<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostwire"><em>Ghostwire</em></a>, the augmented reality game for DSi, has officially been delayed by developer A Different Game. The company tells Joystiq it is now seeking a new "worldwide publisher" for the game after <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/12/ghostwire-no-longer-being-published-by-majesco-fate-uncertain/">losing publisher Majesco</a>, and a release date for the title is now "unknown."<br />
<br />
Showing that it's not ready to give up the ghost just yet, A Different Game has a new <a href="http://www.ghostwiregame.com/">website</a> for the title, and its <a href="http://twitter.com/#%21/ghostwiregame/">Twitter</a> and <a href="http://www.facebook.com/GhostwireGame">Facebook</a> accounts have sprung back to life after a significant hiatus.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/20/ghostwire-officially-delayed-seeking-publisher/">Ghostwire officially delayed, seeking publisher</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Oct 2010 17:00:00 EST. DSi augmented reality game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostwire"><em>Ghostwire</em></a> will no longer be published by Majesco. A representative for the publisher informed Joystiq that the game, which was supposed to be out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/27/majesco-publishing-dsi-augmented-reality-game-ghostwire-in-lat/">this quarter</a>, was removed from the release schedule over the summer; though apparently, <em><em>Ghostwire</em></em> wasn't publicly dropped until recently, as GameFly just sent out notices that the title was "canceled by its publisher."<br />
<br />
The game's <a href="http://www.ghostwiregame.com/">website</a> still notes Majesco as the publisher, and there hasn't been an update to the game's <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/ghostwiregame/">Twitter</a> or <a href="http://www.facebook.com/GhostwireGame">Facebook</a> account in quite some time. We're currently following up with developer A Different Game to find out if it's found a new publisher for the title, and if and when<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span><em><em>Ghostwire</em></em> is now expected for release.<br />
<br />

Bumps in the night. Unexplained sounds. A chill up your spine. Extreme terror. These things aren't associated with the Nintendo DSi, unless you unexpectedly leave yours behind in a taxi. But <a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&amp;source=web&amp;ct=res&amp;cd=1&amp;ved=0CAYQFjAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.adifferentgame.com%2F&amp;ei=YPKeS_qLG4rcNafliLwM&amp;usg=AFQjCNEYXr7uPcM82xpyLtmK9Uv1zaWbQw&amp;sig2=XmtI74DullR-FZ0_lnvPew">A Different Game</a> CEO Tom Soderlund wants to bring all of that augmented paranormal activity to your DSi with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostwire"><em>Ghostwire</em></a> and turn you into a ghostbuster (minus the proton packs). Now you're armed with a stylus and <em>the power of Nintendo</em>. <br />
<br />
Originally conceived four years ago for Symbian-powered smartphones, the idea is to turn your handheld into a tool for communicating with the paranormal world. The built-in camera, sound meters, light meters are all a part of the experience, providing a combination of real-world and computer-generated data. Soderlund's team built an adventure game around it -- you talk to ghosts, find out what's troubling them, and either capture them or attempt to ease their pain.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/16/developer-tom-soderlund-explains-the-frights-of-ghostwire/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Developer Tom Soderlund explains the frights of Ghostwire</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/16/developer-tom-soderlund-explains-the-frights-of-ghostwire/">Developer Tom Soderlund explains the frights of Ghostwire</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Mar 2010 05:00:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/ghostwire"><em>Ghostwire</em></a> lead developer Tom Soderlund told us at GDC that his upcoming DSi-exclusive Nintendo DS game might be coming to Apple's iPhone and Google's Android. The DSi version, published by Majesco, is set to come out <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/24/nintendo-release-date-calendar-2010/">near Halloween</a> this year, and it's possible that other flavors might join it at that time. <br /> <br /> "With the DSi we have location to some extent using the wifi chip, because we can kind of recognize when the user is in a new location, or where they are somewhere they've been before." Soderlund said, "But, we're thinking of taking to the iPhone or the Android which have more emphasis on location-based gameplay.<br /><br />We hope Elvis' grave is first on the list.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/16/ghostwire-to-haunt-iphone-android/">Ghostwire might haunt iPhone, Android</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 16 Mar 2010 04:00:00 EST. The only problem: without a publisher, it was nothing but an <em>apparition</em> of a game. Today, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Majesco/">Majesco</a> announced that it is publishing the augmented reality title (which was originally intended for Nokia phones) with a projected late 2010 release date, under the title <em>Ghostwire: Link to the Paranormal</em>.<br /><br />Using the mic and camera on the DSi, as well as in-game tools like the "EMF tuner," players search around them for hidden ghosts, and then attempt to give them peace by solving puzzles. Some ghosts will require items before they appear and interact with you, and some will apparently be malevolent and less receptive to your efforts. At which point, we assume, you have to solve their problems <em>despite</em> their lack of help, instead of just leaving them to go about their ghostly business.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/27/majesco-publishing-dsi-augmented-reality-game-ghostwire-in-lat/">Majesco publishing DSi augmented reality game 'Ghostwire' in late 2010</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Oct 2009 13:30:00 EST. In this game, reality is "augmented" in a way that makes you look more like a person who freaks out randomly on the street, as you are constantly surrounded by ghosts even in the daytime. <em>Constantly</em>. The use of the DSi's secondary camera to provide a rear view of <em>more ghosts</em> seems especially cruel.<br /><br />We wonder if people who play this a lot start to feel like there are <em>already</em> ghosts all over the place, and we just don't see them without our DSi systems.<br /><br />[YouTube video via <a href="http://www.nintendoraw.com/?p=9273">NintendoRaw</a>]<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/23/see-dead-people-in-this-ghostwire-trailer/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>See dead people in this Ghostwire trailer</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/23/see-dead-people-in-this-ghostwire-trailer/">See dead people in this Ghostwire trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 23 Jun 2009 16:15:00 EST. Sweden-based development studio A Different Game has been watching too much <a href="http://www.scifi.com/ghosthunters/"><em>Ghost Hunters</em></a>, it would seem, as the company is preparing <em>Ghostwire</em>, <a href="http://kotaku.com/5268905/augmented-reality-camera-game-coming-to-dsi">Kotaku</a> reports. <em>Ghostwire</em> is a game where you use your Nintendo DSi to hunt down ghastly ghouls <em>in real life</em>. We're not joking; through use of the Nintendo DSi's camera, microphone, and touch-screen, players will locate ghosts in real-world locales and figure out what they need to be at peace.<br /><br /><em>Ghostwire</em> currently has no scheduled release date.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/25/hunt-ghosts-on-your-nintendo-dsi-with-ghostwire/">Hunt ghosts on your Nintendo DSi with Ghostwire</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 May 2009 11:00:00 EST.
