The game, <em>Xblaze</em>, will be released this fall on unknown platforms in unknown regions, and may tie in with the BlazBlue universe/mythos. <br /><br />No further information is yet available, so at this point the game could be virtually anything. In true Rampant Speculation Theatre fashion, our <strike>hastily concocted</strike> <em>educated</em> guess is as follows: It will be revealed that the "X" in <em>Xblaze</em> is actually pronounced "cross," ala <em>Street Fighter X Tekken</em>. Yes, <em>Xblaze</em> will be the first cross-over fighting game ever to cross over with <em>itself</em>, pitting characters from <em>BlazBlue</em> against characters from, uh, <em>Blazblue</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/24/rampant-speculation-theatre-presents-xblaze-announced-by-arc/">Rampant Speculation Theatre presents: 'Xblaze' announced by Arc System Works</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 24 Mar 2012 17:30:00 EST. Like other XBLA/PSN re-releases, GGXXACP will feature netplay, though whether that will be done in-house or powered by an external service like GGPO remains to be seen. Grab some friends this weekend, and indulge in a little (virtual) four-player combat on the cheap. Retro game publisher DotEmu -- the company behind the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/03/another-world-ios/">iPad version</a> of <em>Another World </em>-- just added the two-on-two fighter <em>Guilty Gear Isuka</em> to its DRM-free download shop, for $6.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/23/guilty-gear-isuka-downloadable-through-dotemu/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Guilty Gear Isuka downloadable through DotEmu</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/23/guilty-gear-isuka-downloadable-through-dotemu/">Guilty Gear Isuka downloadable through DotEmu</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 23 Apr 2011 04:00:00 EST. That was nothing compared to <em>Furo Jump!!: Guilty Gear Gaiden!?</em> for DSiWare. <br />
<br />
<em>Furo Jump</em> (literally <em>Bath Jump</em>) stars Chimaki, a hidden character from <em>Guilty Gear 2</em>, in a quest to visit a hot spring for relief from back pain. To get to his dream bath, Chimaki must spin on a bar of soap and whip a towel at pink elephants. Sounds totally like <em>Guilty Gear</em> to us, right? <br />
<br />
<em>Furo Jump</em> will make its splash on Japanese DSiWare September 1 for 500 DSi Points. Head past the break for the trailer with the world's most annoying narration. You can also play a <em>Furo Jump</em> Flash minigame <a href="http://www.arcsystemworks.jp/arcstyle/furojump/minigame.html">here</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/26/dsiwares-furo-jump-guilty-gear-gaiden-claims-the-weirdest-gui/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>DSiWare's Furo Jump: Guilty Gear Gaiden claims the 'weirdest Guilty Gear game' prize</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/26/dsiwares-furo-jump-guilty-gear-gaiden-claims-the-weirdest-gui/">DSiWare's Furo Jump: Guilty Gear Gaiden claims the 'weirdest Guilty Gear game' prize</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 26 Aug 2010 06:00:00 EST. Arc System Works has built a legacy of fighting games with its <em>Guilty Gear </em>franchise. Recently, the company introduced a new fighting franchise in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/blazblue"><em>BlazBlue</em></a>, and even though it was very well-received -- it's almost at a 90 on <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/search/process?sort=relevance&amp;termtype=all&amp;ts=blazblue&amp;ty=0&amp;button=search">Metacritic</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/15/review-blazblue-xbox-360-ps3/">we certainly enjoyed it</a> -- fight fans want to know when they'll get more <em>Guilty Gear</em>. Well, based on comments made by series producer/creator Daisuke Ishiwatari to <a href="http://www.nowgamer.com/news/2122/next-gen-guilty-gear-in-the-works">NowGamer</a>, an Xbox 360 and PS3 installment may already be under consideration.<br />
<br />
"I have the full intention to create <em>Guilty Gear</em> for PS3 and 360." Ishiwatari said. There was even some talk of a <em>BlazBlue</em>/<em>Guilty Gear</em> crossover, though Arc System Works business development director Tomo Ohno avoided any definitive commitments. "<em>BlazBlue</em> is a new thing, and there might be some crossover but at the moment we don't have any plans."<br />

With its global online support, we expected that Arc System Works' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/05/blazblue-throws-a-beatdown-on-ps3-xbox-360/">console port of arcade brawler <em>BlazBlue</em></a> would eventually be released outside of Japan. Now niche publisher Aksys has <a href="http://www.aksysgames.com/2009/03/04/blazblue-announced-for-north-america-bs/">quietly revealed plans</a> to bring the elegant 2D fighter to North America for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. <br />
<br />
Like their counterparts in Japan, fighting game fans in North America can look forward to mastering super moves and combos this summer, as players beat the heat by staying indoors away from bears and tiresome physical activity. With <em>King of Fighters XII</em> slated for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/03/king-of-fighters-xii-hits-ps3-360-worldwide-this-july/">a July release</a> as well, the only question we're left with is: How will our hands survive?<br />
<br />

Arc System Works, the folks behind popular 2D fighting franchise <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guilty-gear"><em>Guilty Gear</em></a>, are planning on bringing their high-def 2D fighter, <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/02/16/a-plethora-of-blazblue-stuff-just-for-you/"><em>BlazBlue</em></a>, to the Xbox 360 and PS3 <a href="http://ps3.ign.com/articles/959/959132p1.html">IGN reports</a>. Currently only available in Japanese arcades, the title is being ported to home consoles in the region, with release aimed at this summer. <br />
<br />
