Notably, the Tomb Raider collection has actually been "remastered for Windows." The Tomb Raider collection is $10, while <em>Colonization</em> is available for $6. On June 19, indie game <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/tiny_and_big_grandpas_leftovers"><em>Tiny and Big</em></a> will also come to GOG, for $10 ($9 for pre-orders). Finally, GOG.com is hosting a special <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/resonance">pre-order program</a> for the upcoming indie adventure title, <em>Resonance</em>. Those who pre-order will receive a 10 percent discount and access to a 4 hour playable preview of the game prior to its June 19 launch.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/30/gog-com-getting-retro-city-rampage-tomb-raider-colonization/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GOG.com getting Retro City Rampage, Tomb Raider, Colonization</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/30/gog-com-getting-retro-city-rampage-tomb-raider-colonization/">GOG.com getting Retro City Rampage, Tomb Raider, Colonization</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 30 May 2012 14:00:00 EST. Tomorrow a livestream press conference will reveal a new RPG with a futuristic setting, evidenced by Rayban Charles up there.<br /><br />He's some concept art that CD Projekt Red released to tease tomorrow's stream, which you can catch over on Facebook or at <a href="http://www.thewitcher.com">thewitcher.com</a>. And with the stream taking place over on the latter, that blip about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/witcher-rise-of-the-white-wolf-spotted-on-retail-sites-for-xbox/"><em>The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf</em></a> from earlier today seems like another candidate for an announcement tomorrow. The plot <em>thickens</em>.<br /><br />The livestream takes place tomorrow at 1pm ET. To see the rest of Rayban's centerfold, you'll need to grab the hoverboard and cruise past the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/cd-projekt-red-teases-futuristic-rpg-for-tomorrows-livestream/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CD Projekt Red teases futuristic RPG for tomorrow's livestream</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/29/cd-projekt-red-teases-futuristic-rpg-for-tomorrows-livestream/">CD Projekt Red teases futuristic RPG for tomorrow's livestream</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 29 May 2012 22:30:00 EST. Games like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/painkiller"><em>Painkiller</em></a>, <em>Spellforce</em>, <em>Dark Fall </em>and the <em>Gothic</em> series are all half-off until next week.<br /><br />On top of the Nordic discounts, GOG.com is offering the original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witcher"><em>The Witcher</em></a> for a paltry $5. Of course, if you're in a rush to get to <em>The Witcher 2 </em>you could just go for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/04/previously-on-the-witcher/">wrap-up video</a>. "Heavy discounts are bad for gamers," Rambourg told <a href="http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/06/gog-talks-preserving-value-of-games-slow-death-of-drm/">Rock, Paper, Shotgun</a>. "If a gamer buys a game he or she doesn't want just because it's on sale, they're being trained to make bad purchases, and they're also learning that games aren't valuable." The all-too-common phenomenon of spending more money than you want to just to get everything that's on sale in a particular week is "not good for anyone," he said.<br /><br />If, like us, you wonder at this point how this attitude squares with GOG's own <a href="http://www.gog.com/promo/interplay_blast">weekend sales</a>, Rambourg explained: "Our average sale tends to be around 40% - 50% off; that's plenty of incentive to pick up a game if you're interested or if you just think you might like to try it because you're not sure about the game, but not some crazy 75% or 85% discount that damages the long-term value of a game." Of course, if you want to get extremely technical about it, the majority of GOG's business is selling $6 versions of games that cost upward of $50 when they originally came out (twenty years ago).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/16/gog-head-massive-discounts-bad-for-gamers/">GOG head: massive discounts 'bad for gamers'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 16 Apr 2012 12:30:00 EST. Or, as we like to call it, this is GOG's "buy 16 games, get 16 games free" sale.<br /><br />The sale includes <em>Fallout</em> <em>2</em>, <em>Earthworm Jim 1 and 2</em>, <em>MDK</em>, <em>Freespace </em>and <em>Invictus: In the Shadow of Olympus</em>, for $3 each. Every title is $3, actually, making the entire bundle $96 -- a savings of $96. Yes, that's what we meant with "buy 16, get 16 free." This could also be the "buy one, get two half off" sale, or the "buy 8, get 16 half off" sale. Take your pick; any way they're all good old games for a great new price.<br /><br />The sale runs from now until Monday at 11:59 p.m. EDT.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/13/good-old-games-taking-half-off-interplay-titles-this-weekend/">Good Old Games taking half off Interplay titles this weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 13 Apr 2012 20:30:00 EST. Available for XP, Vista and Windows 7, the free version includes the game itself, <em>Fallout</em>-themed wallpapers, a 205 page "<em>Fallout</em> bible" and the soundtrack.