Five installments in (the first in 2001), <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em> saw its best week one sales of the series, but <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/?i=1335&amp;s=1111">Chart-Track</a> does note the previous game had a staggered release across formats.<br /> <br /> <em>Max Payne 3</em> sales dropped 51 percent in its second week, but the pill-popping hero's dive -- like everything dramatic he does -- was done in slow motion, leaving him in second place. Capcom's "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/23/metareview-dragons-dogma/">love it</a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/dragons-dogma-review/">hate it</a>" <em>Dragon's Dogma </em>debuted in third.<br /> <br /> Other new titles this week in the top 40 include <em>Mario Tennis Open</em> and <em>Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock</em> at 11 and 34, respectively. Now, put on a fez, fix that bow-tie and check out the UK top ten after the break. It's what's cool.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-3-1-12/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (3/1/12)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-3-1-12/#4860996"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/grfsimagescreen51_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-3-1-12/#4860997"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/grfsimagescreen52_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-3-1-12/#4860995"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/grfsimagescreen50_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-3-1-12/#4860998"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/grfsimagescreen56_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-3-1-12/#4860993"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/grfsimagescreen47_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/28/ghost-recon-future-soldier-obtains-top-uk-sales-position/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier obtains top UK sales position</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/28/ghost-recon-future-soldier-obtains-top-uk-sales-position/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier obtains top UK sales position</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 28 May 2012 08:30:00 EST. "Sign up. You can rock Pantera in the barracks, blow up helicopters and assassinate evil warlords every day," I imagined the end credits might read.<br /><br />But between every clich&eacute;d cutscene, showing the four members of Ghost squad swilling beer and talking car engines while they wait for their next mission, are a bounty of excellent gameplay scenarios: VIPs to rescue, things to blow up and stealth missions that require diligent adherence to caution and calculation rather than simply making sure you move slowly and stay out of sight. No two missions in <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em> are the same, and the diversity in locales and armaments means there's always something new to see - and shoot.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/ghost-recon-future-soldier-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier review: More than just a soldier</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/22/ghost-recon-future-soldier-review/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier review: More than just a soldier</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 22 May 2012 14:00:00 EST. The DLC runs 800 MS Points or $10 on 360 and PS3 (respectively), and the PC version ... well, it seems not to exist. We've asked Ubi what's up with that.<br /><br />The pack contains an unknown number of multiplayer maps, a new co-op "Guerrilla Mode" map, six new weapons, and an additional multiplayer mode. Ubi unfortunately hasn't shown anything of the content aside from the single image you see above, but presumably we'll hear more after the game's launch.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/11/ghost-recon-future-soldiers-arctic-strike-dlc-due-in-july/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's 'Arctic Strike' DLC due in July</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/11/ghost-recon-future-soldiers-arctic-strike-dlc-due-in-july/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's 'Arctic Strike' DLC due in July</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 May 2012 11:45:00 EST. The $80 package comes with a steelbook case and a statuette, and is available for both PS3 and Xbox 360 in "extremely limited" quantities.<br /><br />We'd like to see this partnership taken further. With this promotion in place, it's a perfect opportunity to add verisimilitude to the game through the inclusion of Future Shop stores that could sell extra batteries for all that tactical equipment. The publisher also announced the Ghost Recon Network, a "free companion service" that'll support all future Ghost Recon titles.<br /><br />The beta will feature 12 players competing as teams in two modes, featuring three classes. Working as either a Rifleman, Engineer or Scout, players in "Conflict" mode compete to complete objectives, while "Saboteur" has teams transferring a bomb to detonate in the opposing team's base. Access to the beta is given through <em>Splinter Cell Conviction</em> or by pre-ordering <em>Future Soldier</em> on Xbox 360. PlayStation Plus subscribers receive a PS3 beta key.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-network/">Ghost Recon Network</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-network/#4944998"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/grncareerstatsall_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-network/#4944999"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/grnghost-dossierweb_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-network/#4945000"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/grngunsmithacr1mobiletabletweb_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-network/#4945001"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/grngunsmithacr2mobiletabletweb_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-network/#4945002"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/grngunsmithacr3mobiletabletweb_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/05/ghost-recon-future-soldier-beta-ghost-recon-network-announced/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier beta, Ghost Recon Network announced</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/05/ghost-recon-future-soldier-beta-ghost-recon-network-announced/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier beta, Ghost Recon Network announced</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Apr 2012 13:30:00 EST. A PC delay from Ubisoft? Unthinkable. But it's true: the publisher announced today that the PC release will be available in stores and online June 12, following the May 22 launch on consoles. The release date for the UK is June 15.