The $80 package comes with a steelbook case and a statuette, and is available for both PS3 and Xbox 360 in "extremely limited" quantities.<br /><br />We'd like to see this partnership taken further. With this promotion in place, it's a perfect opportunity to add verisimilitude to the game through the inclusion of Future Shop stores that could sell extra batteries for all that tactical equipment. Entering the annals of bizarre pre-order bonuses, Canada's Future Shop is incentivizing <em>Gears of War 3</em> pre-orders with the "Curb Stomp First Aid Kit," a box containing a set of 24 <em>Gears of War</em> inspired bandages. So, when a member in your domestic COG army has a boo-boo, you can bandage them up quickly and get them back into the fight. Kissing of "ouchies" is optional.<br />
<br />
This bonus is separate from the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/16/gears-of-war-3-limited-and-epic-edition-extras-revealed/">Limited and Epic editions of the game</a>, which include art books and a mini Marcus Fenix. The bandages are near the top of the pre-order oddities we've seen, but certainly not as cool as the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/13/sonic-colors-pre-order-gamestop-bonus-is-this-sonic-hat/">Sonic scalp</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/28/scribblenauts-rooster-hat-becomes-real-gamestop-pre-order-bonu/"><em>Scribblenauts</em> hat</a>. Of course, Greece's Zelda <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/05/greeces-ocarina-of-time-pre-order-bonuses-are-the-best-bonuses/">Deku tree seeds</a> still beat all.<br />

Well, here's another reason for us to be jealous of our up-north cohorts -- for tomorrow only, Canadian tech retailer <a href="http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/category/used-games/27603.aspx">Future Shop</a> is letting shoppers trade in six Wii, 360 or PS3 games for a 32-inch Dynex LCD TV, which normally retails for $300, which is <em>absolutely crazy</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/28/trade-in-six-games-at-future-shop-tomorrow-get-a-32-inch-lcd-tv/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Trade in six games at Future Shop tomorrow, get a 32-inch LCD TV</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/28/trade-in-six-games-at-future-shop-tomorrow-get-a-32-inch-lcd-tv/">Trade in six games at Future Shop tomorrow, get a 32-inch LCD TV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 28 Nov 2010 21:00:00 EST. <strong>Update:</strong> A representative from Best Buy Canada has told Joystiq that any decision made regarding trades in the US "will not have any impact on Canada's operations at this point." The representative went on to say the trade-in program has been "very successful" in Canada and Best Buy Canada Ltd. has no plans to discontinue it.<br />
<br />
<strong>Original:</strong> Although <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/01/walmart-and-best-buy-cease-used-games-trade-in-operations/">reports indicate</a> that Best Buy America's used games trade-in operations will come to an abrupt end, Best Buy Canada continues to offer the used and trade programs in its own stores. On February 1, <a href="http://www.industrygamers.com/news/wal-mart-best-buy-quit-short-lived-used-games-test/">Industry Gamers</a> reported <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/E-Play/">E-Play</a>, the company that distributed used game and trade kiosks to Best Buy and Walmart, suspended operations. Currently, neither major retailer appears to be pursuing replacement programs in stores.<br />
<br />
In Canada, Best Buy and Future Shop both operate under the umbrella of Best Buy Canada Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of its American parent. The company currently runs used game and trade programs within stores of both brands, where customers are given a store credit toward other purchases in the store at each location's customer service desk. The process appears to be modeled closely after GameStop's approach, and the companies even offer similar multiple trade-in promotions (such as drastically slashing the value of games immediately following release).<br />
<strike><br />
Joystiq has contacted Best Buy Canada Ltd. for comment on the recent news affecting its American counterparts, and whether its own operations will change as a result, but has yet to hear back as of this publishing.</strike><br />

Today is what's known as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_day">Boxing Day</a> in some parts of the world. This means that some retailers will be discounting goods. In Canada, such retailers offering big sales include:<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://boxingday.redflagdeals.com/index.php/flyers/image_full/205/">Best Buy</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://boxingday.redflagdeals.com/index.php/flyers/image_full/108/">Future Shop</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://boxingday.redflagdeals.com/index.php/flyers/image_full/65/">Walmart</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://www.redflagdeals.com/deals/main.php/boxingday/toysrus/">Toys R Us</a></li>
    <li><a href="http://boxingday.redflagdeals.com/index.php/flyers/image_full/844/">HMV</a> (Thanks, Tom)</li>
</ul>