<br /><br />Originally released in 1997, <em>Fallout</em> will feel familiar and yet <em>dramatically different</em> to anyone whose history with the series begins with <em>Fallout 3</em>. For a total investment of zero dollars, however, it's hard to do much better.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/05/fallout-free-on-gog-com-for-the-next-48-hours/">Fallout free on GOG.com for the next 48 hours</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Apr 2012 14:45:00 EST. This weekend, GOG has a mad rush of Zork titles and other "<a href="http://www.gog.com/promo/activision_treasures?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=game_subject&amp;utm_campaign=activision_treasures">Activision Treasures</a>" on sale, including <em>Zork: Grand Inquisitor</em>, <em>Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands</em>, <em>Return to Zork</em> and <em>The Zork Anthology</em>, which has <em>Zork 1</em>-<em>3</em>, <em>Beyond Zork</em>, <em>Zork Zero</em> and <em>Planetfall</em>.<br /><br />All Zorky titles are half off, for $3 each this weekend, along with <em>Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura</em>, <em>Caesar 3</em> and <em>Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption</em>, the last of which we hear was recently rebooted as an open-world western. Or, wait. That may have been something else entirely.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/30/have-a-good-zork-filled-weekend-with-activision-treasures-sale/">Have a good, Zork-filled weekend with Activision Treasures sale on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 30 Mar 2012 13:00:00 EST. The new, new GOG offers more community features to suggest new games, a new, faster downloader, and, most importantly, more games.<br /><br />GOG is fulfilling its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/report-good-old-games-to-offer-good-new-ish-games/">promise</a> of newer games with a growing selection of recent indies including <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/trine"><em>Trine</em></a> and <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_whispered_world"><em>The Whispered World</em></a>. Pre-orders for the first-person dungeon RPG <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/legend_of_grimrock"><em>Legend of Grimrock</em></a> are open now for $11.99, in advance of its April 11 release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/27/gog-re-relaunches-with-new-indies-and-grimrock-pre-orders/">GOG re-relaunches with new indies and Grimrock pre-orders</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Mar 2012 12:30:00 EST. The first two Square-Enix titles to hit the service are <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/hitman/"><em>Hitman: Codename 47</em></a> and <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/deus_ex/"><em>Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition</em></a> (2000 being the year in question). You can pick up either for $5.99 and $9.99 respectively.<br /><br />GOG promises more Square Enix games to come. We'd expect most of those to come from Square's library of Eidos titles (<em>Thief</em>, anyone?), though the PC ports of <em>Final Fantasy VII</em> and <em>VIII</em> are a slim possibility. <em>Slim</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/26/square-enix-joins-good-old-games-with-deus-ex-and-hitman/">Square Enix joins Good Old Games with Deus Ex and Hitman</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Jan 2012 11:00:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/syndicate">Syndicate</a></em>, the original title of twisted corporate greed and cyberpunk inhumanity, is hitting <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/syndicate">GOG</a> on Thursday, Jan. 19 for $5.99. GOG's <em>Syndicate </em>will come with the game manual, artwork and avatars, but until it's officially released GOG is having a little dystopian fun.<br />

Ten players can win a copy of <em>Syndicate </em>by forming the best team of four people -- yourself and three others, real or imaginary, dead, alive or not born yet -- to lead the DRM-free revolution as the world's largest Syndicate. Last week, we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/05/gog-cutting-the-prices-of-most-games-in-half-giving-witcher-wit/">told you</a> about GOG's upcoming Holiday Sale, forcing you to inhabit a dream of the future when you can buy old games cheaply. Now you can escape that reverie and feel the joy of $3 <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/duke_nukem_3d_atomic_edition/"><em>Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition</em></a> in the real world, as the Holiday Sale has begun!<br />
<br />
You'll find games like <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_witcher"><em>The Witcher</em></a>, <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/beyond_good_and_evil"><em>Beyond Good &amp; Evil</em></a>, <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/psychonauts"><em>Psychonauts</em></a>, and the <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_incredible_machine_mega_pack"><em>Incredible Machine Mega Pack</em></a> for $5 each; <em><a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/freespace_2">Freespace 2</a>, <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/master_of_orion_1_2">Master of Orion 1 + 2</a></em>, and <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/fallout"><em>Fallout</em></a> for $3 each; or, if you feel like playing something from this year,<em> <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_witcher_2">The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings</a></em> for $23.99.<br />
