After a year and a half of being on Japanese store shelves, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/Final-Fantasy-Type-0/"><em>Final Fantasy Type-O</em></a> doesn't look like it's getting localized in the US. Luckily, a few fans are up to the immense task of translating the PSP RPG.<br /><br />GBA Temp forum poster SkyBladeCloud has <a href="http://gbatemp.net/threads/final-fantasy-type-0-romhacking.340183/">laid bare</a> all his programming work on the Fi<em>nal Fantasy Type-O</em> ROM on the forums, producing the above shaky-cam video of his work so far. He's not necessarily soliciting translators for assistance, but has made it much easier for fan translation to succeed by reverse-engineering a majority of the game engine. Now Japanese-fluent gamers can help make a translation a reality.<br /><br /><em>Final Fantasy Type-O</em> launched on the PSP in Japan in October of 2011, at the tail-end of the PSP's life cycle. <em>Type-O</em> uses a hybrid battle system not unlike <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/25/metareview-crisis-core-final-fantasy-vii-psp/"><em>Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-3rd-birthday"><em>The 3rd Birthday</em></a> - a mixture of turn-based and real-time action combat.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/12/final-fantasy-type-0-fan-translation-could-use-some-help/">Final Fantasy Type-0 fan translation could use some help</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Feb 2013 04:00:00 EST. A stage presentation on September 1 in Tokyo's Shibuya district titled, "<em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> Lightnight Saga: New Developments Presentation" apparently features "details on the future of the <em>FFXIII</em> project" (via <a href="http://andriasang.com/con201/ffxiii_developments/">Andriasang's translation</a>).<br /><br />Beyond <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> and <em>XIII-2</em>, the Fabula Nova Crystallis series extends to <em>Final Fantasy Versus XIII</em> and <em>Final Fantasy Agito XIII</em> (renamed <em>Final Fantasy Type-0</em>). Of the planned "trilogy" of games, the only one yet to see release is <em>Final Fantasy Versus XIII</em>. In fact, nothing has been heard of the title in quite some time - it was a no show both at last year's Tokyo Game Show and this year's E3 Expo. A demo of the next-gen technology supporting <em>Versus</em>, the Luminous Engine, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/06/this-is-what-final-fantasy-might-look-like-on-next-gen-tech/">was given at E3</a>, but <em>Versus</em> wasn't part of the presentation.<br /><br />Kotaku's <a href="http://kotaku.com/5927645/rumor-final-fantasy-versus-xiii-is-dead">reporting</a> that the game may be in flux or cancelled, though Square Enix reps refused to comment on the status of the title. With any luck, we'll find out more this September.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/20/final-fantasy-25th-anniversary-celebration-includes-ffxiii-deve/">Final Fantasy 25th anniversary celebration includes FFXIII 'developments' talk</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 20 Jul 2012 09:30:00 EST. According to <a href="http://andriasang.com/comz52/ff_type_0_international_release/">Andriasang</a>, Square's Ultimania guide for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-type-0"><em>Final Fantasy Type-0</em></a> includes an interview with director Hajima Tabata, who reportedly reveals that his team is currently working on the international version of the PSP title. This would be the first official confirmation of the game's upcoming arrival in Europe and North America -- though the interview doesn't bring up any details about the timetable for said localizations.<br />
<br />
Andriasang also reports that the interview contains Tabata's plans for the franchise's future. He reportedly wants to make a direct sequel to the game, titled (what else?) Type-1, and would like to see the next installment on a home console. We've contacted Square for a comment on ... well, everything you just read.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/30/report-final-fantasy-type-0-getting-international-release/">Report: Final Fantasy Type-0 getting international release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 Nov 2011 15:00:00 EST. Though much of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-type-0"><em>Final Fantasy Type-0</em></a> is still shrouded in abstract mystery, one thing is known for sure: It is more than 12 minutes long. How do we know? Well, that's the length of the trailer above, which, while substantial, doesn't appear to be all-encompassing.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/17/spare-12-minutes-for-this-final-fantasy-type-0-trailer/">Spare 12 minutes for this Final Fantasy Type-0 trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 17 Oct 2011 20:00:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-type-0">Final Fantasy Type-0</a></em> is finally coming out in Japan on October 27, and Square Enix is observing the long-awaited occasion with an absolutely gorgeous collector's edition. This limited release of the PSP game packs a book of postcards and a three-disc soundtrack set, and looks damn good doing it.<br />
<br />
