Toys R Us has decided that <a href="http://www.toysrus.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=11958635&amp;pg=1"><em>all peripherals must go</em></a>, and in order to clear the shelves as quickly as possible, a ridiculous number of DJ Hero, Tony Hawk, and Guitar Hero bundles for all systems have been marked down to $9.99. If you've just got <em>too darn much</em> free space in your living room, make <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/20/peripheral-price-drop-madness-guitar-hero-dj-hero-and-tony-ha/#continued">the jump</a> for the full list of store-only mega-deals. We recommend getting a swift move on, however; even with these franchises functionally dead, we don't expect this stuff to hang around for long. <br />

<em>Call of Duty: Black Ops</em> might be the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/10/npd-call-of-duty-black-ops-is-the-uss-best-selling-game-ever/">best-selling game</a> by unit sales, but it isn't the US bestseller in terms of gross revenue. According to NPD data going back to 1995, and compiled by <a href="http://www.cnbc.com/id/42252946?slide=1">CNBC</a>, the honor of the highest-grossing game of "this generation" goes to another Activision game, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/23/axl-rose-suing-activision-over-inclusion-of-slash-in-guitar-hero/">Axl Rose-angering</a> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/guitar-hero-iii-legends-of-rock"><em>Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock</em></a>. <em>Black Ops</em> is #2.<br />
<br />
The list of the NPD's top ten best-selling games by revenue (after the break) includes a second <em>Guitar Hero</em> game, too -- <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-rip">R.I.P.</a> -- along with <em>Rock Band</em> and both <em>Wii Fits</em>, which suggests that the best way to make a lot of revenue is simply to make your game <em>cost more</em>. Although <em>Wii Play</em> and <em>Mario Kart Wii</em> are also on the list, so maybe people just <em>really like</em> finding peripherals inside their game boxes, like cereal box prizes.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/25/npd-guitar-hero-3-is-this-generations-highest-grossing-game/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>NPD: Guitar Hero 3 is this generation's highest-grossing game</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/25/npd-guitar-hero-3-is-this-generations-highest-grossing-game/">NPD: Guitar Hero 3 is this generation's highest-grossing game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 25 Mar 2011 10:15:00 EST. Planning on honoring the grand American tradition of taking off Fourth of July week and playing rhythm/music games every day? You'll be glad to hear, then, that Microsoft is honoring the grand American tradition of offering up sales <em>you just can't pass up</em> -- more specifically, sales on gobs of DLC tracks for said rhythm/music games. <br />
<br />
200-plus tracks are seeing price drops for as much as 50 percent, with content being discounted for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rock-band-2">Rock Band</a></em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rock-band-2">/</a><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rock-band-2">Rock Band 2</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/guitar-hero-world-tour">Guitar Hero 5</a></em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/guitar-hero-world-tour">/</a><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/guitar-hero-world-tour">Guitar Hero: World Tour</a></em>, and every <em>Lips</em> title from July 6 - 12. We've got the entire list of tracks and track packs just after the break, you big <em>independence celebrator</em>, you.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/04/live-a-palooza-discounting-hundreds-of-music-tracks-on-xbox-li/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>'LIVE-a-palooza' discounting hundreds of music tracks on Xbox Live</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/04/live-a-palooza-discounting-hundreds-of-music-tracks-on-xbox-li/">'LIVE-a-palooza' discounting hundreds of music tracks on Xbox Live</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 04 Jul 2010 11:30:00 EST. The <em>Guitar Hero </em>machine is set to spit out <em>Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile: Backstage Pass</em> for major carriers, including the Android Market and BlackBerry App World. The latest no-peripheral (unless you count the phone) entry in the music series was developed by Hands-On Mobile, which is <a href="http://www.guitarheromobile.com/worldtour/overview.php">no stranger to miniaturized music games</a>.<br />
<br />