<br />
When you're browsing the deals page, be sure to hit the "show more deals" button at the bottom because, you see, there are so many <em>more deals</em>. In fact, almost everything in the catalog is half off until January 2. Activision games go back to regular price on December 26, and Codemasters and Piranha Bytes are skipping the sale.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/12/psa-gog-holiday-sale-on-now-lots-of-3-and-5-games/">PSA: GOG holiday sale on now, lots of $3 and $5 games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 12 Dec 2011 22:34:00 EST. Classic game distributor (and CD Projekt portal) GOG isn't one to be left out of the holiday discount phenomenon. The site <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/news/gog_com_s_holiday_celebrations_are_almost_here">revealed</a> its sales plans for the rest of the month, including a free copy of <em>The Witcher</em> with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witcher-2"><em>Witcher 2</em></a> downloads, and a 50 percent discount on "virtually" its whole catalog.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/05/gog-cutting-the-prices-of-most-games-in-half-giving-witcher-wit/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GOG cutting the prices of most games in half, giving Witcher with Witcher 2 purchase</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/05/gog-cutting-the-prices-of-most-games-in-half-giving-witcher-wit/">GOG cutting the prices of most games in half, giving Witcher with Witcher 2 purchase</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Dec 2011 17:00:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witcher-2">The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings</a></em> sold nearly a quarter of a million copies through digital distribution channels between May 17 and October 30, publisher CD Projekt has announced. The company revealed in late August that it had reached <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/30/the-witcher-2-approaching-a-million-sales/">nearly a million sales</a> of the RPG between retail and digital.<br />
<br />
CD Projekt's DRM-free digital distribution service GOG.com sold approximately 35,000 copies of the game, with Steam picking up the five-headed lion's share with 195,000 sales. According to the publisher, "all other digital distribution outlets combined sold approximately ten thousand units."<br />
<br />
"The digital sales of <em>The Witcher 2</em> have exceeded our expectations. We are even more pleased that our own platform GOG.com had such a great share in the <em>Witcher</em>'s success," said Marcin Iwiński, co-founder of CD Projekt Group. "The performance of GOG.com in selling new titles is not completely surprising, as we have said for years that DRM isn't necessary. It is gratifying to see that the only platform that offered <em>The Witcher 2 </em>DRM-free from launch has performed so well."<br />
<br />
Well, yes, <em>but</em> over 550 percent more went the Steam route. So, the crowd angry enough about DRM to vote with their wallets form a vocal minority. It's not hard to see why Ubisoft, which has been one of the harshest of publishers when it comes to DRM, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/30/ubisoft-says-always-on-drm-is-a-success-fans-are-confused/">considers it a success</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/10/witcher-2-digital-sales-pass-a-quarter-million/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Witcher 2 digital sales pass a quarter million</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/10/witcher-2-digital-sales-pass-a-quarter-million/">Witcher 2 digital sales pass a quarter million</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 Nov 2011 13:30:00 EST. Adventurers take note, Good Old Games is currently offering the first three Broken Sword titles <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/promo/broken_sword_trilogy">at half price</a>. That's three retro adventures for a paltry $9, or $3 each if you're feeling choosy (and you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/22/six-million-gog-downloads-means-broken-sword-for-everyone/">should have the first one</a> anyway). GOG has also <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/broken_sword_4">added the fourth game</a> in the series, <em>Broken Sword: Angel of Death</em>, to its catalogue, though we've heard rumors that the $10 title isn't worth your precious time.<br />
<br />
Joystiq has sent one of its reporters on assignment to talk with the public to find out more. Join him on the scene after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/19/broken-sword-trilogy-sale-on-gog-fourth-game-added/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Broken Sword trilogy sale on GOG, fourth game added</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/19/broken-sword-trilogy-sale-on-gog-fourth-game-added/">Broken Sword trilogy sale on GOG, fourth game added</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Oct 2011 14:45:00 EST. You all did your part in downloading a ton of stuff from Good Old Games. Now, after the goal of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/22/six-million-gog-downloads-means-broken-sword-for-everyone/">six million downloads</a> has been achieved, it's GOG's turn to reciprocate and give everyone <em>Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars</em> for <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/broken_sword_directors_cut/">free</a>, until October 1 at 7:59 AM EDT.<br />