Notable additions to the console port include a story mode, with individual stories for each character available. This story mode will offer branching storylines based on the battles you win, as well as the choices you make while playing. Director Toshimichi Mori says the story mode easily offers 30 hours of gameplay.<br />
<br />
On top of that, gamers can look forward to online support for battling folks around the globe, as well as DLC, which Arc has planned, yet no specific items were mentioned. The console version of the game will also provide all characters with Astral Heat special moves, which were only given to a select few boss characters in the arcade version of the game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/05/blazblue-throws-a-beatdown-on-ps3-xbox-360/">BlazBlue throws a beatdown on PS3, Xbox 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Mar 2009 14:27:00 EST. Fans of 2D fighters and the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guilty-gear">Guilty Gear</a> </em>franchise, prepare for enjoyment. Aksys has revealed <em>Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus</em>, which is set to grace the PS2, PSP, and Wii with its 2D splendor in Spring 2009. As big fans of 2D fighters, we were <em>more than happy</em> to receive the press release and pass the info along to you all. So, what should you expect?<br /><br />Well, there will be <em>punching</em>. There's also going to be some <em>kicking</em>. And, by all means, do not freak out when you see a character or two <em>jump</em>. Jokes aside, it's another <em>Guilty Gear</em> game. You pretty much know what you're getting into by now.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-1/">Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-1/#1319904"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/sol_potemkin_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-1/#1319903"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/sol_may_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-1/#1319902"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/sol_jam_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-1/#1319901"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/mission-mode-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-1/#1319900"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/01/mission-mode-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/27/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-coming-to-ps2-psp-and-wii/">Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus coming to PS2, PSP, Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Jan 2009 21:30:00 EST. We mean the headline literally, you see, because this week's marquee title (arguably) is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fracture"><em>Fracture</em></a>. You may recall <em>Fracture</em> as the earth molding third person shooter from LucasArts. If you don't remember it -- and we wouldn't blame you -- there's a demo of the game available on Xbox Live Marketplace right now. We've also got a platformer, two basketball titles, and ... um ... <em>Guilty Gear 2: Overture</em>. All told, we have:<br />

The trailer for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guilty-gear-accent-core"><span style="font-style: italic;">Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus</span></a> (that was a mouthful, huh?) is a short one that highlights all the new modes and options available on the PSP port of this PS2 game. As reported <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/guilty-gear-accent-core-plus-makes-some-changes-for-psp/">earlier</a>, the PSP version will feature 3-on-3 battles, an actual Story Mode which the original PS2 game lacked, a new Survival Mode that allows leveling-up, a Gallery mode and an Ad-Hoc option to challenge your friends. The game should be exactly what <span style="font-style: italic;">Guilty Gear</span> fans have come to expect: a fast, quirky and complex 2D fighter. The game is scheduled to be released on July 24th in Japan.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.psphyper.com/psp/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-trailer/">PSPHyper</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/09/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-trailer/">Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 Jul 2008 17:00:00 EST. This is going to be the biggest <em>Guilty Gear</em> title to-date with 25 characters and what appears to be 3-on-3 battles. Since this is on the PSP, ad-hoc capability is going to get some attention. Playing ranked matches in that mode will net you higher rankings based on if you win or lose a number of times.<br /><br />There's over 350 scenes and full voice acting for the scenarios, but you can also choose Mission Mode and get some sort of reward for clearing that (an illustration per character?). In addition, there's Survival Mode where you can choose one character and grow them to be pretty much unstoppable there. If any of our translation came out wrong, let us know, but the game's getting a release July 24 ... we're assuming the 2006 we got in our translation is a typo and they mean 2008. Get ready to import! Let's rock!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/guilty-gear-accent-core-plus-makes-some-changes-for-psp/">Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus makes some changes for PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Jun 2008 17:00:00 EST. <div align="left">With so many places to gather information from these days, it's rare that a game is actually announced by the people who are really making it, and this time is no exception. After the very <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/16/spyro-and-guilty-gear-originals-now-available/">recent release</a> of <em>Guilty Gear X2 #Reload</em> to the Xbox Originals download service, this might seem to be a rather strange move, but still, Sega is looking to bring another <em>Guilty Gear</em> game to the 360, this time via the Live Arcade. <br /><br />The European ratings board just got up <a href="http://www.pegi.info/en/index/global_id/23/?searchString=gear&amp;agecategories=&amp;genre=&amp;organisations=&amp;platforms=XLA&amp;countries=&amp;submit=Search">its rating</a> for the game, which is simply entitled <em>Guilty Gear</em>. While it is of course unknown at this time whether or not the game is going to be a straight remake of the original or something new, given XBLA's history, a port of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guilty_Gear">the original PS1 game</a> seems likeliest.<br /> </div>

