soccer title retained its spot atop the <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=702&amp;s=1111">Chart Track</a>'s UK all formats <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">sales chart</a>. Despite the footie title's 64 percent sales drop, Codemasters' "biggest selling launch title" ever, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising">Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising</a>,</em> grabbed the silver.<br /><br />Meanwhile, <em>Need for Speed: Shift</em>-ed into gear and moved up to third, with Professor Layton stepping off <em>Pandora's Box</em> (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/professor-layton-and-the-diabolical-box"><em>Diabolical Box</em></a> in the States) to fourth. Other notable debuts this week were DS titles <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/scribblenauts"><em>Scribblenauts</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/kingdom-hearts,@ds"><em>Kingdom Hearts 358/2</em></a>, which both drew some attention at the No. 15 and 17 spots, respectively. <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/halo-3-odst">Halo 3: ODST</a></em> continues its slow slide down the charts as it enters sixth place.<br /></div>

EA's annual footie franchise must be doing something right this year because <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10"><em>FIFA 10</em></a> has apparently sold 1.7 million copies in Europe during its first week. According to <a href="http://ea.gamespress.com/link.asp?i=1199&amp;r=1548&amp;r2=9409">EA</a>, the title is "the fastest selling sports game ever and EA's biggest European launch in history."<br />
<br />
Even with the positive launch, <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/fifa-10-record-sales-wont-boost-ea-profits-creutz">GI.biz</a> spoke with an analyst who believes the sales aren't going to help <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/EA/">EA</a> in the long-term. Doug Creutz of Cowan and Company notes that heavy discounts at supermarket chains and other incentives made initial sales strong, but if the situation plays out anything like <em>FIFA 09</em>, the year-on-year sales will only grow marginally. But like a head-butt goal in the first minutes of a match, <em>FIFA 10</em> is putting on a good show during launch.<br />

<em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10">FIFA 10</a></em> -- the <em>Madden</em> of Europa -- had the most successful "all formats" launch since <em>Grand Theft Auto IV</em> in the UK, according to <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=700&amp;s=1111">Chart Track</a>. Earlier this week, we got our hands on a few European GameStop <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/21/rumor-handful-of-250gb-ps3-bundles-heading-to-europe/">listings</a> for 250GB PS3 bundles. Earlier today, <a href="http://www.scee.presscentre.com/Content/Detail.asp?ReleaseID=4859&amp;NewsAreaID=2">SCEE</a> and <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/sce-uk-announces-250gb-ps3-bundles">SCE UK</a> confirmed the hardware packages and included games. Earlier this hour, we went to Whole Foods and purchased some <em>really</em> crisp bok choy. (Sorry. We got into a rhythm there.)<br /> <br /> Europeans will have their choice of <a href="http://www.scee.presscentre.com/Content/Detail.asp?ReleaseID=4859&amp;NewsAreaID=2">two bundles</a>, both of which will be made available throughout October. One of the collections includes <em>Need for Speed: Shift</em>, while the other includes <em>FIFA 10</em>. Needless to say, both bundles come with the recently GB-boosted console. A price point for these two bundles has not been specified, but we've contacted Sony for clarification.<br /><br /> Bizarrely enough, the UK's getting a <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/sce-uk-announces-250gb-ps3-bundles">different set</a> of bundles than the rest of the continent. On October 1, United Kingdomites will have their choice of a 250GB PS3 bundled with <em>Infamous</em> or two unnamed Platinum Hits. Their options will be further expanded on October 16 with the release of an <em>Uncharted 2</em> bundle, and once more on October 19 with a bundle that includes the <em>X-Men Origins: Wolverine</em> and <em>The Dark Knight </em>films on Blu-ray and a film-friendly remote control.<br /><br />SCE UK has graciously provided a price for its bundles -- &pound;284.99 ($450) -- making it our certified <em>favourite </em>European Sony chapter of the day. Showing the far reaching effects of football ("soccer" for us Americans) fandom in a succinct two minute video, EA Sports asks UK residents in its latest ad for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10"><em>FIFA 10</em></a>, "How big can football get?" From the looks of the insanity in the commercial (found after the break), we're going out on a limb here and saying, "Substantially large." Would you care to up that wager with a "significantly enormous?" Maybe a "demonstrably massive?" <br />

