Two noteworthy pieces of information came out of a recent Famitsu interview (<a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/02/06/tetsuya_nomura_on_sora/">as translated by Andriasang</a>) with Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura regarding the prolific Disney-<em>Final Fantasy</em> mash-up franchise, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/kingdom-hearts"><em>Kingdom Hearts</em></a>. The first isn't all that surprising -- when questioned at the end of the interview about <em>Kingdom Hearts III</em>, Nomura simply replied "Regarding <em>III</em>, fans and partners alike are pressing us for it, so we'll work to realize it as soon as possible."<br />
<br />
Here's the more intriguing (or disturbing, depending on how you look at it) tidbit -- when asked about Sora's character design, Nomura remarked that the Disney staff made a few alterations to his outfit, explaining his <em>stupid</em> big shoes and pants. He went on to reveal that, in addition to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/08/nomura-the-kingdom-hearts-keyblade-was-originally-a-chainsaw/">wielding a chainsaw-sword</a> instead of a giant key, Sora once possessed a tail and "beast-like ears." That can only mean one thing in our book: <em>Furry</em>. We'll take outrageously baggy pants over unsettling therianthropy any day of the week.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/06/nomura-working-to-realize-kingdom-hearts-iii-explains-soras/">Nomura working to 'realize' Kingdom Hearts III, explains Sora's furry origins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 06 Feb 2010 17:30:00 EST. <br />Does this count as a <em>furry</em> pinup? Is "fur" a requirement for these sort of dealings? And if you're the kind of person who is really <em>into</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dragon">dragons</a>, wouldn't these anthropomorphised features (e.g. blonde hair, humanoid limbs, and <em>dragon breasts</em> all up in your grill) turn you off?<br /><br />Apparently not! Upon seeing the above piece, deviantART member RajginKisaragi commented, "Very beautiful job! I'm glad to be a dragon looking at this ... *Boing*" There you have it, straight from the dragon's maw! A <em>real-life</em> dragon, at that!<br /><br />Natasha "Dark Natasha" Mleynek painted the lid of this Black GBA SP back in 2004 for a friend. While the subject doesn't fit our tastes in either women or dragons, we recognize that Natasha is very skilled in her craft; there are few, if any, technical flaws with this customization. Believe us, she could have done <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/12/halo-ds-a-reality-after-all/">a</a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/50326324@N00/sets/72157594221854345/">lot</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/08/where-once-there-was-beauty-there-now-lives-despair/">worse</a>. Also, she added a layer of clear coat paint to protect her artwork from any man-handling. <br /><br /><strong>See also:</strong> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/11/orcs-and-elves-and-a-john-carmack-autograph/">Orcs &amp; Elves &amp; a John Carmack autograph</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/14/what-is-wrong-with-the-world-today/">What is wrong with the world today?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 Jan 2008 22:00:00 EST. The picture above is about to get NSFW in one frame ... in just one frame it goes from normal marketing cosplay to borderline <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry_fandom">furry</a> pron. GameTrailers put together a <a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24198.html"><span style="font-style: italic;">Girls Gone Wild</span>-esque segment</a> of all the Leipzig booth babe fit for video (which we have placed after the break). We joke, the video is very tastefully done, as tasteful as one can get editing together flesh shots meant to titillate. On some level it's great culture context, for our puritan American eyes, public displays of boobies burns us they do.<br /><br />Leipzig obviously takes a different approach to displays of the female form than E3. Although it was a moot point this year, the last "real" E3 had a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/01/23/censorship-at-e3/">ban on booth babes</a>. We re-emphasize that the video after the break is not safe for work, don't come crying to us if your boss catches you -- although, for all we know, he might be into furries.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/28/leipzig-booth-babes-video-nudity-nsfw/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Leipzig, booth babes, video, nudity, NSFW</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/28/leipzig-booth-babes-video-nudity-nsfw/">Leipzig, booth babes, video, nudity, NSFW</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Aug 2007 10:44:00 EST. These days, the selection is somewhat more limited. Sure, the Sony triumvirate of <em>Sly</em>, <em>Ratchet </em>and <em>Jak </em>are still going relatively strong, and occasional breakouts like <em>Viewtiful Joe</em> and <em>Alien Hominid</em> keep the 2D-platformer on life support, but it's pretty clear that platforming mascots' best days are behind them.</p>
<p>The Age's Screen Play blog was inspired by a page of <a href="http://www.lileks.com/institute/orphanage/index.html">forgotten advertising mascots</a> to post up a list of some <a href="http://blogs.theage.com.au/screenplay/archives//004996.html">rightly forgotten platformer mascots</a> of the recent past. Some fans might be mad to see big names like Sonic and Mega Man alongside true hasbeens like Bubsy and Aero the Acrobat. Personally, we feel the list could use some more additions. Where are Sega's Vectorman, Kid Chameleon and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decap_Attack">Chuck D. Head</a>? Where's gun-wielding robot <a href="http://www.snesclassics.com/snes-archive/BOB.php">B.O.B.</a>? Where's the Saturn's extremely appropriately named <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bug!">Bug!</a>? Where's the useful information that could be in our brains instead of this obscure trivia?</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/06/the-death-of-the-game-mascot/">The death of the game mascot</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 06 Feb 2007 18:20:00 EST.