Here's a bummer: this super pretty set is only going to be available on the Japanese Square Enix e-Store, for &yen;12,760. So, there's very little chance of actually encountering one of these in real life. We're addressing this situation by just gazing languidly at this picture, and the others on Andriasang. It'll also be possible to buy the soundtrack and postcards later, if you're the proactive type.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/10/final-fantasy-type-0s-japanese-collectors-edition-is-lovely/">Final Fantasy Type-0's Japanese collector's edition is lovely</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 10 Sep 2011 05:00:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-type-0"><em>Final Fantasy Type-0</em></a> arrives in Japan on October 13, after <em>years</em> and years of waiting -- you might have read about it in history class, under its original name of <em>Final Fantasy Agito XIII</em>. It was first announced as a mobile game in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/08/3-final-fantasy-xiii-games-2-just-for-ps3/">2006</a>, then officially moved to PSP in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/01/final-fantasy-agito-xiii-heading-to-psp/">2008</a>, then renamed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/18/final-fantasy-type-0-is-new-name-for-final-fantasy-agito-xiii/">this year</a>. Now that Square Enix is <em>absolutely certain</em> it's shaken off anyone who might have been paying attention, the publisher is going to release it. In Japan, at least -- no announcements have been made for other territories.<br />
<br />
But first, it's planned a demo. Starting August 11, Japanese PSP owners (and anyone with a Japanese PSN account, <em>hint hint</em>) can download the demo, titled "Natsubi," which will both introduce players to the content of the action-RPG and unlock special outfits for use in the final game. Even better, unlike the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/10/3-dissidia-duodecim-prologus-demo-strikes-north-american-psn/"><em>Dissidia Duodecim</em> demo</a>, this one's free. Even better than <em>that</em>, this one's not called "Prologus."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/05/final-fantasy-type-0-demo-on-japanese-psn-august-11/">Final Fantasy Type-0 demo on Japanese PSN August 11</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 05 Aug 2011 13:30:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-type-0/">Final Fantasy Type-0</a> </em>(formerly known as <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/18/final-fantasy-type-0-is-new-name-for-final-fantasy-agito-xiii/">Final Fantasy Agito XIII</a></em>) will launch in Japan on October 13. <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/07/20/ff_type_zero_date/">Andriasang</a> says the game, which comes on two UMDs, will cost <span>&yen;7,700 -- a hike from the regular &yen;5,040 for most PSP games.<br />

Square Enix also released a new trailer, but to get a better idea of <em>Type-0</em>'s fast-paced battles (one of its facets that prompted the change in name) you should check out the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/22/square-enix-gives-20-minute-demonstration-of-final-fantasy-type/">20-minute demonstration</a>.</span> The game currently has no announced launch plans for North America.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/final-fantasy-type-0-dated-in-japan/">Final Fantasy Type-0 dated in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Jul 2011 14:00:00 EST. Thank goodness for discrete camcorders! Square Enix producer Hajime Tabata recently gave a 20-minute demonstration of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-type-0"><em>Final Fantasy Type-0</em></a>'s fast-paced combat, exploration and airship battles -- thanks to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkC1lPinIus">one thoughtful soul</a>, we can now watch said presentation in the video after the jump!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/22/square-enix-gives-20-minute-demonstration-of-final-fantasy-type/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Square Enix gives 20-minute demonstration of Final Fantasy Type-0</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/22/square-enix-gives-20-minute-demonstration-of-final-fantasy-type/">Square Enix gives 20-minute demonstration of Final Fantasy Type-0</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 22 May 2011 15:30:00 EST. <br />
Along with the new name, the company premiered a new trailer, featuring lots of depressing, epic CG war footage (warning: wounded Chocobo) along with actual gameplay. The rest looks pretty much like it did <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/multiplayer-battles-discovered-in-new-final-fantasy-agito-xiii-t/">two years ago</a>, at least in terms of the third-person action-style gameplay; the look seems to have gotten a bit darker. However, this version has something "Agito XIII" never did: a release window (specifically, summer).<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> Square Enix has blocked the trailer from YouTube.<br type="_moz" /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/18/final-fantasy-type-0s-new-trailer-for-a-new-name/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Final Fantasy Type-0's new trailer for a new name [update: trailer removed]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/18/final-fantasy-type-0s-new-trailer-for-a-new-name/">Final Fantasy Type-0's new trailer for a new name [update: trailer removed]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Jan 2011 10:45:00 EST. What was to be the PlayStation Portable entry in Square Enix's "Fabula Nova Crystallis" series is now considered a spin-off title with a new name: <em>Final Fantasy Type-0</em>. Director Hajime Tabata resolved the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/17/final-fantasy-types-1-3-also-trademarked-mystery-grows/">mysterious trademark filings</a> at Square Enix's 1st Production Department event in Japan today, noting that the change from "<em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/10/final-fantasy-versus-xiii-and-agito-xiii-tgs-trailers-finally/">Final Fantasy Agito XIII</a></em>" seemed appropriate given how different the more action-oriented design of <em>Type-0</em> had become from <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em>.<br />