<br /><br />You can find the full specs after the break. An elegant in-game display susses out the sweet spot between education and economy, making it an art that is often overlooked by design. And when games aim, claim or clamor to be cinematic, life bars and scores tend to be the first things tossed out as distracting clutter. The traditional HUD is fading from view.<br /><br /><a href="http://joystiq.com/game/ghost-recon-future-soldier"><em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em></a> occupies the same fictional space as <em>Call of Duty</em>, adding a glossy veneer to war and sexing things up with tantalizing gadgets. But Ubisoft's take on modern warfare isn't about seeing -- it's about reading. Oh, there's no shortage of cover-based shooting and GET-TO-THE-RPG-ing in here, but those actions are informed throughout by a busy interface. In comparison to many "immersive" blockbusters, you're getting a library and not a pamphlet.<br /><br />In practice, this means <em>Ghost Recon</em> is about learning to decipher information quickly, and drafting attack blueprints on the fly. Despite being on the action-heavy -- pardon me, streamlined -- spectrum of console games, Future Soldier uses its hologram-heavy premise as an excuse to fill the screen with data. Warning: It requires reading comprehension, which is a rather extravagant demand when some of the most popular games just want you to strap in and see the pretty sights whizzing by.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-2-2-12/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (2/2/12)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-2-2-12/#4791862"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/grfsimagescreenshot3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-2-2-12/#4791863"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/grfsimagescreenshot8_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-2-2-12/#4791864"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/grfsimagescreenshot11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-2-2-12/#4791865"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/grfsimagescreenshot13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ghost-recon-future-soldier-2-2-12/#4791866"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/02/grfsimagescreenshot14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/09/ghost-recon-future-soldier-brings-information-warfare-to-the-fr/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier brings information warfare to the front</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/09/ghost-recon-future-soldier-brings-information-warfare-to-the-fr/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier brings information warfare to the front</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Feb 2012 18:25:00 EST. Tom Clancy's infamous ghosts are returning to consoles on May 22, 2012 in North America and May 24 in Europe, Ubisoft announced this morning. Despite having already given the game an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/03/rumor-ghost-recon-future-soldier-release-date/">early March launch date</a>, it seems that the team is retreating back into the shadows for an extra two months.<br />
<br />
Ubisoft IP development director Adrian Lacey said that, while the game is "feature complete in our multiplayer, singleplayer, and four-player co-op campaign modes," it was pushed out of its original launch "in order to ensure that all these ingredients are pushed to the highest level and provide a truly unique shooter experience." We're just worried, by the time it eventually launches, the "future" part of the title won't apply anymore.<br />
<br />
Additionally, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/20/ghost-recon-future-soldier-beta-deploys-january-2012/">promised January beta</a> is also being delayed, with gamers now able to test the multiplayer modes at some point in April. And the PC version that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/25/ghost-recon-future-soldier-on-pc-replaced-by-ghost-recon-online/">turned into <em>Ghost Recon Online</em></a>? It turns out that was little more than a ruse, and a full PC version of <em>Future Soldier</em> will arrive "at a later date." Which is to say, "after May 22/24."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/10/ghost-recon-future-soldier-launch-delayed-to-may-22-in-na-may/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier launch delayed to May 22 in NA, May 24 in EU; PC version totally exists</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/10/ghost-recon-future-soldier-launch-delayed-to-may-22-in-na-may/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier launch delayed to May 22 in NA, May 24 in EU; PC version totally exists</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 10 Jan 2012 12:30:00 EST. <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em> is <em>not </em>coming to PC, Ubisoft has confirmed -- but never fear, because it <em>is</em> coming to PC. <em>Ghost Recon Online</em> will take the place of<em> Future Soldier </em>on PC, as "<em>Ghost Recon Online</em> is the PC equivalent," Ubisoft tells Eurogamer. In February 2010 Ubisoft <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/09/tom-clancys-ghost-recon-future-soldier-to-be-present-holiday-2/">teased</a> a PC version of <em>Future Soldier</em> and began forums tagged "<a href="http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/4571090338">PC</a>" for the game, but apparently those plans have transformed into <em>Ghost Recon Online</em>, a free-to-play, non-DRM, multiplayer title that Ubisoft believes will deter piracy.<br />
<br />