This morning, Joystiq received two images, from an alleged Norwegian GameStop employee, in which multiple PlayStation 3 250GB game bundle SKUs are visibly on display. In one image, claimed to be an internal email to all Norwegian GameStop employees, instructions on the difference between the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/rumor-three-different-250gb-ps3-bundles-hitting-the-uk-in-octob/">rumored 250GB PS3 bundles</a> and the current 120GB PS3 are found. The email "there is no difference" aside from storage space and posits four possible "PS3 250GB" bundles: One paired with "NFS" (presumably <em>Need for Speed: Shift</em>); another with "FIFA" (presumably <em>FIFA 10</em>); a third with <em>Uncharted 2</em>; and the final one with <em>Assassin's Creed 2</em>. <br /><br />In the second image, our anonymous tipster supposedly snapped what looks to be the familiar GameStop clerk inventory screen, albeit with commands in Norwegian. It suggests yet another 250GB PS3 bundle, this time with "Ratchet" (presumably <em>Ratchet &amp; Clank Future: A Crack in Time</em>) attached. If we're to trust these images, the bundles will be priced at 3799 kr ($644.16), a 500 kr ($84.78) increase from the current price of a 120GB PS3 Slim at Norwegian GameStops. No release dates are given.<br /><br />We were told last week by Sony of America that an image of an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/16/250gb-hdd-uncharted-2-playstation-3-bundle-spotted/"><em>Uncharted 2</em> PS3 250GB bundle</a> was a "complete fabrication," and as such we've contacted Sony of America as well as Sony of Europe for comment on these images. We'll update this post as we hear more.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gamestop-norway-ps3-250gb-bundle-images/">GameStop Norway PS3 250GB Bundle Images</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gamestop-norway-ps3-250gb-bundle-images/#2304973"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/gamestopposscreencopy223_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gamestop-norway-ps3-250gb-bundle-images/#2304972"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/09/emailgamestopnorwayblurredcopy223_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/21/rumor-handful-of-250gb-ps3-bundles-heading-to-europe/">Rumor: Handful of 250GB PS3 bundles heading to Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Sep 2009 12:50:00 EST. Imagine our excitement upon seeing <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/09/10/demo-fifa-soccer-10.aspx">Major Nelson</a> announce that the demo for footy fiesta <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10"><em>FIFA 10</em></a> was available on XBLM. Now, imagine our excitement being boiled like a <em>Fatal Attraction</em> bunny as we discovered the demo wasn't available in Japan ... or North America. That's outrageous! We live and breathe for the sport!<br /> <br /> Apparently, the excluded regions will have to wait before taking their linebacker down the field and scoring a run in the other guy's hoop. The whole thing makes us want to scream like an athlete on an EA Sports cover.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fifa-10-360/">FIFA 10 (360/PS3)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fifa-10-360/#2188414"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/fifa10_seriea_01_wm_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fifa-10-360/#2188415"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/fifa10_seriea_03_wm_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fifa-10-360/#2188416"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/fifa10_seriea_05_wm_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fifa-10-360/#2188417"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/fifa10_seriea_04_wm_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fifa-10-360/#2198493"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/fifa10_blanco_headers_nt_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/10/fifa-10-demo-up-on-xblm-except-for-you-america/">FIFA 10 demo up on XBLM (except for you, America)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Sep 2009 13:00:00 EST. We may not know much about the athletes on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/06/ea-reveals-uk-lovefest-with-fifa-10-cover-athletes/">various</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/11/who-ea-reveals-fifa-10-north-american-cover-athletes/">covers</a> of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10"><em>FIFA 10</em></a>, but we do know that this trailer looks damn impressive. In fairness, the game often looks rather stunning, but the sizzle reel that EA has whipped up for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamescom-2009">GamesCom</a> (found after the break) is specifically meant to show off the game to its most active market -- which certainly comes through in production quality. Though we don't watch a ton of sports (and we play even less) we're legitimately looking forward to EA's next entry in the <em>FIFA</em> series, set to release this October.<br />

After EA announced a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/06/ea-reveals-uk-lovefest-with-fifa-10-cover-athletes/">trio of British gents</a> gracing the cover of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10"><em>FIFA 10</em></a> in Europe last week, the company today revealed the box art for the North American iteration. Cuauht&eacute;moc Blanco of Chicago Fire and Sacha Kljestan of Chivas USA appear on the box, with <strike>Jason Bateman</strike> Chelsea's Frank Lampard taking center stage.<br />
<br />
EA also revealed the game's release date Stateside to be October 20, while a Euro release has been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/fifa-10-hits-the-pitch-october-2-in-the-uk/">confirmed for October 2</a>. We'll be spending the extra few weeks figuring out what exactly Chivas USA <em>is</em>. Peep the full cover and a new video of <em>FIFA 10</em> in action after the break.<br />

We've been known to dabble in a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fifa"><em>FIFA</em></a> game from time to time, though cover athletes aren't really our <em>forte</em>, if you will. Rather than address our ignorance dead-on, we'll simply tell you that Frank Lampard of Chelsea, Theo Walcott of Arsenal and Wayne Rooney of Manchester United are donning the cover of this year's footballer. <br />
<br />
Believe it or not, the game will feature more than just players from English teams. (Yes, we're <em>just</em> as shocked as you by that possibility.) The game is set to land in the UK on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/fifa-10-hits-the-pitch-october-2-in-the-uk/">October 2</a>, and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/FIFA-Soccer-10-Playstation-3/dp/B002BCVFRM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1249489125&amp;sr=8-1">Amazon</a> and <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=73762">GameStop</a> are putting the game's US release on October 20th. <br />