<br />
Though it will now distance itself from <em>XIII</em>, <em>Type-0</em> will continue to embrace the PSP -- in fact, when it ships in Japan this Summer, it'll come on two UMDs. According to <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2011/01/18/final-fantasy-agito-xiii-is-now-final-fantasy-type-0/">Siliconera</a>'s translation, the doubled storage will accommodate over 30 voiced characters. Judging by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/multiplayer-battles-discovered-in-new-final-fantasy-agito-xiii-t/">earlier trailers</a>, <em>Final Fantasy Type-0</em> will also feature multiplayer battles. <br />
<br />
We'll contact Square Enix to learn more about its plans for North America.<br />

It's been a while since we've seen any media from the <em>Fabula Nova Crystallis</em> series' other two-thirds -- actually, scratch that. <em>We</em> saw a trailer for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-versus-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy Versus XIII</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-agito-xiii"><em>Agito XIII</em></a> during TGS last month. Now, thanks to Square Enix's unswerving kindness, you can watch it too.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/10/final-fantasy-versus-xiii-and-agito-xiii-tgs-trailers-finally/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Agito XIII TGS trailers (finally) released</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/10/final-fantasy-versus-xiii-and-agito-xiii-tgs-trailers-finally/">Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Agito XIII TGS trailers (finally) released</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 10 Oct 2010 19:00:00 EST. We're pretty sure you'd need one of those bulletin boards from TV crime dramas -- you know, the ones with pictures of mafioso higher-ups with multicolored strings and push pins connecting them -- in order to keep track of all of Square Enix's upcoming games. The studio's resident star designer, <span>Tetsuya Nomura, recently gave an update on these projects -- a laundry list which includes <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-versus-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy Versus</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-agito-xiii"><em>Agito XIII</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kingdom-hearts-birth-by-sleep"><em>Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kingdom-hearts-recoded"><em>Re:Coded</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-3rd-birthday"><em>The 3rd Birthday</em></a>, and "a number of unannounced titles."<br />
<br />
According to <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/08/09/nomura_twitter_updates/">Andriasang's translation</a>, Nomura explained the dearth of news on <em>Versus XIII</em> was due to a number of hardships which have rendered the company's old developmental tricks "completely inapplicable," but that progress is being made. He couldn't be any more specific than that, due to Square Enix's policy of promoting games in the order they'll be released. In that case, we may not hear more on <em>Versus</em> or <em>Agito</em> for some time -- Nomura explained that some of the company's unannounced games would arrive <em>before</em> the next installment in the Fabula Nova Crystallis franchise.<br />
<br />

The creators of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy XIII</em></a> have been notoriously tight-lipped about the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fabula-nova-crystallis"><em>Fabula Nova Crystallis</em></a> trilogy, a series comprised of <em>FFXIII</em>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-versus-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy Versus XIII</em></a> and the PSP-exclusive <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-agito-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy Agito XIII</em></a>. During a GDC panel titled "The Crystal Mythos," director Motomu Toriyama gave a few scant details about the other two branches of the trilogy, and the few similarities connecting the entries in the franchise's 13th series.<br />
<br />
Toriyama's main point during his presentation is that <em>Agito </em>and <em>Versus</em> won't be sequels to the recently released <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> -- they'll both have their own unique set of characters, gameplay systems and overarching stories. The only thing connecting them is the "Crystal Mythos" motif -- a theme where the fates of ordinary humans are controlled by omnipotent gods. Players of <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> should already be acquainted with this storytelling device.<br />