If released online, 95 percent of PC gamers would download <em>Future Soldier</em> illegally, <em>Ghost Recon Online</em> senior producer Sebastien Arnoult believes, and <em>Online </em>is a direct reaction to that assumption. "To the users that are traditionally playing the game by getting it through Pirate Bay, we said, 'Okay, go ahead guys. This is what you're asking for. We've listened to you -- we're giving you this experience. It's easy to download, there's no DRM that will pollute your experience,'" Arnoult tells PC Gamer.<br />
<br />

<p>
	Just about every retailer on the planet agrees: the future is a lot closer than you may think! And here we were waiting for <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDTZcj8Xink">30 Helens to agree</a> this whole time ...<br />
	<br />
	<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ghost-recon-future-soldier"><em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em></a> is apparently slated for launch on March 6, according to listings on <a href="http://www.gamefly.com/RentalMediaTitleSearch/Search/?kw=ghost+recon&amp;sec=1&amp;Go=Submit">Gamefly</a>, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Tom-Clancys-Ghost-Recon-Xbox-360/dp/B0037LTTRO/">Amazon</a>, <a href="http://www.target.com/p/Tom-Clancy-s-Ghost-Recon-Future-Soldier-Xbox-360/-/A-12222219">Target</a>, <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/games/tom-clancys-ghost-recon-future-soldier-signature-edition/77068">GameStop</a>, <a href="http://www.walmart.com/ip/14290976">Wal-Mart</a> and <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Tom+Clancy%27s+Ghost+Recon%3A+Future+Soldier+-+Xbox+360/9889193.p?id=1218189825118&amp;skuId=9889193&amp;st=ghost%20recon&amp;lp=14&amp;cp=1">Best Buy</a>. While we'd never consider a retailer listing as fact (most of the time they're placeholders), the proliferation of identical is pretty compelling. And as of right now, all we really know is it'll launch at least after <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/20/ghost-recon-future-soldier-beta-deploys-january-2012/">the planned January 2012 beta</a>.<br />

His LinkedIn profile confirms the move.<br />
<br />
The studio is known for its work on Tom Clancy games, having most recently worked on <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em> and now rumored to be involved with an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/23/report-ubisofts-next-rainbow-six-to-focus-on-moral-dilemmas/">unannounced <em>Rainbow Six</em> title</a>.<br />
<br />
It's unclear what Votypka's next project will be, but we've reached out to Ubisoft for more information. And as he's just moved from New York City to Cary, North Carolina, it's highly likely he will miss Shake Shack, but fully embrace <em>delicious</em> North Carolina BBQ. (That's unconfirmed, of course.)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/28/former-kaos-studios-boss-becomes-senior-creative-director-at-ubi/">Former Kaos Studios boss becomes senior creative director at Ubisoft Red Storm</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Jun 2011 10:15:00 EST. Aspiring future soldiers will get their first taste of playing as "F-16s on legs" in Ubisoft's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ghost-recon-future-soldier"><em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em></a> when the game's beta rolls out in January. "
<meta charset="utf-8" />
We know you have been asking about the beta," the publisher <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/GhostRecon/status/82933866804948992">wrote in a tweet</a> Monday, before saying, "
<meta charset="utf-8" />
We're excited to announce that the MP beta will be launching in January 2012."<br />
<br />
Ubisoft had <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/12/ghost-recon-future-soldier-preview/">previously said</a> a beta would launch this summer, but any hope of that happening was pretty much dashed when the game itself <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/12/ghost-recon-future-soldier-pushed-to-q1-2012/">was delayed into 2012</a> aka<em> the future</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/20/ghost-recon-future-soldier-beta-deploys-january-2012/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier beta deploys January 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Jun 2011 21:30:00 EST. Ubisoft finally gave us a considerable glimpse at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ghost-recon-future-soldier/"><em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em></a>, taking us to the apparently very dangerous Nigeria in this trailer shown during Ubisoft's E3 2011 press conference. All future soldiers come equipped with time-freezing technology, apparently. And ... boomboxes?<br />
<br />
Along with the new footage, we've also got a side mission for you, soldier: check out these new screens in our gallery below. If not for us, do it for your country. But also do it for us.<br />

As part of Microsoft's Kinect-centric extravaganza during the opening moments of its E3 2011 press conference, Ubisoft's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ghost-recon-future-soldier"><em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em></a> was announced to include both gesture and voice recognition. A particularly neat demo saw a player navigating a weapon customization system using a wave of his arms, tearing apart guns and putting them back together, <em>Minority Report</em>-style. Players can also give commands in this menu -- like "Randomize," to automatically put a weapon together.<br />
<br />
That's just the tip of the iceberg -- the demo showed a virtual testing facility, in which players can fire at targets using only Kinect-detected gestures. It looked pretty smooth, though it's unclear if the control scheme will be available in the core game as well. The demo also included a promise: All future Tom Clancy games will include Kinect support.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/06/ghost-recon-future-soldier-to-include-kinect-support/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier to include Kinect support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Jun 2011 13:02:00 EST. Microsoft would have you believe that <em>everything<em> </em></em>is better with a Kinect sensor (just having it near you makes you sexier!), but in terms of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ghost-recon-future-soldier"><em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em></a>, it's like <em>a real thing</em>. A listing on <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Ghost-Recon-Future-Soldier/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80255530833?cid=search">Xbox.com</a> shows Kinect branding, though no other details were offered.<br />