If you're wondering how much money there is to be made from a <em>Guitar Hero</em> title without any peripherals, just look to <em>Guitar Hero III Mobile.</em> Maybe you even <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/guitar-hero-iii-mobile-sells-a-million/">bought it</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/13/guitar-hero-world-tour-mobile-backstage-pass-coming-to-android/">Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile: Backstage Pass coming to Android, Blackberry</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 May 2010 20:30:00 EST. <strong>Update:</strong> It appears as though Activision itself has answered the question of what songs specifically are importable into <em>Guitar Hero 5</em> from <em>World Tour</em> (35 songs) as well as <em>Smash Hits</em> (21 songs), via the <a href="http://guitarhero.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/guitarhero.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=24672&amp;p_created=1251305800&amp;p_sid=sg1eGSGj&amp;p_accessibility=0&amp;p_redirect=&amp;p_lva=&amp;p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTMsMTMmcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PWltcG9ydA!!&amp;p_li=&amp;p_topview=1">Activision Customer Support Center</a>. The full list of songs available from each game has been dropped after the break -- thanks to everyone for sending this in!<br />
<br />
We can't lie to you, friends -- when Activision claimed songs from last year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour"><em>Guitar Hero World Tour</em></a> would be <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/10/more-on-guitar-hero-5-song-import-dlc-support-band-hero-will-d/">playable</a> in this year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-5"><em>Guitar Hero 5</em></a>, we were skeptical. It seems that skepticism proved right, as <a href="http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters/post/2009/08/guitar-hero-rocks-on/1">USA Today</a> reveals that a hair over one third of <em>GHWT</em>'s tracks can be downloaded into the new game. Specifically, just 35 of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/12/heres-the-full-guitar-hero-world-tour-set-list/"><em>World Tour</em>'s 86 tracks</a> are playable in <em>GH5</em>, with an unspecified amount of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-smash-hits"><em>Guitar Hero Smash Hits</em></a> tracks available "later this Fall." The licensing fee for those 35 tracks is 280<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" />/$3.50 for Xbox 360 and PS3, though it remains unclear whether or not that fee would include <em>Smash Hits</em>' tracks when those are released.<br />

We've asked Activision for clarification of which tracks specifically are available in <em>GH5</em> and when <em>Smash Hits</em> will be ready for download, but unfortunately were told that we'd get a release tomorrow with "tons of details." So this is where we crowdsource things -- <em>Guitar Hero 5</em> owners in the Joystiq Biomass[TM], please let us know which 35 of <em>Guitar Hero World Tour</em>'s 86 tracks are playable! <a href="mailto:ben@joystiq.com?subject=GHWT tracks in GH5">Our inbox</a> is always open!<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/01/report-only-35-songs-from-guitar-hero-world-tour-work-with-gh5/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Report: Only 35 songs from Guitar Hero World Tour work with GH5 [update]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/01/report-only-35-songs-from-guitar-hero-world-tour-work-with-gh5/">Report: Only 35 songs from Guitar Hero World Tour work with GH5 [update]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Sep 2009 19:30:00 EST. While original <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band"><em>Rock Band</em></a> owners were given the luxury to continue to buy new tracks for the music title even after the release of its sequel, <em>Guitar Hero</em> fans won't be given the same option when <em>Guitar Hero 5</em> lands on store shelves. An Activision representative told <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/guitar-hero-5-dlc-won-t-be-compatible-with-guitar-hero-world-145383.phtml">Destructoid</a> that DLC for the upcoming <em>Guitar Hero 5</em> will not be compatible with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitr-hero-world-tour"><em>Guitar Hero: World Tour</em></a>.<br /><br />According to the Activision rep, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Guitar-Hero-5/">Guitar Hero 5</a></em> DLC will be compatible with future titles in the franchise, but "advancements and innovations" made to the upcoming music title do not allow for tracks to be backwards compatible with <em>World Tour</em>. Don't light the torches and grab the pitchforks just yet though, the same reason has been given for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/The-Beatles-Rock-Band/">The Beatles: Rock Band</a></em>'s inability to work with previous versions of the game.<br /><br />Thankfully, Activision has already confirmed tracks from <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Guitar-Hero-World-Tour/">Guitar Hero: World Tour</a></em> will be compatible with <em>Guitar Hero 5</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/11/activision-clarifies-guitar-hero-5-song-importing-process/">via an in-game importing process</a> -- which adds new features such as band moments, expert+ drumming and the new vocal star power to older tracks.