<br />
Even better, you'll actually sort of get two copies of <em>Broken Sword</em> for free. The GOG version includes both the remastered Director's Cut, with an exclusive extra chapter, and the original version, in case you don't like your <em>Broken Swords</em> all fixed up.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/29/broken-sword-directors-cut-now-free-on-gog/">Broken Sword: Director's Cut now free on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 29 Sep 2011 16:00:00 EST. <p>
	During a livestreamed press conference this afternoon, Polish developer CD Projekt Red detailed many of the 2.0 changes coming to its hit PC title, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-witcher-2">The Witcher 2</a></em>. Those features include a new tutorial system, addressing complaints that the game dropped players off right into the deep-end of the gameplay pool.<br />
	<br />
	If your complaint wasn't that the game was <em>too hard</em> but rather <em>too easy</em>, version 2.0 also introduces the so-called "Dark" mode, which "is nearly as difficult as 'Insane,' but allows players to save the game." And if your complaint wasn't that <em>The Witcher 2</em> was too easy or too hard, but rather <em>too finite</em>, you'll be interested in Arena mode, which is a wave-based arcade mode where players will fight (<em>and fight and fight</em>) until they finally succumb to the enemy horde. Depending on how you fared, you could opt to upload your progress to Facebook or the game's forums.<br />
	<br />
	In addition to the PC enhancements, the upcoming Xbox 360 "adaptation" (don't call it a port!) includes all of the new 2.0 features, as well as some other "new features." Most notable, according to CD Projekt Red, is an all-new "4 minutes long CGI Intro by Oscar nominee, and BAFTA winner, animator Tomasz Bagiński." Baginski did the CGI intro for the first Witcher title, but promises, "The CGI Intro for <em>The Witcher 2</em> will have different flavor than the one known from the first Witcher game." And before you get too upset, PC players, while the CGI intro is strangely being billed as an Xbox "feature" it will "be part of the future update of the PC version of the game as well."<br />
	<br />
	The 2.0 update hits PC a week from today, on September 29th, for the low, low price of <em>free</em>, while the Xbox 360 release is still expected in the Q1 2012 window. If you've been looking for an excuse to try your hand at <em>witching</em>, a new retail price point as well as some digital promotions should help. Beginning today, the Steam version is available for $29.99 (or &euro;29.99) until October 6. CD Projekt Red sister company GoG.com will offer a DRM-free version on the 29th for the same price, until October 6 as well. If retail is more your thing, <em>The Witcher 2</em> is getting a $10 drop from $49 to $39 (or &euro;39), a price already beat by Amazon.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-witcher-2-9-22-11/">The Witcher 2 (9/22/11)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-witcher-2-9-22-11/#4473265"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/sgirenderbattle_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-witcher-2-9-22-11/#4473266"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/09/sgirendersiege_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/22/the-witcher-2-gets-2-0-update-next-week-steam-sale-begins-today/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Witcher 2 gets 2.0 update next week, Steam sale begins today</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/22/the-witcher-2-gets-2-0-update-next-week-steam-sale-begins-today/">The Witcher 2 gets 2.0 update next week, Steam sale begins today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Sep 2011 22:45:00 EST. <em>Wing Commander 3: Heart of The Tiger </em>is available now on GOG.com for $6. Promoted at the time as an "Origin Interactive Movie" and filmed in Hollywood (remember when that mattered?), the game is still a great example of early 3D graphics, FMV and an industry having a "movies are the future of games" identity crisis.<br />
<br />
Beyond Mark Hamill (<em>Star Wars</em>) in the lead, the game also featured John Rhys-Davies (<em>Lord of the Rings, Sliders</em>) and Malcolm McDowell (<em>Clockwork Orange, Heroes</em>).<br />
<br />
If sprites and animations are more your thing, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/25/wing-commander-and-dungeon-keeper-2-land-on-gog/"><em>Wing Commander 1 + 2</em></a> are also available on GOG as a bundle for $6. There's no Mark Hamill, but there's totally a main character with blue hair.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/14/important-mark-hamill-news-wing-commander-4-now-on-gog/">Important Mark Hamill news: Wing Commander 3 now on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 14 Sep 2011 13:30:00 EST. Interested in being the master of a whole world -- or being a <em>total slave</em> to the rules of one? Two games newly added to GOG's DRM-free lineup will let you experience both. <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/populous"><em>Populous</em></a> lets you build a world and a civilization, and then ... you know, unleash natural disasters upon it.