Microsoft's Games on Demand has been noticeably lagging behind Sony, Nintendo - and, yes, PCs in general - on digitally distributed titles launching day-and-date alongside retail releases.

"We have a lot of strong partnerships with retailers," said Yeager at yesterday's MIT Business in Games conference. "We really need them to do a lot for us. They're the ones out there selling the consoles, selling the peripherals and, in this time, we're trying to figure out how to fit that in to the whole digital landscape shift. We're just taking a bit of a measured pace with it."

Microsoft's Xbox 360 has been the top selling console in the United States for the past 26 months. Asked if the company would have moved faster on day-and-date if that weren't the case, Yeager responded, "I probably can't comment on that one."

He continued, "We really strongly believe it's important to have these retail partnerships and the ability to sell our console is the most critical thing for us. If you don't sell the console, you can't sell anything else."

Yeager pointed out that Games on Demand titles have gradually decreased their lag time between retail and digital distribution on the service. Sony's PlayStation 4 has already outlined a heavy digital distribution strategy. Microsoft is expected to announce the plans for its upcoming console in the coming months.

Capcom has also added Resident Evil 6 to the Games on Demand section of Xbox Live Marketplace. The Xbox 360 download weighs in at 7.57GB and will set you back $39.99, the current price of Resident Evil 6 at retail.

The Advanced Edition jets in at €29.99.

Update: Namco Bandai confirmed the releases for North America. As in Europe, Assault Horizon is coming to PC in Q1 2013, and to Games on Demand on December 18.

That's despite Silicon Knights being ordered by the US court to recall and destroy all unsold copies of its products using Unreal Engine 3, of which X-Men: Destiny is one. The company was also ordered to cease producing and distributing games using Epic's technology.

So what exactly's going on here? Well, the ruling in the Silicon Knights vs. Epic Games case dictates Silicon Knights notifies the US court by December 21 of its compliance with the injunctions ordered. This is presumably to give Silicon Knights adequate time to carry out the required actions; recalling and destroying every unsold copy of X-Men: Destiny and Too Human.

So the game newly appearing on XBLM might not contravene the injunctions, at least for now. It should also be noted that Too Human is also currently available on XBLM, while GameStop, Target, and Best Buy all have new copies of X-Men: Destiny listed as available.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City wasn't in the best shape when we reviewed it, but a patch issued back in June may have alleviated some of our issues. And as far as Street Fighter X Tekken goes, that thing's been patched up, down and sideways, and Capcom is promising a "hefty update" later on this year. There's also a new mobile version of Street Fighter X Tekken on iOS now, if you're more for fighting on the bus, train or - well, everywhere we guess since you won't stop staring at your iPhone.

On that day, you'll be able to get Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 individually on either PS3 or Vita, or the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (containing both MGS2 and MGS3) as a Games on Demand release for Xbox 360.

The next week, on August 28, Peace Walker will be available on PS3 and Xbox 360. You'll also be able to get a bundle of all three games on PS3. No prices have been named for these digital releases.

The Gunstringer is bringing the heat to the West with its new DLC installment, El Diablo's 'Merican Adventure, available now on Xbox Live for 240 Microsoft Points. The 'Merican Adventure has players inhabit the body of El Diablo, as is suggested by the title, to hunt down his perfect pinup queen through four levels.

The release of El Diablo's 'Merican Adventure in part celebrates The Gunstringer's launch on Xbox's Games on Demand, where it's currently holding other titles at gunpoint for $30.

The highlights of the sale are certainly the Deus Ex's Missing Link DLC and co-op adventure Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light for 600 MSP ($7.50). There's also some attempted discounts on full downloads of Battlestations: Pacific, Just Cause 2 and Tomb Raider: Underworld; but chances are you can find better in your local bargain bin.

Another game worth checking out is updated original Tomb Raider: Legend: Anniversary, available in two chunks at 400 MSP ($5) apiece (caveat is you'll need to own TR: Legend since it's the DLC). In an interview with Siliconera, Cave game development manager Makota Asada said that, as "an experiment," the offer "was pretty good for what we were expecting." So good, in fact, that Asada said Cave would be willing to try this again. "Yes, we do think we might do it again in the future."

According to Asada, it was Microsoft who approached them looking to dip its toes into the digital imports waters. Deathsmiles 2X is, obviously, a sequel to the company's previous shmup, which was offered as a retail disc in North America. "Because our titles are shooting games, language is not that important, so we decided to try it along with Microsoft," Asada concluded. No matter what language you speak, we can all agree things need to get shot -- and Cave is pretty good at that, so kudos to them.

If you are, let's say, a person, there's a reasonable chance your PC was ill-equipped to play Crysis when it was first released in 2007. The erstwhile PC gaming benchmark is now officially available via Xbox Live Games on Demand and PlayStation Network. Well, the single-player portion is available anyway, as the console release doesn't include multiplayer.

For those on the fence, we'll have a Deja Review up soon. For everyone else, you can snag most of Crysis for $20.

The original Crysis is cruising to consoles (via PlayStation Network and Xbox Live's Games on Demand service) on October 4 for $20, according to EA's last announcement.

In other XBLM news, you can save on a random assortment of Rock Band music including Metallica, Blink 182, Lady Gaga, Bon Jovi, and Queen packs this week, and an equally random assortment of Xbox Originals (Fable, Black, Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex, and Legend of Spyro) next week. Yeah, we don't know.