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3175725">1UP</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/23/guitar-hero-5-dlc-not-compatible-with-world-tour/">Guitar Hero 5 DLC not compatible with World Tour</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 23 Aug 2009 20:30:00 EST. Activision's making it awfully hard for folks across this big blue world of ours to <em>not</em> purchase their upcoming rhythm title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-5"><em>Guitar Hero 5</em></a> -- here in the States, folks who purchase the game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/11/buy-guitar-hero-5-get-guitar-hero-van-halen-for-free/">are eligible to receive <em>Guitar Hero: Van Halen</em></a> for free. However, in the United Kingdom, the offer is incredibly sweeter -- those who pre-order <em>Guitar Hero the Fifth</em> through Amazon can also grab <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Guitar-Hero-Bundle-Xbox-360/dp/B002A9JGUO/ref=pe_14041_16525351_as_img_2/"><em>Guitar Hero: World Tour</em></a> for the low, low price of <em>nothing</em>.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.oxm.co.uk/article.php?id=13184">OXM received instructions</a> from Amazon.UK on how to utilize the offer -- simply add <em>Guitar Hero 5</em> (on any platform) to your basket, then add the special promotional version of <em>World Tour </em>for the appropriate console. Go to checkout, and the price of the latter will magically change to <em>zilch</em>. If only this kind economic wizardry applied to <em>every</em> purchase in our life.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/22/uk-gets-better-bargain-pre-order-guitar-hero-5-get-world-tour/">UK gets better bargain: Pre-order Guitar Hero 5, get World Tour free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 22 Aug 2009 22:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour"><em>Guitar Hero: World Tour</em></a> gets a fresh injection of DLC with the Activision Track Pack today, which features music from <em>actual</em> Activision employees' bands. Perhaps the most noteworthy quality of this newest track pack, however, is its low, low price of <em>free</em>. Here's what you'll get:<br />
<ul>
    <li>Awaken's "The Silence is Deafening" </li>
    <li>H is Orange's "Nothing All the Time" </li>
    <li>Hundred Reasons' "I'll Never Know" </li>
</ul>
Oh, and Activision's press release also mentions Steve Ouimette's "Dueling Banjos" will release next week. It will be the last DLC release before the release of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-5"><em>Guitar Hero 5</em></a> on September 1.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/13/guitar-hero-world-tour-gets-free-activision-music-track-pack/">Guitar Hero: World Tour gets free Activision music</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Aug 2009 19:20:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.guitarherostore.com/Bundles/Guitar-Hero-World-Tour-Guitar-Bundle-plus-Free-Kramer-Guitar-PS2?leadsource=61">official Guitar Hero store</a> has a great deal for PS2 gamers, bundling the single guitar pack of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Guitar-Hero-World-Tour/">Guitar Hero: World Tour</a></em> with a bonus Kramer Guitar controller for $50. The $39.99 value is only available for a limited time.<br /><br />If you're still rocking a PlayStation 2, the bundle could come in handy during parties where you'd prefer to spend your time staring at your television rather than speak to your invited guests. Also, the bundle will help future rockers to "man-it-up," by giving you a spare guitar in case you smash one after a sweet solo.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/12/ps2-deal-guitar-hero-world-tour-2-guitars-50/">PS2 deal: Guitar Hero World Tour + 2 guitars = $50</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Aug 2009 21:15:00 EST. We <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/07/14-year-old-breaks-ghiii-fire-and-flames-record-guitars/">frequently like to joke</a> that people who show remarkable adeptness at <em>Guitar Hero</em> are actually robots, but as you might imagine, we <em>don't</em> really mean it. However, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUdXhhDDnaY">after viewing a recent video</a> (posted after the jump) showing a young man who not only plays through Ozzy Osborne's "Mr. Crowley" on Expert, but solves <em>two</em> Rubik's cubes while doing so, the only logical explanation we can come to is that his deft hands and keen mind <em>must</em> be composed of wires, servos and cold, unfeeling steel.<br /><br />By the way, if you happen to speak ill of this young automaton's abilities due to his only receiving a score of 77 percent on the song, we're going to punch you in the heart. We may even call you a "stupid jerk," depending on how much of our ire you end up evoking.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5332464/playing-guitar-hero-on-expert-while-solving-two-rubiks-cubes">Kotaku</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/08/kid-plays-guitar-hero-while-solving-two-rubiks-cubes/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Kid plays Guitar Hero while solving two Rubik's Cubes</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/08/kid-plays-guitar-hero-while-solving-two-rubiks-cubes/">Kid plays Guitar Hero while solving two Rubik's Cubes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 08 Aug 2009 22:00:00 EST. We've been blown away by the effort Activision and Neversoft have put into making <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-5"><em>Guitar Hero 5</em></a> actually worth playing -- but their most recent move may be their wisest yet. <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/101/1011988p1.html">A recent IGN preview of the title</a> revealed the game will allow players to import "some" of the tracks from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour"><em>World Tour</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-smash-hits"><em>Smash Hits</em></a> into <em>GH5</em> (and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/band-hero"><em>Band Hero</em></a>) for a small fee. In addition, 125 of <em>World Tour</em>'s 128 DLC tracks will automatically work in the two upcoming rhythm titles. Of all the features to borrow from <em>Rock Band 2</em>, the removal of bothersome disc-swapping is one of the best.