<br />
The other detail about the series Toriyama mentioned was that, like <em>XIII</em>, the rest of the series will continue to focus on story-driven gameplay rather than allowing the player to explore an open world. For better or worse, it sounds like <em>Versus</em> and <em>Agito</em> will possess the same linearity for which <em>XIII</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/16/final-fantasy-xiii-director-comments-on-linearity-early-reviews/">was frequently criticized</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/14/gdc-toriyama-explains-the-themes-of-the-fabula-nova-crystallis/">GDC: Toriyama explains the themes of the Fabula Nova Crystallis trilogy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 14 Mar 2010 19:00:00 EST. As Square Enix developers are prone to do, acclaimed <em>Final Fantasy</em> lead <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/tetsuya-nomura">Tetsuya Nomura</a> recently dropped some vague information about one of the handful of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fabula-nova-crystallis/">Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII</a></em> games that was announced like, <em>a million years ago</em> (okay, okay -- in 2006). Apparently, due to the display of the world map not being up to snuff, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-versus-xiii">Final Fantasy Versus XIII</a></em> may not make an appearance at this year's E3.<br />
<br />
"We were hoping to debut it at E3, but we're not sure now," Nomura told Famitsu (as relayed by <a href="http://www.ff-reunion.net/ff/2010/02/17/nomura_interview_next_kh_main_chara_not_sora">FF-Reunion.net</a>). "For displaying characters on the world map, we were originally planning on using the method used by <em>'FF#,'</em> with a small Noctus running about on the screen, but that didn't look too great, so we ended up switching to the method used by '<em>FF#.'</em>" Allegedly, the "#" designations used by Famitsu in the preceding quotation were an effort to mask the particular <em>Final Fantasy</em> installments Nomura was referring to. "Famitsu had to block them out," explained <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/02/17/ff_versus_xiii_may_miss_e3">Andriasang</a>. <br />
<br />
Nomura also suggested that <em>Versus</em> might be benched for E3 2010 in order to give other Square Enix titles at the show more time in the spotlight. Nomura did not mention <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/agito">Agito XIII</a></em> in the Famitsu article, but did note that, in terms of other projects, "There are a number of them, along with some for which we need to begin preparations for a reveal." That's right -- forget about finally showing us more of the game that was announced four years ago, bring on <em>Final Fantasy XV!</em><br />

If you're reading gaming blogs on a regular basis, Tetsuya Nomura needs no introduction. While <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kingdom-hearts-birth-by-sleep"><em>Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep</em></a> is by no means finished, Nomura is already talking about what's next. In the latest issue of Famitsu (via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/12/22/tetsuya-nomura-discusses-future-projects-mentions-unannounced-game/">Siliconera</a>; scan can be seen <a href="http://www.imagebam.com/image/329c8960771785">here</a>), he confirms two additional projects: one that is already fairly far along in development and another unannounced project that's "not entirely new."<br />
<br />
Aside from <em>Birth By Sleep</em>, Nomura's other known projects include <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-agito-xiii">Final Fantasy Agito XIII</a> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/3rd-birthday"><em>3rd Birthday</em></a>, a new game in the <em>Parasite Eve</em> series. Keep an eye on <a href="http://www.famitsu.com">Famitsu's site</a>, where the full interview will soon be available.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/22/nomura-has-more-unannounced-games-one-not-entirely-new/">Nomura has more unannounced games, one 'not entirely new'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 Dec 2009 22:00:00 EST. At least, that's what <em>Yu-Gi-Oh!</em> and <em>Final Fantasy Agito XIII</em> seem to tell us.<br /><br /><em>Agito</em> is the PSP addition to the massive <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> universe. Like many other PSP games, this RPG is meant to be a multiplayer affair, encouraging PSP owners to connect and battle cooperatively. There is a bit of new info on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-agito-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy Agito XIII</em></a> today. It's just a spot, really. In the pages of the yet released Cloud Message magazine, lays this image of the<em> Agito</em> team's drawing board. In it you can spot a world map, some vehicular concept art and a Chocobo. Yep, Chocobos are going to be in this one. There's also an odd collection of symbols pictured in the lower right-hand corner. What could those things be? Perhaps you'd want to take a closer look and find out? To do that, see larger-sized images <a href="http://ameblo.jp/nekonyan13/entry-10176649543.html">here</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/2008/12/11/cloud-message-final-fantasy-xiii-versus-and-agito-scans.html">Final