What kind of crazy, block-bustin' beats are you going to be nodding your head to when playing this fall's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ea-sports">EA Sports</a> titles? The publisher wants you to know, in full, well before any of the games launch. Why? Well, we're not entirely sure.<br />
<br />
One thing that's clearly apparent from the various soundtracks: target markets. We're not exactly left scratching our heads over who wants R&ouml;yksopp rolling in the background while playing a rousing game of footie (hint: <strong>EUROPEANS</strong>) or who wants Alice in Chains pumping in Giants Stadium (hint: <strong>UNITED STATESIANS</strong>). Either way, head after the break for the whole list, including the tunes in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/madden-nfl-10"><em>Madden NFL 10</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nba-live-10"><em>NBA Live 10</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nhl-10"><em>NHL 10</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10"><em>FIFA 10</em></a>. And then go out and buy a R&ouml;yksopp album. You'll thank us.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/27/ea-sports-fall-soundtrack-in-full-from-alexisonfire-to-zap-mam/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EA Sports' fall soundtrack in full, from Alexisonfire to Zap Mama</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/27/ea-sports-fall-soundtrack-in-full-from-alexisonfire-to-zap-mam/">EA Sports' fall soundtrack in full, from Alexisonfire to Zap Mama</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 27 Jul 2009 16:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/35032/FIFA-10-dated-for-October">MCV</a> confirmed with EA that its latest entry in the long-standing soccer franchise, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fifa-10"><em>FIFA 10</em></a>, will arrive at UK retailers on October 2. There's no mention of a release date for North America, so we've put in word to EA to see just when we Yanks will receive the game. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/FIFA-10/">FIFA 10</a></em> line producer (for the Wii version) Sid Misra has told footy fans that troublesome connection issues found in last year's edition are being addressed for the 2010 version of the game. In <a href="http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/fifa-10-nintendo-wii/742742-fifa-10-wii-online-update.html">a forum thread</a> on the official EA Sports site, Misra admitted that online connection problems encountered in <em>FIFA 09</em> were due to errors in the game's code and are currently being ironed out for silky-smooth online gameplay in <em>FIFA 10</em>. That is great news ... unless you're one of the many people who bought <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/FIFA-09/">FIFA 09</a></em> and were unaware of your unofficial status as an EA Sports beta tester.<br /> <br /> According to Misra, EA is confident it can sew up holes in <em>FIFA</em>'s online system -- citing an impressive 95% completion rate during internal testing. We think that's swell, but seeing as though there is a major difference between testing in a controlled environment <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/09/battlefield-1943-servers-being-added-around-the-clock/">and the real thing</a>, we're waiting to see how it performs in our own home before we get excited.<br /> <br /> [Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=89259">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/14/ea-admits-to-errors-in-fifa-09-online-code-promises-fifa-10-fix/">EA admits to errors in FIFA 09 online code, promises FIFA 10 fixed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 Jul 2009 20:15:00 EST. Of the many <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gdc-2009">GDC 2009</a> announcements taking place this week, we were most shocked to see EA sneakily introducing some of the company's most popular franchises to the Apple device some are calling <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/17/sxsw-2009-iphone-the-new-gaming-platform/">the newest gaming platform</a> -- the iPhone. Travis Boatman, VP of worldwide studios at EA Mobile, made the announcement at GDC Mobile, naming <em>SSX</em>, <em>Wolfenstein RPG</em>, <em>Red Alert</em>, <em>FIFA 10</em>, <em>Madden 10</em>, <em>NBA Live 10</em>, <em>American Idol</em>, <em>Spore Creatures</em>, <em>Clue</em>, <em>Risk</em>, <em>Mystery Mania</em>, <em>Connect Four</em>, <em>Battleship</em>, <em>Tiger Woods</em> and <em>Star Trek, </em>according to reports from <a href="http://klepek.wordpress.com/2009/03/24/eas-bringing-red-alert-ssx-more-to-iphone-in-2009/">Patrick Klepek</a> (former MTV Multiplayer writer) and <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/57814">Shacknews</a>. <br /><br />While most of the titles are the to-be-expected EA mutliplatform titles like <em>Madden 10</em> and <em>NBA Live 10</em>, the <em>SSX</em> series will be getting its first update in two years according to this announcement. Also of note, <em>Wolfenstein RPG</em> is of no relation to the just released <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/26/wolfenstein-3d-comes-to-iphone-esrb-reveals-possible-psn-xbla-relea/"><em>Wolfenstein 3D</em> for the iPhone</a>; rather, it makes up half of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/25/id-bullish-on-iphone-wolfenstein-rpg-quake-3-experimental/">two iPhone games id Software</a> is purportedly working on. Details are unfortunately scant at the moment but we've reached out to EA for comment.<br /><br />On a personal note, we'd like to extend our personal "WHAT THE HELL?!" regarding <em>Risk</em> being announced for the iPhone and still not hearing a peep on it coming to XBLA/PSN. Seriously, EA. <em>What the hell?!</em><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/57814">Shacknews</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/26/gdc09-ea-quietly-announces-iphone-versions-of-major-franchises/">GDC09: EA quietly announces iPhone versions of major franchises </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Mar 2009 16:54:00 EST.