<br /><br />For those who aren't particularly thrilled by this piece of news, try this one on for size: <a href="http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14303807/guitar-hero-5/videos/guitar5_trl_johnnycash_8709.html">Johnny Cash will be a playable character</a> in <em>Guitar Hero 5</em>. There's a video of the black-suited man performing "Ring of Fire" after the jump. We suggest checking it out -- but only if you like things that are <em>completely badass</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/08/guitar-hero-5-allows-song-imports-from-previous-games-features/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Guitar Hero 5 allows song imports from previous games, features playable Johnny Cash</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/08/guitar-hero-5-allows-song-imports-from-previous-games-features/">Guitar Hero 5 allows song imports from previous games, features playable Johnny Cash</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 08 Aug 2009 11:00:00 EST. If you're wondering when <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour"><em>Guitar Hero: World Tour</em></a> will get a track pack comprised of three random acts from the Vagrant Records label, then we're about to <em>explode your mind</em>. The game's <a href="http://community.guitarhero.com/news_posts/261">latest DLC</a> features three tracks from artists Thrice, Alexisonfire and Sense Fail. Just try to curtail your excitement for now. Your mom might put you back on the Ritalin and we know how much that messed up your scores.<br /><br />The pack is currently available for 440<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> on Xbox Live, $5.49 on PSN, or you can download tracks individually for 160<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" />/ $1.99 PSN / 200 Wii Points. <br /><br />Thrice - ''<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7f8xaKgkfE">All The World Is Mad</a>''<br />Alexisonfire - ''<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9QMpaPFkyM">Young Cardinals</a>''<br />Senses Fail - ''<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZTr2K0yXfQ">The Martyr</a>''<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/24/guitar-hero-world-tour-gets-vagrant-records-track-pack/">Guitar Hero: World Tour gets Vagrant Records track pack</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 24 Jul 2009 22:30:00 EST. UK's aptly named Official Chart Company has a fairly progressive idea for how to more accurately tabulate the sales success of musical artists on its Official Download Chart -- by <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/34973/Music-charts-to-add-games">including the sales statistics for tracks</a> offered as downloadable content for rhythm titles such as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band"><em>Rock Band</em></a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour"><em>Guitar Hero: World Tour</em></a> and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/SingStar/">SingStar</a></em>.<br /><br />To compile and include this data, it would take a great deal of negotiation between the record companies, the Official Chart Company and the game's developers, but we think it's definitely worth the trouble -- if only so we could try to get <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCjTzve6pQg">Stephen and the Colberts</a> on the UK Weekly Top 40.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/09/uk-music-charts-want-to-add-rhythm-game-dlc/">UK music charts want to add rhythm game DLC tracking</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 09 Jul 2009 18:30:00 EST. Yet another crazy music game fire sale from <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/red-octane">RedOctane</a> today: For $49.99 on PS2, $59.99 on Wii or $69.99 on PS3 or 360, you can pick up a two-pack of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-metallica">Guitar Hero: Metallica</a> </em>and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-smash-hits"><em>Guitar Hero: Smash Hits</em></a>.<br /><br />As an added bonus, you'll also get a free <em>Guitar Hero World Tour </em>shirt. Now, you should by no means wear this in public, but if you need to work on your car or play the <em>Super Sloppy Double Dare </em>home game, it's a nice perk.