Fantasy-XIII.net</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/check-out-ff-agito-xiiis-concept-art-world-map/">Check out FF Agito XIII's concept art, world map</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 11 Dec 2008 10:00:00 EST. <div align="left">We've known for some time that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-agito-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy Agito XIII</em></a> will be using a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/16/final-fantasy-agito-xiii-to-use-crisis-cores-atb-system-will-s/">modified version of the ATB system</a> used in <em>Crisis Core</em>, but now we finally have the first screenshot of how that battle system will look like, thanks to the latest issue of Shonen Jump. The headline of this short article confirms that multiplayer will be a big focus for the game -- earlier reports indicate both Infrastructure and Ad-Hoc multiplayer will be included -- this will sit well with Japanese PSP owners who seem to love the Ad-Hoc mode in games like <em>Phantasy Star Portable</em>. While we're glad to see <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/agito"><em>Final Fantasy Agito XIII</em></a> head to PSP, we're saddened to hear that this online-enabled RPG may only arrive in the distant future. According to an interview with Tetsuya Nomura (translated by <a href="http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/2008/09/01/final-fantasy-xiii-demo-may-be-sold-seperatly.html">FinalFantasyXIII.net</a>), the PSP addition to the <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> universe will arrive after the two other PS3 games: <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> and <em>Final Fantasy Versus XIII</em>. The reason for this? According to Nomura, there's simply too much content in the game. The "lengthy story" and "large amount of characters" makes it one of PSP's most ambitious titles yet.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/final-fantasy-xiii"><em>Final Fantasy XIII</em></a> will not debut until 2009 -- and who knows when <em>Versus XIII</em> will release? It looks like for the time being, <em>Agito</em> won't be on our radar until well beyond 2009, into at least 2010. Ouch.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/02/the-long-wait-for-agito-to-release-after-ffxiii-and-versus-xiii/">The long wait for Agito: to release after FFXIII and Versus XIII</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 02 Sep 2008 17:30:00 EST. We don't know much about the upcoming PSP version of <em>Final Fantasy Agito XIII</em>. We know that it'll support <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/16/final-fantasy-agito-xiii-to-use-crisis-cores-atb-system-will-s/">Infrastructure</a> in some way, will have a <em>Crisis Core</em>-inspired battle system, and we know that it's based on cards. Other than that, we're just going to have to stare at these screenshots at <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1217545_1407.html">Famitsu</a> and remark on how Square Enix is able to make such impressive character models on the PSP yet again.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/25/get-schooled-by-these-final-fantasy-agito-xiii-screenshots/">Get schooled by these Final Fantasy Agito XIII screenshots</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Aug 2008 09:25:00 EST. The revelation that <em>Agito</em>, the former <em>Final Fantasy XIII</em> cell phone game, was coming to the PSP was a nice revelation for many. Apparently, the developers were tired of waiting for cell phone tech to advance to the level they wanted for <em>Agito</em>. While details are far and few between, the latest issue of Famitsu PS3 (via <a href="http://finalfantasyxiii.net/index.php?subaction=showfull&amp;id=1218870305&amp;archive=&amp;start_from=&amp;ucat=&amp;">FinalFantasyXIII.net</a>) says that <em>Agito</em> will use an advanced version of <em>Crisis Core</em>'s ATB system. Fans of the PSP-exclusive prequel should be familiar with the real-time battle system. However, unlike <em>Crisis Core</em>, players can look forward to controlling more than one character.<br /><br />Another bonus is the addition of Infrastructure online play to <em>Agito</em>, a rarity for more Japanese-developed titles. Games with community aspects, such as <em>Monster Hunter Portable</em> and <em>Phantasy Star Portable</em> have opted to use Ad-Hoc multiplayer only. Although that hasn't hindered the popularity of either of these games, players across the Pacific understand that Infrastructure makes online play much more accessible. We approve.<br /><br />[Thanks, Monkey!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/16/final-fantasy-agito-xiii-to-use-crisis-cores-atb-system-will-s/">Final Fantasy Agito XIII to use Crisis Core's ATB system, will support Infrastructure</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 16 Aug 2008 09:47:00 EST. Are you itching to get your hands on the much anticipated (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/final-fantasy-xiii-petition-video-is-an-instant-comedy-classic/">and highly controversial</a>) <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Final%20Fantasy%20XIII">Final Fantasy XIII</a></em>, yet you're not hip enough to get invited to Square Enix's exclusive soirees? Squeenix also announced a new PS3 SKU that will include the Blu-ray directors cut.