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/ultima_4"><em>Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar</em></a> puts you in the role of a hero who must save the land of Britannia while adhering strictly to eight virtues. Thrift isn't one of those virtues, but it's still something you can practice with this game, as GOG is giving it away for free! If you want to pay for some <em>Ultimas</em>, the <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/ultima_1_2_3">first three</a> are also up.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/01/populous-and-ultima-iv-hit-gog-and-ultimas-free/">Populous and Ultima IV hit GOG -- and Ultima's free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 01 Sep 2011 22:00:00 EST. Good Old Games has <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/news/the_great_ea_classics_are_back">announced</a> some new (old) additions to its Electronic Arts library today. First, the service is rounding out the <em>Dungeon Keeper</em> series with <em>Dungeon Keeper 2</em>. The second addition perhaps deserves a bit more fanfare, as classic series (and occasional <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/29/with-a-q-the-joystiq-game-show-001-sonic-bonanza/">quiz show fodder</a>) <em>Wing Commander</em> makes its way onto GOG.<br />
<br />
GOG is bundling both <em>Wing Commander</em> and <em>Wing Commander 2: Vengeance of the Kilrathi</em>. In other words, you won't be able to get your Mark Hamill fix ... yet. GOG promises six more EA titles are "coming soon."<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/wing_commander_1_2"><em>Wing Commander 1+2</em></a> bundle and <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/dungeon_keeper_2"><em>Dungeon Keeper 2</em></a> are available now for $5.99 apiece.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/25/wing-commander-and-dungeon-keeper-2-land-on-gog/">Wing Commander and Dungeon Keeper 2 land on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 25 Aug 2011 10:30:00 EST. GOG is pointing a double-barreled crossbow of delight at us, with a deep discount on <em>The Longest Journey</em> and the addition of <span class="vdark_un"><em>Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath</em>. Departing from the regular <em>Oddworld</em> expectations, <em>Stranger's Wrath</em> is a hybrid of third-person action and first-person shooter, seasoned with elements of the Spaghetti Western and Oddworld touches like the "live" critter ammo. The game is available now on GOG for $9.99.<br />
<br />
If you'd prefer a sweeping adventure, <em>The Longest Journey</em> is on sale for $3.99. Much like <em>The Neverending Story</em>, we can't vouch for the accuracy of game's title, but it does involve a <em>very long journey</em>, so you'll definitely get your money's worth in this classic point-and-click adventure.</span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/19/gog-adds-strangers-wrath-discounts-the-longest-journey/">GOG adds Stranger's Wrath, discounts The Longest Journey</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Jul 2011 11:30:00 EST. The library at Good Old Games expanded to include <em>Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc</em> today. Our own Ludwig Kietzmann <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/LudwigK/status/90800901870198785">notes</a> that the game isn't quite as magical as <em>Rayman 2: The Great Escape</em>, which is also on GOG, but is worth it for "John Leguiziamo and the inexplicable ability to drive Rayman's shoe like a car." You can <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/rayman_3_hoodlum_havoc">snag</a> <em>Rayman 3</em> now for $6.<br />
<br />
Also, as part of its Summer Hidden Gems sale, GOG has cut the price of <em>Dream Pinball 3D</em>. Today only, the title can be had for <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/dream_pinball_3d">$2.39</a>, which is less than most gamers would plunk into a <em>real</em> pinball machine.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/12/rayman-3-hoodlum-havoc-hits-gog-dream-pinball-3d-discounted/">Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc hits GOG, Dream Pinball 3D discounted</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 12 Jul 2011 14:00:00 EST. Like some sort of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=063wANsIjmE">mad car salesman</a>, GOG.com has dropped the price of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/10/sanitarium-now-available-on-gog-com/"><em>Sanitarium</em></a> so low that some might call it <em>kerrrrr-azy</em>. For today only, the 1998 adventure in sanity has seen its price fall to $3.99. With savings like that, maybe you can afford some <em>nice</em> tinfoil hats for once.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/08/crazy-deal-sanitarium-for-4-on-gog/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Crazy deal: Sanitarium for $4 on GOG</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/08/crazy-deal-sanitarium-for-4-on-gog/">Crazy deal: Sanitarium for $4 on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 08 Jul 2011 16:55:00 EST. Just minutes after Guillame Rambourg, managing director of GOG.com, made the announcement that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/02/ea-games-now-on-gog-starting-with-privateer-dungeon-keeper-an/">the digital game sales platform would carry much of EA's classic back catalogue</a>, Joystiq pulled him aside on the roof of a hotel in downtown Venice, CA to chat about the announcement.<br />
<br />
