Luckily, Amazon has dropped Square Enix's telekinetic adventure to just that price as part of its <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Ffeature.html%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Dvg%5Fnav%5Fhp%5Fdotd%26docId%3D1000208101&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957">Deal of the Day</a>.<br />
<br />
In addition, Amazon is selling another starkly non-traditional <em>Final Fantasy</em> game, the PSP's <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/dissidia-final-fantasy">Dissidia: Final Fantasy</a></em>, at a special one-day price of $14.99. It's normally $20 in stores and on PSN -- which means that you should probably buy it along with something else to qualify for free shipping, or you're not really saving anything.<br />
<br />
Also, <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/nier">Nier</a></em> for PS3 is on sale. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/29/amazon-discounts-crystal-bearers-other-square-enix-oddities/">Amazon discounts Crystal Bearers, other Square Enix oddities</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Jul 2010 12:00:00 EST. Just one month (and one day) after its North American release, Amazon marked the telekinetic action game down to <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_85826191_2?ie=UTF8&amp;docId=1000208101&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_s=right-1&amp;pf_rd_r=036BQR85J3EAWGVR56BE&amp;pf_rd_t=101&amp;pf_rd_p=496383031&amp;pf_rd_i=468642">$32.98</a>. Now you can experience the lovely graphics, oddly compelling tossing-stuff-based gameplay and irritating bosses for yourself!<br />
<br />
If you miss out on this deal, online retailer <a href="http:// http://www.tronixweb.com/store/wii-ss2.html">Tronix</a> sells <em>Crystal Bearers</em> for $40 <em>all the time</em>. Either way, you <em>don't</em> have to pay full price for the thrill of tossing garbage bags at slime monsters.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/27/amazon-pulls-17-off-of-crystal-bearers-price/">Amazon pulls $17 off of Crystal Bearers' price</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 27 Jan 2010 15:20:00 EST. The online retailer is still taking pre-sales at $44.99, with an exclusive calendar, but it has now added a $10 credit on future game purchases to the package. So the game is effectively $34.99. <br /> <br /> With <em>The Crystal Bearers</em> coming out after Christmas, it seems poised to take advantage of gift money and/or returns of items gamers <em>don't</em> want. However, this pre-Christmas deal may require some budget-conscious gamers to spend <em>against</em> their presumed future cash gifts. Or, for those of you with enough disposable income, you can just buy it.<br /> <br /> [Via <a href="http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=105390">GoNintendo</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/24/amazon-bears-the-best-deal-on-crystal-bearers/">Amazon bears the best deal on Crystal Bearers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 24 Nov 2009 16:15:00 EST. The (relatively) bad news: that's because it's coming out more than a month later. Square Enix announced today that <em>Crystal Bearers</em> will be available in PAL territories on February 5, 2010. As waits for <em>Final Fantasy</em> games go, it doesn't seem that bad. <br />
<br />
In fact, with the game being released on a normal day instead of the day after Christmas, maybe someone in Europe will notice its release -- something we suspect may be a problem for a game that has been under the radar for most of its development.<br />

If you're daring enough to pledge your money in advance to Square Enix's bold experiment in <em>Final Fantasy</em> action games, you face a choice: which store -- and which pre-order bonus -- will you choose? Square Enix sent out a list of retailers offering bonuses.<br /><br />If you purchase the game from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BSC4RQ?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=prey0f&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B002BSC4RQ">Amazon</a> (current price: $44.99), you'll get a 2010 calendar. We knew about the vaguely embarrassing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/09/esrb-describes-crystal-bearers-pool-minigame/">pool float minigame</a>, and we've actually seen hints of the other minigame in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/25/another-quirky-final-fantasy-crystal-bearers-trailer/">trailer</a>: ballroom dancing. This seems to take place in the scene in which Layle steals some guy's tuxedo to sneak into an event, and involves rotating the Wiimote and Nunchuk to simulate dancing movements.<br /><br />In the E3 demo, the game was full of diverting events like this. A rail shooter segment opened the game, followed by an airship piloting segment. The main enemy-tossing game will be broken up by events like this one, which <em>finally</em> fulfills the promise of <em>Final Fantasy VIII</em>'s most famous scene.