We'd love to meet the person who's choosing what games to re-release as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Xbox-Originals/">Xbox Originals</a>. Because, to be perfectly honest, we just don't get how they're deciding which games will get the treatment and in what order. Take, for example, this new coupling, arriving on your 360 on June 16:<br />
<ul>
    <li><em><strong>Guilty Gear XX #Reload</strong></em> (1200 Microsoft Points, WW except Europe): "Guilty Gear X2 #Reload makes its Xbox(R) debut, and, for the first-time ever, introduces online play with head-to-head Xbox Live[TM] support! Play over 20 different combatants and hidden characters, and devastate your opponents with an arsenal of eye-popping, jaw-dropping moves and combos-it's good to beat each other!"</li>
</ul>
<ul>
    <li><em><strong>The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning</strong></em> (1200 Microsoft Points, WW except Germany, Japan, and Korea): "Explore the origins of the one and only powerful purple dragon in The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning. Uncover Spyro's secret history as you embark on a dangerous quest to face off against the ultimate creation of the Dark Master, Cynder."</li>
</ul>
Really guys? <em>Spyro </em>and <em>Guilty Gear</em>? We've only got two questions -- well, no, we have dozens, but here are the two we're dying to ask: Just how big does a dartboard have to be to fit all the Xbox games on it? And which blindfolded intern is chucking the darts?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/spyro-guilty-gear-coming-to-xbox-originals/">Spyro, Guilty Gear coming to Xbox Originals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jun 2008 13:00:00 EST. Curse in public! Shout in victory on the bus/plane/train! Famitsu has leaked out information that a port of <em>Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus</em> is <a href="http://download-psp.com/blog/?p=2199">coming to the PSP</a>. For the uninitiated, this is the most complete and balanced version of the game to date, so you're guaranteed hours of awesomeness. What's more, it seems an ad-hoc mode for three-on-three tournaments is in the works. More details on that as they surface. For now, drool in anticipation!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/26/guilty-gear-xx-accent-core-plus-on-its-way-to-psp/">Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus on its way to PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 26 Apr 2008 07:00:00 EST. Proving that old sprites never die (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sfiv">they just go 3D</a>), upstart publisher Aksys has confirmed that it will release Arc System Works' "tactical action game" <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/18/guilty-gear-ii-overture-revealed-for-xbox-360-not-a-fighting-g/"><em>Guilty Gear 2: Overture</em></a> in North America this fall for the Xbox 360. The game, which takes characters from the <em>Guilty Gear</em> 2D fighting game series and injects them into a kind of bizarre amalgamation of 3D action and strategy, cannot help but remind us of last year's <em>Soul Calibur Legends</em>...and we're less than enthused to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/18/joystiq-impressions-soul-calibur-legends-wii/">put ourselves through that experience</a> again without some measure of alcohol.<br /><br />The game is the latest attempt at reinventing the storied franchise, following 2004's <em>Guilty Gear Isuka</em>, which upped the ante by allowing up to 4 players slug it out in a chaotic battle royal. <em>Overture </em>instead turns its attention to the series' complicated, <em>often </em>convoluted post-apocalyptic storyline, with spiky-headed Sol Badguy and his rectangular sword leading the charge in large scale battles while "balancing resources and deploying troops." Frankly trying to wrap our heads around how this will all work has given us a headache, so we're just going to file this one away in our '<em>might be interesting</em>' basket and go have a <span class="me">lie-down.</span><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-2-overture/">Guilty Gear 2: Overture</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-2-overture/#694254"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/gg2_007_announce_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-2-overture/#694253"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/gg2_006_announce_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-2-overture/#694252"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/gg2_005_announce_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-2-overture/#694251"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/gg2_004_announce_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guilty-gear-2-overture/#694250"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/03/gg2_003_announce_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/11/heaven-or-hell-aksys-bringing-guity-gear-2-overture-to-xbox-360/">Heaven or Hell! But remember kids, <em>Overture</em> is not going to be a traditional <em>Guilty Gear</em> game. <em>Overture</em> is what is described as a 3D action game with elements of an RTS as you command an army into battle, so don't go into this looking forward to old school 2D sprite fighting. Aksys did reveal a few specifics, stating that <em>Overture</em> will allow for you to command 50 "servants" into battle and that the game will support <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-live">Xbox Live</a> multiplayer. Our only question, will die-hard <em>Guilty Gear</em> fanboys support a game that strays so very far from the traditional path?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/11/guilty-gear-2-overture-release-set-for-q3-2008/">Guilty Gear 2: Overture release set for Q3 2008</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Mar 2008 15:45:00 EST.