First up, we talked about GOG's other efforts lately, including <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/07/gog-updates-site-gives-away-1994s-dragonsphere/">releasing a dedicated downloader </a>client for Windows, and a private messaging system. Rambourg says both have been going gangbusters. "The downloader is definitely the favorite way of getting games from GOG," he told us. "We've had up to 20 million API calls since we launched the downloader, and the peak was 2 million calls in an hour." The downloader isn't required to use the service, and Rambourg said since it doesn't support Mac or Linux users, it probably won't be for a long time, if ever.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/03/gog-com-we-are-totally-not-interested-in-being-bought-by-anybo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GOG.com: 'We are totally not interested in being bought by anybody'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/03/gog-com-we-are-totally-not-interested-in-being-bought-by-anybo/">GOG.com: 'We are totally not interested in being bought by anybody'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Jun 2011 17:00:00 EST. If you don't feel like buying a 3DS and a $40 cartridge to play <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/19/rayman-3d-is-an-adaptation-of-rayman-2/"><em>Rayman 2: The Great Escape</em></a> -- but you don't want to buy a <em>used</em> copy -- GOG provides another alternative. The DRM-averse online retailer has added the PC version of <em>Rayman 2</em> to its store, charging the customary $5.99. That's a <em>steal</em> for one of the greats of the 3D platforming genre, especially since GOG throws in a 91-track soundtrack download with the game.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/29/rayman-forever-is-on-gog-now/"><em>Rayman Forever</em></a>, a version of the first 2D Rayman game with assorted extras, is also available on GOG.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/26/rayman-2-the-great-escape-captured-by-gog/">Rayman 2: The Great Escape captured by GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 May 2011 14:00:00 EST. With JoWood in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/21/jowood-recovery-plan-breaks-down-closure-appears-imminent/">dire straits</a> and quite possibly closing its doors for good, <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/promo/jowood_week_special">Good Old Games</a> is currently selling the company's entire catalog at a massive discount. All individual titles in the JoWood catalog can be had for sixty percent off, with the most expensive titles selling for a whopping $4. Or, if you've got some really deep pockets, you can bag GoG's entire JoWood catalog of 13 games for under $25, a savings of over $70. The sale is active through Tuesday.<br />
<br />
We can only hope that the sale might help JoWood stay alive. It's possible, however, that GoG is simply trying to make some money off of the titles while it still has rights to do so, as JoWood could begin selling off its game properties to pay back its creditors. Check out a list of available titles after the break.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/28/gog-com-selling-entire-jowood-catalog-at-up-to-75-off/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GOG.com selling entire JoWood catalog at up to 75% off</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/28/gog-com-selling-entire-jowood-catalog-at-up-to-75-off/">GOG.com selling entire JoWood catalog at up to 75% off</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 28 Apr 2011 22:30:00 EST. What better way to wait for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/03/another-world-ios/">iOS release</a> of <em>Another World</em> (or, as the more American among you may know it, <em>Out of this World</em>) than by <em>playing Another World</em>?<br />
<br />
The beautifully remastered 15th Anniversary edition of Eric Chahi's cinematic side-scroller is available from <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/GOGcom/status/60644608752881664">GOG</a> right now for $3.99 as part of a 24-hour sale. It'll return to its normal $10 price tomorrow at 6AM EDT.<br />
<br />
This sale is a "GOG Gems" promotion -- the retailer offers a deep discount on a catalog item every third Wednesday, with the stated effort of introducing players to classics they may not have played yet. GOG refers to it as a "curated promo."<br />

Oh, and while you've got your credit card out -- <em>Star Control 1</em> and <em>2</em> are on <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/star_control_1_2">GOG</a> in a $6 bundle. If you've never played either, then you're missing out on not only a great strategic experience, but awesome spaceship combat as well.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/20/another-world-15th-anniversary-on-sale-at-gog-for-4/">Another World 15th Anniversary on sale at GOG for $4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Apr 2011 10:45:00 EST. Your weekend itinerary has just been officially cleared by Good Old Games. Your new task? Buy and complete all six of Sierra's delightful <em>Space Quest</em> games. Each pack of three is on sale for $6.99, 30% off the usual price.<br />
<br />
You can also get<em> King's Quest</em> or <em>Police Quest</em> collections for the same price, but we suggest going through those only after you've experienced the epic space opera of interstellar janitor Roger Wilco, full of thrilling action, spacefaring adventure, time travel, cowardly hiding, and floor waxing.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/15/space-quest-and-other-sierra-collections-on-sale-at-gog/">Space Quest and other Sierra collections on sale at GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Apr 2011 14:00:00 EST.