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/19/crystal-bearers-also-has-a-ballroom-dancing-minigame/">Crystal Bearers also has a ballroom dancing minigame</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 19 Oct 2009 16:05:00 EST. Seeing as no fewer than three of Bon Jovi's four members are sporting bad cases of Final Fantasy hair, it makes perfect sense that Square would tap the band to promote <em>Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers </em>in Japan. <br /> <br /> According to <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/10/12/bon-jovi-rockin-out-for-a-final-fantasy-commercial/">Siliconera</a>, ads for the game will begin airing later this month featuring the song "We Weren't Born to Follow." If you recognize the song, it's likely because it made headlines as Bon Jovi's record-setting 100th title that sounds like a douchey high school's senior class motto.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/13/bon-jovi-wants-you-to-live-on-prayer-buy-final-fantasy/">Bon Jovi wants you to live on prayer, buy Final Fantasy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Oct 2009 22:30:00 EST. The ESRB revealed it as a minigame in its content description: "In one mini-game, two women in bikinis try to knock each other off a floating platform using only their hips." The ratings organization also warns buyers that "If players wish to, they may pick up steaming manure and toss it at enemies or the bucolic surroundings." While the spin-off series is still infused with the essence of the main, Roman numeral'd franchise, it's still like eating an egg that tastes like an orange. The latest <em>Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers</em> trailer highlights this peculiarity quite clearly. Heavy on action, with a little sarcasm and some sexiness ... even for <em>Crystal Chronicles</em>, this game still feels <em>different</em>.<br /> <br /> You can read our TGS hands-on preview <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/25/tgs-2009-hands-on-final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-the-crysta/">here</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/25/another-quirky-final-fantasy-crystal-bearers-trailer/">Another quirky Final Fantasy: Crystal Bearers trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Sep 2009 15:44:00 EST. But Square Enix announced a Japan release date of <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/08/28/ffcc-crystal-bearers-now-bears-a-japanese-release-date/">November 26</a>, giving us hope that it would come out worldwide <em>soonish</em>, if not this year.<br /><br />But it <em>is</em> coming out this year in North America! Barely! <em>Crystal Bearers</em> will be out in North America on December 26, just in time for people to return whatever games they received as Christmas gifts from well-meaning relatives. And just in time for students to spend their holiday breaks <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2009/08/07/how-to-bear-arms-in-ffcc-the-crystal-bearers/">tossing Cactuars around</a>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-crystal-bearers/">Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-crystal-bearers/#2222505"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-01-30_08-17-16_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-crystal-bearers/#2222506"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-04-09_07-09-24_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-crystal-bearers/#2222507"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-04-09_07-10-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-crystal-bearers/#2222508"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-04-09_07-14-16_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-crystal-bearers/#2222509"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/2009-04-09_07-19-52_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/14/surprise-ffcc-the-crystal-bearers-out-in-north-america-this-de/">Surprise! That makes us doubt it'll be out Stateside before the end of the year, but at least it's actually being released. Actually, for a long time we perceived <em>Crystal Bearers</em> as in trouble or delayed, but four years for a <em>Final Fantasy</em> game seems about right! <br /><br />Square Enix also revealed the box art (posted in full after the break), which is both nice-looking on its own merits <em>and</em> evidence that Square Enix is getting around to finally putting this thing into boxes!<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20090828_311490.html">GAME Watch</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/28/ffcc-crystal-bearers-now-bears-a-japanese-release-date/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>FFCC: Crystal Bearers now bears a Japanese release date</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/28/ffcc-crystal-bearers-now-bears-a-japanese-release-date/">FFCC: Crystal Bearers now bears a Japanese release date</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 28 Aug 2009 17:16:00 EST.