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/08/pick-up-metallica-smash-hits-guitar-hero-bundle-for-cheap/">Pick up Metallica/Smash Hits Guitar Hero bundle for cheap</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 08 Jul 2009 18:57:00 EST. Is the drum kit above (to the right) what <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-5"><em>Guitar Hero 5</em></a> will be shipping with when it hits <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/27/guitar-hero-5-starts-the-party-on-september-1/">this September</a>? We're not 100% sure, but a trusted source at our sister site <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/06/guitar-hero-5s-drums-getting-a-rock-band-makeover/">Engadget</a> sent in the blurry shot, leading us to believe it could very well be. <br /><br />The new set bears a strong resemblance to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/rock-band"><em>that other</em> full band music/rhythm game</a> -- hey, there's even a lower bar support where the kick pedal could possibly hook on! Additionally, as Engadget rightly points out, the system controls have been moved in front of the pads. The back of the set allegedly features two kick pedal jacks and a "mysterious black mini jack" as well. We've asked for comment from Activision for confirmation of the set and have yet to hear back.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/">Guitar Hero 5</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/#2064300"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/guitar-hero-5-full-band-with-lyrics--star-power_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/#2064301"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/guitar-hero-5-non-hud-shot_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/#2064302"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/guitar-hero-5-three-drums-one-guitar_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/#2064303"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/guitar-hero-5-two-drum-two-guitar--star-power_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/guitar-hero-v/#2195733"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/08/8940_01_0026_20090629-4g4h1-8102009-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/rumor-guitar-hero-5-drum-set-to-look-an-awful-lot-like-rock-ban/">Rumor: Guitar Hero 5 drum set to look an awful lot like Rock Band's</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 06 Jul 2009 17:30:00 EST. Break out those tattered jeans and torn up flannel, because <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour"><em>Guitar Hero: World Tour</em></a> is getting a new DLC pack for the punk in all of us. Dubbed the Epitaph Punk-O-Rama Track Pack, the download features three tunes from three separate well-known Epitaph artists. It may be a bit more on the mainstream side of punk, but they're good tracks nonetheless.<br /><br />Here's what you'll get (440<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> XBL / $5.49 PSN):<br />

The track pack is available for download now in the US and Europe. Who's about to rock? <div align="left">If you were to trade in or sell all eleventy plastic guitars crammed into the corner of your living room, you <em>might </em>just be able to afford Logitech's <a href="http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/172/6063&amp;cl=us,en">newly announced</a> premium wireless <em>Guitar Hero </em>controller. Priced at $199 and pegged to street in August, the peripheral is a feature-for-feature equal of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/12/logitech-releases-another-gorgeous-fake-guitar/">previously revealed PS2 / PS3 model</a>, only it's orange. (Why not Xbox green? We know at least <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF1JpwHV5Ds">one band</a> who'd endorse it.)<br /><br />Like the PS3 unit, it has a real wooden neck (maple, if you're curious), a rosewood fingerboard and some seriously tough -- yet quiet -- strum and whammy bars. While it's designed with <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour">GHWT</a> </em>(and all 70 other <em>Guitar Hero</em> titles) in mind -- hence the slider/tapping area on its neck -- you'd know if you checked out our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/Instrument-Compatibility-Matrix/">instrument compatibility matrix</a> that it'll work with <em>Rock Band</em>, too. (And <em>Rock Band 2</em> ... too.)</div>

If you're one of the few people left on this planet whose living room, den and foyer aren't littered with fake plastic instruments, it's time for your induction. <a href="http://www.ebgames.com/gs/landing/umbs/">EB Games is doing a huge online sale</a> right now for slightly "worn" copies of nearly every peripheral-centric rhythm title to come out of Activision and Harmonix. Act quickly, and you can pick up the PS3 or 360 version of the <em>Rock Band 2 SE Bundle</em> or the PS3 or PS2 version of the <em>Guitar Hero World Tour Band Kit</em> plus free 3-day shipping for just $94.99.<br /><br />You could also pick up the other discounted items -- the original <em>Rock Band</em> bundle, <em>Guitar Hero II</em>, <em>Guitar Hero III</em> and <em>Guitar Hero Aerosmith</em> -- but the resulting necessary architectural extension of your gaming den might strip the deal of its cost efficiency.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/09/eb-games-hosting-huge-guitar-hero-and-rock-band-sale/">EB Games hosting huge Guitar Hero and Rock Band sale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Jun 2009 16:50:00 EST. Ostensibly, we're writing this to inform you that Stan Bush's "Transformers" ballad "You Got the Touch" is now available in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour"><em>Guitar Hero World Tour</em></a> for free. So ... now you know.