Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus on North American PSN Dec. 4

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus will arrive on the PlayStation Network in North America on December 4 for $14.99, according to Arc System Works' Takeshi Yamanaka over on Twitter. The game (which was originally released on the PS2 back in 2008) has quite a few different versions floating around, including one for the PSP, another on the Wii, and an XBLA version earlier this year. The PSN version has only been released in Japan thus far.

Europeans: you'll need to "wait a bit more" for your release, says Yamanaka.

Guilty Gear hits XBLA next week, Arkham City on sale this week

Surprise! Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus is coming to Xbox Live in North America on October 24. We previously learned only its Japanese release window, and had no confirmation of western release at all. But you'll be able to engage in vintage metal-inspired 2D fighting next week for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).

Before that, however, you can enjoy sales on Batman: Arkham City and its DLC. From today through October 22, the game is on sale on Games on Demand for $29.99 (prices vary regionally), with all DLC half off. It's joined by a half-off deal on XBLA Kinect game Wreckateer. And next week, starting October 23, Bioshock, Bioshock 2 and related DLC will be on sale.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus hits Japanese PSN/XBLA this Oct.

During a visit to the Arc System Works booth at the Tokyo Game Show, we discovered that the XBLA and PSN versions of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus will be launching sometime in October, provided you live in Japan.

This revamped re-release -- of a revamped re-release of a revamped re-release -- will be available for ¥1,500/1,200 MS Points, depending on your platform of preference. Our booth visit also yielded this collection of screenshots, which conjures up nostalgic memories of after-school Grave Digger loops, mini-Faust hijinks and I-No's provocative finishing pose.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus hits Japanese PSN/XBLA this Oct.

There's still no word on when or if it will ever make it to the US, but the PSN and XBLA re-release of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus had its Japanese release window narrowed from a rather broad "summer" time frame into late October, according to Andriasang.

As you may have noticed, October is totally not summer at all, and no reason for the delay was given. We have learned a little more about the game's balance, though: At launch, GGXXACP will temporarily play identically to the PS2 version. Eventually, the game will be patched to reflect the changes made to Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, which is currently being tested in Japanese arcades.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus coming to Japan this summer, limited edition arcade stick in tow

The XBLA/PSN port of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus will roman cancel its way into Japanese living rooms sometime this summer, according to Siliconera's translation of Famitsu. Still no word on a North American or European release date, however, but a Japanese release window is a good sign that things are progressing in some fashion.

Despite years of inactivity brought on by legal troubles and developmental purgatory, the Guilty Gear series still holds a very special place in the living, beating heart of the fighting game community. So much so, in fact, that arcade parts manufacturing powerhouse Sawna Denshi is producing a limited edition Guilty Gear arcade stick for the PS3, set to launch alongside the game's Japan release.

The stick will be available from Ebten for ¥13,980 ($171.95) when it does launch, but since Sanwa only operates in Japan, we doubt it'll make its way to any domestic retailers that don't specialize in importing esoteric wares from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus coming to XBLA and PSN

One of the most technically demanding fighting games ever created is on its way back, no longer doomed to toil in irrelevant obscurity while its younger brother masquerades in its clothes.

Testament, Sol, Kai, Dizzy and the rest of the musically inspired cast of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus are all headed to the welcoming arms of XBLA and PSN, according to Arc System Works. Like other XBLA/PSN re-releases, GGXXACP will feature netplay, though whether that will be done in-house or powered by an external service like GGPO remains to be seen. No word yet on pricing or a release date, but we're willing to accept anything up to and including a crapdillion dollars, just so long as the launch happens before we die.

Not to be confused with Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, Guilty Gear XX Slash, Guilty Gear XX #Reload or Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus was the final version of Guilty Gear XX, released way back in 2008 on the PS2 and Wii. The XBLA/PSN port follows an announcement that Arc System Works will be producing the very first arcade versions of the game; hopefully this ramp-up in Guilty Gear goodness is a sign of things to come.

Fans of 2D fighters and the Guilty Gear franchise, prepare for enjoyment. Aksys has revealed Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, which is set to grace the PS2, PSP, and Wii with its 2D splendor in Spring 2009. As big fans of 2D fighters, we were more than happy to receive the press release and pass the info along to you all. So, what should you expect?

Well, there will be punching. There's also going to be some kicking. And, by all means, do not freak out when you see a character or two jump. Jokes aside, it's another Guilty Gear game. You pretty much know what you're getting into by now.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus trailer

The trailer for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus (that was a mouthful, huh?) is a short one that highlights all the new modes and options available on the PSP port of this PS2 game. As reported earlier, the PSP version will feature 3-on-3 battles, an actual Story Mode which the original PS2 game lacked, a new Survival Mode that allows leveling-up, a Gallery mode and an Ad-Hoc option to challenge your friends. The game should be exactly what Guilty Gear fans have come to expect: a fast, quirky and complex 2D fighter. The game is scheduled to be released on July 24th in Japan.