Hit up those links to check out what deals they're running. Additionally, you can also cruise past the break for a list of the deals offered by Amazon Canada.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/26/boxing-day-deals-for-canadians/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Boxing Day deals for Canadians</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/26/boxing-day-deals-for-canadians/">Boxing Day deals for Canadians</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Dec 2008 12:00:00 EST. People who pre-order <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/littlebigplanet"><em>LittleBigPlanet</em></a> in the United States already know where to go, but the Canadians up north ... they're still wondering what's to become of the second half of their early-payment campaign. While it's been know for some time now that Canucks could get the adorable Kratos Sackboy from EB Games, it's only now that we find out that Nariko Sackgirl will be available via Future Shop.<br /><br />That's all according to the <a href="http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&amp;langid=EN&amp;MSCSProfile=3C79F0C7EA3162B29078EFCFF8C1FEE5E5E5206C23B9AB536388C4304DF7CA1A85387EC94A5830E02F554D7FC49011B8B0ED90AADBEB0A59CBED477CB567548BC6ED9170A1A77A96F924A503549C0D495E99DE44FEF5A1744ED1D18FEAE3FFC69485E74C9AEBE01D5B6B77C237D4B0DF9F54D7F1362572F4&amp;sku_id=0665000FS10087550&amp;catid=24299&amp;test_cookie=1">Future Shop website</a> as pointed out by one of our Canadian readers. And sorry for being so hard on you guys. We're just sensitive to being mislead, because we've been hurt in the past. Thanks, Evan.<br /><br />Someone over at BioWare must have thought <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/01/no-mass-effect-ce-for-canada-australia-latin-america/">lying to us</a> about the worldwide availability of the <em>Mass Effect</em> Limited Collector's Edition would be funny when they said that the LCE wouldn't be available to Canada. Because it is. Evil Avatar spotted the LCE purchasable exclusively from the Canadian <a href="http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?langid=EN&amp;sku_id=0926INGFS10096937&amp;catid=23378">Best Buy</a> and <a href="http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?langid=EN&amp;sku_id=0665000FS10096937&amp;catid=23358">Future Shop</a> websites, which are both firmly rooted in Canada quarantined internet space. So, if you were initially bummed about BioWare's "confirmation" that the <em>Mass Effect</em>'s LCE wouldn't make it to Canada, then you can be a happy camper knowing that your LCE love will not be denied. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39729">Evil Avatar</a>]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?langid=EN&amp;sku_id=0926INGFS10096937&amp;catid=23378">Read</a> - Purchase at Best Buy Canada<br /><a href="http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?langid=EN&amp;sku_id=0665000FS10096937&amp;catid=23358">Read</a> - Purchase at Future Shop<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/16/canada-gets-in-on-the-mass-effect-lce-fun/">Canada gets in on the Mass Effect LCE fun [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Nov 2007 10:00:00 EST. Harmonix and Electronic Arts' love child <em>Rock Band</em> is supposed to launch its North American tour in a little over a week, but Canada might not be seeing this game until just before Christmas. Canadian retailer Future Shop (owned by Best Buy) has updated its listing for the game with a new release date: December 19 <a href="http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&amp;langid=EN&amp;sku_id=0665000FS10096824&amp;catid=23360&amp;test%5Fcookie=1">for Xbox 360</a> and the day after <a href="http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&amp;langid=EN&amp;sku_id=0665000FS10096822&amp;catid=">for PlayStation 3</a>. (Curiously, a version of <em>Rock Band </em><a href="http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&amp;langid=EN&amp;sku_id=0665000FS10096821&amp;catid=">without</a> <a href="http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&amp;langid=EN&amp;sku_id=0665000FS10096823&amp;catid=">instruments</a> is also listed for those dates.)<br /><br />A number of readers have also reported that their local Canadian EB Games are corroborating the four-week delay. There's no official word from EA or Harmonix yet. Online retailers are prone to error, and with just a week before the game is slated for release, we hope that's all it is. Otherwise, given such short notice and such a noticeable delay, local EA offices might have a mosh pit of angry Hockey fanatics to contend with.<br /><br /><strong>Update: </strong><a href="http://www.thebbps.com/blog/2007/10/11/rock-band-the-bundles-dlc-pricing-the-guitar-hero-stigma-disconnected-gaming-and-more/">bits bytes pixels and sprites</a> has an interview with Harmonix where it is noted that packaging regulations (i.e. Canadian boxes must have English and French text) might cause a short delay -- though we hardly doubt that would justify four weeks of absence. It should also be noted that the PS2 version of the game is due out December 17 which, if the delay is indeed an error, would explain the origins of the miscommunicated release date.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/11/rumor-rock-band-delayed-in-canada-until-dec-19/">Rumor: Rock Band delayed in Canada until Dec. 19 [update 1]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 11 Nov 2007 16:05:00 EST.