<br /><br />Truthfully though, we're writing this post because we horde every chance to embed "The Touch" into Joystiq like a mother stuffing her asthmatic son with vitamins hoping that the nutrients within will help to someday make him stronger. Now, let us be as we let every note of Bush's crooning pump through our veins.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/29/stan-bushs-the-touch-now-in-guitar-hero-world-tour-for-free/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Stan Bush's 'The Touch' now in Guitar Hero World Tour for free</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/29/stan-bushs-the-touch-now-in-guitar-hero-world-tour-for-free/">Stan Bush's 'The Touch' now in Guitar Hero World Tour for free</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 29 May 2009 01:00:00 EST. Wannabe rockers, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour"><em>Guitar Hero: World Tour</em></a> is unleashing some fresh DLC for your earholes. Dubbed the 'Pop Rock Track Pack,' the contents of this DLC offering are pretty much what you would expect: pop rock songs. See what Activision did there?<br /><br />The Pop Rock Track Pack includes (460<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> for the bundle on Xbox Live / $5.49 on PSN):

You can download each of these tracks right now on your favorite console, or, if you own all three, you can download them for each, but that's just silly talk.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/14/guitar-hero-world-tour-pop-rock-track-pack-dlc-available/">Guitar Hero: World Tour 'Pop Rock Track Pack' DLC available</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 14 May 2009 20:15:00 EST. In Activsion Blizzard's Q1 2009 results announced today, the company made no small deal out of the contributions <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour"><em>Guitar Hero: World Tour</em></a> has made to its bottom line for the quarter. Citing figures from the NPD group, Charttrack and Gfk, Activision claimed software sales dominance with <em>GHWT </em>drawing in more money across all platforms than any other title's cumulative earnings for January 1 through March 31 in North America. <br /><br />Also trumpeted was <em>GHWT</em>'s performance on Wii as the console's highest-grossing third-party title in the US and Europe, noting in particular that it was the <em>only</em> third-party release among Wii's top five games in those territories. Sales of the <em>Guitar Hero</em> franchise in general were up 84% year over year in Europe, it said.<br /><br />Activision CEO Robert Kotick commented during its investors call that the <em>Guitar Hero </em>franchise has reached $2 billion in sales -- only the third to achieve this status -- while bad-mouthing rival <em>Rock Band</em> as experiencing a "rather precipitous drop-off" in sales.<br /><br />The "We're No. 1!" trend continued as Activision claimed the top PC spot -- a market where it holds three of the top 10 best-selling titles -- with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wrath-of-the-lich-king"><em>World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King</em></a>. <em>Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart</em>, according to figures provided by Apple, remains the top paid app for iPhone / iPod Touch, though the company didn't clarify whether that is in dollars or copies downloaded. What about <em>Call of Duty</em>? It did well enough to earn a brief mention in the publisher's earning statement, with publishing CEO Mike Griffith announcing that <em>Call of Duty 4 </em>has officially sold 13 million copies worldwide during the investor call. The franchise will likely have a much larger presence in the quarter following <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/02/activision-hopes-modern-warfare-2-is-biggest-selling-video-game-of/"><em>Modern Warfare 2</em></a>'s release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/07/activision-declares-third-party-software-dominance-thanks-guita/">Activision declares third-party software dominance, thanks Guitar Hero</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 07 May 2009 18:30:00 EST. A recent Activision presser revealed <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Guitar%20Hero%20World%20Tour">Guitar Hero World Tour</a></em>'s downloadable offerings for next month, and boy, is it one eclectic hodge-podge of on-rails music. When our fake plastic instruments kick the bucket, we toss them out the window onto a steadily increasing pile on the West Lawn. After that, we call the company responsible for said peripherals and start negotiating just how high the review score of its next game needs to be for it to ship us a brand-spanking new set. (The packing material? $100 bills.)<br /><br />But if you're in the <em>general populace</em> rather than a <em>key influencer</em>, you may have use of the thorough <a href="http://www.powertuneplus.com/gh/"><em>Guitar Hero World Tour </em>repair guide</a>. In an <a href="http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/04/writer-of-plastic-guitar-drum-repair-guides-talks-quality.ars">interview with Ars Technica</a>, the guide's author, Josh Straub, said that he believed instrument failure was almost guaranteed with high use, so even if you haven't had problems, you might want to make a bookmark for yourself. Now, we know that <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Guitar%20Hero%20World%20Tour">Guitar Hero World Tour</a></em> isn't nearly as a good as <em>that other rhythm title</em>, but if you're a starving faux-artist on a budget, you might be interested to know that <a href="http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5013140">Wal-Mart is offering the Xbox 360 version</a> of the full band <em>World Tour</em> bundle <a href="http://community.guitarhero.com/news_posts/192">for a mere $99</a>. We'd rather see a price cut for <em>that other game</em>, but you can't really complain about all the plastic instruments you can bring home for that kind of cash. There's no telling how long this "Rollback" offer will last, so if you'd best act quick, lest you be stuck with having to pick up <em>the other, much better rhythm title</em>.