<br />
Voice commands? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/23/endwar-controlled-solely-voice-commands/">Ubisoft has done it in the past</a>. Facial recognition? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/27/vegas-face-mapping-larry-meet-larry/">Ubisoft has done it in the past</a>. Fancy Kinect-enabled menu navigation? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/your-shape-fitness-evolved">Ubisoft has done it in the past</a>. It's all specualation, of course. We reached out to Ubisoft, but were given the boilerplate "no comment" response.<br />

During an investors call today, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that <em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em> is now scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2012 (the company's 2011-12 fiscal Q4). This places it at the tail end of the fiscal year, which was the previously given (and rather large) release window. "We want first to assure the best quality possible," Guillemot explained in a moment of d&eacute;j&agrave; vu, "as well as to avoid the very crowded Christmas landscape in the shooter genre." It was as if he was still reading <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/18/ghost-recon-future-soldier-delayed-into-march-quarter-2011/">last year's script</a>.<br />
<br />
On May 18, 2010, Guillemot had offered those exact same reasons about <em>Future Soldier's </em>readiness then, saying, "Due to a very competitive environment, we decided to move the game out of the Christmas [2010] quarter, and into the March [2011] quarter." He added, "It will also provide additional time to our development teams to realize their vision."<br />

At this rate, Ubisoft is going to have to change the title to <em>"Ghost Recon: Soldier."</em> Wait a minute -- we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/15/driver-sf-and-ghost-recon-future-soldier-delayed/">already used that one</a> ... These delays <em>are</em> getting old.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/12/ghost-recon-future-soldier-pushed-to-q1-2012/">Ghost Recon: Future Soldier scheduled for Q1 2012</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 May 2011 19:00:00 EST. Have you ever noticed how firearms in Red Storm's <em>Ghost Recon</em> games don't look and sound like tiny little baby cap guns? There's a reason for that -- the team has its own "authenticity program," which is the subject of this recent University of North Carolina news report.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/01/ghost-recon-devs-authenticity-program-explained/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ghost Recon dev's 'authenticity program' explained</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/01/ghost-recon-devs-authenticity-program-explained/">Ghost Recon dev's 'authenticity program' explained</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 01 Apr 2011 05:00:00 EST. A survey floating around seems to suggest Ubisoft is entertaining the idea of bringing some of its franchises over to the big screen -- specifically, <em>Assassin's Creed</em> and <em>Ghost Recon</em>. The above image was submitted to <a href="http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138780">Evil Avatar</a>, which says the survey is geared the toward finding out what would most make those taking it want to see movies based on the franchises -- Ezio, Subject 16 and the like.<br />
<br />
While we feel the world would probably be just fine without another war flick, we'd be all for an <em>Assassin's Creed</em> movie, granted that the project wasn't entirely about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/22/prince-of-persia-becomes-highest-grossing-video-game-based-movie/">making money</a> but also <em>making a good movie</em>. We're probably being a bit naive, though.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/16/ubisoft-survey-gauges-interest-in-assassins-creed-ghost-recon/">Ubisoft survey gauges interest in Assassin's Creed, Ghost Recon films</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 Mar 2011 21:30:00 EST. "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier and Driver: San Francisco, which were previously planned for release in the fourth fiscal quarter, will now be included in the 2011-12 line-up," the report notes. Ubisoft's fourth fiscal quarter runs from January through the end of March 2011, putting the releases of both games somewhere in April 2011 or later. <br />
<br />
Both<em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/12/driver-san-francisco-slides-into-early-2011/">Driver</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/18/ghost-recon-future-soldier-delayed-into-march-quarter-2011/">Ghost Recon</a></em> had already been delayed <em>into</em> the previous "early 2011" timeframe, making this the second announced delay for both titles. At this rate, Ubisoft is going to have to change <em>Ghost Recon</em>'s title to "Ghost Recon: Soldier."<br />

Kotaku reports that Ubisoft has handed walking papers to 38 individuals at Red Storm Entertainment, the studio mostly responsible for handling the <em>Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon</em> games. The studio made a name for itself with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rainbow-six"><em>Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six</em></a> series, starting in the late '90s.<br />
<br />
An Ubisoft representative told Kotaku that "these team members have the opportunity to consider positions in other Ubisoft studios," citing the layoffs were a result of "a realignment of production priorities." Red Storm is currently working on the multiplayer component of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ghost-recon-future-soldier"><em>Ghost Recon: Future Soldier</em></a>. An Ubisoft rep noted the layoffs were "part of a plan to allow the studio to focus on its core expertise: developing innovative multiplayer experiences."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/27/ubisoft-lets-38-go-from-red-storm/">Ubisoft lets 38 go from Red Storm</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Aug 2010 18:30:00 EST.