<br /><br />Oh, who are we kidding. Wal-Mart doesn't sell <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHLGg-GS5Fc"><em>Gitaroo Man</em></a> anymore.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/15/guitar-hero-world-tour-xbox-bundles-99-at-wal-mart/">Guitar Hero World Tour Xbox bundles $99 at Wal-Mart</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Apr 2009 19:30:00 EST. As you may have guessed from our headline (and the poorly 'chopped image above), <em>Guitar Hero: World Tour</em> is finally coming to the PC. <a href="http://gdc.gamespot.com/story/6206665/">GameSpot</a> has revealed that developer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Aspyr/">Aspyr</a>, the team behind the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Guitar-Hero-3">Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock</a></em> PC port, will bring the best selling band-based game to PC this June.<br /> <br /> <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Guitar-Hero-World-Tour/">Guitar Hero: World Tour</a></em> on the PC will ship bundled with one guitar controller. Aspiring virtual drummers will have to shell out for the PS3 drum kit while singers are free to use any USB based microphone. <em>Guitar Hero</em>'s PC tour will include all of the tracks released with the original game, as well as the music creator, but the created music sharing service on the Xbox 360 and PS3 will be stripped. Whether PC players will be able to download new DLC tracks is still unclear (although the previous <em>Guitar Hero</em> on PC omitted that feature).<br /> <br /> Aspyr confirmed that <em>World Tour</em> will share similar minimum system requirements to <em>Legends of Rock</em>, which some <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/guitarhero3legendsofrock">reviewers blasted</a> for lag problems. If the problems are addressed, we can't wait to get the band back together. But only if we can play our dream show in front of a real audience ... during an 11-hour flight from Tokyo to L.A. We're Laptop Heroes!<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/03/24/gdc-2009-guitar-hero-world-tour-officially-coming-to-the-pc/">BigDownload</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/25/gdc09-world-tour-finally-rockin-to-pc/">GDC09: Guitar Hero World Tour finally rockin' to PC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Mar 2009 14:15:00 EST. April is just around the corner and <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Guitar-Hero-World-Tour/">Guitar Hero: World Tour</a></em> isn't slowing down, announcing new DLC tracks from five very different rock bands. Returning to the game are Nirvana, Steely Dan, Mot&ouml;rhead and Silversun Pickups -- with two tracks off their new album, prior to its April 14 release -- with <span style="font-style: italic;">World Tour</span> newcomer The Pixies rounding out next month's content.<br /><br />Each downloadable track pack will be priced at 440<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> on the Xbox Live Marketplace and $5.49 on the PlayStation Store. Individual tracks will be available for 160<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> on Xbox 360, $1.99 on PlayStation 3 and 200 Wii Points. The entire listing of tracks for the month of April is available after the break.<strong><br /></strong><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/25/world-tour-adds-nirvana-motorhead-the-pixies-and-more-in-april/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>World Tour adds Nirvana, Motorhead, The Pixies and more in April</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/25/world-tour-adds-nirvana-motorhead-the-pixies-and-more-in-april/">World Tour adds Nirvana, Motorhead, The Pixies and more in April</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 25 Mar 2009 08:15:00 EST. Thanks to the touch and power of the internet, Stan Bush's classic <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transformers_the_movie">Transformers: The Movie</a></em> ballad<em>, </em>"The Touch," is heading to <em>Guitar Hero</em> -- for free. The drive started when Kotaku blogger, Michael Fahey, <a href="http://kotaku.com/5059337/stan-bush-wants-the-touch-in-guitar-hero-rock-band">refused to give up</a> on helping Bush see <a href="http://www.videogamer.com/news/stan_bush_wants_transformers_the_touch_in_rock_games.html">his wish</a> to have the song featured in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Guitar-Hero-world-tour/">Guitar Hero</a></em> and/or <em>Rock Band</em> granted. After exchanging emails with Bush himself, Fahey looked to his blog's readers to pester Activision and Harmonix until one (or both) caved.<br /> <br /> Earlier this week, Bush contacted <em>Transformers</em> resource site, <a href="http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=15395">Seibertron,</a> and dropped the bomb: "The Touch"<em> </em>would be made available in <em>Guitar Hero </em>-- presumably <em>World Tour</em> -- for free (exactly when, though, is still unknown). The grateful Bush then <a href="http://kotaku.com/5173693/stan-bush-thanks-kotaku-readers-for-their-support">wrote in to personally thank</a> Fahey and the fans who made it all possible. Oh internet, is there anything you can't do?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/19/stan-bushs-the-touch-coming-to-guitar-hero/">Stan Bush's 'The Touch' coming to Guitar Hero</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 19 Mar 2009 16:40:00 EST. Using figures provided by Wedbush Morgan analyst <a href="http://jjoystiq.com/tag/michael-pachter">Michael Pachter</a>, <a href="http://gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=22618">Gamasutra</a> has put together a <a href="http://gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=22618">brief sales analysis</a> of Activision's <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-world-tour"><em>Guitar Hero World Tour</em></a>. With three different bundles available at different prices, you might be surprised to learn the full band kit -- priced at $190 -- outsold both the guitar bundle and standalone game from October 2008 through January 2009. <br /><br />The full band package accounts for 41% of overall sales, with 35% going to the guitar bundle, leaving 24% for the standalone game. Taking the price of each bundle into account -- the guitar bundle is $90 and the game $60 -- Gamasutra points out that the full band bundle accounts for a full 61% of the revenue generated by <em>Guitar Hero World Tour</em>.<br /><br />As Gamasutra notes, the numbers seem a bit surprising given the number of compatible instruments already in gamers' hands when <em>World Tour</em> released, especially those of the original <em>Rock Band</em>, which released a year earlier. Impressive as the numbers may be, it's hard to believe Activision will be able to push as many full kits with future iterations of the franchise. That's what <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/30/official-enough-kotick-confirms-dj-hero-for-2009/">new instruments</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/13/activision-reveals-other-pre-order-bonuses-for-guitar-hero-meta/">accessories</a> are for.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/09/gh-world-tour-full-band-kit-outsells-guitar-bundle-standalone-g/">GH World Tour full band kit outsells guitar bundle, standalone game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Mar 2009 19:30:00 EST. Last June, Kinetic Communications created <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/01/diy-make-your-rock-band-drum-kit-wheelchair-accessible/">a clever workaround for wheelchair-bound gamers</a> who possess a penchant for <em>Rock Band</em> drumming, but were unable to use the kit's kick pedal due to their disability. Ben Heck, modder extraordinaire, recently did the same for the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=Guitar%20Hero%3A%20World%20Tour">Guitar Hero: World Tour</a></em> set -- however, rather than attaching an extra button to drumsticks, Heck found an altogether brilliant method of using the set's foot-activated percussion: He made it breath-controlled.<br /><br />It took a fair amount of fancy engineering, but Heck <a href="http://benheck.com/03-01-2009/air-pressure-kick-pedal-for-gh4">recently uploaded instructions to his blog</a> that show how to remove the pedal's piezoelectric sensor, and make it respond to air pressure rather than, well, foot pressure. You can get further details on the modification, as well as a video of Heck giving it a test run, on <a href="http://benheck.com/03-01-2009/air-pressure-kick-pedal-for-gh4">his site</a>. It's definitely an intriguing idea, though it more or less prohibits the drummer from simultaneously singing, making Phil Collins role-playing a near impossibility. Still, great work, Ben!<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/03/ben-heck-fashions-breath-controlled-kick-pedal-for-guitar-hero/">Engadget</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/04/ben-heck-creates-breath-controlled-drum-pedal-for-guitar-hero-wo/">Ben Heck creates breath-controlled drum pedal for Guitar Hero World Tour</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 04 Mar 2009 14:31:00 EST. Now, we could understand their unwillingness to support the <em>Lips </em>mics if they were poorly constructed or if it'd be some overwhelming task to take on. But the one thing (and possibly only thing) <em>Lips </em>has going for it are stellar peripherals and we don't believe releasing a game patch would be all that time consuming.<br /><br />Shame on you <em>World Tour</em>. At least <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/05/rock-band-2-puckers-up-for-lips-mic-patch/"><em>Rock Band</em> recognizes the value</a> of colorfully lit mics.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/27/guitar-hero-world-tour-wont-receive-lips-mic-support/">Guitar Hero World Tour won't receive Lips mic support</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 27 Feb 2009 13:30:00 EST.
